So I guess everyone is busy with the IPL now. We were supposed to have the T20 World Cup in a few months time, but it was postponed by a year, so that the IPL can be played. In financial terms, I don't have any doubt that this was the best thing to do. But in the long-term, is this really beneficial? A franchise league is given preference over an ICC tournament, that too a World Cup.
Nope its not beneficial at all.

But BCCI going bankrupt or neglecting domestic cricket due to finance is beneficial for world cricket? Nope because in longer run if BCCI ran out of funds then No domestic cricket> No new talents> Weak Indian team> Fans might lose hope etc. End result would be death of die hard fan following of cricket in India. It directly effects Cricket economy of the world cricket.
Corrupted and greedy people don't care about anything other than increasing bank balance, BCCI looking to make profits in the short term but it may endanger the whole Indian cricket base in long run because we need to right fundamental to filter the young talents then only they can shine in the world's stance.

Everyone including BCCI/Players needs to grow some thick skin, you shouldn't fire someone for criticizing your fav player or team, unless you want cheerleaders in the commentary box.
Exactly. He is a controversial commentator in so many ways, but he has tons of experience in this field which is why I felt that he deserves another shot. I still don't like him much, but he is good at his job which ultimately matters at the end of the day.

The ICC World Cup was actually preferred first due to which IPL was put on hold until it got delayed after which they set the dates for IPL 2020. However, I still don't support this due to the risks involved.

Sanjay Manjrekar wants another shot at commentating in the upcoming edition of IPL guys.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.timesofindia.com/sports/cricket/ipl/top-stories/sanjay-manjrekar-requests-bcci-to-take-him-back-as-commentator-in-ipl/amp_articleshow/77274579.cms

I think he should be given another chance since he is actually a pretty good commentator who loses control now and then. However, he is human and makes mistakes just like everyone else which is why he deserves another chance in my opinion. What do you guys think?
Lol Sanju Manju  Grin

I don't like him as commentator but considering the fact that he brings something special on the table with his controversial remarks, which i find very funny and entertaining so i don't mind if he comes back as a commentator.

No No not again. This guy was a worst cricketer and a worst commentator. He is only good at taking jibe on fellow commentator and player. He is better off the commentator box.

What I do not like one think about him is that he is more of criticizer rather than appreciating the people. You can say something politely or if you were the top world class player yourself then yes you can command that about the game. But he way of speaking seems that he was the best batsman as such in his time which is not true, and this is what might be hurting to the upcoming players. This demoralizes the player as well.

They are organizing it without spectators, right? If so, there wouldn't be a problem as any case shootings have started and even cinema halls are opening. To move to another country would be more risky rather than playing it here. I can understand that for foreign players, it would be an issue but travelling itself makes them take that risk.
Are you serious that the movie halls are opening in India with the corona situation is getting worse and i am living in a place with much better situation than in India but the movie halls are closed but we can go to the restaurant but there is limited spaces and you need to wear a mask and the sporting activities started without audience and if the Indian government is willing to open movie halls then they can start allow sporting activities with limited audience.
The so called Unlock 3.0, (Thanks to Modi's fetish for acronyms and catchy slogans), is mulling opening up halls from August 1. The same for Gyms. We have already had quite a bit of re-opening with normal traffic, full markets, factories and workplaces etc. People are no longer willing to stay indoors of course. Plus most of them need to go out to work, open shops and just earn something. People wear masks and try to keep their distance, and pray that if they get symptoms then they turn out to be mild.

The way things are going, BCCI may not even have to move IPL. They can play without the audience even in India. Probably, the numbers will be manageable in UAE. Coz if it happens and is allowed in India, Corona or No corona, people will be flocking with masks and plastic suits from Amazon, but they WILL go and watch. Also, WTF is Jay Shah doing with the official website still reading "IPL 20 suspended till further notice"
Now this all is very interesting look like they are going to host this in India because now from 1st August some good relaxation in lock down and government wants to check if they are able to have some more good in next one month then they will try this at home or UAE is already ok https://www.iplt20.com/news/206310/ipl-2020-suspended-till-further-notice

I think IPL is the most popular league because of IPL's matches are very exciting. on the other hand, there are many people who like to bet on IPL"s match. in my country I know a lot of people who like to bet on IPL. I think this is one of the big reasons, why many people watch IPL match.

IPL is the best league out there, because the world's best take part in this competition. The other leagues, such as BBL and the CPL can't claim this. In terms of popularity and revenues, IPL is miles ahead of the other leagues and I would even say that it's viewership is more than that of the T20 World Cup. It is not surprising actually, given India's dominance in cricket.

Indians will still celebrate IPL by watching it online or on Television. IPL means everything to every cricketing fan aroung the globe, as in 2020 it is one of the major and only cricketing events.
Yes, IPL has turned to be one among the most popular leagues played. This has got viewers all around, because from each and every country few players are into the league on different teams. Another thing is the time taken for the entire match to get complete. Mostly the matches were scheduled for the evening which makes everyone watch it having fun.

Since IPL is of short format, everyone would be loving this, and this is more of a batsman game where you see very frequent 4's and 6's or some innovative short being played etc. As a result, always have seen all seats in stadium are full packed and yes people are interested in betting as well. Have known few of them who try to find out the odds and try their luck on it. Since its IPL so anytime the game can change, and odds might become favourable in the end.

The qualifiers are the most entertaining part of IPL and then the quarterfinals. At this point, most of you might agree that you will know which team will reach final and which team might win the finals,
Not all the time, especially in a season MI climbed to fourth position from the bottom of the table and even won that trophy.Unexpected things are always happening at every matches even in league matches.

Finally, IPL to start in September and end in November means they aren't cutting out on games. Without audience it won't be fun to watch but still something better than nothing. I wish they play in India only as the situation in other countries would make it more risky for them and the other players.

In a country where daily new highs are being made then previous day and situation does not look good as it is spreading way too fast now so it would not be possible to conduct in such situation as also the security in IPL needs to be provided which state may not be able to handle at this time. So, decision to move outside is correct as per this situation.

IPL2020 is shifted in UAE for few reasons and still we have many other problems but as now BCCI is doing hopefully this all will be ok because they are really looking for big profit nothing else few franchies oweners already have few concerns and they are going to talk with BCCI Authorities because they want some more safety lets see what happen as now all paper work is going on for this.

India has got a huge fanbase for Cricket. Each match played on the top cities of India makes the entire season to be a celebration. As the match is scheduled to be conducted in UAE, we don't know how interesting is this season of IPL. Now most of the cricket gamblers make them prepared for the betting on different matches.
