Pakistan is perhaps the only team in the history of Test cricket to score 500 plus runs in the first innings against a team and then lose the series by a margin. On the one hand, Pakistan can be called an unlucky team because if they were not unlucky, they would never have made such history, although they never imagined that they would make such history in Test cricket. However, what England did against Pakistan, every time Pakistan comes to play a Test against England, they will think of England's batting like this. While other teams are improving themselves, Pakistan may be deteriorating day by day in their place of improvement be it in Test, T20 or ODI format.

I think the England team got their due by winning this Test. England's victory was decided yesterday by Brooke's triple century and today was the last day's game and Pakistan's batsmen did not perform well. Every batsman in Pakistan was mentally disturbed which showed in their performance and they were not ready to score big runs. Another key reason for the failure of the Pakistan team was England's one-of-a-kind Jack Leach who took 4 valuable wickets for 30 runs in just 6.5 overs. Besides, Brydon Carse and Gus Atkinson took two wickets each which accelerated Pakistan's loss. Pakistan were heavily criticized at home and abroad for losing against a weak team like Bangladesh in the previous Test series and will be criticized even more after losing to England by an innings and by 47 runs.

I would say that all things considered, England performed the best in the first Test match against Pakistan. Although Pakistan team performed well in their first innings on the first day, Pakistan team did not perform well in the second innings. Anyway, as England team has won against Pakistan in a good tie, and England team is leading in the series result. However, we expect that in the next match Pakistan team will have to be tougher and improve their game to equalize their series result against England. And if Pakistan ball doesn't play well in the second test match then surely they will lose the series, however we have seen earlier Pakistan lost the series against Bangladesh so they should improve their game against England.

Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Asif, Inzamam these legends are not comparable. During their time, Pakistan went through a golden era and Pakistan cricket will never forget their contribution. In the first innings of England declared an innings of 823 runs but could not get England all out in that match, then it can be understood that the bowling action of Pakistan's pacers did not benefit at all. But during Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif's bowling action, the batsmen would get tensed. Shahensha Afridi, Naseem Shah, Amir Jamal, they need to fix their bowling ability and they should learn a lot from how the legendary cricketers of the past took their cricket forward.

Forget about 500. The pitch was so pathetic, that even 700 would not have been enough. Remember that Pakistan lost by an innings despite scoring 556 in the first innings. During the good old days, Pakistan had tearaway pace bowlers such as Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami, who could rely on raw pace to take wickets. The current bunch of pacers (Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Aamer Jamal) doesn't have that ability. Only one who come close is Muhammad Hasnain, but he lost his pace after the injury problem.

Yes, You're right England outstanding performance helped to win test match by an inning and 47 runs against Pakistan. I think Pakistan is first team in test history that lost a game in which they scored more then 500 plus runs in first inning of the match. The Player of the Match is Harry Brook for playing an out classed batting inning scored trippel hundred 317 runs by just 322 balls and helped England team to scored 800 plus total in first inning of the test match. England now lead the series by 1-0. Pakistan team needs to improve his defence power if they want to win next match of series and level it but England have more chances of winning the series.

In this match there was no doubt that England will win the match because the game was played well by Pakistan side but England team shows strong and good performance due to which they will win the match.  As good as Pakistan's batsmen played in the first innings, they played worse in the second innings.  Had they given a good and tough target in the second innings, England might have lost the match.  But England's first innings scored more runs than Pakistan's two innings.  Pakistan side has played well only in the first innings, it doesn't look good anywhere else.  Pakistan batsmen should play well in every innings and try to score maximum runs to win the match.  Congratulations to England for this win.

What an wonderful match by England special I would like to give an big credit to this two man the Joe root and Harry Brooks can you imagine their total partnership was 454 which was make the record and break the past record of the colin cowdrey and Peter may so this match this score is the highest partnership right now for England tests.
The next match of this series gonna start on 15th ovtober I was wondering about that match result and score.

Pakistan vs England, 1st Test is done today and England won by an innings and 47 runs. It was one of the greatest match even to me. Specially england batting performance makes me wonder. Can't deny PAK batting performance in 1st Innings where they did scored 556-10 runs. That was a undoubtedly a big amount of runs. Where Abdullah Shafique(102), Shan Masood(151) and Agha Salman(*102) all of them did century. And unfortunately Saud Shakeel(82) was little away from his century. Although Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan didn't performance as expected but rest if players managed everything as well. When it comes to England, usually i excepted them to lost some wickets earlier due to pressure of a big 556 runs Target. And usually Ollie Pope lost his wicket with zero score at 4-1 runs. But afterward england era started. They started incredible batting where Joe Root(262) did double century and Harry Brook(317) did triple century lol. Even Zak Crawley(78) and Ben Duckett(84) performance can't be neglected and they total Scored 823-7 runs and announced declare lol. As response Pakistan started match in 2nd inngins but this time they failed to do well and lost all wickets within 220-10 runs. Jack Leach got 4 wickets from 2nd inngins and total 7 wickets in this match. Well this is one of the big archivement for England team in my opinion. Congrats

I was hoping to see England breaking Sri Lanka's highest test total of 952 runs record and either Brook or Root to make 400 runs and break Lara's record  (these two got my hopes so high, only to disappoint eventually) — unfortunately none of it happened.

