Nadal will want to convince everyone 4 hours definitely will have taken its toll on the man, but I feel like this just made him an even stronger contender. Not sure of the routes but does anyone know if he gets to meet Tsitsi if both get past QFs? That's still something I haven't quite figured out how to look for.

Shapovalov vs Nadal surely it's going to be very cracker match because history is also having some interesting facts both have 2 - 2 in last four matches and after giving shocking defeat to Zverev now his confidence is very high, and he can do another upset against clay king Nadal, but it's going to be not easy for any player.

Definitely didn't disappoint. A bit surprised this didn't end up as an epic final set, but gotta give credit to the Canadian for showing up (albeit only to delay the inevitable).

After the Madison Keys win I was able to see most of the first two sets and Nadal looked like he was in a trance (not focused, just trance like) while his oponent was trying to channel his inner JohnMcEnroe.

I don't think even McEnroe would ever have used the word "corrupt" but yeah pretty grinworthy Wink

And another 3-6 set to Nadal and into the semi's he goes just as Trofo I think
predicted a week ago.

I nearly did the same thing I did a couple of days ago.  I logged into nitrogensports.eu and was about to start placing bets on my list of women's games I feel will win then realised I'd done wagers for the day prior, but had included the following day too.

Which is Okay when they win as they had been doing, tough when they loose as a few of my selections have done yesterday.

Hmmm, Havent done that myself yet. Yea fine if they are winners!

^^ Nadal won the first 2 sets very easy, 6-3,  6-4, but Shapovalov turn on the heat on the last 2 and now leading the 4ths set 4-2 and serving.

So by the looks of it, we are going to see a final set, I have Nadal winning here by ML, super boost on Sportsbet and I put a decent money because I think Nadal will have a 3 set win. But now it's going to be a tough match for him and he will be extended in 5 sets for the first time in this tournament.

Just watching the live scoring on Google, this is looking like another 5 setter.
Shapovalov has done well so far in this match to get it to 5-3 in the 4th set.
This could go either way.

...so its gone to a 5th set, it seems even enough based on set results

3-6
4-6
6-4
6-3

EDIT :::::

And another 3-6 set to Nadal and into the semi's he goes just as Trofo I think
predicted a week ago.

Do you think Rafa will have extra motive to win this year, I know it will
be tricky for him but to win this 21st slam and get one up on Roger and Novak
will be something very special. ?
Rafa will have extra motive but I don't think he has a chance. Medvedev, Zverev and quite possibly a couple more players like Rublev, Berettini and Sinner have much better hard court form at the moment. Despite his age I still think best of 5 works in Nadal favor so Nadal will do well but I don't see him getting to the final. Semi final seems like most probable exit point for him since he has solid draw.

snip

Lets see if he can go at least 1 step further.

After few hours we are going to have another very exciting match between Krejcikova vs Keys even Krejcikova is doing very good from start of this tournament but Keys hard work also paying good dividend as she is also doing very good in this event and have equal chance to reach into last four.
It will probably be a good match, but in the long end, given how good Nadal is playing this tournament, he will probably win it in 3 or 4 sets. I didn't expect Zverev to loose also.
In the long end Tsitsipas won with 6-4 against Fritz; next round he will play against Sinner.
I am not at all sure that Nadal will have an easy match with Shapovalov, despite all the matches already held at the tournament. Although, of course, it is in Nadal's interests to finish his matches as soon as possible due to his not so young age  Wink Still, this court cover is not a crown for Rafa, despite all his successes on the fast surface. Although I sincerely wish Nadal success in this match and go as far as possible in this tournament. Tsitsipas had a tough five-set match and at times was not as convincing as his American opponent. But still, in the end, Taylor Fritz faltered, making mistakes at key moments in the endings of the fourth and fifth sets and allowed Tsitsipas to become the last participant in the quarterfinals.

Čilić was playing well - but if you lose both tie-breaks you will eventually lose the match. Aliassime was better in the key moments and in tennis that is often the difference.

I'm most looking forward to Nadal - Shapovalov, Shapovalov was fantastic against Zverev. I will go as far as to consider him a favorite.
Shapovalov performance improved in this tournament by each passing game his game against zverev was the best so far but will he be able to perform that well again against nadal i highly doubt that i would go with more than 3 sets for this game since i think it will be competitive.

Competitions for women can often go either way. Service is much less determining. In the past there were a number of players with hard serves, the Williams sisters for example. I don't see a favorite yet for the women's win at the Australian open. With the men it should be that Russian but he had a hard time in the last round. Nadal is also doing well and a mountain of experience. I have read somewhere that Djokovic could lose his number 1 ranking in the world.

Shapovalov v Nadal should be a absolute cracker of a match. Shapovalov
played excellently to knock Zverev out. I watched some highlights and it seemed
Zverev had no answers to Shapo's game plan. Can he reproduce the goods
against Nadal though?

^^ Yeah, the Tsitsipas vs Fritz match is already a 5 setter now, Tsitsipas comes back in the 4th set to even it up. Unfortunately, he is down in the 5th set but he is serving so still a good chance for him, but Fritz is absolutely playing good tennis and has a counter every time.

Shapovalov might cause another stir in the tournament if he will get over Nadal in their next game. It will be brilliant if this happens for a underdog.

Monfils vs Berrettini on the other QF, who you guys got here?

I knew that this is going to be a close match, and I'm predicting a 5 set match. But FAA really played very well in the 3rd set and then close out Čilić in another tie-break.

I'm most looking forward to Nadal - Shapovalov, Shapovalov was fantastic against Zverev. I will go as far as to consider him a favorite.

With the way Nadal is playing right now, he will still be the favorite against Shapovalov here. Maybe another 3 sets win for Nadal.

Tsitsipas vs Fritz still very close in the 3rd set, no breaks yet. score 3-3, might go for a tie break.

This is looking like going all the way to a 5 setter. Its the 4th set now 5-3 to
Tsitsipas, if he wins this set its 2 each

Firstly I have to congratulate Aliassime for getting the win. I haven't chance to watch the match, but from the score, I can say that even though Aliassime had a bad start to the match, he recovered quite well and eventually took the match away from Cilic.

On the other hand, Shapolov seems on a good knock and I think I won't be exaggerating if I said that he might have the edge over Nadal in the upcoming match.

@Yaunfitda yeah managed to tune in a little but work's a bit tough on Mondays so I'm going to have to wait till a bit later to see if I can catch it, but hopefully Tsitsi gets out of this intact before then.

Saw that Cilic, Halep, Mertens some of the bigger names out today (least to my eyes, not even sure if they two girls were the favourites in those matchups but didn't recognise their opponents).

I put a little stake on Tsitsipas vs Fritz live betting just now at -2.5 for Tsitsipas for 1.96 boosted odd.

This is not Tsitsipas strong suit, but I think he will manage to win the game tonight.

It's 1-1 actually so it's a 3rd set and going to be crucial as obviously, the winner of this set will have one feet already on winning the match.

Halep out and it was suprising result, when she was able to clinch the second set I thought she would win the match but the third set she made a lot of errors, Cornet played well this time and this became a record for her, first time to get to the GS quarterfinals throughout her participation.
