So far Shapovalov looks okay but Djokovic show why he is number one in the world. Shapovalov had a chance to get the first set but wasted it. I don't think he can win this game but he looks promising as a 22 year-old tennis player.
Even if Djokovic goes down 0-2 he wouldn't lose this tournament. Now Nole is only 2 sets away from his 30th Grand Slam final.
Shapovalov is playing really well and I can see him making big troubles for Djokovic if Djokovic just drops his levels a little bit. I have a bet on over 31.5 games which looks like great value at the moment.

I was surprised earlier today with how easy Berrettini dispatched Hurkaz. I expected a 5 setter in that one.

I think we have to say well done to Ashleigh Barty for taking this one and going to the final! I know even I myself backed Williams at first, but then injury and early KO just cleared the path for Barty BUT it was still an achievement nevertheless. If she completes it, it will be a first Australian to win in over 40 years!

Credit also to Kerber for getting so far!

I've got bets on Ash Barty and Karolina Pliskova which I placed before the Wimbledon tournament began - either way I'm in for a modest win (I didn't put big bucks on the end result, but it's nice to know that two of my picks have made it to the finals.

Kudos to Roger Federer for having played as long as he has and being a true professional & a gentleman as well in a competition increasingly dominated in the men's series by crass louts.

I mean, it isn't that Federer is embarrassing himself. He's still a top 10 player, which is a great credit to him. It's only tough to see him struggle like this because we were used to seeing him at his best throughout the majority of his career.

If you look at the upcoming stars full of energy, all of them embarrassed themselves more than Federer. Thiem lost at the beginning, Medvedev, Zverev and Rublev before Roger. He's 15 years older from some of them - so I'd say what he's doing is still impressive.

This is how my bet looks like in this semis:

Berrettini (-3.5) + Djokovic (-6.5) = @3.13.

I thought the games are tonight, waking up in the middle of the night here to check the score, unfortunately, I made a mistake. I could have put my bet on other games today and get the result and then put a bet on tennis. Anyhow, those two are the favourites, and hope that there will be no upset and that the spread are going to be covered.

I haven't followed Berrettini's match so I'm not sure if he can cover the spread. But for Djokovic, yeah he seems to be covering almost all the spread in this tournament, even as high as -9.5 early, he managed to do it. So wishing you good luck and hope that there will be no surprises, specially the Hurkacz vs Berretini match.

Ladies is all set, Barty vs Pliskova in the finals.

Well Berrettini is the favourite so there's a good chance that he can win against Hurkacz, just matter of preference I guess and do hope that if ever he wins, he can cover the spread and more to be on the safe side. Same with Djokovic, as you have said, he even covers the -9.5, so most likely if everything is perfect tonight he can win his match as well. So best of luck to those who are going to bet on the semis.

It is much better to leave when you are on top than to allow such humiliations and shameful defeats.
I am not so sure about that. If you really love the game you play it for the game itself and you find other things to motivate you. There is something in just playing without pressure of result to see how far you can continue. Why not break a record for the oldest guy to ever win a match on Wimbeldon? I am sure Federer could do something like that in the future.

I think this is not the end of his career, although we know that he is not getting any younger, thus his body is also deteriorating, he might continue to go and choose tournaments still in the calendar and continue his career until he can no longer play.

We should give credit to Hurkacz, he really played very well from the second set and the 3rd to give Federer his worst beating in a Wimbledon quarter final. Odds are against him though against Berrettini.
The guy has won several millions of dollars during his career he doesn't need to play in small tournaments to earn his life. I'm not sure his sponsors would agree to see him playing there anyway. Moreover it would be really humiliating for him to be beaten by random anymous players in small tournaments, I'm not sure he's ready to face that for few bucks.

Besides that Ashleigh Barty had a strong victory against Angelique Kerber in 2 sets this afternoon, she's now the favorite to win the tournament against Karolina Pliskova.

I can't remember a set that Federer lost 6-0 on grass. It really is a shame to see him like this, Hurkacs blew him off the court.

Berrettini is the one celebrating, he really had an easy route to the final. Aliassime is the first seeded player he had to play against and he can reach the final without playing against a top 10 seed.

Federer was the greatest tennis player 10 or more years ago, but his time has definitely passed and Djokovic and Nadal have now taken over the top of world tennis.
This is a typical example when a great athlete does not know how to recognize the moment when he needs to retire and stop performing.
We have a very similar example in women's tennis with Serena and Venus.
It is much better to leave when you are on top than to allow such humiliations and shameful defeats.

I can hardly believe it, but Federer was now clearly defeated in 3 sets (The last set is very suspect, injury?)
I watched whole 3rd set and I don't think there was injury involved. Hurkacz played very well after wining that 2nd set, he was full of confidence and he hit some very good shots. Federer was just the opposite, he played mediocre and gave away few cheap points but that is it.

I would feel bad if this was his last match. Not nice to go away with 6:0, better to win some small ATP 250 in Basel or something like that and then call it quits.

Thanks for the short summary, unfortunately I could not see the whole game. Sounds like many own mistakes and possibly also lack of fitness and match practice?

@Strongkored I feel you’re right and it’s just his age that’s showing up, and maybe now he should just realise it and call time on his career. Furthermore if he continues to remain adamant, and yet continues then he’ll only cause more embarrassment for himself and therefore I hope better sense prevails and he retires.

Don't forget that Federer came out of injury and didn't have a lot of match practice... I didn't expect him to loose in 3 sets against Hurkacz but I still think that Federer, if he can go back to his old level, can win another grandslam.

I also think it could be due to the lack of fitness, and he has come further in Paris as in Wimbledon than many thought, after 1.5 years it was still a good performance in my opinion.

Yes,,, I think we have to give it to Hurkacz. I maybe feel Federer will be disappointed in the last set and for sure I hope he plays one more GS,,, but maybe to gain more fitness and confidence in ATP as you say. This would be a terrible way to end his GS career, sad for a lot of us who watched him in his glory days.

TBH, I didnt expect Federer to win Wimbledon this year, he hasnt been playing at his top
obviously coming back from being off. Can anyone see him winning any GS in the future?

Can we apply Serena's situation to Roger's?
Being off, then recuperating, followed by a period getting back to fitness and then getting
match fit takes time and in that period everyone else is developing their games and progressing.

Yeah, I agree that we didn't even see Federer reaching as far as the quarter finals. On the first round, he has struggled, sign of bad things to come. And they he had a light draw in the tournament. Almost pair with players that are mostly clay court specialist. But this time, it was very different, Hurkacz is playing very high level tennis. And now that he will be up against Berrettini, another clay court player, maybe he can upset the #7 seed  and meet Djokovic in the finals.

I can hardly believe it, but Federer was now clearly defeated in 3 sets (The last set is very suspect, injury?) But my personal opinion, he can now end his fantastic career. No one would have believed him to be capable of the performances in Paris and Wimbledon at this age.
I don't think so Federer injury, Hurkacz played really well and Federer made a lot of errors which made Hurkacz more confident especially in the second set when he fell behind Federer (1-4 if I'm not mistaken) but managed to turn things around, can't believe in his own area Federer even couldn't get one game in the third set.

So probably also the 3rd GrandSlam tournament 2021 Djokovic will win.
This is what many people predict, but his next opponent is not an opponent he will easily to beat

Women's semifinals:
A. Barty vs A. Kerber my bet Over 19.5
K. Pliskova vs. A. Sabalenka my bet Over 19.5
