Just a quick question what's the advantage of having an account?  Can't I just upload and use it without an account anyway?

Was bitcointalk ever going to fix the existing images not displaying issue or was the final solution to leave every member to resolve this issue for themselves?

The point is that this problem is not exactly on the side of bitcointalk. Restrictions are imposed by image hosting sites, which block proxy or forum IP, or have limits on bandwidth.

Therefore, according to what is known so far, nothing should be done on the forum side. Each user must take care, to review their images.

I have been using your image hosting recently. It's super cool and easy to use. I hope this project lasts long.  Grin

You can easily convert them online to different formats with smaller size, usually .jpg takes less space and .WebP even less.
There are several free open source tools for image compression, one of them is Squoosh, and other alternatives are Caesium, ImageOptim, etc.
https://github.com/fhanau/Efficient-Compression-Tool

But these are not online systems per se. For example, Squoosh is a browser extension. The conversion is done on the client side. Hence I say, that it makes more sense for the user to use their favorite tools to adjust the image, instead of using a system implemented by me.

As LoyceV commented, the most efficient systems that exist are native to PHP, which is GD or ImageMagick. They do their job well, but for those who like to see images always with quality - like me, I'm always a little reluctant to use these tools. Not to mention, that security is more exposed.

But I'm going to study the possibility of having an additional platform that performs these conversions and then sends the image to TalkImg. Wink

Yes... it's something that makes sense and I've even thought about it. The issue is that the web systems for resizing the image and reducing the size are not of very good quality. Even the most basic image editing programs are better at doing this than online systems.

Use ImageMagick and build your own? I won't be able to tell you how, but I'm confident you can figure that out with PHP: ImageMagick:
Imagick is a native php extension to create and modify images using the ImageMagick API.
This may be the reason you can't find good web systems, they can't beat this.

Feature request:
As the upload limit on Bitcoin Talk is 2.5 MB, now talking refuses images bigger than that.
Would it be possible instead to propose an “automatic resampling” to a lower size?
I.e. Uploading an image of 5 Mb with a 50% resizing would cause the resulting image to be in the accepted size range.
Does it make any sense?

But, it's something I might add in the future, if I can set up a system that is both efficient and quality.  Wink

I saw you mentioned about animation of past transactions in the other thread. Would you use it in your talkimg?

Edit: I can make an endpoint which would show the total received only. So if you move funds from this address, the total donated would stay the same. If you need, i can do it easily.

Glad you liked the result. I am grateful for the change in the API.
Yes, the idea was to use it on the website, where the first line would have the address - like now, and the second line the last donations passing every x in x seconds.

Really, this note of just indicating the balance received would be very interesting. It's possible?
In fact, would it be possible to have both indications: current balance and total balance received? Maybe that was too much information.  Undecided

Yes, of course.

I will make an endpoint just for talkimg website.

I will think about your needs and suggestions and make it in a few days.

Good going mate. I think I should make habit of using your service. For now I have bookmarked the website and will slowly keep using your services only. I was wondering why there are no google ads? I think you want to keep your website clean or have you not thought about it.
The donation is really nice thing from people, but I hope you can also go ahead of it and apply for Google Adsense. You will be able to get good revenue for yourself and for the future development of website.

Hope so we will see your website search engine optimized soon! Next time I put upload image it should be TalkImg coming up in the search results.  Cheesy

To the moon mate!

This is a project for the BitcoinTalk community. I trusted that the community will help me keep the project on the air, as it has done so far. I'm not going to use systems like Google Adsense, because that would just create "noise" on the site, and I don't want to. Not to mention the possible collection of information, which I don't want either.

But, I am available to have publicity coming from the forum, similar to what happens with subscription campaigns. By the way, this is already happening, this time with the sponsorship of Duelbits, which will soon have a new banner on the site.

Can you upload GIF here? I haven't tried it yet as I don't usually add images in my post unless needed. If not, I hope you can add that, that would be awesome.

Yes, it can be GIF upload. The only limit is not to exceed 2.5MB.

TalkImg supports all types of images accepted on the forum. Hope you enjoy using the service.

Hello joker_josue

I am happy to see you are using my api and the result fit very well in your website

If you need some other customization or some other api endpoint i can help you with that.

As for that button, I'll think about how to adjust it to be more predictable.  Wink
Simple fix is to add different color for reset box, maybe orange to match the color of TalkImg logo.
You could also play with moving the button in diffeent positions, more on left side, or no top bar.

I made some graphical tweaks, which I hope will improve the user experience.

Thanks again for everyone's support and suggestions.  Wink

I have older eyes and dark screens are terrible for me.

So on the front page which is now dark the donations amounts are next to invisible to me.
That's more of a contrast problem than a dark problem, it's a gray font on a gray background. Your monitor quality can make a large difference too: on my laptop I have to adjust my viewing angle to see it, on my monitor I can read everything.

nope I am color blind

a white background works with just about any color print

a black back ground sucks with many colors. since I am color blind.  his donations are in dark green (maybe) on black

not going to work well for me.

and with many other colors, black background sucks for me.

btw I have at least a dozen screens and all of them suck with the donation color in green ? maybe grey and black back ground.

edit the correction works fine. thanks

If you have time, try to modify the Resize image, as it is implemented at the image level without the ability to view the image after resizing and before uploading. you can add features such as making URL image

In general, if this is difficult, then resizing image through the code is better than image level

I suggest using the resize image option only as a last option.
It is always better to give preference to the option to resize via code. For this you have the option "BBCode full fix HxW".

In the future, more options may arise regarding this topic (but without a forecast date).

Why won't you just add switcher on your website? Like I did on a bitcointalk theme that I coded in a modern way: https://jaybates19.github.io/bitcointalk/
It's very easy to do with javascript but if you need any help, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Yes, that's what I'm going to try to do.

At the moment it is only being possible for those who have an account. I will try to put the option for all users.

As long as I can always have light I am okay with others that want dark.

I have older eyes and dark screens are terrible for me.

And I do not see a switch for light.

I was thinking of doing the test for a week, but I think it makes more sense to go back to the previous color pattern, as it allows for a better experience for everyone.

Apologies to anyone who likes the dark theme.

I'll try to dedicate a little more time to the layout of the site, and create a more balanced color pattern for everyone. Thank you for your patience.
