I switched to check out Barty - Giorgi match a bit since I knew that one will be much shorter so I did not see much of second set. Now back to Osaka match, must say I am impressed by Anisimova, she is hitting the ball beautifully. I knew she had good results but this is first time I am actually watching her play. Osaka has a serve advantage and that is it. This will be a very close match.

Disappointed to check back and see her lose even with serve advantage but yes Anisimova (spelled wrong first time) definitely well worth her tie-breaker. Didn't watch as had to tune out but just saw highlights now -- only problem is her service, either really good, or really poor, thankfully for her Osaka didn't return well, and in the end I was wrong about her nerves settled, she still looked like she gave up too many times. Well done on your win, would have followed you if not for some wallet mismanagement =)

Epic, still, and I've no skin left in this GS except for good ol' Tsitsi but he'll be playing way too early for me to watch.

Also watching US v Japan. But yee yikes Osaka, started as strongly as expected, but Asimova claimed a fine set to take it to third, and it seemed for a flash or two like Osaka was happy to give up the second set to focus on third, least it seemed that way to me, agree Trofo?

Thought it was going away already with two early points surrendered at the net (and 2 won from Asimova out of bounds) but once the first game was won, nerves seem a bit settled. Asimova is killing herself with way too many double faults... but now I have to stop watching, so hope Osaka closes this out, while Barty does look like having a close 2nd set too...

P.S. I'm not Timelord, only time I ever bet on women's tennis is 2:1 wins like today Wink

They are in the 4th set now, Berrettini took the first two. I was going to bet on Alcaraz
but to me they are quite even so I couldnt make a call on which one.

Similar to the womens side, I find it hard to pick winners, my last pick Muguruza is out,
and I have Osaka to win later.

@Timelord2067 seems to be happy enough with a lot of bets on the women though.
Timelord prefers to watch women it seems, I get that, much easier on eyes than men side Smiley I just can't understand how he can win any money on them Smiley

I watched last 2 and a half sets of Alcaraz - Beretinni and I can't believe Italian managed to win it. It looked like Alcaraz took all the momentum on his side after loosing first 2 sets and then he fell apart in the middle of tie break. Don't get me wrong Berettini played some very nice points but than Alcaraz gifted some more.

Now watching Osaka - Anisimova, some serious hitting in this one and this could go both ways. Osaka 1 set up but I just placed a small bet on Anisimova @6.5 to try and get an upset. If Osaka wins I get 0.25 mBTC free bet on that Sportsbet promo so I am winning either way.

It's a tough one for Tsitsipas, the game scored: 7-6, 6-7 going into the 3rd set. So it will be tough for him to cover that spread, just saying.

I caught most of the third set and thought Tsitsipas was doing well, then you could just see he was rattled and shouting to himself for clumsy errors (serves, returns) I'm sorry I wasn't able to see how it turned out.
{..snip..}

Yes, in the end Tsitsipas won the match but the handicap was not covered so I lost my bet here.

I haven't put any bet yet, but it looks like a Garin vs Monfils will be a good one. I'm watching it right now and both are playing good.

Kecmanovic vs Sonego is also playing, just glad that this is on my time zone so I can watch the game live.

The Sonego vs Kecmanovic is already on the 4th set. Kecmanovic serve and volley is on point and Sonego has no answer on it. However, Sonego is leading the 4th set 3-1, Kecmanovic serving, I wouldn't be surprised to see it going into a gruelling 5th set. And I'm thinking that Kecmanovic might pull an upset to the 25th seed here.

Another very good but close match is Alcaraz vs Berrettini.

Medvedev on the other hand did seriously well to beat the audience again, he really
cannot be phased by this, mentally strong. He is someone who has changed his game
and mentality and is benefiting from it.
I have a different feeling about his mentality. I still think he is prone to self destruct and that he did not do much on that front. He did however improve all parts of his game and now he is good enough that he very rarely gets into situations which can trigger the breakdown. I will not be convinced for the mental aspect until I see his match when the result and luck does not go his way. It is easy to look composed when result is in your favor and opponents do not pressure you over the limits Smiley

That is why I miss Djokovic, he is a perfect mental test for every player on the tour.

Murray vs Daniel will also be next, Andy is the favourite per ML, but I will go over 35.5 @1.91 boosted. I think this will be an extended game and will not be easy for Murray to win.

