Cameron Green's brilliant knock has saved Australia from ending its first innings in a disaster. This is his first century as batter in International test cricket and it came at a time when Australia needed it more. Out of the 279 runs that Australia got his contribution is 103 runs which is appreciable. Australia has lost 9 wickets and tomorrow I do not think they will last long against the New Zealand bowling attack. The goal would be to get to 300 runs which will look decent to defend given the current conditions which favour seam bowlers. It won't be easy for New Zealand to chase those runs as Australia too have some of the best pace bowling attacks.

While most of the top-order and middle-order players failed to perform well, Cameroon Green's century helped Australia to a big score. Green is batting very responsibly. He is unbeaten with 103 runs.
Australia lost their first wicket by 61 runs. But after that, the team lost a few wickets and fell behind. Australia lost four wickets before collecting 90 runs. The Green-Marsh partnership was 67 runs. And after Mitchell Marsh got out, no other batsman could stay at the crease for long. At the end of the first day, the Australian team collected 279 runs, losing 9 wickets. Considering the pitch, it can be said to be quite a good collection.

Devdutt Padikkal likely to make his debut in last test match at Dharamshala as KL unlikely to be fit by then while Patidar continues to under perform, even if KL was fit, I'd say they should have given chance to Padikkal as India has already won the series, so try some new blood when there is nothing to lose.
Also, I feel Akash Deep will have his stay in playing XI.

After a disastrous start by Australian batters, it looks like the partnership between Green & Cummins is coming into place. They have lost 7 wickets but are approaching a decent target. If anyone now gets out then Australia would be in trouble. New Zealand has utilized the toss to their favor and has got a good start. It only matters now is that if they can maintain this momentum. Cameroon Green is playing far better than other Australian batters and he has been maintaining the run flow without any issue, he has already got his half-century and if Cummins can give him support he can get his century.

Aus lost wickets in the wrong time especially after building partnership and not taking it to the next level. Probably it is one of the best bowling performance by NZ against AUS for very long time but still it's kind of decent total and Lyon even Hazlewood can hang around for very long time if Green decided to score big but only 10 overs remaining today and if this innings last for tomorrow then Morning will be kind of tricky again to bat and can fell short of runs.

Yes the first day of the New Zealand vs Australia First Test match was exciting. Australia lost 4 wickets but both teams are doing well. New Zealand bowling is good and puts pressure on Australia. Australia is tough and can come back from tough situations.
Australia is usually a good team but New Zealand has shown they can beat strong teams at home. It will be fun to see how both teams play in the next few days. So at this we can't make a conclusion so let's wait.

New Zealand team won the toss and decided to field. Australia is very strong in Test format. And in this match I consider Australia team as favorite. The main reason for this is that the New Zealand batsmen are not in good form. The performance of almost all the batsmen in the team is very erratic and weak. I am also tracking the score since the match started while doing my works here and here come some interesting stats why AUS is favourite. NZ won only 1 match against OZ in 27 matches that happened in their home in the last 2 decades so it's obvious they are going in as favourite.
But NZ started pretty well with few early wickets and dismissed openers after decent partnership now AUS is at 136/4 and partnership is getting closer to 50 between Green and Mitch Marsh. Already in the second session so ball is not going to swing and now it's time for OZ to punch back.

Harry Tector and Paul Stirling will bat early next day. These two batsmen are two of the most experienced batsmen in Ireland's squad. I think Ireland can take a lead of 70-100 runs.
Ireland in much better position at the end of Day 1. Terrible batting from Afghanistan, they were bowled out for just 155 runs. Mark Adair had best bowling figures of his career, he picked up 5 wickets. Afghanistan decision to bat first was not of much success as they kept losing wickets regularly. Ibrahim Zadran and Karim Janat are top scorer from Afghan side. If Ireland can take a lead of 100 runs in first innings then it will become difficult for Afghans to save this match.
But if Afghanistan can bowl Ireland out before 200 runs in the first innings and if Afghanistan can bat well in the second innings then surely there will be enough opportunities for Afghanistan. Moreover, it was not reasonable for Afghanistan to decide to bat first.

Afghanistan's batsmen have given a very disappointing performance as they started batting in the first Test match against Ireland. Afghanistan batsmen should have batted more responsibly. Afghanistan's batsmen have had a bad performance against Sri Lanka in the Test match, so Ireland's opponents have batted very badly. I don't what's really trouble going on with Afghanistan team because they have several start who can win matches by itself about still unable to make a difference while playing for his national team, I don't want to say but is it different priority I mean money or something else..Anyway they had done quite worst performance in sirilanka and now continuing his journey in Ireland too because it's true that facing sirilanka at thier home ground create trouble for many top sides but now it's different track and Ireland hasn't serval number of bowlers who can create difficulties for opponents but still they are showing thier dominance on Afghanistan batting Line up and to be honest I don't think 150 around target will be enough to defend as already their opponent score 100 and just lose 4 wickets hope Afghanistan will make a decent recovery otherwise it will be another white wash series
Team AFG is not yet there in the red ball cricket, they are solely focusing on the Whitehall for moment and we can't blame the big names either because they have been constantly playing in many tournaments as well as for their national side and ofcourse money matters too. Ireland may have the better team in the longer format and once they were deadly by beating top team in all the tournaments but now both are at the same level and might not concentrate on getting into test matches cause they are not going to get into WTC or anything.

When the Afghanistan team was bowled out for 155 against Ireland, I realized that Afghanistan's performance may have been due to the lack of experienced players in the team. Afghanistan team is in this situation due to not having important players like Mohammad Nabi Fazalhaq Farooqi Rashid Khan in the team. Because we all know that Afghanistan team is performing very well now so this kind of performance against Ireland is really very disappointing. Afghanistan's poor performance against Ireland is mainly due to Afghanistan's lack of some key experienced players. Of course, best wishes to the Afghanistan team for better performance in the next matches.
ICC done some serious mistakes while they give test status to Afghanistan and Ireland because currently these both are not able to compete with other teams with this recent performance in red ball are also not ideal for them because things are going the worst day by day in last few matches Afghanistan which is suffering due to some internal issues are going badly down too many big players are avoiding red ball format which is creating problems and if they keep things like this surely we will have not positive results as well.Today we have just 155 with Ibrahim Zardan and Karim Jannat done some decent runs all others gone cheaply and now in reply Ireland is also having 100 for 4 for me most chances we will have defeat for the Afghanistan in this game because their all new players are fail to give good performance in this match.

^^ Just heard in one podcast that when he was dropped after the 2nd test match against England. He faked a back spasm injury and skipped the Ranji match. He was asked to play Ranji so he could regain his form and NCA cleared him from any back spasm scare. BCCI didn't like this tactic, mind you Ajit Agarkar, the current chief selector used to be part of the Mumbai Cricket State Board so there is a possibility of him getting some input regarding Iyer throwing a tantrum when playing for his state board.
