I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
Any thoughts on what the Niners are going to do at QB?  I mean, Jimmy G is well above average when he can stay on the field - but that's the problem, who knows if he can complete a full season - odds are a big no.  Are they going to go after Stafford, Ryan, or Wentz.  Or maybe they will find a trade partner in the draft to move up.  Should make the first part of the draft fairly interesting.
There are rumours Kyle Shanahan may like to reunite with Matt Ryan as he likes the way he throws the football way more than what he has in Garoppolo however if a trade is made the cap hit will be important due to the way his contract is structured, but taking into account the Falcons fired their Coach and GM during the middle of the season and the fact they have the fourth pick on the draft this could be the perfect opportunity for them to start over as it is obvious they have not recovered from the SB loss against the Patriots and it could benefit everyone to part ways.

If this were to happen then the Falcons will need to pick a QB with that fourth pick and everything will depend on what the Jets do with their pick, if they are picking a QB then Fields will most likely be out of reach and maybe they will have to settle by picking Zach Wilson which was above Fields in the eyes of some experts before the College Semifinals.

But this leaves the question, what to do with Garoppolo? And I can tell you the Patriots will be happy to have him back as his style of play matches very well with the old Patriots offence.

Trevor Lawrence has finally declared for the 2021 draft.

Quote from: ESPN
Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. and wide receiver Rashard Higgins were both cited for drag racing Tuesday morning.

[...]

On Tuesday evening, Higgins posted on Twitter that his "foot slipped," in regard to the drag racing citation, before deleting the tweet. He also posted he "was tryna get away from Covid," before deleting that tweet, as well.

Should have worn those spiky cleats.

You can throw the Broncos at 9 in there too.

Yes, could be, although I would think Elway will still have some say. Lock is still a bit of a rookie after having spent quite some time on IR in 2019. His stats for 2020 don't look super appealing, but I kind of like what I saw from him considering he doesn't have a very WR crew around him. It's too early to give up on him yet if you ask me, but if the Broncos are very desperate and the GM wants to build a team from scratch, you could add them to the list, yes.

The team that is probably in most dire need of a QB sits at #15 actually - the Patriots. And believe it or not, for my liking NE did quite good this season for all the players they were missing and having a washed up Newton at QB. Getting some of these players back plus a proper QB, could make them contenders again. Don't see them trading up into Top10, because it will be poor value for guys like Wilson/Jones and this is not very BB like. But I would love to see, what they could do with for example Winston.

It was quite apparent the Eagles could have won that game, but chose not to. The reason is...  debatable.

I think it's ok what the Eagles did, teams have done it before, just a bit less obvious Grin For me there was never a doubt the WFT would get the W, there was no reason for PHI to win. And this

(...) maybe the NFL should have both NFC East games played at the same time, spare us the 4th q farce.

wouldn't have changed anything, just that it wouldn't have been in the spotlight Cheesy And I am not even mad at the Eagles, because a) it saves the Giants from embarrasing themselves and b) all in all Washington was the best of 4 poor teams in NFC East, so they deserve to be in the PO (by rule^^).

The odds for the Bears seem rather high to me, maybe a dark horse in NFC.

Saints tb Bears is the safest thing for me, despite the Bears only losing in OT in regular season to them. But winning @Saints is very hard and Chicago hasn't beaten any good team away all season long. But you never know, maybe they will go on a run, we have seen it before Wink

For the record:

Cardinals over 7.5
Bills over 9
Carolina under 5.5
Raiders over 7.5

Vikings over 9
Patriots under 9
Giants over 6 PUSH

Some close ones, but 5-1-1 in the end Smiley

The Top10 for the draft looks like this now:

Jacksonville Jaguars
New York Jets
Miami Dolphins
Atlanta Falcons
Cincinnati Bengals
Philadelphia Eagles
Detroit Lions
Carolina Panthers
Denver Broncos
Dallas Cowboys

The bolded teams will or might want to draft a QB, so this could get interesting. The free agent market is thin this year, with the biggest names being Prescott, Rivers, Trubisky, Winston, Fitzpatrick, Brissett.

You can throw the Broncos at 9 in there too.  Drew lock has not shown he is a franchise quarterback and Elway has agreed to let go of player management and hire a gm.  Unless you have a star already every gm usually wants to draft their own guy since their jobs depends on wins and losses.  They never want to inherite a team that will get them fired.  Expect the Broncos to have a decent amount of turnover.

''Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski tests positive for COVID-19''
source: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30656525/cleveland-browns-head-coach-kevin-stefanski-tests-positive-covid-19

Browns will be without their head coach on Sunday, which has the line jump from Steelers -3.5 to -6.
Except for those three TDs in the second half in week16 vs. Colts, Steelers and especially Big Ben had three (they almost lost to McSorley/RG III duo, so that would make it 4) absolutely miserable games. I think the Browns are a lot better than that +6, i won't be surprised to see them outright win and shock the NFL world.

