Wasn't able to really see some matches yet, only some highlights, but too bad that Goffin is already out in the first round with 3-0. He used to be a (very) good player, even reached the top 10, but the last couple of years he is only a shadow of himself...

TBH it is looking a bit unpredictable bar Barty, Muguruza, Medvedev and Zverev,
thats how it feels to me so im holding off with betting tomorrow.
Not many value matches tonight but I have to play something so I went with:
Karatsev ML @1.55, I am a bit afraid of his tendency to make unforced errors but he is much better player
Bencic ML @1.6, odds are this high because her opponent has a nice win streak but Benici is 4 times better player so i expect her to get this easy
Ram/Salisbury to win 2:0, they are playing against guys who never played a professional doubles match so should be a slam dunk

Well, Raducanu won in the women's, which surprised me a bit as she is coming back from Covid. But it turns out Sloane Stephens was also coming back after a break, so was a bit rusty. Very difficult to gauge the level players are at so early in the year.

Nice win for Andy Murray, too, I'm very happy for him to win again at the tournament where a few years ago it looked like he would retire from tennis.
However it was a 5-setter, and last year showed that he struggles to maintain performance across a lot of matches in a short span of time, so he may suffer more than expected in the next round.

Yes great win for Andy and Emma, a lot of people wouldnt have predicted either.

A few casualties today IMO, Fernandez is out by Inglis from Australia and Kvitova
knocked out by Cirstea, and also Kerber knocked out early. Really dissapointed for Leyla,
I was expecting more from her.

Ouf, missed a really big special earlier with Medvedev. Needed him to win straight, but also the first set 6-0, as I suspected he'd go for a strong, strong start. Won the first set but 6-1, so missed out.

So far no surprises in either men's or women's to my untrained eye.

FYI there's a good Bitsler promo on 12 market. Lead by 4 games at any point and your bet refunded if your pick loses.

Harriet Dart came through on Friday, so I'm going to place another wager on her and a couple of others I missed:

Iga Swiatek - Harriet Dart       Match Winner    Harriet Dart @ 8.51    Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC    Possible Payout: 0.26 mBTC
Hailey Baptiste - Caroline Garcia    Match Winner    Caroline Garcia @ 1.41    Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC    Possible Payout: 0.04 mBTC
Stefanie Voegele - Daria Kasatkina    Match Winner   Stefanie Voegele @ 6.96   Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC    Possible Payout: 0.21 mBTC

Bit of a blood bath on those pics.

Some pics for tomorrow's matches.

Samantha Stosur usually tanks by the semis, but I'll give her another turn (it's only round two after all).  She's done fairly well with a doubles partner, Zhang who she was teamed with last year and they did fairly well, so I'm going to put a wager on them too.

Not sure how I forgot to place a wager on Madison Keys in the first round, so I've made up for it in the second round.

Women's Singles

Madison Keys - Jaqueline Cristian Match Winner Madison Keys @ 1.21 Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.04 mBTC
Victoria Azarenka - Jil Teichmann Match Winner Jil Teichmann @ 3.36 Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.10 mBTC

Women's Doubles

Belinda Bencic - Amanda Anisimova Match Winner Belinda Bencic @ 1.56 Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.05 mBTC
Danilina/Haddad Maia - P. Badosa/E. Rybakina Match Winner P. Badosa/E. Rybakina @ 1.70 Taken Amount: 0.03 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.05 mBTC - CANCELLED
Kostyuk/Yastremskaya - C.Gauff/C.McNally Match Winner C.Gauff/C.McNally @ 1.14 Taken Amount: 0.04 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.05 mBTC

He is looking sharp, yes. And he did win the Melbourne Summer Set tournament the other week. A contender for the title, or is that going too far? It's is difficult to know where all these players are at, quite a few of them seem to have had Covid over December, some come back below par, some seemingly right at their best... the Norrie/Korda match is a good example of this, you'd expect it normally to be fairly close, but both players had their preparations disrupted by positive Covid tests, which seems to have affected Norrie more. Might make the betting a little more unpredictable this year.
In principle, Giron has not set unsolvable tasks for Nadal and Rafa should be pleased that the match was won in three sets and no extra effort was spent to achieve a positive result. As far as I know, Nadal did not give any of his serves in the match, but let's not forget that the opponent is only number 66 in the world. On the other hand, while it can be argued that the transferred COVID does not seem to have had a very negative effect on Nadal's game and fitness, but it will be possible to talk about this with confidence later. However, historically Nadal has only one title in Australia in 2009, which on the one hand indicates less chances, but on the other hand this fact may be the opposite to spur the player.

The fact that Djokovic is out now from Australia Open, means one less opponent for Rafa to worry about.

