Ashwin did bag 17 wickets so far but he also didn't look at best, which is very rare. He did contributed though by picking 3-6 wickets in almost every outing and he's your number 1 spin bowler so you can't drop him. This also didn't help Axar's cause, then we have Jaddu's angle which you mentioned already.

Talking about Ashwin, himself mentioned in post match presentation that it is taking 10 to 12 balls to get into his rhythm probably his age factor is causing that aside from he might be having hard time due to someone in their family is ill so that's reasonable.

Yes, Axar can't able to make it because other spinners are wicket takers but he will be given chance and Jaddu can take a rest in the final match?
He's an old fashioned cricketer (physically) and not physically gifted like Jadeja or disciplined like Jimmy Anderson.

His knees are also about to give up, it would be great if he could take a leave from the IPL for good and focus on his fitness and test cricket. Only then he can extend his career, maybe 3-4 years at best.

It's true that NewZeland really shown bad performance in his recent ODI series and I taught they will carry on his worst performance in test series too but here they make things completely changed and almost took entire Australian line up before 200 but here thank to green who took charge hold his wickets and scored a phenomenal century in such crutical situation where thier opponent have upper hand on them and dominance were already shifted from them. Now it's a significant chance for NewZeland to took his revenge and get Australian last hope green before they scored a total of 300. I know NewZeland were going on with one of thier worst batting performance but hope so they will recover and took a decent lead on Australian in order to be in game and make handsome results

Aussies always have batsmen that can take responsibility in case batting lineup collapse. This time its Cameron Green who has kept one end despite the fact that wickets were continuously falling from other end. Aussies have done well at the end of day one, 279 is not a bad score and they still have one wicket left. They will try to take score to 300 runs by tomorrow which will bring them back in the game.

Australia is 279/9 after 1st day at Wellington. NZ bowled beautifully; Henry was the pick of the bowlers and took 4 wickets. Cameron Green scored a brilliant century. He did not get any support from the other end apart from Mitchell Marsh's brief stay at the crease. NZ will probably get the only wicket remaining early in the first session of day 2. It will be a contest to watch because of Aussie's bowling strength.

In the test match between Afghanistan and Ireland, at the moment, Ireland is in complete control of the game. This partnership between Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz is important for AFG's survival in the test match. I think the way Mark Adair is bowling, this pair will not last longer on the crease in the first session on day 3. I am of the opinion that Ireland should win this match comfortably from this point.

I just feel for the poor guy Axar who did everything right and posted excellent performance whenever he got chance still can't able to find a spot in playing XI just because of Jaddu the similar player in everyway but has better stats. Axar can be even played as a complete batsman to be honest instead of just trying to give Patidar back to back chances and probably his red ball career for national side will be over if he doesn't post a performance if he has given one final chance.
In this series, he looked off color with the ball, I know it's harsh but when you have wicket taker bowler like Kuldeep sitting in the dugout then the team can't afford that, hence bench strength is good to have.

Competition is tough in the Indian team and things are surely looking dicey for Patidar.

Devdutt Padikkal likely to make his debut in last test match at Dharamshala as KL unlikely to be fit by then while Patidar continues to under perform, even if KL was fit, I'd say they should have given chance to Padikkal as India has already won the series, so try some new blood when there is nothing to lose.

Also, I feel Akash Deep will have his stay in playing XI.

Lots of media reporting the same so might be true.

Siraj played 2 back to back matches and nowadays high command taking workload management pills regularly so he could be rested. In that scenario Akashdeep deserves another go, Bumrah is coming back so Siraj missing out on the last match shouldn't be an issue.

Today Mark Adair 2 wickets, Mark on 🔥 fire.
Afghanistan started their second innings and at the last call Afghanistan were trailing by 65 runs so far. Two wickets fell for 63 runs and two wickets were taken by Mark Adair. This time if Afghanistan can't perform well then Ireland will win this test. Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah could not improve their performance even in the second innings, so Afghanistan is in a dangerous position.
Agreed. Adair already took 7 freaking wickets so far and is in the run for the MOM award if you ask me. He will continue trying to take more wickets and push his tally towards 10 wickets or beyond.

Afghanistan will probably end up giving them a lead of around 150 or something close to it which Ireland should comfortably chase unless they collapse.

Ireland are leading by 61 runs at the moment thanks to their middle order and tail-enders primarily while Zadran and Rehman did a great job with the ball though 155 was always going to be tough to defend.

I don't see the Afghans winning this one unless they produce something special in the second innings and Adair will be their biggest concern.
Ireland managed to give Afghanistan a lead of 108 runs at the end of the first innings,  Ireland were all out for 263 in the first innings. Zia-Ur-Rehman bowled well for Afghanistan, taking five wickets. Afghanistan are now batting in the second innings, their team score is 50/2, today they will play 23 more overs. Mark Adair has been bowling brilliantly he has taken 5 wickets in the first innings and two in the second innings so far. Afghanistan are still 58 runs behind Netherlands. Afghanistan must bat well and build a big partnership otherwise the match will slip out of Afghanistan's control.

Today is the practice match between Afghanistan and Ireland and of course, this match can be won by Afghanistan also this is a ground that was full at the 2017 final of the Champions trophy where the Pakistan and India match was played and Sarfraz won the first trophy for Pakistan as captain.
Also, it was the first Champions trophy that had been won by Pakistan, and what a great victory for Pakistan because on the other side, the captain was Virat Kohli, after Dhoni's captaincy Indian team didn't win any ICC tournament. A team like India can only win the World Cup by using Dhoni's mastermind captaincy.