As we might have expected, Murray is struggling and is a set down against an opponent ranked #120 in the world.
The problem is not his ability, it's his recovery... a long 5-set win in the last round against a top player was always going to take it out of him, it's the same as we saw last season, a great win against a top player is almost always followed by a real struggle against a much lower ranked player.

I feel bad for Murray, but from a betting perspective there is a clear pattern.
He is down 0-2 sets already, but leading in the 3rd set, maybe he will rally in the 3rd and at least win a set. But it's going to be very difficult for him it this is going to last for a 5th set. And if ever he will win, he will have to fight the next day and we all know that as we gets old the recovery of our body is slowing down.

As for the over bet, well at least Murray needs to win this set so that you will get a win. But if Daniel wins, then the bet is lost.
Murray lost that break and it does not look good for him. Wanted to watch a  bit of that match but how when there is Medvedev - Kyrgios on at the same time? Some really interesting shots in this one, Kyrgios with his under arm serve and some great volleys, both with some strange but effective shots, good serving and even better returning. And of course Kyrgios complaining about serve clock, public, ref....you know the drill. Great watching for sure.

Ah here we go again with Kyrgios and his antics, it doesnt doesnt do him any good,
he still lost. He needs to re-focus on his mentality and game, he has great talent
but just wrongly applied.

Medvedev on the other hand did seriously well to beat the audience again, he really
cannot be phased by this, mentally strong. He is someone who has changed his game
and mentality and is benefiting from it.

I had him to win do thats good but my other one on Muguruza not unfortunately.

If someone was going to win against Medvedev its was Nick Kyrigos but i guess a lot of time of the field had its effect on him and his mentality. Also women tennis is so unpredictable that we should mostly stay away from betting on it . So many favorites losing sets and getting knocked out

Shame about Raducanu losing. IIRC she did have a problem with a blister vs Sloane Stephens, but it really became a major issue today. TBH I'm quite impressed with how she managed to stay in the match and adapt her play to compensate for the discomfort and still be competitive. And her attitude is very good I think. Some people will look at the result and think 'oh, she's lost in an early round again', but actually there is quite a bit more to the story (particularly as she has also only just come back from Covid). I do think she'll have a very strong 2022.

Did you guys see the point when Busta made a break today? Never seen something like this, his opponent hit smash with border of the racket and ball got wicked rotation and jumped back into his own half. Busta saw what will happen and run around the net to make the point. Everything by the rules but very rare to see.

No, but I watched it on YT and yea its a very strange one, Pablo did well to read that
play and win the point making sure not to touch the net himself.

Griekspoor's smash off the racket frame created massive backspin so as it bounced in
to make the point it headed back over the net, Carre o Busta had to hit that point to win,
it doesnt matter from where.

https://youtu.be/KKw0DdCFbM0

Wow i never seen anything like this in my life this is something that is for the first time seen in tennis history honestly.
But i dont know how legal it is i think there is a rule if your racket goes over the net into the opponents field you lose the point i think. He went around but still was in his half. I dont know if im on point but still this is insane.

Yeah, how insane it is, but I think it is legal as long as the racquet didn't touch the net.

Tsitsipas vs Baez in the next 30 minutes, I put a good bet on Tsitsipas -8.5, I think he can cover this handicap against Baez.

Alcaraz vs Berretini - this might be a good game to watch, and I'm betting on the over on this game as this game might extend to either 4 or 5 sets.

It's a tough one for Tsitsipas, the game scored: 7-6, 6-7 going into the 3rd set. So it will be tough for him to cover that spread, just saying.

Murray vs Daniel will also be next, Andy is the favourite per ML, but I will go over 35.5 @1.91 boosted. I think this will be an extended game and will not be easy for Murray to win.

Although Murray made a return but I doubt that he will ever be able to get back to his top form.
Agree or not, I feel like he has left his golden past way in the past, and now all he should do is play for fun. As I don't think that he will be able to compete against A-tier players to win any tournament. Even last game he was struggling. His pace has declined a lot and so has his strength.

With all his injuries and his operations, it is already a small miracle that Murray is still playing at this level. He will never be able to get back to his old level and he will be able to win some matches (even against A-tier players), but I don't think he is (physical) capable to go all the way anymore.
