Looks like the BCCI is pushing ahead with hosting the IPL later this year in September - November which will put the T20 world cup in doubt. Not only that there are still several countries that have strict travel restictions in place which would make it hard for the world cup to go ahead. I thought it would as Australia has done well at containing the virus but like I said its winter here and now we are seeing an increase in cases daily, the worst since March.
BCCI cannot do this without approval of Government and situation is not good for them even most of experts peak of corona is still coming so I have doubt they will be able to have IPL this year because this could be very risky and can bring some serious damage to them even without crowd many players will not able to came here and join this all.

Yes I agree and that's what I think is the problem for all international sports right now, the travel between countries and states/cities. Even here in Australia there are restrictions on travel between states so even if the T20 world cup was to go ahead it would make it hard. I just think that we have to give both tournaments a miss this year and try for next year which hopefully the virus is under control by then.

South Africa trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat and experimenting with the new format called "3TeamCricket" 3 teams (8 players each) playing against each other in the same match hahaha seems fun.

Experimental three-team format to kick off South Africa's return to cricket

Here comes complexity in cricket :-P
Unique idea but not sure many people will understand it. I do not find any excitement though.

Did anyone notice that PL has already started from yesterday?
Good news is now we have Soccer in all European countries and Cricket is also going to start after 20 days in England but sad news we will not able to have these sports in 2020 as Corona is doing his own business and its not going to end in near future.

I am up for every weird innovation so i am excited for this one as well. I don't follow football so nope  Undecided

@Royse777 my head started to spin after reading so many rules hence I guess this league is not for me, but it’ll be interesting to see how the general public views it, and further it seems that they already have found a fan/viewer in @JSRAW. Lastly I’m excited for the Premier League to begin as I can’t wait for Manchester United vs Tottenham match because then I’ll finally get to see Pogba and Fernandes link together, and hopefully win my bet too that I have placed on Manchester United.

I want to watch them play this format.
It would be interesting to see the confusion at the early stages of the format. Anything is possible in cricket if this format gets a crowd and a lot of new countries following it then it would be great.

Which I doubt!
You have doubt and I am sure this is not going to be good as crowd already very confuse about any rules and this one is going to be more trouble but still I am happy about this experiment and want to check how is this going to watch hopefully something interesting will happen.

Oh c'mon bro, don't be a party pooper  Tongue and don't tell me that you never fancy the idea of one batsman batting alone in any international cricket, just like gully cricket hahaha.

Its one-off exhibition event anyway and all the raised money going to charity.
Hmm. Since it's just an exhibition event for the sake of charity, I agree with you. I just found it difficult to understand the rules of this new format even though I have been following Cricket for years now.

I do remember the feeling of playing Cricket solo though without any batsman on the other end. I wonder how many runs the batsman would be capable of scoring on their own without depending on anyone.

PCB chairman Mr Ehsan said yesterday that T20 World Cup in Australia in this year does not look feasible and it could get postponed to the next year .Though the final decision on this matter might be taken in the coming months.  But this may just be the hint for all about the world cup .
Almost everyone including me foresaw this from a mile away. Even if Australia and NZ have controlled the pandemic properly, they still can't risk allowing foreign players from COVID affected countries since they would prioritize their own people first.

Yes, this would only mean that unless vaccine is available things may not look really good for the 2 very big tournament which was supposed to happen this year like IPL and T20 world cup tournament. This would only mean postponement of T20 world cup and cancellation of IPL, unless some magic happens with the vaccine and patients recover quickly.

AstraZeneca is currently conducting the 3rd and final phase of human trials for the COVID 19 vaccine and it should be available in the market in a few months from now. That said, the Australian government says that it is doing whatever it takes, so that the T20 World Cup can go ahead as per the plan. But today there was bad news from that country. The Cricket Australia chairman (Earl Eddings) said that it will be unrealistic to stage the world cup at this point.

And there is more bad news. Check this:

https://emergingcricket.com/news/cricket-scotland-matchup-with-australia-cancelled-due-to-covid-19/

It is confirmed that the T20I between Australia and Scotland is cancelled.

Even number, mentioned in the screenshot (6th point), similar to gully cricket. Hit the ball and take 2,4 runs if possible. Grin

I do not find any excitement though.

What in the world? I tried reading the rules 2-3 times and then understood it partially. This is some complicated mashup of ideas which I doubt anyone would enjoy.

Cricket is itself a complicated sport with the current rules which is why these new rules make it far more complicated. I don't see this experiment ending successfully to be honest though I could be wrong.

This new format will allow cricket matches to be played again and the players to return to bring us good cricket. Sometimes we feel nonconformity but it is worse than nothing.
The team that achieves the highest aggregate until the end of the game will be the winner. I see it as it works in each competition the team that achieves the most scores must be the winner.

Now everyone is experimenting with the sport, it seems to be funny to see three teams battling out in the same match, football too needs to make these changes with 3 goal post and 3 teams Cheesy.

It is true, the rules we have for cricket is really complicated to introduce to a new person and if cricket needs to see more nations playing the game on the highest level they need to simply things rather than complicating things.

If they can evolve and make things interesting it is well and good, i would like to see how this will go.

^^^ Now this is what we would call as innovation. Went through the details of the new format, and for me it looks very interesting. My only concern is about the duration. 12 overs is too low, IMO. It will be just like T10 cricket, which gives no space for the bowlers. The team can afford to lose 10 wickets in 12 overs, and all the time the batsmen would be trying to hit the bowler out of the ground. Let's have 20 overs per innings, for a total of 60.
