New Zealand is struggling and they already lost 6 wickets for 102 runs and they will be forced to follow on and a innings defeat is inevitable looking by the way things are going as Latham is still in the crease even though he got a life when Smith dropped his catch but no one is able to give him the support and for Australia Cummins and Pattinson are bowling really well and how long Latham can survive is to be seen.

New Zealand blasted out for 148, with Cummins taking 5 wickets for 28 runs (17-5-28-5). Only Tom Latham put up some sort of resistance for the Kiwis and the other batsmen surrendered without a fight. However, it was surprising to see Australia batting again, rather than enforcing the follow on. Had they enforced the follow on, then the match would have got completed by today itself (the New Zealand innings lasted just 55 overs).

Wondering with the decision of OZ of not giving NZ the follow on. OZ should have asked NZ to bat again and get them all out quickly as they got in the first innings so this would have made them win by an innings and some runs rather than now by winning by some runs.

England collapsed like pack of cards and a small score of SA is now too big for them . SA lead of 175 runs now and still 6 wickets left . So any score of above 300 chasing would be too much for England considering their performance in first innings .
This is very poor performance from England as I wad expecting some good and decetn batting from them but no one try to stay and give some good stand now South Africa is also facing some collapes in second inning but still have some good lead and if they able to touch 275 or300 then surely they are going to win this match without any serious trouble.

I’m not sure how South Africa players were able to script this kind of performance, but it’s really amazing and I hope they continue giving out this kind of performances in the entire series. England players seemed over confident and they have paid a huge price for that, and I too feel that they’ll not be able to bounce back in the second innings. @mersal indeed South Africa’s lead is already huge, and if they take a lead of 300 or 350 runs then this match is over for England.
Quinton de Kock was the stand out performer for South Africa and considering this as a bowling friendly wicket where the bowlers took 15 wickets in a day you need to give props to Quinton de Kock for his stroke play in scoring 95 runs where the rest of the batsman was struggling and in the third innings South Africa already lost 4 wickets and if South Africa is able to put a healthy score on the board then it is game over for England and the third day will determine who will win the match.

Poor England lol All out 181 and SA end up with 103 runs. well they say cricket is game of unpredictability. few months back SA bowlers were looking toothless, now look at them. eating English breakfast all day long  Grin
Its seems to me that we don't have to wait 5 days for any result.
Vernon Philander playing his last series has taken a liking for the England batsman, 14.2 overs 8 maidens and gave away just 16 runs and picked 4 wickets and that is some extra ordinary bowling and the batsman were struggling with the line and length like how South African batsman were struggling in the first innings and if South Africa can play well and put a good total on board then the match wont last 5 days as this is the second day and two innings are done  Cheesy.
Seems pitch is too hard for making strokes that is why everyone getting out too early,RSA also lost 4 wickets in 20 overs but got a lead of 175.Posting 100 more runs looks like more than enough to take 10 wickets of ENG players.

Good to see the bowlers dominating, 24 wickets within 2 days and if you are not having the perfect defesive technique then you wont be able to bat in pitches like these and that is what we are seeing in this match, stroke players cannot survive in this pitch and hence the England batsman were struggling and none could make an impact and if South Africa is able to make a lead of over 250 then it will be a good total to defend, with the way the match is going it will get over before the fifth day.
T20 changed the players a lot from the past, even ODI played like t20 and test gone into level of ODI that is why more wickets going down in these days.Missing players like Rahul Dravid who has been the big wall for India whenever they need to defend the balls for too long.

The partnership between Denly and Stokes didn't last long, SA managed to pick up 3 quick wickets for 8 runs. Now ENG are struggling at 150/6 with Butler and Curran at the crease. If SA somehow manages to get ENG all out for around 220, SA will most probably win this match. And de Kock will be announced the man of the match, if SA wins, first he scored a very much needed 95 runs, now taking 5 out the 6 wickets.
A welcome surprising turn of events, England is still trailing by 103 runs and they lost their 9th wicket for 181 runs and if they are able to cross 200 runs that would be surprising as they have lost wickets in quick succession and now the last man standing and with plenty of time left in the match all South Africa has to do is to bat for a longer period of time in the second innings and if they can built a lead of over 300 runs then they can fold the England team in the last two days.

ENG managed to build good partnership for wicket three and four* after 2 early wickets now trailing by 142 runs with 7 wickets in hand they have more chance to beat the first innings score and take the upper hand on this match.

The South Africa bowlers are returning fire as England is struggling at 150 for the loss of 6 wickets and since England have a long batting line up they could recover as long as Jose Buttler is in the crease but how long he can be patient is to be seen as he is an aggressive batsman and they are still trailing by 134 runs.

Australia is in control of the game as New Zealand lost Williamson and if someone rises to the occasion i am expecting an one sided match, it all depends upon how the New Zealand batsman will bat in the opening session in the morning.

The way SA bowlers have come up and started bowling this seems to be a good start for SA as 3 wickets down for just 96 and of Danley continues to bat well and make century then scenario may differ and England would be back again in the lead.

How in the world is NZ rated 2nd in the test rankings? Australians are decimating them at the moment and I feel Australia deserves a far higher ranking in comparison. So many Australian batsmen rose to the occasion in the ongoing match.

Warner-> Marnus-> Paine-> Smith-> Head! New Zealand players need to play more consistently. Williamson has been out of form since the World Cup. I feel like New Zealand are simply trying to avoid a whitewash at the moment.

Forgot the series win by New Zealand against England? They won the Mount Maunganui test by a massive margin (an innings and 65 runs). Australia deserves higher ranking, and they may eventually get there by mid-2020. But that doesn't mean that NZ is currently over-rated. They have been performing quite consistently with limited resources available.
No team is over rated, Australia scoring 467 in the first innings makes them strong. Losing two wickets for 44 runs and winning the first test match makes Australia to be better than New Zealand. In recent days I find West Indies to be the team that is progressing with the available players. The quality of play was visible during the previous season against India.

Currently they are in 5th rank on ICC test team table but they got rating 102 same as team 3 and 4 so number of matches affected their rank but its not really much important any team could change their entire position with the ability of players.

Glad you mentioned, somehow i missed it and didn't gave much thought about it.

SA vs Eng

3 wickets down for English team, i must say English top order is very consistent with their poor performance  Grin. suddenly Proteas's 284 runs score not looking too bad and who know if they can get some first inning lead.