The current situation of the match between Afghanistan and Ireland cannot be believed that Afghanistan players are playing like this. Ireland's team it's on its peak against Afghanistan. They took all the wickets of Afghanistan in just a day and now their batsmen performed like a pro. They made runs more than 250 on this wicket.

By the way, the Ireland team is the young team of Ireland, not their experienced player playing this. While on the Afghanistan team, they have Gurbaz, Karim Janat, and one of the best openers ever from their team Ibrahim Zardan. Although Afghanistan is in the lead by 26 runs on stumps at day 2 but they have lost three wickets. I don't think they will be able to give big target to the Nepal team. Remember this is the only test being played between these two teams.

What's happening with the BCCI these days? Surprisingly and for a good reason, they are being too aggressive and looking serious regarding strengthening domestic and test cricket.

Matching an IPL contract seems a big deal to me, guess it's for national contract players only not Ranji players, maybe there would be a different yardstick for Ranji players. Atm they earn like 10-20 lakhs if they are playing all Ranji fixtures, it might go up again.

BCCI reportedly planning red-ball match fee hike to meet IPL contract value

Quote
As per a report, the value could be raised to such an extent that if a player takes parts in all Test matches in a year, he will be able to make Rs 15 crore which will be same as a marquee contract in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will enhance the profile of red-ball cricket.

Australia vs New Zealand
After a dismal performance in the ODI series, the New Zealand team will face the mighty Australia in the first Test match of the series today. They will play two test matches in this series. New Zealand had lost all three previous ODI matches.
The New Zealand team has been playing badly against Australia recently in the T20I series and not in the ODI series. Australia cricket team is visiting New Zealand for a full series against New Zealand in which they are scheduled to play three T20Is and two Test matches. In which they have already finished the T20 series where Australia whitewashed New Zealand to clinch the T20 series.

Now the first test match between these two teams is taking place where Australia got the opportunity to bat first and now they have managed to collect 279 runs for nine wickets. From the first day of this test series, the bowlers of the New Zealand team kept Australia tight, they took Australian wickets at regular intervals. If the bowlers of the New Zealand team could have bowled out Australia today then the New Zealand team could have started batting from tomorrow i.e. from the second day of the series.Let's see how much more runs Australia can add in their first innings tomorrow.

The Australian team played very well in the T20 matches but could not perform well in the Test matches. 9 wickets fell in the first innings of the first day to collect only 279 runs. Keeping the wicket did not perform for a long time as it was a test match which needed to be managed properly. Only Green managed to score a century but all the unique players did not perform well. Matt Henry of the New Zealand team had the best bowling performance of the New Zealand team as he single-handedly collected four wickets.

Afghanistan's batsmen have given a very disappointing performance as they started batting in the first Test match against Ireland. Afghanistan batsmen should have batted more responsibly. Afghanistan's batsmen have had a bad performance against Sri Lanka in the Test match, so Ireland's opponents have batted very badly. The way they are batting, it looks like Afghanistan will be all out before they can even score 200 runs. Ibrahim Zadran scored the highest runs for Afghanistan. Afghanistan's current score is 121 for 7 in 40 overs.
In the only Test between Ireland and Afghanistan, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat. The decision to bat after winning the toss was correct but Afghanistan's batsmen did not play well. Rahmat Shah, Noor Ali Zadran out when team scored 11 runs and Afghanistan fell under the pressure this couple of wickets fell in Mark Adair's over. Shahidi and Ibrahim Zadran put on 55 runs in the third wicket partnership but Shahidi could not last long. Ibrahim Zadran tried to hold on to an edge but was out for a personal 53 after the team's 90 runs for six wickets. Afghanistan's team score is now 139/9. Mark Adair has bowled brilliantly, he has already taken four wickets. I think the situation in Afghanistan would not have been the same if they had included experienced players in the team.
Ireland performed well in the Test match as Afghanistan were bowled out for 155 runs. But there, the Ireland team gave a lead of 33 runs by meeting the target of 155 runs given by the Afghanistan team. And lost only six wickets Ireland team now has batsmen who are mostly experienced batting wise but have vast experience in bowling side of Ireland team players. Zia ur Rahman and Naveed Zarda have done the best bowling performance for Afghanistan team. If unique bowling like them could have performed well then Afghanistan team could have bowled them out in few runs.

Although Afghanistan batted poorly, Ireland's batsmen played well. Afghanistan mustered only 155 runs in the first innings. But Ireland collected 263 runs. Ireland team has managed to take a big lead of 108 runs. The pitch is not batting friendly. So 263 runs is a good enough collection for Ireland.

Afghanistan bowler Ziaur Rahman managed to take 5 wickets by bowling 30 overs. Besides, Naveed Zadran picked up 3 wickets in 18 overs. Ireland's batsmen have performed with considerable responsibility. Campher collected 49 runs, Stirling 52 runs, Tucker 46 runs. The overall performance of Ireland's batsmen was quite good.

If Afghanistan's batsmen can do well in the second innings, the team still has a chance to win. But Afghanistan's batsmen have to collect at least more than 300. Afghanistan will not win if they give a target of less than 200. Afghanistan is behind by 108 runs. So more than 300 must be collected in Afghanistan's second innings.
