A seemingly simple victory for Djokovic, but if you look at the score, it wasn't that easy in the first set. Ruud took off like a rocket, but forgot to strike at the crucial moments and Djokovic now has his 23rd Grand Slam title. it is a pity that many supporters judge him on the basis of his attitude to the Corona policy, but he also has himself to thank for that. Purely as a tennis enthusiast it was a pleasure to watch him, but the match against Alcaraz was not a great moment due to the injury of the Spaniard.

I think we can officially say now that Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player of all time. He has better head to head with his biggest rivals. Most of the weeks as no1 and the most grand slams. The records keep on braking and the hardest match was against Alcaraz and that was easy for him aswell. He is also the main favorite by far on Wimbledon aswell and 24 GS titles are around the corner aswell.

I don't think Ruud is impressed at all, but the one chance he had during the 1st set was defended so well by Djokovic that it often breaks the will power of Djokovic's opponents right away. It is again another impressive and dominant game and I have to say after I saw the first set against Alcaraz I didn't see any chance for Ruud now. Even the 2nd set that Djokovic lost against Alcaraz was so strong that I couldn't imagine how Alcaraz would keep that level required to beat Djokovic for 3 sets. I now wonder how many more GS titles Djokovic is going to win.
We could guess that it was going to be Djokovic's game, but we expected Ruud to put up a fight and at least make things very difficult for Djokovic. Today is a great day for Djokovic and a big achievement for him and his team,  he has now surpassed Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Nadal still has sometime to play tennis when he fully recovers and may win another GS, but with Djokovic's injury challenges not as serious as Nadal's own currently that may make him consider an early retirement and not like Federer's own that put him into retirement, he may still win some more GS to make his record difficult to equal before he finally retires for the younger players to continue.

It is difficult to imagine that Nadal can really recover in so far as to again be able to win a GS title. Even in RG he would have to beat Alcaraz or Djokovic and the level that Djokovic played or that Alcaraz played in the 2nd set was so strong that it would really need the best Nadal ever. He now had an arthroscopy on his hip as well. I didn't even know his hip injured. I somehow missed that, but what isn't even injured on his body? As much as I would like to see him return to the tour and play some great tennis, my hope is dwindling.

Djokovic plays very well in the RG final and they don't give Ruud any chance. It seems to me that Ruud is too impressed by Djokovic and the atmosphere of the finals and that he is not yet ready to win big trophies, although he has potential and will probably win some GS in the coming years.
Djokovic is currently leading 2-0 in sets and I simply don't see any way Djokovic can lose this match.
It seems that we are about to witness tennis history as Djokovic will win a record 23 GS tournament in his career.
Very good match until now.

4.40 on Ruud today? Am I blind or what?

Sure, Đoković has got huge experience and yes - he did play really well even while Alcaraz was fully fit.
Still - Ruud really does have powerful shots that can break Đoković's defense and these odds seem pretty unrealistic to me.

Shame I lost it all on City handicap win yesterday, I'd be all over this. I still probably will - although my monthly gambling allowance has already been depleted Grin

There can always be an allocated extra budget for final matches. 4.40 is a really very high odd however I think Djokovic will get a comfortable win today. Still if we think that this is a Grand Slam final it is better to be cautious. I will also look for a live bet for Djokovic.

Swiatek won the first set 6-2. In the second set Muchova had an opportunity to win, she missed it and then made a comeback and won the set 7-5. Now the match have moved to the third set, this is interesting. After Stuttgart Open title win Swiatek lost Madrid Open final and lost Italian Open quarter finals match. Once again she had reached the finals and it favours her amidst the hard competence from Muchova.
It was impressive to watch the match until the end, the women's section didn't really count even when it was a Grand Slam final especially when you look at Swiatek's stats at the French Open, but Muchova made the difference and cost Swiatek a set in this tournament and it was the only set she has really struggling. Swiatek's statistics are also extraordinary, namely that she has made 4 Grand Slam finals to become a champion.

Men's final, Djokovic vs Ruud, this is Ruud's third Grand Slam final and with two defeats for sure he will try not to repeat it and Djokovic will probably face a tough fight as Djokovic is aiming for 23 Grand Slam titles, betting on over 3.5 sets with not so great odds but betting on Djokovic on the money line is even worse odds and betting on Ruud not so sure he can hold out Djokovic who has been successful enough to use his experience to put out the younger players he is playing against.

