^ Yeah, looks like that's the one thing we forgot to consider in Nadal's excellence this year (and someone even was saying he was playing like a young man) --  his injuries past and his age. You can play at peak performance, in the form of your life, but your body doesn't forget.

I ended up putting a small bet on Nadal 2:1 and even tuned in for a quick peek before going to bed close to midnight, so seeing Fritz already won the first set made me think I could be on to something.

Think was 13/1 straight set win?

it wasn't Nadal's tournament after all
he had several matches where he played bad, but pulled through in the end
and last night it was simply not possible, he started really bad, two lost sets, tried to pull himself together, but you cannot make from 2:5 turnout every day (he should let first set, it would probably be better for his stamina), and in second set, he tried but did not succeed to get break in seventh game (it was a close one), and in the end had two servers to equalize on 1:1 (5:4 in tie break), but shots simply went out, to tired probably

Djokovic is back to no.1

Powerful win by Swiatek in the final, I really thought Sakkari was going to be stronger.
She is highly competitive and will be very hard to beat next time out. I didnt bet on either, I couldnt
call it because both were playing top Tennis on the lead up to the final.

Great win by Fritz over Nadal.
I checked the odds after the 1st set and put a small wager on Nadal @ 1.95 on ROLLBIT sports bettingvis now live!

I didnt see the match but it seems Nadal was injured in some way, anyway it was a
savage run in 2021 so far and no doubt he will win more.
Congrats to Fritz, thats his biggest career win.

“I had pain, honestly. I had problems breathing. I don't know if it's something on the rib, I don't know yet. When I'm breathing, when I'm moving it's like a needle all the time inside here. I get dizzy a little bit because it's painful,”

I hope this isnt too serious for Nadal

What about the women's final?

Not sure what to bet, but I just go with my guts over 21.5 with good @1.98 boosted.

This could end up in 3 sets, with a lot of rally from the two ladies, I wanted to go and bet on Sakkari ML, but we will see. Swiatek though is really playing high level so it's hard to bet against her.
Swiatek won the match on direct sets 6-4, 6-1 and this went as a very short game. Sakkari tried hard in the first set and in the second set she wasn't able to come back to the game. With this win Swiatek have moved to the world number two position. Earlier Swiatek and Sakkari have played four matches, among that three matches were won by Swiatek on direct sets. Once again the same have happened.

I watched the high lights of the game, Swiatek is in a roll, winning top 1000 master successively and then getting the number 2 spot in the division. Just the start of the year so I reckon that she can win more tournaments in the calendar. I thought that Sakkari will fight it out, but Swiatek is just too much as she has answered on everything that Sakkari throw at here.

Yeah, a lot is at stake in this match for Swiatek and she simply dominated Sakkari, never given her any chance for a comeback and no more three setter in this game.

It's seems that Swiatek remains consistent throughout this tournament.

On the men's side, Fritz handed Nadal his first lost in 2022 which a masterful two set win, 6-4, 7-6.

Nadal is playing above all expectations this year and has not lost a single match yet.
Due to frequent and long-lasting injuries, it seemed that Nadal was close to the end of his career, and now he already has 20 consecutive victories this year and is playing as a young man.
What happened to him? Did he find the elixir of youth?  Grin
It is already certain that Nadal will be the main favorite to win the GS in Roland Garros.
If that happens, then Nadal could make an unattainable difference in the number of GS victories ahead of Federer and Djokovic and fully deserve to take the GOAT title.
Due to his attitude towards vaccination, Djokovic reduced his chances for a record number of GS won.
What do you think?

It is crazy to see how good Nadal is playing this year; maybe now he is really pain free. He is always top candidate to win the title at Roland Garros so this year will be the same. On the other hand, in the Australian open final of this year, Medvedev had the chance of winning the title (2 sets up) but failed to do so.  I don't really feel bad for Djokovic that the can not participate in a number of tournaments, that are the consequences of his choice.

Fritz Nadal, straight set win for Nadal or Fritz handicap the way to go I guess?
Not betting before the match starts. If it is conditions like yesterday I am taking Fritz handicap since he is hitting flat balls and has big serve. Less influenced by the wind than Nadal top spins, slices and serves out wide on the advantage court when he takes people out of the pitch being left handed.

If the conditions are normal I am thinking Nadal has it much easier and bet on him to win in straight sets seems like the way to go. Anyway I don't see Nadal loosing this one even though Fritz has supporters on his side.

^No harm. I actually put a small bet on Alcaraz ML on fiat bookie, odds wasn't as great as I thought (2.3+) but I'm sure crypto lines would have been much better -- couldn't be bothered to try access my crypto accounts as was on the road. Didn't even realise conditions were like such and Nadal probably had some fluke in weather to thank (as you said, probably suited him more).

