Good to hear the Federer has won again, it seems that he is getting back to his form. It was a tough battle against Norrie. Sonego is next, but he is more of a clay court player, so I guess Federer has some advantage of him.

Medvedev has to be stretch by Cilic in a 5 setter, it's a good comeback from Medvedev as he is down 2 sets but he recovers himself and won the next 3.

I guess Federer is always a nostalgic choice for many of us here. I was watching an ad for Wimbledon and they were showing a lot of Federer moments and,,, it just makes me realize how old he looks now after all those times spent in taking care of injuries.

It would be awesome if somehow he makes it to the final to face Djokovic,,, still 12/1 odds on him!

So Federer is always good for a surprise at Wimbledon, just like Nadal in Paris, but could he hold his own in a 5 set match against Djokovic? I almost don't think so, everything would have to work well for Federer and not for Djokovic. But Federer and Djokovic can only meet in the final anyway.

Djokovic vs Garin (-9.5) Djokovic @1.87, what can you say @Trofo - can he cover it?
Have no idea, 9.5 is a lot on grass and I did not see Djoko play on grass this year. Too much football taking my time. He can cover it for sure if he decides to make a statement but more often than not players are happy with one break on grass and don't push too much after getting it.

I am skipping it but if I wanted to put some money on this match I would go for Djokovic under 18.5 games. Basically a bet that he will take all sets without letting opponent get to 5 or 6 games.

They call it Manic Monday, the first Monday of the 2nd week of Wimbledon. To reach it is already a small conquest: it means to have survived the first, hellish seven days and to have become part of the restricted club of the best sixteen. Among these there is also the class Sebastian Korda, who surprisingly imposed himself on the specialists De Minaur and Evans, both overcome in three sets. The American has talent and, despite still being very young, is showing it a bit on all surfaces. In the round of 16 he will face another who, according to the forecasts, should not have reached so high: the Russian Karen Khachanov. Who, in the third round, didn't even leave the crumbs to the excellent Tiafoe, who in turn executed Tsitsipas at the beginning.
Right now Korda leads on Kachanov 5-2

I hope he wins this Wimbledon as a crown of his career - but it would really be a surprise. Even for him.

yeah, he would be highly surprised to win the competition
he is struggling now, but still play the tennis, that is real tennis, not chasing each ball in defense, but attacking on each opportunity and with powerful shots

nevertheless, he was much better in third round compared to first two (especially first with Manarino), but needs a lot more to pass into SF, and even more for the Final (I do not think he would make it to SF, TBH)

^^ He will be facing Sonego next, which is more of a clay surface player. So I think that Federer can get past him but it could be in 4 or even 5 setter here. He is still the favourite to win, and I'm looking at the O/U and probably will bet later on other events.

From what I've seen so far, Federer is struggling a lot. He's still good enough to beat most of the players on quick surfaces and will probably go past Sonego, but after that he has to face Medvedev who will probably be too much for him.

It's truly impressive to see how Federer is still going strong but I'm also a bit sad because the newer generations will remember this Federer - who is vulnerable and is struggling. I'll always remember the one that simply crushed anything in front of him and who glided on the court without even breaking a sweat while delivering worldclass offensive tennis match after match.

I hope he wins this Wimbledon as a crown of his career - but it would really be a surprise. Even for him.

There are a lot of surprises in the women's competition, many favorites have already dropped out of the tournament, so it is very difficult to say who will win this tournament.
Maybe Barty, Pliskova or Sabalenka, Gauff is probably still too young.
What do you think?
Yes, the women's section is always full of surprises. In recent years, Grand Slam champions have almost always been filled with new names.
Gauff is still very young but she could be the next surprise, Sabalenka and pliskova are my favorites and Barty are still very solid so far, It's hard to predict who will make it to the final and lift the throphy.

What surprised me the most over the last couple of years is how out of a sudden Serena Williams' dominance literally fell apart. She smashed them all, sometimes 6-0 6-0, and everyone thought she is going to break the grand slam championship record by miles. That dominance over within just no time. It doesn't feel like she could return successfully and become number one again. I am curious when Djokovic's dominance will be broken.

