I take it that it was you who drafted him? Again, depending when you did,not a bad idea.
LOL, no, I didn't. Although I had my share of screwups.
Shoot, I've been playing fantasy football for over 15 years now, 2-5 leagues a year, and I still screw up all the time. I fancy myself as quite NFL knowledgeable and good at FF..but I mean look at what place I came in last year in a league where half the people are noobs..it's a tough game! But fun..excited for my second year in this league.
So I like the Idea behind Best Ball, As you all know I pm people that forget to set their lineups or have last minute scratches.
I don't know how injuries are handled though, if your QB gets knocked out for the season your just boned? Or your kicker like butler last year? I had to use a rostor spot last year for 2 kickers most of the year and that sucked. but you need those points each week and those are positions you don't normally draft 2 players in. Come to think of it TE as well if you lose that position its not as bad as QB or K but can ruin your chances.
The free 10-man that's available on Yahoo does not include kickers and defense, HALF-PPR scoring.
source: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN29299.htmlThinking about this I guess the drafting strategy would be way different.
You guys that have played it want to chime in on these thoughts?
I haven't played in one yet. I was hoping ChiBitCTy might give us a few pointers, but it appears they haven't either...perhaps wheelz1200 has some experience with these types of leagues?
Given the format, i'd guess a WR-heavy draft, 2-3 QBs, and 9 bench spots should account for injuries...idk.
Also I would have no problem doing 2 leagues this year of differing formats (except ppr) and think it would be fun to do a early draft on one (bestball maybe) and a late one after pre season for our main one.
I completely forgot that we plan to expand the main league from 10 to 12. It would have been convenient to have both leagues on the same platform, however, i'm not sure how 12 and 10 (the free best ball league on Yahoo is locked at 10) would work. There's plenty of time to figure it out i guess. Nonetheless, having two leagues isn't a must, i just thought it might be fun,
draft and forget.
edit;Sleeper app might be a good alternative for the best ball league, it's fully customizable (i was able to test it last night, we can match the settings from the main league), and besides Sleeper has the best design/UI of all fantasy platforms out there.
I've never played best ball but I now remember having done a deep dive in to it and how it works. Personally, it's not for me. I like to be hands on (I'm in two fantasy baseball leagues where literally every single day you have to be setting lineups) and I just don't like the idea of drafting one roster, then it selects the players that did the best when its all over. You don't do pick ups or anything throughout the year either (I'm sure this varies)
That said, even though I'm probably already in like 5 leagues for this coming year, if ya'll decide to do it, I'll give it a try at least.
