What you mean by they sold for 775 lakhs Roll Eyes, what decimal is this buddy, sorry for my ignorance. Guess it is a good price considering the recent performance of Hetmyer.
Shimron Hetmyer is sold to Delhi capitals for a million dollars which is around 7.75 crore in Indian rupees and it is a really huge amount , get used to the Indian numerical system if you are looking for the prices in the IPL  Tongue.

This is an example of how a single cricket match can change the fortunes of an individual. Do you really think that the Delhi Capitals would have made such an aggressive bid, if he hadn't made the 106-ball 139 during the Chennai ODI? 7.75 crore INR is equivalent of $1.1 million. And after the Indian income tax, he'll be getting somewhere around $770,000. Not too bad for a 22-year old, for a two month stint. It looks to me that the West Indies tour of India was perfectly timed for the IPL auctions.  Grin

Top foreign players ( price tag in INR and USD), who attracted bidding war today. Morris looks expensive buy, rcb got scammed by MI in bidding Cheesy
Good year for Pat Cummins and he's enjoying the moment. Let's see how many games he plays, he shouldn't follow Starc in this regard for starters.  Grin

Yeah I also wondered the same when Glen Maxwell was sold out today. Btw it was crazy auction with DI and Punjab going head to head for Maxwell. In the end DI backed off and KXIP got their man. It was an interesting auction in 1st tier ..especially the Cummins one.
The players will be well aware of the IPL auction and they would try their best to perform really well so that they could have a price tag on them and i am surprised that Cummins who is a fast bowler got the biggest price as T20 is a batsman's game and i would literally spent money for a all rounder like Andre Russell who could change the match with his bat and they spent the most to a bowler is strange.

Btw Hetmyer got sold for 775 lakhs.. Interesting price tag. His recent T20 and ODI performance against India has really pushed off his price tag.

He was in his early 30s when he retired and the impact that had on the quality of the South African side is out there for everyone to see. It is good to hear that he wants to be back in the national team. But I don't know how much impact that is going to have, since he wasn't active in the cricket field for the past many years (although recently he had a good outing with the MSL).
When ABD retired it was a shocking decision for majority of the cricket fans as no one expected that as he was in his prime form and yet he came up with his retirement plan saying he is not enjoying playing cricket anymore and with the way in which the South African team is struggling they need to have a mentor to groom the young talents and he is the right player who can do that and even if ABD is not active i am sure he will perform better than any other player in the team at present.

The reason AB De Villiers is planning to come back to international cricket is because he wanted to help a troubling team and he is a game changer and could increase the moral of the rest of the struggling players. The mental stress was a big thing right now and may be he was under stress playing a lot of cricket and he had a fall out with the cricket board and hence he retired and even still he is playing way much better than anyone in the World and if he wishes to play again he should be selected in the team.

He had a well publicized fight with the cricket board during the 2015 world cup (when Vernon Philander was inserted in to the playing XI to replace the in-form Kyle Abbott). He was in his early 30s when he retired and the impact that had on the quality of the South African side is out there for everyone to see. It is good to hear that he wants to be back in the national team. Its good news but have to ask...
Lol why he is coming back now? got bored with mercenary life?
Make no mistake, I am big fan of De Villiers but he was the one who left the team voluntary when everyone literally begging him not to retire, not to mention SA team was in very bad shape and still are.

Good for him, i never thought he was that expensive  Cheesy.

I guess he suited the KKR lineup for the IPL 2020. They had a lot of money remaining, and they wanted to hire a world class fast bowler. And you may agree that Pat Cummins was the best bowler available during today's auction (with Mitchell Starc pulling out). They might have got Tim Southee or Chris Woakes for cheaper rates, but Cummins is among the world's best.

I'd say... money well spent.

Pat Cummins has become one of the most expensive players in the Indian Premier League, after he was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a massive ₹155,000,000 ($2,180,000). The auction has just started, and we can expect more record bids in the next few hours. So far, Eoin Morgan has Chris Morris have also managed to get good bids. Morris went to Royal Challengers Bangalore for $1,410,000 and Morgan was bought by KKR for $738,000. The KXIP got Glenn Maxwell for $1,512,000.

What were Kolkata Knight Riders thinking who pays 15 crore for Pat Cummins?, It’s a very strange decision and only time will tell if they got it right. Is Glen Maxwell fit enough to play in IPL, considering he’s on a lengthy break due to his mental health issues I wasn’t aware that he had agreed to participate in IPL.

I think that for this edition, they are conducting the tournament in Pakistan and not in the United Arab Emirates. This should increase the revenues for the PCB, although I am not sure whether they will be in profit or not.
If they are able to conduct the franchise league in their home ground then they will be able to increase their revenue and the television deals is the biggest revenue any board can get and i am not sure whether these big television channels are bidding for them as i have not see their television ratings yet, since the big population will be watching cricket it has to show in the TRP ratings.

The Big Bash is a hit because of the Australian audience and the problem with PSL is that they used to conduct the tournament outside the country in neutral grounds and you always see empty grounds simply because you can only find audience during week days in UAE because everyone migrates to those countries looking for work and you cannot skip work to watch the match and once they start conducting the match inside Pakistan they might reap the benefit and they are taking the steps to bring cricket back to Pakistan.

This should increase the revenues for the PCB, although I am not sure whether they will be in profit or not. Countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh have the ability to conduct franchise T20 leagues, because they have large cricket crazy populations, unlike the case with South Africa or New Zealand. And regarding the BBL, despite the small population of Australia, the matches have attracted TV audience in excess of 1 million (4% of the population), and this means that the broadcasting rights will be sold at a much higher rate for the next cycle.

Mark Bouchar and Graham Smith on CSA posts so now these both doing some good decsions for them first of all they have this target look like its achieved hopefully this will helpful and give some good time for South African team which is going down badly.

Last time i checked Smith was in temporary position, didn't follow news in the recent updates but yeah when former players participates in the management then its good for board and cricket/players over all. Having said that i am not holding my breathe over this, we have to wait and watch for any significant results. it takes times and no one has magic wand.

Mark Bouchar already making threat to English Team and rightly so. after all they are known for their dark green pitches.  Grin  Grin

Good news for cricket fans and for South Africa as AB de Villiers is in talks with the cricket board to return for the T20 world cup and i really hope they will include him in the team, AB de Villiers was planning to return for the ODI world cup but then they did not consider him because it was too late to select him but now he informed about his interest to play the world cup well ahead and i hope there will be no more excuses.

Its good news but have to ask...

The Mzansi Super League is reported to be in deep loss, and the same can be said about the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well. The Big Bash League of Australia and the Caribbean Premier League of West Indies are some of the few tournaments which have become profitable. The main problem is that all these leagues (including the Pakistan Super League) are heavily dependent on the Indian audience for their survival. And attracting the Indian audience is going to be a tough task, as the BCCI has banned Indian players form these tournaments.

As only IPL have all the international players come together to play the  game everybody knows about it and I think only that country people might know other the leagues and people also may not have time to watch so many leagues and cricket happening around the globe .
The main IPL got this much traction that the rest of the leagues that are mentioned is because IPL was the first franchise T20 cricket league and it was a great success as there were players from around the globe and the amount of money they spent for production and the cricket crazy fans in India made it a huge success and then the other leagues started after seeing the commercial success they could attain.

A lot of the countries have tried to copy the idea of the IPL and create their own versions of the league. But only a very few have been successful.
