Any tips for today boys? I've just done a probably-dumb bet against Nishikori -- not that I hope players are always injured, hate to hope that for an athlete, but he has had his off days and thinking this could be it. Trying to catch something live if I have time -- like Tsitsi when he was a set down against Murray yesterday was even 4/1 IIRC but the games today are too late for me to do anything proper.

Kyrgios got hammered today by Bautista. Straight sets, no chance at all for a comeback.

I'd always pick Bautista in a match like this, they have such opposing playstyles and although he's way more talented, Kyrgios does not have the patience needed for players like Bautista. He will bore him all day, return the shots he needs to and play like a boring robot, making Kyrgios miss way more shots than usual.

Bottom line - I really don't like Kyrgios so I'm glad he's out.

~snip

But he gave everything he can and Tsitsipas was almost on the brink after the 3rd, but he was able to gather himself in the last 2 and win the game.

still, it is a promising match for Murray, and he obviously wants to get back, despite all the issues that he has
on the other side, it is a question mark on all this younger generations, since even the old and injured Murray is good enough to get Tsitsipas (one of the best at the moment) shivers, where is tennis going? it is not that Murray was from the other world when he was at his best, and he will probably end up within top10 with artificial hip, not a good sign for tennis future

Some strange results today, for me the biggest surprise was Humbert loosing.

Murray took the first set and has solid chance to take the second in tie break. If he does I am placing a bet on Tsitispas at great odds. Have a feeling like Murray is slowly loosing his sharpness while Tsitisi is playing better and better. In my opinion Murray must win this 3:0 or he looses the match so odds have big value for me.

Humbert losing is probobly the biggest shock currently of the first round.Tsitsipas also after losing 2-1 in sets currently breaked Murray in 5th set and is looking promising for Tsitsipas. Also didnt expect Millman to lose in straight sets against Laaksonen.
Did not place the main bet in the end since Tsitsi won second set and I never got those super value odds. Feeling sorry for Murray, his level of play yesterday would have been enough for win against 95% of players in the tournament. Just shows how much harder it is to get back once you lose your ranking and seed status.
Exactly, just say that the way he played is not enough to beat the version of Tsitsipas. If he had a draw like in the lower rank, perhaps he can advanced next and see how it goes.

But he gave everything he can and Tsitsipas was almost on the brink after the 3rd, but he was able to gather himself in the last 2 and win the game.

Murray's play yesterday was fantastic, he showed far more variety than Tsitsipas and his
service game was brilliant but after finally getting broken in the 4th set the errors started
increasing. TBH I considered cashing out my bet a few times because Murray looked like
he was going to win.

All my other bets apart from Humbert and Fokina won so it was a good day with the Tennis bets.

I totally agree with you, so now that Tsitsipas won the second set, his confidence is through the roof, especially after he defended two set points, I think it's done now and he's going to dominate the rest of the match, Tsitsipas -2.5 is my bet in the third set.

Yes its all go now, just watching Monteiro v Evans now and winding up to the
Murray v Tsitsipas match.

There are sooo many attractive matches on today its hard to know what to prioritise.

On the womens side Keys v Stephens seems to be a great match, its currently heading
for a tie break in the 3rd.

I have a parlay on Rybakina, Krejčíková, Azarenka, Osaka and Sabalenka.

Tricky on the first set, usually Tsitsipas starts very strong in the first set.
Yes I agree with this Tsitsipas is a very strong player in the first set, French Open final prove it, but everything can change that because his opponent has enough stamina to turn things around, and also last year's US Open where he also very strong in the early set against Borna Coric also a couple match points but ended in defeat, but this opponent that can change the game should have good stamina.
Over 3.5 sets that I chose, the ML odds on Tsitsipas in this match are very low.
Yeah, ML is so low and not very attractive indeed.

I like exact sets (4) @3.20. Maybe Andy can win at least one here and it will be Tsitsipas to take the 3.

I also like the Rublev vs Karlovic under 32.5 @1.96.

So US Open will be full swing tomorrow my time, so I'm excited to see some good match.

At Arthur Ashe Stadium there's immediately room for the American derby between Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens, a match that was the final in 2017. Then there's the most awaited challenge of the entire first round between Andy Murray (champion in 2012, ages ago) and the Greek revelation Stefanos Tsitsipas, one of the big favorites for the final victory. In the evening session debut for the defending champion Naomi Osaka, who will challenge Marie Bouzkova and then there will be Daniil Medvedev (one of my favorites) against Richard Gasquet.
For bettors like us there's ample choice!

