Afghanistan's batsmen have given a very disappointing performance as they started batting in the first Test match against Ireland. Afghanistan batsmen should have batted more responsibly. Afghanistan's batsmen have had a bad performance against Sri Lanka in the Test match, so Ireland's opponents have batted very badly. The way they are batting, it looks like Afghanistan will be all out before they can even score 200 runs. Ibrahim Zadran scored the highest runs for Afghanistan. Afghanistan's current score is 121 for 7 in 40 overs.
In the only Test between Ireland and Afghanistan, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat. The decision to bat after winning the toss was correct but Afghanistan's batsmen did not play well. Rahmat Shah, Noor Ali Zadran out when team scored 11 runs and Afghanistan fell under the pressure this couple of wickets fell in Mark Adair's over. Shahidi and Ibrahim Zadran put on 55 runs in the third wicket partnership but Shahidi could not last long. Ibrahim Zadran tried to hold on to an edge but was out for a personal 53 after the team's 90 runs for six wickets. Afghanistan's team score is now 139/9. Mark Adair has bowled brilliantly, he has already taken four wickets. I think the situation in Afghanistan would not have been the same if they had included experienced players in the team.
Ireland performed well in the Test match as Afghanistan were bowled out for 155 runs. But there, the Ireland team gave a lead of 33 runs by meeting the target of 155 runs given by the Afghanistan team. And lost only six wickets Ireland team now has batsmen who are mostly experienced batting wise but have vast experience in bowling side of Ireland team players. Zia ur Rahman and Naveed Zarda have done the best bowling performance for Afghanistan team. If unique bowling like them could have performed well then Afghanistan team could have bowled them out in few runs.
Although Afghanistan batted poorly, Ireland's batsmen played well. Afghanistan mustered only 155 runs in the first innings. But Ireland collected 263 runs. Ireland team has managed to take a big lead of 108 runs. The pitch is not batting friendly. So 263 runs is a good enough collection for Ireland.
Afghanistan bowler Ziaur Rahman managed to take 5 wickets by bowling 30 overs. Besides, Naveed Zadran picked up 3 wickets in 18 overs. Ireland's batsmen have performed with considerable responsibility. Campher collected 49 runs, Stirling 52 runs, Tucker 46 runs. The overall performance of Ireland's batsmen was quite good.
If Afghanistan's batsmen can do well in the second innings, the team still has a chance to win. But Afghanistan's batsmen have to collect at least more than 300. Afghanistan will not win if they give a target of less than 200. Afghanistan is behind by 108 runs. So more than 300 must be collected in Afghanistan's second innings.
