@wheelz1200. Are we having an 8 man team or 12 man team? Does the app of ESPN let the league creator choose? I reckon this has not yet been formalzlied or agreed upon or I might not have been paying attention or I might have forgotten hehe. I want 8 man teams if we have a vote.

Is this only an 8 team league  Shocked yum.  Will make rounds 4-10 less stressful.
...and yes it is an 8 team league, in fact at the beginning I set it up as a 10 team league but I realized that filling that many spots could be difficult and the ESPN website did not allowed me to reduce the number of teams but it did allow me to increase it, so I thought it was better to start with an 8 team league and if there was demand for it we could increase it if necessary.
As you can see it was a judgment call I made when creating the league, it was an arbitrary decision but I thought that it was better to start small and only increase the number if there was the demand for it as the ESPN website allowed me to increase the number of teams but not to decrease it, we do not have a formal agreement but so far we have more support for the current size to remain that way, after all the discussion about the league has been going on for about 2 months and only the current members of the league have shown any interest, so it is not like we are excluding anyone that desperately wants to participate.

They are referring to the amount of players on each team and I think we started with standard size so we have 8 teams of 8 man teams currently.

1QB
2RB
2WR
1Flex
1Def
1kicker
and what is it 4 bench slots and 1 IR slot?

We could increase if you guys wanted as we are all going to have some seriously stacked teams but I don't mind either way.

Might be cool to try a 2 QB league thought, I've never done that, or maybe add a TE slot (if espn...wait I think my memory is failing me here) Is it a flex or a TE??? shit take one year off I can't remember shit! Cheesy

Oh nevermind I thought you were taking how many teams sorry reading comprehension is lacking this week.😅

Honestly to me the best balance is a 10 man league.  In an 8 man league waiver wires tend to be a non part as most teams are stacked.  12 man teams require a ton of knowledge and waiver wire is a must.  A 10 team league is a good mix where the front part of each team is stacked but the bench can always use upgrades via trades and/or waiver pick ups.  Either way it's all fun for me so I'm good either way we go.

I tried the mock draft already. It was very confusing and I was very overwhelmed. It made me pick the players that I do not know and have not heard of hehehe.

This is the entire reason to do the mock draft so that this does not happen to you during the real draft.

Now keep doing them until you feel comfortable.

If you see a guy that gets fought over alot then research that person. Wink

Yeah definitely keep doing them and you will see "trends".  Your bench will be made up of some unknown players if you don't watch football every week but it's INSANELY harder in a 12 man league.  In a 8 team league you will prettyuch always have ayers that can perform so for novices 8 teams are fi e to play in.  I wouldn't go into a 12 team unless you've been through a couple of these.  Those leagues depend on waiver wire pickups which is intense as far as research goes.

Thats okay, nobody knows all the players (well most of us don't)... inevitably you draft people you never heard of, just the way it goes for most casual FF players, including myself.

Once we start getting down to the 8th round, you start to notice how small the NFL actually is... when you're left with nothing but people you never heard of to draft.

We will make sure you don't start with a disadvantage in knowing how things work. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and we'll answer them.

So if I'm reading this right, the best option is to do it around 4 AM US Eastern time so that most participants are asleep, drunk, or otherwise incapable of making sound choices and I can draft the best players (if I can figure out who they are).

j/k
Unfortunately for you I will not be sleepy or drunk at those hours.

Unfortunately for me I will still be incapable of making sound choices. Roll Eyes

Is this the sheet used for teams in all fantasy football games?
The only difference is that the league settings allow you to pick up to 8 RBs and not up 6 RBs, you do not have to pick that many but you can do so if you want.

When will we drafting hehe.
We are trying to figure that out, could give us your preferences regarding the day of the week and the hour in which you could be available for the live draft?

So did we come to a conclusion about the draft date? Sounded like we were headed toward the 3rd or 4th week of August.

3rd week of August might be a little early, preseason games are still going on (they end on August 29), and you don't want to draft someone who has a hamstring injury or, god forbid, something more serious picked up in their last preseason match. September 2nd (Thu) through 7th (Tue) would be ideal, as close to kickoff game as possible. I don't have a preference for a specific day or hour, can pretty much do it at any time, perhaps @South Park can compile a list of everyone's preferred date/time so we can narrow it down.

Can anyone also give me some advice on how to do the draft? Do you use pen and paper and write down your picks and have a plan b and plan c if your chosen player is picked by someone else? Advice me please hehe.

ESPN has mock drafts available 24/7, so you can play around and draft against real people, familiarize yourself with the interface, practice, etc.

https://fantasy.espn.com/football/mockdraftlobby

You can also do mock drafts vs. the computer (expert ratings) at fantasypros, their draft simulator is pretty good. You can finish it in less than 5 minutes if you don't take too long with your picks, just set the correct settings (2021-Standart-Snake-# of Teams 8 and your draft position), and you are good to go.

So far these are the preferences the members of the league have expressed regarding the day and the hour the draft is to be conducted.

I suggest we just use EST as our standard time. ESPN and NFL usually list game times according to EST anyway.

I am good any day of the week, from any time between 2 PM and 2 AM EST.

Everybody else name your windows and we'll attempt to narrow down a spot.

Any time is fine for me. Weekend preferable but given at least a few days notice I can make time on a weekday too.

I think we've got folks from all over the world here, actually.  At least one member from Europe, and at least one American ex-pat hiding out in eastern Asia.  Weekends would be best for me, I tend to be early riser, which means I go to bed early too.
I am the same, weekends would work best for me but I could make the live draft any day as I have a flexible schedule, and regarding the hour US friendly will be best for me but again I could make it to the live draft at almost any hour as I do not really sleep that much.
I am away most weekends weekday nights are better for me but I can figure something out if it's on a Saturday night.

And in other topics...

Rodgers actually showed at training camp for the Packers so he is playing this year but it seems his contract was modified which will allow him to exit the organization and have more control about his future next year, it seems that he got his way not in the exact way that he wanted as I am sure he did not wanted to play an additional year there but it seems he got close enough.

Yeah Rogers playing this year in GB definitely solidifies some of the key pieces for ff in GB.  The lower of that outcome is Love who after being drafted in the first round will now sit on the bench for another year.  I'm sure he is fine with the paycheck but being behind Rogers he will surely be just a clipboard carrier this year.

Yeah probably the best way to jam pack your education is to run through a couple of those mock drafts.  You can see how changes in each one of your mocks alters your team construct.  Every early decision you make on a certain position will trickle down effect who you plan on drafting later.

Yep like Heuristic said you can arrange your player rankings how you see fit before the draft starts.

So lets say somebody picks the #1 player on your list, then you would draft whoever you have in the #2 position on your draft list once it becomes your turn. If somebody picks your #2 before your turn, then you would pick whoever is #3 on your list, etc.

So you kind of have to pay attention to see if you can get the guy you want. You could pile your top 20 positions with QBs and draft 3 QBs while everyone else has moved on to selecting WR or RB. Then you'd be "QB heavy."

Who knows tho. Maybe you want to draft Davante Adams (WR) first if you think he's more important than a QB. That's just an example... could be anybody you feel is gonna earn you big points.

Here's a good second opinion as far as rank order is concerned:

https://fantasy.nfl.com/research/rankings

Yeah putting people in your que you have to be careful because every draft is different and you need to adjust how you draft based on how the draft is going.  There is no real steadfast way on how to draft.  Draft who ypu think will get you consistent points every week and go from there.
