Anybody watched first day of Davis Cup? Is it all played in same revenue and what is the turf? Would like to play some bets today and it is difficult without knowing how fast is the surface.

There was a lot of strange results yesterday so I'll probably try to continue in same way and place some handicaps on underdogs.

Not watching it, I cannot seem to find a channel where it is televised.
It is televised on local televisions for each country and some sports channels. I have coverage of several matches but the odds are rubbish and I can't place handicaps on all the matches I want. There simple isn't any markets.

Thanks for link, I see now they are played in different countries on different surfaces. I thought this will be same as last year, one venue for all of them but I guess that comes only in the final stage.

If you go to the Davis Cup site and go to the qualifiers link > https://www.daviscupfinals.com/qualifiers-2022

and click into a match you will get the surface type.
I have tried your +5.5 handicap tip twice during the week with good results so far
so yea I might do the same in some Davis Cup matches.

Well last time when Djokovic didnt have Vajda he was in deep trouble and couldnt win and was injured most of the time. The problem is that Djokovic has Ivanisevic aswell and this is why Vajda probobly left because of not going much to tournament at all. I dont think its due to covid at all

Quite surprising news given the time they already work together. Having a new coach will always bring new insights and tactics but it is not always a good choice to split with long time coaches. See Radanescu, she split with her coach after the US open win and since then, she hasn't really performed. She is offcourse young and there is a lot more pressure on her also.

Well not to forget that six out of twenty Grand-Slam titles have been won with Boris Becker as his coach. What will be interesting to see is whether Djokovic might now be going through a bad phase with all The Australian Open trouble, then the early loss now at the last tournament. He might benefit from a French law regarding the French Open, but right now I wonder whether he really might dominate the tennis world for another couple of years.

Maybe he just need to win one game, one tournament, how big and small just to get back again. For sure we've seen him recovered, from injury and some controversies and still win a title.

So we will see how he will do in the next quarter of the calendar, with a new coach and fresh outlook on the game, perhaps a new version of Djokovic will come out for the better.
a player like a djokovjc can get through tough situations like these, I even think that he could come out of nowhere to win the French Open when everyone are expecting Nadal to dominate since he made a crazy comeback from the break, I hope Nole will get back to his form to make every tournament entertaining with Nadal, Medvedev...etc

I do agree that he might recover, but I wonder whether he will get back to the best level he ever played on. Like literally the invincible. I am not so sure whether that is going to happen again,. While he loses the last tournament in the quarter finals, Nadal keeps on delivering and that might give a boost to Nadal. If he now also takes him his 1000th French Open title ( Tongue ), I think Djokovic might feel less motivated than we know him.

Interesting idea, maybe with the success of Nadal and how well he is playing
in 2022 so far Djokovic feels he needs to bring his tennis to an even higher level
if thats possible?
This is possible, but not with his very limited tournament participation. Soon things will change to normal life, and we can see the change. The vaccine has turned to be a big issue for him. To overcome the same itself he needs time.

As mentioned above Marian Vajda was only one part of the coaching team, I'm
sure Djokovic will be retaining other key people in his team.

Yes, he's part of the coaching team and now he have coach Goran Ivanisevic. The travel with coach Vajda have lasted for 15 years with an years break during 2017.

With Raducanu and Djokovic its completly different. Raducanu is a really young player and she fired here coach after she won out of nowhere her first tournament and a giant one. That decision was so stupid that she now deserves to play this bad honesty. While with Djokovic he knows Vajda so well that he thinks he cannot learn anything from him anymore.

Just heard the news that Djokovic has split with his long term 15 year coach Marian Vajda.

https://www.atptour.com/en/news/djokovic-vajda-split-march-2022

Could this

Quote
Djokovic began his season at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where Jiri Vesely upset him
in the quarter-finals. On Monday, Daniil Medvedev passed the Serbian for the No. 1 ATP Ranking.

have had anything to do with this move? or maybe there were tensions relating
to COVID vaccines in the team?

This is a big move, will it result in a short term lul in performance/winning
from Djokovic?

I am thinking that the Ukranian players are even more driven now to win their
matches. Svitolina after beating Potapova said she would be sending any prize
money she gets to Ukraine to help the war effort.

I also watched the match last 2 sets between YastremskaUkraine and
Bogdan Romania. Bogdan had match point in the second set but Yastremska
battled hard to bring that set to a tie break and won it, same in the 3rd set to
take the match.

The war may affect the Russian players more negatively maybe because of
the case that the whole world is criticising Russia.

I would think a lot of Russian and Ukranian (especially Ukranian) sportspeople might be somewhat distracted at the moment, and so not competing at 100%. Obviously sport is not the most important thing in the world, and when something like this is happening, sportspeople are trying to continue, but it's not surprising if their results are affected.

Interesting theory...
We have seen a lot of emotional reactions by athletes from several competition and probably the events of these days could have an impact... but it's really hard to estimate at what level this would impact. These are professional players, earning a living from these activity mostly of their times living abroad and so on...
I don't know if we have recent examples by professional players from other conflicts....

Nadal comeback was strong recently he had a comfortable win against medvedev 2 0 and today he won against norrie with 2 0 again and he won his second consecutive tournament it seems that we will see a tough competition in the next grand slam especially against djokovic since he will try to be even in term of grand slam won.

Tremendous from Nadal, yes, and you'd expect him to beat Norrie every time. The Medvedev match though I think needs to be considered with regard to the Russian invasion of Ukraine... The first article on the sports news on this mornings radio was Svitolina v Potapova.
Svitolina didnt want to play Potapova under the Russian flag. The match in the end
went ahead with Potapova playing under a neutral flag and Svitolina dressed in the
Ukrainian colours. Svitolina was super pumped and won 6-2, 6-1

Here is one tip of the blue which I just played and included on some of my multi tickets. This one is not for big stake since it is based just on stats and I haven't seen these girls play recently.
Kate Boulter to take at least a set @1.7
Kate Boulter ML @2.9
Kate Boulter to win 2:0 @5.0

Kate is good in these conditions and she won low level futures last week. Konjuh is a better player but this is her first indoors match this year so maybe we can have a nice surprise.

And she won in 3 sets 7-5, 0-6, 3-6
Thats some multi bet combination Trofo, well spotted and good analysis.

I have a few straight bets on for tomorrow in Monterrey, I'm a bit fearful of
betting on the womens tennis because its so open and I normally bet on the
favourites, which means less in the womens game I think.

Anyway I have Stephens to beat Sherif, Keys to beat Martic,
Fernandez to beat Schmiedlova and in Lyon Cirstea to beat Bolkvadze.

I would love to try some handicaps but I'll wait for 1 or 2 more rounds I think.

Basically never take middle handicap @1.85, take one that pays @1.6 and you will pass much more often. This brings to my only problem with Sporstbet and them offering only middle handicap. Going to write about it in their thread once more Smiley

have to stop reading your posts, or I am back to betting, while I do want to stay on beer-money bets for fun
joking aside, it could be seen that you analyze all things about sports and odds, and yeah, that was almost identical to my thinking when I was more to betting

no ATP tournaments next week, set for Indian Wells
There's Davis cup this week and WTA Lyon happening starting Monday. Is there any news on Djokovic and if he's being allowed to play the US tournaments? It would be a shame to see him miss out on yet another tournament.

and also a 250 tournament in Monterrey Mexico, qualifying is taking place
for the second day today and I see Leyla Fernandez is scheduled to play tomorrow,
she is seeded #2, Svitolina is on tomorrow seeded #1 and Madison Keys also tomorrow
seeded #3. I might throw a few bets on this tournament.