Yeah that is a pretty big hike.  Don't know who calls the game but most teams run through their coordinators anyway.  Im sure he will have microphone access so he can still "coach".  I'm kinda liking the +6 for the Browns.  Pittsburg tailspun into the last 4-5 games.  Think a field goal either way will do this one.  I'm on the Browns at that price.

However, why did they change the Red Skins team name? Is this politically correctness? Were native Americans offended?
We talked about it when the news broke out, while political correctness plays the main big role, this happened because FedEx who owns the naming rights for the stadium and that owns a minority stake on the team asked for the change after they were pressured themselves by investment firms, for years some people have requested for the name to change and Washington even lost its trademark at some point, BTW this was parodied in the South Park episode Go Fund Yourself, so despite Dan Snyder claiming he will never change the name, once big money was at stake he decided to do it.

I'm surprised Chiefs haven't been renamed to Kansas City United Football team.
They are winning and they have the biggest star in football right now so I doubt there is going to be a lot pressure for them to change their name as long as Mahomes is there.

I wonder when he got it. They had a game with Steelers just two days ago. If this results in some additional quarantines it might affect both teams but Steelers didn't play some of their starters so it's probably to their advantage.

Yeah but Browns barely won against Rudolph. Steelers defense is still quite good both on the ground and in the air. Browns can probably stop Steelers on the ground but their pass defense is no match for Claypool / Smith-Shuster / et al.

Well the clevland Indians have agreed to change their name after oh a century with the same name, with no ill intent.  Maybe the giants should change their name to the NY Average size humans  Undecided

Washington Football Team

Now, about that name;  I read an editorial not long ago that claimed Dan Snyder (owner of the ForeSkins) who is a Premier League fan was considering officially naming the team Washington Football Club, or WFC.  Although conflating football with football is likely to add confusion in some cases, I must admit I don't hate that.  WFC seems to flow off the to tongue in a seamless way.  Where as WFT seems destined to trip you up, almost taunting ones dyslexia.

Anything is better than having the word "Team" in your team name. But I don't think they'd go for it because who wants to be confused with soccer after all. When times are desperate, or if I was stuck in a bar somewhere and the only thing on was soccer, I'd watch it. But it just doesn't get the adrenaline and testosterone flowing like the NFL.

I got 12 which is about as good as 0 anyway. But I also got 13 of 17 in the singles, which leaves me with enough money to blow it on playoffs and Super Bowl, yay.

I blew 1mBTC on a LFC wager today, but I still have a small wad to blow invest in the playoffs.  BTW, @nutildah, I believe that's the first time I've ever been called a soyboy.  Okay, I can take it.  I'm not hurt.   Cry  I also fallow professional cycling.

If I have anything left over for the superbowl I'm going to go all-in.  It's a new truck or bust for me, boys.

I also did the 16 games challenge, and wasn't far away from landing it, as a matter of fact, i got 14 out of 16.

Not bad at all.  I was 10/16, but that's good enough for the playoffs!   Tongue

I dont think the eagles losing on purpose is that debatable.  They have every reason in the world to see what they have in Jalen hurts, and if they want to move forward with him.  By the 3rd day of the new season Carson Wentz's massive contract is fully guaranteed for the year and he gets a 10 mil roster bonus.  The battle they need to figure out is Wentz or hurts...so what do they do in a pressure situation, throw in a 3rd string qb who has been on the team for years and they know very well he isn't going to touch the field again unless injuries.  They get to screw a more hated giants team and move up from 9 to 6 in the draft.  I hope they draft a complete bust, they deserve it  Cheesy *end rant

Eagles not taking the field goal to tie the game and then subbing out Hurts for Sudfeld (for no apparent reason) in the 4th didn't look very good, at least in my eyes...but they moved 3 spots up in the draft, from ninth to sixth, guess it's all that matters, maybe the NFL should have both NFC East games played at the same time, spare us the 4th q farce.

I also did the 16 games challenge, and wasn't far away from landing it, as a matter of fact, i got 14 out of 16. The selections that screwed me over was, 'the accident waiting to happen' called Dallas Cowboys and Kyler Murray's injury aka Chris Streveler pick six. I did try to win so my total odds were not that high, just over 400, i will try my luck again next season, was kinda fun.

Very uninspiring matchups. The only kinda-sorta plausible underdog bet could be Browns beating Steelers. Maybe Rams? Nah, I doubt it, Goff is still questionable.

For round 2 I like Buccaneers and Ravens. Bucs crushed Packers in October and seem to be playing even better since then, and Ravens are on a roll since the covid debacle and their "must win 5 games" streak.
The NFC looks even weaker than in past years, two teams qualified without a winning record while in the AFC the Dolphins did not made it even with a 10-6 record, at least in the AFC I could see either the Browns or the Ravens winning away from home but in the NFC there should not be any surprises.

Black Monday has begun and three coaches have been fired already, the Jaguars, Jets and Charges fired their coaches and now we have 6 coaching vacancies on the NFL, I wonder if McCarthy will join their ranks?

I'd be timid about betting against the Ravens, but I wouldn't say the same about the Saints.  The odds for the Bears seem rather high to me, maybe a dark horse in NFC.