England should have continued without declaring, and should have went guns blazing, whatever number they could have mustered up at the end of the day, I would have been content with that.

Pakistan would have given up looking at huge scorecard, which they did even with 823 anyway.

England team won by 47 runs in Pakistan vs England 1st Test match.Pakistan team scored 556 runs losing 10 wickets in 149 overs.England team scored 823 runs losing 7 wickets in 150 overs.Bassmen of both teams gave very good performance.But Pakistan team performed well.  The latter could not win the match because Pakistan team's bowling line was weak for which England team won this match. England team's bowling line was very strong.

Indeed this was a nightmare performance by them and they need to reform themselves. Unfortunately, they do not have much time for that because just after 4 days, they have another test to be played between these two teams and at the same venue, that is Multan. After this loss, they will be going with a lot of negativity in that match and I am not surprised if they will perform even worse.

The team mainly depend upon Baber Azam's performance in all formats (T20, ODI and Test) and if this gentleman does not perform well, then why again blame him only?
Where are the other 10 players in the team who also need to play

I rechecked and he did score 362 runs and took 16 wickets in 8 matches in U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy (Ranji for U-19 kids). That's why he got into India u-19 and read some reports that he got injured and missed the u-19 test series against Australia. Interestingly he's seam bowling all rounder.

The t-20 format is a different ball game tho but don't think it played any part in it.

Lol Another test match and another collapse! Well done Pakistan.

Babar is cooked, the dude needs some break and to charge up his battery. He was supposed to hit his peak batting moment at his current age but he's going backward. I used to find it distasteful but now i won't blame Pak fans if they call him Zimbabar again.

Today is the last day between Pakistan and England test match. It will be finished today after some overs as only a few Pakistan wickets left.
Surprisingly Pakistan is not losing any wickets now and maintaining the game, I hope Pakistan will get lead but for sure the match will be either a draw or in the favor of England. Just England has to out Pakistan full team, just four wickets more then England will win the game. In short, England has more chances to win this game as compared to be drawn and an impossible Pakistan Win.

Pakistan team already lost six wickets in the second innings so I think losing this wicket of Pakistan team will destroy Pakistan team as they did not perform well in terms of batting and will fail to meet the target of 823 runs given by England team. The current wicket loss of Pakistan team is so high that England bowlers play an important role, because Pakistan team is likely to be strong at Pakistan's home ground but Pakistan team is very weak there. Because in the first innings, these two batsmen of England team, Root and Harry Brook, completely shook the Pakistan team.

Yes, the Pakistan team performed well in the first innings, but the victory of every team depends on the second performance. In that case, we can see that Pakistan team currently lost their crucial six wickets, and they did not have a good batting performance from the start. The England team's bowling performance has been excellent, due to which they have put the Pakistan team under a lot of pressure so far. However, at the moment Pakistan need to collect 83 more runs to meet England's target, only then I think England's win is most likely in this match.

The match would not end in a draw as Pakistan are left with just four wickets and i don't think they can survive the 90 overs with only 4 wickets in hand.

Pakistan's team started the fifth morning and so far hasn't lose any wickets. Salman Agha batting on 55 and Aamer Jamal on 32 runs. These two batsmen have been batting since Pakistan lose their 6th wicket of Saud Shakeel on 82 runs. Since then they have added 80+ runs and are going well. However, there is no batting after this, so it is only a matter of time before one of these two get out and the game will be ended for Team Pakistan.

Pakistan had little chance of beating England in first innings. Their bowlers were not strong enough to stop England from scoring. England high score showed Pakistan bowling problems. Pakistan's performance is inconsistent which is worry. When Pakistan batsmen play well their bowlers do not. And when bowlers do well batsmen struggle.
England big score in first innings puts pressure on Pakistan batsmen. They have tough job ahead. Pakistan bowling attack needs to improve to compete with England.

So I was not convince that Pakistan can beat England in the first innings. Pakistan would have give a difficult target as much as they want but they could not stop England from score run. Because that would have require their bowlers to be strong which they are not. If England did not score so many run there would be no problem but their success is superior. But there are doubts from the Pakistan side because if the batsmen play well, the bowler do not play well. I think that Pakistan will not be able to score as much as the England batsmen have made in the first innings. There is no doubt that their batsmen and bowlers are experience players who know how to work hard and play well. Unless Pakistan bowlers play well, they will not be able to beat England.

I doubted whether Pakistan would be able to play well in the second innings. Because in the match against Bangladesh we saw that after Pakistan performed well in the first innings only because of poor performance in the second innings Pakistan team was defeated in two matches. And now in the match against England we can see a repeat of the same.

Pakistan batted well in their first innings. The team made a huge collection of 556. But the Pakistan team batted very badly in the second innings. Collected 152 runs and lost 6 wickets. And Pakistan is still behind by 115 runs. I have considerable doubt whether Pakistan will be able to score 115 runs.