I decided to stay awake and watch Nadal vs. Alcaraz and now I am regretting it. This match should be postponed, I never saw tennis match played in conditions as windy as this. Most of the points don't even look like tennis. Players are just guessing how the ball will be affected. Seems like Nadal is coping with it a bit better. We just had 4 consecutive breaks of serve in 2nd set, that is something for top 10 ATP on hard court Smiley

I was able to watch the first 2 sets of the match and then... I falling asleep Smiley without edging my bet on Alcaraz.
Double mistake Smiley since I have placed a bet immediately before the first break point of first set!  Undecided
Yes it was definitely a strange match with strong wind. Both players have committed a lot of unforced errors, and in the end of second set Nadal was "pretty confused". I think the lack of experience of Alcaraz weighed... however it's clear he is a strong talent ready to be in top 3 in a couple years.

Didn't see the game, but as what @Trofo describe regarding the condition, at least they could have postponed the match.

Anyhow, Nadal is the better player again, winning in 3 sets. Surprising to see Fritz over Rublev, but I reckon that Nadal will take home the trophy in this tournament. Might be 2 sets win for him in the finals (if conditions are good).

Same as Bitbollo, I watched the first 2 sets, it was late here so I had to go to bed.

The conditions got really crazy but Nadal was going to won regardless. The first
set showed for me a few things again about Alcaraz, his service game needs to
improve, he lost far too many points on serve. He was well able to break Nadal but
was breakable himself.

Nadal it is evident again is able to find a way. I dont think I'll be betting against him
in the final.
So nobody watched 3rd set in the end Smiley I went to sleep after Alcaraz took the second, it was enough for my bet of at least one set for him pass and cover stakes for all bets. As I said it was the most secure one. In the end my handicap bet also just passed +3.5 and my ML bet failed but that one was for smallest stake so quite ok for me in the end.

''Maria Sakkari beat defending champion Paula Badosa to reach the biggest final of her career at Indian Wells.''
''Greece's Sakkari, who had previously won just two of her past 14 semi-finals, broke down in tears after overcoming the Spaniard 6-2 4-6 6-1.''
''"I'm turning 27 this year, which is not old, but not young as well, and I'm just more mature and things change in that age," Sakkari said.''

It seems that some players need a lot more time to mature and start achieving great results.
I'm glad for her, she deserved this success.
It seemed to me that Simona Halep had a good chance to reach the finals, but Swiatek still won in an uncertain match.
Swiatek is the obvious favorite in the final but surprises are always possible.
What do you think?

Maria Sakkari deserve the win, and tomorrow's final is going to be a big day for her. Being an young player Świątek will be tough one to play. As said surprises could happen, and I expect this to be a hard fight. Even the odds are on the side of Świątek @1.50 and Sakkari @2.70 and this can vary when surprise happens on the match. Lets see what's going to happen tomorrow.

Yeah, some athletes mature in this late 20's and won tournaments at about that age.

I watch Sakkari's highlights prior to this game and I said that it will be a tough one. And indeed it went to 3 set.

So it will be Sakkari vs Swiatek, another tricky match, haven't bet on it.

less than a year ago, on another type of surface, there was practically no competition, with Nadal winning 6-1 6-2.
this precedent does not make me so optimistic about the real possibilities of Alcaraz, enough to place a bet
It must be said that the conditions of play, and the status of the players have changed significantly in recent months.
they are very likely to fight, it will surely be a beautiful tennis match.
My faith in Alcaraz comes from watching him on this tournament. He looked great while Nadal did not look nowhere near his Australian Open performances. I am thinking he got a bit tired and maybe jaded and that he is ready for the loss. Despite all that if it comes to few important points Nadal will win simply on his experience and will power.

As I said before I have a couple of bets on Alcaraz but this will not be easy.

I see Alcaraz at +2.5 on Sportsbet so I'm just going for Alcaraz to win @ 2.24.

Its interesting that Nadal is still favourite even when not playing as well as he
is capable of and Alcaraz playing in good form.

Rublev is through to the other semi-final beating Dimitrov, he will face either Fritz
or Kecmanović, TBH I think he is good for the final. Interesting because he
has progressed to the semi without too much discussion about him.

It will be an intresting match between nadal and alcaraz for sure and will be an amazing match to watch . Also i think Kecmanovic can make a surprise again and knockout Fritz. Decent odd on Kecmanovic ,but lost the first set so hopefully he makes a good comeback

Same here mate, I thought that Kecmanovic can upset Fritz, and he almost did, he forced a tie break in the first set and then dramatically won the 2nd. However he completely lost the 3rd set, when I check the score it was already 5-0 and I don't know what really happen to him. He was strong throughout the second set and chances are high for him to win the third set because of that momentum. Didn't watch the match but maybe there's something wrong in him in the final set.
...
Nadal vs the heir apparent Alcaraz, will go Over 22.5 is my bet.