^ I guess every young generation of tennis players have big respect to the big 3 or big 4 that's why most of the time they can't beat them because of that mentality, (I'm not saying it's bad). But Murray's game has deteriorated so much after coming back from the injury that we all know that it's just a matter of time before he retires for good. Of course, it's still not an easy game for Tsitsipas and he shouldn't underestimate Murray in their match.

I dont like hearing it the Big 4 ,because Murray isnt even close with all of the achivements to the Big 3. Yes he won some big titles while they were dominating but he didnt keep winning titles every year like them. Now Murray just plays big tournament with wild cards and always get knockout in the first or second round.

True, but there were times that only this 4 players are winning the grand slam events for years. It's just unfortunate that the youngest one of them all, Andy was injured early on and never recovered from that. And then the on/off, joining a tournament and then when we think that he has found his rhythm, he will suddenly lost in the first round. So it's hard for him to beat one of the top seed in the US Open which is Tsitsipas.

I woun't count murray out vs Tsitsipas but i don' think he can keep up the pace if the game drag up to the fifth set. I mean yes, Murray can still play but the young and hungry Tsitsipas will prevail in the later sets.
this is a tricky one, it's the kind of matches that could go either way, i have seen Murray play lately and he made some really good shots, he can break Tsitsipas's confidence if he starts too strong and aggressive and why not even win the match, and also it could end 3-0 for Tsitsipas, and that's where i always try to avoid or put few bucks on big odds, and i think im goign with the second option, Murray has what it takes to win and that's enough for me to bet on him.

Tricky on the first set, usually Tsitsipas starts very strong in the first set. But I have noticed that in his defeat, majority of those who beat him are come from behind so yeah, maybe Murray have what it takes to beat him. It's just a matter of how Murray will respond and save his energy for a gruelling 4 or even 5 sets if he extends Tsitsipas and see how Tsitsipas will respond in the game itself.

Ah I think when Tsitsipas gets Murray running he wont have the pace over a minimum
of 3 sets.

^^ Busta if I'm not mistaken is the top seed in this tournament so that speaks as to who entered or not.

Congrats on your win, I haven't put a bet on it, but Cilic has lost already and Bublik and Delbonis, so #6 and #5 and #10 is out of the tournament already.

But still a good tournament to bet with, there's money to be made as there are upsets here and there.

I lost my bet on Ymer, I thought he can overcome Ivasha, but Ivasha form is perfect in this match winning 6-0, 6-2, damn that was total domination.

Just looking at the odds for Tsitsipas vs Murray, 1.08 ML and then handicap -7.5 at 2.01.

I think Murray can still give a good fight, although Tsitsipas might win in 2 sets, but that handicap? not sure if he can cover it. So I will skip this match, there are a lot of games that it worth to bet to give us a good returns.

I have a bet on Tsitsipas along with bets on Humbert v Gojowczyk, Felix AA v Donskoy,
Fokina v Trungelliti and Dimitrov v Riffice with not great odds for tomorrows games.

Aren't we talking about US open here? If so, then it is 3 sets and those odds and handicap look spot on for me. I am not sure Murray has the stamina to play best of 5 set matches and he is still a big name and nobody will enter in match with him with attitude like "easy win I can relax".

Did not check US Open draws yet, I like to leave it until last minutes before matches start when counter handicaps offer biggest value. Usually odds on favorites drop a lot and consequently give much more value for my bets on underdogs to cover the spread.

It is indeed a first round match for the US open. Tsitsipas will probably win this but Murray won't go down without a fight. I think Murray can play some best of 5 set matches (2 or maximum 3) but than it's game over; you saw that also on Wimbledon.

I would say it a little differently.
In fact, it is a great achievement and a huge success to win several GS tournaments at a time when the three greatest tennis players in history played together.
Murray and Wawrinka did it and it says a lot about their quality and mental strength.
Had they played at a different time, they would probably have won a lot more GS tournaments.
Murray unfortunately had a lot of injury problems and therefore didn't achieve what he could in tennis given his talent and quality of play.

I agree, and how fast Murray goes up to the rankings, is the same as he went down as well after injuries after injuries. Wawrinka also enjoyed some of the best tennis playing against the big 3. But the big 3 still dominates until age and injuries caught up with them.

I also haven't look at the US Open matches, the first round will be several days from now so enough time to prepare and put our bets.
