And all of a sudden, England is in driver's seat now. They need 77 runs to win, with 5 wickets in hand. Ben Stokes got out for 54, but now Ben Foakes is providing good support for Joe Root. Still the game can swing either way. If the Kiwis manage to get one more wicket, then England will be down to the tail. This time they included a number of genuine tailenders in the playing XI and that may create issues in case Jamieson & Co. is successful in getting one or two wickets. I don't expect a result today, as less than 13 overs are remaining.

England lost just five wickets at the end of the third day, thanks to responsible batting by Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Ben Foakes. England collected 216 runs. Joe Root is unbeaten on 77 runs. Stokes was out for 54 runs. And Foakes is still resuscitating with 9 runs off 48 balls. England needs only 61 runs to win.
Looks like England can win. But it is very difficult to bat in the first session. If Root and Foakes do not play well tomorrow, it will be difficult for England to win this match. So if you want to win the match, you have to collect at least 30-40 more runs from the partnership of Root and Foakes.

Day 3 has ended just now. England need 61 more runs to win the match. They have 5 wickets in hand. The match is completely in favour of England team now. But unexpected things may happen tomorrow. Because, the first session is very difficult for the batsmen in this pitch. We have seen quick wicket fall in the first session every day. Joe Root and Ben Foakes need to play carefully in the first session of tomorrow to win the match.

The first innings and the second innings is entirely different. Match is getting close to the result, and England is more strong for now. Already 5 wickets lost, but the runs required for the win is just 81 runs. Foakes and Root are taking the right moment to score. Root is on the scoring side and Foakes is giving good support facing the balls. Losing 4 runs for 69 and moving towards a win for 277 runs seems to be really interesting.

C'mon England throw away the game, that's enough resistance for a test match. We're not used to that.

Technically they should have been 5 (Ben Stokes) down if it wasn't for Colin de Grandhomme. He knocked out his stumps and kinda won the battle but it was a no ball, poor guy.

Vaccinized.. immunity level is full.
Early on, the New Zealand pacers were on fire, which led to the collapse of England's batting order. There is no doubt that blackcaps are doing absolutely incredible as they have taken four wickets in early. Stokes and Root's partnership is gradually developing, so there is no need to worry until they are both on the field. There are only 163 runs left to score.

After losing 4 wickets for just 69 runs, Joe Root and Stokes batted responsibly and England scored 123 runs. Root 33 and Ben Stokes unbeaten on 28 runs. New Zealand's fourth-wicket partnership played well and they were able to give a huge target of 277. If Root and Stokes don't play well today, England is more likely to lose. England still needs 154 runs to win. Today, England will probably have the opportunity to bat about 30 more overs. I still think that the match is under Kiwis' control.

The start of the third day's match was delayed due to rain. But after the start of the match, New Zealand lost three wickets in one over by Stuart Board. Now New Zealand's collection is 259 for 7 wickets. Tom Blundell is still at the crease with 94 runs. But my guess is that New Zealand will lose all their wickets in 30-40 runs. And they will be able to deliver close to 300 targets. I think it is enough to win against England.

Your guess is somewhat correct. After Tom Blundell returned to the dressing room, when Newzealand's score was 265. After that New Zealand players were able to collect only 20 more runs on the scoreboard. New Zealand lost all their wickets for 285 runs. New Zealand gave a target of 277 runs.

England's first wicket fell for 31 runs. Alex Lees returned to the dressing room after collecting 20 runs. 246 more runs were needed to win. Although the score may seem small, considering the condition of the pitch, it is very difficult to collect 246 runs. England is an experienced team, so the chances of both teams winning are still the same.

The collapse of England's batting team has already started in my opinion. They have lost three wickets already and scored 49 runs. They still need 228 runs to win the test match and it honestly looks really hard. I really don't think they will be able to do it in this situation. They need to form a really good partnership otherwise things are not looking really good for them to be honest.

NZ were struggling early on, they had lost 3 wickets for just 35 runs. Mitchel and Blundell played brilliantly and now NZ has a lead of more than 200 runs both batters need to score a few runs to reach their century. England was playing really well but now they might lose this test match. In my opinion, NZ would try to build a lead of more than 300 runs and then declare. It would be tough for English side to chase a lead of more than 300 runs.

I don't think New Zealand will declare the innings. Of course, New Zealand will be in the safe zone if they give a lead of 300 runs. But just 2 days of the game are over. And don't forget that England's players are very talented. And so New Zealand will continue to do their best to provide bigger targets. They definitely don't want to lose this match.
In this test match, nothing will be settled until the last delivery. If New Zealand fights back, why shouldn't England? Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell are both likely to hit their hundreds in the first session of day 3 as they are just a few runs behind. It is hoped that England will get the rest of the wickets in order to set a reasonable target and begin batting as soon as possible.
English team might comeback but the chances are very less. These two batters are now set and they will try to stay on the pitch as long as they can. If NZ gets a lead of more than 300 runs then the task for English batters to chase that lead would not be that easy.

I agree with you. If New Zealand can get back on track in their second innings and bat well, why can't England? England's batsmen are very talented and experienced. And they are more familiar with this Lord's pitch than the New Zealand players. However, if the target goes beyond 300 or 350, then it will be very difficult to win in this field. It is almost impossible to win by batting for such a big target in the last innings. So England bowlers should try to end New Zealand's innings in the first session.

New Zealand is leading by 227 runs, with 6 wickets in hand. All of a sudden the England bowlers, who looked very threatening in the first innings are now coming out as quite ordinary. The partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell has added 180 runs for the 5th wicket and they are still going. Both of them have reached 90s and now the match is firmly out of England's grasp. The Poms need a wicket and they need it quickly. If the lead gets beyond 300 runs, then there is virtually zero chance for an England win.

Newzealand batsmen were doing  same mistakes in second innings until Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell checked in. First innings was just a drama where both teams batting failed and it was looking like we have a result on day 2. Right now Newzealand are very much safe and they will be more safe if they crossed 350 runs lead.

What a difference in performance between the first innings and second innings. In the first innings it was said the pitch is bowling supportive and it has turned completely or the players have begun to play in a much responsible manner. Tremendous performance from Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell. Made a big partnership at the right time. If these two wickets have gone at a lower score, now the innings could've come to an end. Both nearing the century and facing close number of balls is really good and giving a hard time for England.
Even i was expecting New Zealand to fold today but Daryl Mitchell Tom Blundell is pilling up a huge lead and saved New Zealand from a defeat and they now have a lead of 227 runs and three more days left in this match. A good second innings total with a lead of above 350 runs and England is in trouble chasing the score in the last two days as i am expecting the pitch to be uneven in the final days.

New Zealand batting has fascinated me. After batting 132 in the first innings, I could not have imagined that they would play so well in the second innings. But at the end of the second day, they collected 236 runs. Now I think the match is completely under New Zealand's control. There is no possibility of the match being drawn. And if the New Zealand bowlers can bowl as well as in the first innings, then New Zealand will undoubtedly win easily.