I agree with both of you that Swiatek will be the champion today, just hope Muchova doesn't let that happen easily, the final match should provide an interesting spectacle for tennis lovers. Muchova is not one of the players who is calculated to be able to perform optimally to finally reach the final and before defeating other favorites who were previously even predicted to be Swiatek's only strong challenger, so what she has achieved should not be let go so easily because Swiatek had faced difficulties when she faced Haddad Maia, so everyplayers have a chance to give a tight game today.
Bet on over 18.5 and hope Muchova is solid in her service game even though it doesn't have to go to 3 sets but at least there isn't a 6-0 score which is very unpleasant to watch in the final match.

Well currently its just one sided and Swiatek leads 5-2 in the first set and looks like she will take the set and the title pretty much without any hard work. For over 18.5 Muchova will need to work more and get some games but still its realistic that over comes in the second set.

Watched the entire match and it was just amazing. The first set Swiatek dominated as usual but Muchova woke up and won the second set and was playing really good in third set,but the quality of Swiatek is just high and she won yet another French Open and continues to hold the no1 position.

Also watched it and I must admit it was one of the best WTA finals this year (if not the best). Muchova resisted surprisingly well and there even was a chance for her to win the title. Swiatek lost focus completely in 2nd and 3rd sets and was broken several times. Unfortunately for Muchova, she started losing her serve games too. It was very similar to the semifinal vs Sabalenka but Muchova was in Sabalenka's shoes now. She couldn't keep several surely winning shots in and ended the match with a double fault.

P.S. Ruud vs Djokovic tomorrow guys! I will be betting on Djoko.

Yes it was great, I have to say Swiatek has the mark of a true champion when it
comes to Grand Slams, she was able to find an extra gear to overcome the onslaught
of Muchova. Normally I wait to do a bet on the favourite when they go behind or
are under pressure but I didnt have the courage to go with Swiatek.

Definitely with those odds he is worth a $1 wager at 4.5

But, Its Grand Slam Final day and Djokovic will be on another level especially for
his #23 GS win, I hope Ruud has learned a lot from his last final defeat!

There is no doubt this was one of the best final and both players done their best for the win but at the end Swiatek was superior and won the match into third set with now she is going to dominate for the long time if she keeps this momentum Muchova was also good, and she fights back in second set which was surely best from her but in third set we have too many problems for her with this all Swiatek smashed very good hopefully now after long time we will have one female player which will going to dominate on WTA with her quality and superior game as she won first set there were hopes we will have just 2 sets but Muchova done good fight back to bring herself back into game.

Swiatek is dominating womens tennis for more than a year now and she reinforced her position as the number one and she is only 22, but today final was really tight muchova really impressed us with her performance in this tournament and no one expected it at the begining of Rolland garros it seems that this is a begining of a new era for her since she is also young.
It is a missed opportunity. The match came into the hands of Muchova and she missed it. By the time she should've made more efforts and won the match. Being the No.1 always have its value. She made it really good with her comeback from 0-2 on the deciding set to win the set 6-4. Unlike other finals that go one-sided this time we had a perfect fight for the title.

Novak Djokovic is looking to capture his 23rd grand slam title and with the form he is performing throughout this tournament he will be etching his name in history once he wins this tournament. Historically Novak Djokovic has defeated Casper Ruud in their previous encounters and has a 100% win record and hence the odds are staked against Casper Ruud.

Alcaraz got injured in the third set and wasnt able to give his max until the very end and Djokovic took that advantage with his experience and destroyed Alcaraz in third and fourth set with same result of 6-1. Djokovic is too close to being the best in history. 23 grand slam title is around the corner.

But do you think that Alcaraz was quite surprised about the resistance from Djokovic and also about the strength and high level play in almost every single point? So far during the tournament Alcaraz was never really in trouble and he wasn't even used to major resistance. But Djokovic did not only resist Alcaraz' pressure, he also turned it against him all the time.

I can't of course know whether Alcaraz was really injured or not or whether the cramps were as severe as he said they were. But I watched the game and thought that Alcaraz never really had the conviction that he could leave the court as the winner. I don't want to call it an excuse when he mentioned those cramps, but he did realize that Djokovic is at his absolute best level and it needs so much more to win two more sets against him when it was 1-1.