But in this match, he looked quite fit and sharp which I liked a lot. I didn't even think he would be this much fit. Even though it's against a number 66, a win like this is always appreciable as he is aging a lot, and I'm glad that the match didn't go longer as he needs to stay fresh for the next matches, right? Congrats to him for the great win.

I too felt that Rafa played with more confidence and ease in comparison to his performances seen in 2021, and maybe the fact that Djokovic is out of his way is kind of a motivation for him. Further it’s early to say if he can build on this form, and go on to win the tournament but I’m rooting for him despite knowing very well that his chances to win are slim.

What is happening with Goffin? A few years ago he looked destined to be a top 10 player, Evans blew him off the court.
Evans is a decent player, but Goffin took only 7 games - losing the last set 6-0.

I know he missed the end of last season due to constant knee problems and he forfeited recently against Murray, but I did not expect him to lose by such a margin.

I hope he recovers, he is a really talented player.

Some picks for the night:
Rinderknech to win against Popyrin @ 1.72, he is in much better form and I feel like Popyrin will gift this one away with loads of unforced errors
Machac -6.5 @1.65, he is in great form and i hope he will be able to cover this handi, also good bet and maybe a bit safer is set handicap -1.5
Berankis to win @ 1.5
Schwarzman set handi -1.5 @1.6
Gomez + 8.5, Ćilić rarly manages to win with such big handicaps but this one is risky, I am playing it only for low stake
Rublev and Sinner to win 3:0 or cover 7.5 handi, should pass for both

Meanwhile (it feels like all my posts in this thread contain the phrase 'BREAKING NEWS!'), so i'll continue the trend here...

Breaking News!!!
The French sports minister has announced that all athletes will have to be vaccinated in order to attend and compete in sporting events in France.

Yea I saw this on Euronews today, I thought it was just a proposal but there we
are, trouble ahead for Djokovic.

The Djokovic case seems to have created a snowball that could soon roll across all sports.
People want to watch sports events, but if athletes do not want to vaccinate and follow the regulations, the organizers will be in very difficult situation, because sooner or later governments will have to ban tournaments. So to avoid this, all sports federations will now have to be very strict.

Yes nadal performance is looking good he can make it far in this tournament but winning the title is a really difficult task i dont think he will be able to in my opinion it will be either medvedev or zverev they are dominating right now and if they are not affected by covid i think we might see one of them as a champion.

I'm out of funds on Sportsbet and not sure whether to change to a different
site because I cannot bet on Rugby with them.
Only other site I am comfortable to shill on people is Stake.com, but I doubt they have Rugby if Sportsbet does not. They are both using same odds provider but markets differ sometimes. For instance Stake offers 3 margins for tennis handicaps while Sportsbet offers just one. Stake has a bit higher regular odds usually but when you apply boost on Sportsbet you get much better odds there. So it all comes down to your preferences. I am using just Sportsbet now but I was almost exclusively on Stake about 2 years ago.

Will edit the post in an hour with tips for tonight. Just browsing trough the markets now.

Some games I played:
Alcaraz to win 3:0 @2.1
Mofiels -7.5 @1.75, this one could end up as forfeit and void bet easy so be careful if you need the game for some bonus
Carreno Busta to win 3:0
Kokkinakis set handicap -1.5 @1.6
Azarenka -5.5 @ 1.6
Very happy how the first day went, everyone apart from Kokkinakis passed easy. Can't believe Kokkinakis lost 3:0 in sets, a guy withe serve like his should be able to at least get himself to tie break on his home tournament. I watched him against Cilic the other day and he was super solid, definitely more than enough to pass somebody like Hanfmann.

Well done Trofo, good result for today for you.

a three-year ban from coming to Australia.
because of what happened and his age, Djokovic probably lost the chance to ever perform again at the Australia GS.

I don't think they'll apply the 3-year ruling. They've already made some conciliatory comments about that. I would expect he'll be there next year (unless the pandemic is still going on...).

The French sports minister has announced that all athletes will have to be vaccinated in order to attend and compete in sporting events in France.

Quote
The French sports minister, Roxana Maracineanu, has announced that athletes would not be exempt from France’s Covid pass, which will soon come into effect for over 16s. “The vaccination pass has been adopted. As soon as the law is promulgated, it will become mandatory to enter public buildings already subject to the health pass (stadium, theatre or lounge) for all spectators, practitioners, French or foreign professionals”

So the way it's going, he won't be able to compete at the French Open, either. Next stop Wimbledon?

Congrats for some good wins even I am not good supporter of tennis betting because it's never been good for me as happen in this but still very good selections from your side specially I love Alcaraz and Carreno Busta but sadly put these all in parlay which was big mistake and give not good retune after Kokkinakis, but small bet with just two above players give better result which was good encouragement at the end of this all hopefully try with some other way in future if I have time for checking these tennis matches here and live sadly right now due to some personal commitments not able to give more time for this all.