Serena started to play tennis at age 14,  and obviously, wear and tear are going to catch up with here. So most probably her dominance is over, she is no longer in his prime. Djokovic is very different though, he is somewhat enjoying another round of this greatest tennis performance after coming back from his worst injury in 2018-2019. I think the competitiveness inside of Djokovic can be compare to players like Jordan. His focus, his hunger and he just want to defeat everyone but breaking them apart.

Djokovic is all about mental aspect of the game and not giving anything to his opponents. There is nobody even close to his level of concentration and focus. Everybody has a bad day in the office and he managed to take his game on a such level that even on his worst day he can still perform like top 10 player and wait for his opportunity. That is unbelievable and something I have never seen in any sport before.

Nole is an amazing athlete, what he achieved and what is yet to be achieved, makes him one of the best if not the best tennis player ever, he does not have any weak points, and he is perfect on every surface, i actually think he can win all four grand slams this year, he is such an inspiration for kids, but the media kind of favors Federer over him.

Seems that he is getting better by the games because we have seen him struggle against mannarino and that was his worst game but against norrie he really improved his performance but if he want to advance he need more a lot of difficult opponent to came even sonego is playing good in this tournement.

As for Serena, I think there are three reasons why her dominance in women's tennis has ended: pregnancy and a temporary career break, the new tennis star Osaka and Serena's age.
Unfortunately, I believe it can be said that pregnancy stopped Serena in her tennis career and prevented her from winning a record number of GS titles.
When Serena finally returned, a new tennis star appeared, Osaka, and she beat Serena in several big GS finals and now Serena is already an older and slower player, at the end of her career and with more frequent injuries.
Djokovic's dominance is likely to take several more years.

I also believe it has a lot to do with trust in yourself. When you are rolling, you are simply rolling. You don't even doubt you will win. If there is a break in this rhythm for whatever reason, you either immediately find back your former confidence or you'll have a problem. It happens so often to players of any sport. I believe that the self-doubt she developed along with a few big losses now put an end to her formerly realistic chance to become the all-time champion. She deserved it though as she was really unbelievable. Her dominance was even harder than Djokovic's.

Thats it, the break from the tour by Serena was enough to allow the
younger ones to progress while she became older and slower which
is her weakness now I think, she can still hit powerful winners for
sure but the top younger generation know how to play and beat her.
She is not winning another GS, unfortunately for her.
Anyway its just a record there to be matched or broken, she has done
almost everything already, she wont be forgotten.

Earlier in the year Djokovic was a mixed bag for Djokovic, but when
it comes to GS time he performs differently, he becomes this unstoppable force.
We all know what he aiming for this year, 4 from 4!

Damn, too bad you lost this multiple, that would be a nice win! But I often have the same, most of my multiples I lose because of 1 match.

Tell me about it!  I'm not sure I want to do such a big set of players in a parlay for tonight's games.

I've got individual bets on Aryna Sabalenka 1.53, Ashleigh Barty 1.36, Cori Gauff 1.79 and Karolina Pliskova 1.91  (I think Elena Rybakina is in with a good chance against Aryna Sabalenka).

Cilic also leading 2:0 against Medvedev in sets! Could this be the end for the second seed?
Just watched an hour of that match, between the games in EURO and Cilic has started to make more and more unforced errors. What is worse, his winners has dried up as well, now only his serve is still making some problems for Medvedev. 4th set just finished and we will have a decider in the 5th, have a feeling it will be easy for Medvedev but hopefully Cilic will manage to surprise me.

Unfortunately, for a long time now, Cilic has not been at his former level of GS winner, and it seems to me that he has some psychological barrier so that he always loses in decisive matches.
Federer is not convincing and he is struggling a lot in this tournament and Nadal did not play in this tournament at all, so Djokovic is the main favorite for the title.

Federer, Medvedev and Zverev without much further. The favorites have good draws in the round of 16. I'm curious how far the old master Federer comes, possibly final? I don't expect Djokovic to win anymore, I think he's too strong?

^^ It was a big comeback win for Medvedev and this is a sign that he can content in this Wimbledon.

In the ladies side, there's a lot of noise around Emma Raducanu, the lone Brit in this tournament. She is a wildcard, so for sure she is enjoying so far, and mind you, she is just 18 years of age. So a lot of potential from her to carry the flag in the coming years. I'll probably watch how she progresses after the Wimbledon.
