Well like I have said many times during this pandemic, the BCCI only care about the money which is why they never stopped at trying to get this seasons IPL played and they now have what they wanted. Yes the UAE might be safe but who knows what can happen as this virus is really affecting a lot of sports around the world once they started playing. I just hope that all the players stay safe and we don't see any player get the virus like we have seen in other sports once they started back up again.

I am not sure whether UAE is safe enough. I am checking the stats (from www.worldometers.info), and today they had 351 new cases and 1 new death. Compared to the other countries, UAE is having one of the highest infection rates. They have 5,952 cases per million population, which is way higher than what they have in India (1,009 per million) or Sri Lanka (129 per million).

At least from the stats, it looks as if UAE is even more dangerous than India.
But right now UAE and BCCI both are looking for big profit and they really not caring about any other thing which is very bad from them UAE and their Cricket Authorties sure they can earn millions of USD and UAE Government also feel this can bring really big amount so they are just doing this all with close eyes even this can bring some very serious trouble for them in future for long run.

Is there an issue if a cricket governing body is thinking about the money it can earn from a tournament? I do not think so, IPL generates more revenue than any other cricket tournament in the world because the BCCI knows how to organize and market it.

BCCI, one of the richest sports organization in the world. As said it'll never think of other issues. Somehow it needs to make the money out of the IPL.
BCCI is not the richest sports organization in the world, National Football League (NFL) is. What issue are you referring too? UAE offered to host the IPL and BCCI accepted it. How can a tournament of cricket be an issue for anyone?

I’d: "VASKIY" told that, BCCI is one of the richest sports organizations in the world. he didn't tell it is the richest organization.

UAE is the perfect place for hosting IPL in this covid-19 pandemic situation.  India is a over populated country, India is at big risk due to coronavirus. In this case, it would be foolish to host IPL in India. since NZ cricket board is not interested in IPL hosting in New-Zealand. so, UAE is the better alternative for hosting IPL in this year. I’m just waiting to bet on IPL Wink

Everyone want to see the IPL matches but the organizers also have to watch out for the current covid-19 conditions. The cannot just select UAE because the condition is united arab emirates are also not so good. Final decision will be from BCCI and i hope they will consider all the safety factors before allowing the tournament to resume.

Now the schedule for the years IPL begins by September 19. UAE being little populated it isn't a big issue, but as a part of making the 2020 expo more visible to the outer world UAE might be organising this time.

IPL 2020 has moved to the UAE and teams have already begun sweating.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.timesofindia.com/sports/cricket/ipl/top-stories/logistics-the-main-challenge-for-taking-ipl-2020-to-uae/amp_articleshow/77161671.cms

This is just the beginning. There are so many hurdles that the teams need to overcome in order to make this tournament happen. Am expecting many players to back out owing to COVID-19. A single infected player is capable of transmitting the virus to the rest.

Logic ki maaaaaaa... chis jala di bhai?? Festivals are correlated to the harvest season not to developing or developed countries. And no, Rama did not return during Diwali so he could harvest his grains at Ayodhya.

Bhai murkho ki kami nahi hai is duniya main!!

Why bother then? It is not his fault he has been told about it or might have read it somewhere. You do not need to explain to everyone about festivals in India.

So finally we will have the IPL afterall. It would be interesting to see how it feels to watch it on TV without the usual exuberant, rancorous crowd noise in the background of commentary. Imagine cricket but with the background noise of a golf match. This will feel like twenty-twenty with a test match crowd. Will it make the experience a little less interesting. They should come up with some excuse to introduce background static in commentary to simulate a crowd.

3rd world countries like India go big on festivals primarily during the 2nd half of the year.

Yeah you are right festivals are big in India.

This time it will be double bonanza, the regular festival and at last IPL 2020 and for a month staying at home will be fruitful.
How big any festive was in the past you cannot expect anything to go as normal and you will be forced to celebrate at home and the reason the broadcasting partners wanted a different slot is because they want to cater to the audience who miss going out and enjoy the festival but India is a cricket craze nation and they will earn more than broadcasting anything else during festival season when everyone is forced to celebrate at home.

Wow, one month festival, never thought that a festival could last one month as i am accustomed to Carnevale, Pasquetta and Christmas, but the matches in IPL just last around 3 to 4 hours and they can stack the day with the rest of the programs as the matches actually takes place at night. I really enjoy participating in these events rather than watching it in television. I read the wiki page but i am more confused now as it says it is a festival of several other religion.
Festivals in India are usually celebrated for several days to weeks. Diwali isn't a month long festival. It lasts for a couple of days and people around the world call it the festival of lights due to the epic fireworks basically which is why people from different religions participate in it.

Certain festivals last for a couple of weeks though. 3rd world countries like India go big on festivals primarily during the 2nd half of the year. Diwali plus IPL basically equals fireworks!

One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism.

So basically broadcaster wants to cover Diwali week for more revenue.

We are certain we will see the IPL this year and that is a good thing.

Didn't expect IPL to happen this year which is why this news surprised me. UAE are taking a big risk here just for the sake of financial incentives and I hope the tournament starts and concludes smoothly without any issues due to COVID.

Since you are so concerned of IPL being organised in UAE I think you should watch this video - https://youtu.be/UM1XegvglO0

If I am correct then UAE is the only country that is open to tourism. IPL will conclude smoothly without any issues.
Even in current situation its big risk but I am feeling UAE Authorities are able to handle things as they wanted because they have very strong system they already allow many works to start again as they are doing some good to control this Virus but still its risk and BCCI is also very eager to take this as they also looking big profit not for any safety.

Guys it’s official the IPL is scheduled to begin on September 19th in UAE, and the final will be held on November 8th. @Indymoney I believe that UAE is very strict in implementing covid laws, hence I’m not surprised that BCCI has selected UAE as the destination, and now let’s hope that this tournament starts and ends without anyone testing positive.

Not interested in unnecessary T-20 series after 50 days of IPL dose Grin. let them follow quarantine norm and training, then focus on  Day/Night practice match + Test series.

The big question is how will this affect IPL 2021 which would take place right after a couple of months as long as a vaccine is ready.

I still think that the BCCI should have sacrificed IPL this year even if they were to lose 4K crores since health should be given a greater priority here. Let's see what happens.

Looks like another series might get postponed to 2021.

COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc. It still seems that there is a strong possibility of the series happening this year based on what I read, but the 14 day quarantine makes sense overall.

^^^ TV broadcasters should be reasonable in their demands. They wanted the IPL and now they got it despite the different circumstances. Now they can't make unfair demands like the schedule should be decided by them. Also, it needs to be remembered that this year's T20 World Cup was postponed, so that the IPL 2020 can go forward as planned.
