Expected this from a mile away. The pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the world and the chances of hosting these big draw tournaments kept dropping with time. BCCI still believes there is a chance for IPL at the end of this year desperately.

They stand to lose 4000 crores if IPL gets cancelled this year. I don't see how they can host the IPL this year and keep all the players from getting infected simultaneously in India where community transmission is the big problem currently.

Countries all over the world are gradually restarting their economy. Even cricket boards are planning various tournaments and bilateral tours in the coming months. Currently West Indies is touring England and the Pakistan team has also reached there. So I don't think that we should cancel or postpone all the tournaments until the COVID 19 virus is eradicated.

Now coming back to the T20 World Cup, the Australian government was sympathetic to staging the tournament sometime later this year. But then the cricket board was not very keen on that and made some public statements regarding the same. Now I am not sure what happened, but my guess is that CA got a sweet deal from the BCCI.
Most chances BCCI sweet deal done his magic and this world cup postponed because currently Australian domestic Rugby and soccer leagues doing good and they was able to have this Twenty/20 world cup also but IPL2020 was much higher demanded so they have good package from them and then cancel this all to give good way BCCI.

Cricket matches are not yet 100% free from match fixing. Recently, a number of players were banned after an investigation by the ICC found that match fixing took place during the Qatar T10 League. The same happened in 2019 with the Karnataka Premier League as well. And previously, there were instances within the IPL itself, when the team owners were found to be fixing matches.

Sharjah still remains as the hub of match fixers and that's the reason I think the BCCI will never allow any visits by the Indian national team to that city in the near future. The IPL is another topic altogether.
There might be spot fixing in cricket and there is no way that an established player is going to take money as they are making huge financial benefits playing cricket including advertisement and other revenues, earlier the pay scale was not that huge and we might expect players falling for these but now a days it is really hard because of the consequences and the amount of money they are going to loose and on top of that jail sentence. Small tournaments can be manipulated but not the big leagues.

ICC is now very strict on match fixing issue. No player is exempted, we can see the case of world number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, he does not involve in match fixing but he has been banned for 1 year for hiding match fixer information to the ICC.  from this we can understand that how much strict ICC on this issue. so, I don't think, if IPL will be held in UAE or Sharjah, no one will dare to do match fixing.

That's true. I don't want to divert the topic and talk about Shakib, but still I think that he was made a scapegoat by the BCB.

During the good old days, match fixers used to make Sharjah their base camp. Mafia dons such as Dawood Ibrahim used to sit at the VIP lobby, when the Indian cricket team took on Pakistan. All that came to an end in 2000, when some of the high ranking Indian players were banned for match fixing. Sharjah was identified as the hub of match fixers and the BCCI decided not to play anymore international matches there.

ICC postpones Men's T20 World Cup 2020

Postponed and not cancelled. I was somewhat expecting this, because the BCCI wanted IPL so badly this year. The postponement has triggered a chain reaction. The 2020 edition of the T20 World Cup has been postponed by 12 months, to October-November 2021. Similarly, the 2021 edition has been moved to October-November 2022.

The 2023 Men's World Cup (50 overs) have been postponed as well, from February-March 2023 to October-November 2023. This was necessitated due to the ongoing delay with the ODI Super League matches.

Finally the ICC revealed their secret plan  Cheesy, not sure why they were holding this as if everything would be back to normal in a short period and now the rest of the franchise cricket tournaments can plan their schedule and resume their matches and after those tournaments the ICC might take a position on the future whether international matches can be conducted on the same model Grin.

All the more reason for BCCI and ICC to target the untapped markets. UAE has quite a lot of Indians and Pakistanis and you cannot say that they wouldn't have had some influence on society's taste. Also, with the India-Pakistan tensions high, this is the perfect time to get the rivalry going.
It may also be a good time to get some Pakistani players into IPL for the entertainment quotient. Seeing how Pakistanis seem to not do anything these days without their higher than himalayas, sweeter than honey, deeper than ocean Chini friends, BCCI could invite the Chinis into the IPL too. Those would be some dream matchups.

Seriously though, UAE has some legendary venues that Indians connect to, including Sharjah. It would be a good choice for IPL. If it goes as planned, it may well be a welcome sign of normalization of our world.

Since Bcci has a big influence on ICC decisions, we might see the world cup being postponed.  I think IPL will be played in united arab emirates probably with closed stadiums. I am not sure if it can be successful in uae or not because I don't think there is craze of ipl in uae as compare to India.

Having an influence is different from having the final word about the scheduling. The first and foremost problem with the scheduling of the T20 World Cup was that Cricket Australia (for unknown reasons) was not interested in holding it this year, despite the enthusiastic response from the Australian government. And that obviously gave the BCCI an opportunity to conduct the IPL this year.

When the t20 world cup was supposed to be held? I have forgotten totally. Is the world cup get postponed for IPL, I think that is a stupid move from them. Soccer matches already have started, why not cricket globally? I think now it's possible to run by following some strict rules.
The scheduled date to start the T20 World Cup was 18th October and the final was to take place on 15th November, the BCCI and other franchise tournament are waiting for the ICC to make a clarity on how they are proceeding with the tournament. Soccer clubs resumed their schedule and they are running it smoothly and the England and West Indies is going on well other than the Jofra Archer incident where he broke the safety protocol and hence not in the team and it shows the lack of discipline in cricket and may be the cricket boards are not willing to risk that Wink.

I have received a news article link from my Indian friend which says that BCCI is expecting ICC to announce the postponement of the World Cup tomorrow?, is this news true?. Further the article also states that IPL will be organised in UAE which I too had mentioned earlier in this thread, however it’ll be really interesting if ICC is adamant that the T20 World Cup needs to be organised instead of the IPL.

I am pretty much sure about IPL being organized in UAE but I am not sure about ICC announcing the postponement of T20 world cup. I found an article about the same on ESPN crickinfo, it does mention BCCI is waiting for ICC to announce the cancellation.

This is an article by Press Trust of India. Look at the hopes of BCCI as they want IPL to be conducted at any cost and they do not care even if the world cup has to be cancelled for this event. For india, IPL may be important but for the rest of the world World Cup is more important than ipl.

Quote
On hold for the past two months, the fate of this year's T20 World Cup will be up for a decisive round of deliberation when the ICC board meets virtually on Monday with the BCCI hoping for a postponement to ensure that the IPL can go ahead.

It's same in soccer too, there will be some of such players everywhere. I can not remember the name of the Real Madrid player who was put off the team for participating in a birthday party or such occasion in this pandemic. As a result, he was excluded from the team.
Is it Luka Jovic? He is injured actually and their team is a little bit worried of him because he had been having time for barbecue with his friends insteas of recovering injuries. Well it is his decision to make for his life besides it is not easy to rest and lock all day. Having friends may even get the injured to be recover quickly because our body also could be stimulated every happy moments probably like a stress reliever.

Anyway, I guess he want to play again it seems he's injured had healed quickly.
