There's no need to be upset
When gambling is illegal there then there is no way for them to collect taxes officially by the government from gambling sites or casinos, Chiese people have strict internet regulations as well, if they found using VPN to bypass regulations then surely there will be huge fine on them that is why many people from China prefers the anonymous currencies so there is no way to track the transactions by the governments and since it is not regulated the government also can't demand the data from any other government.
Some of the chinese people migrate in other countries in asia, in which the protocol and rules for gambling is not so tight and strict, so if they use VPN they can hardly be known, maybe these countries may be at the top who gamble the most but the one who gamble I mean the gambler is not pure and local, I think there will be some foreigners, and I think they are the one who makes that country in the top of the line.
Regardless of the use of VPN or not, China has proven to have a large gambling industry and it is inconceivable that if they don't need VPN, which means everything is regulated by the government then it will be higher data. Indeed, it is undeniable about using vpn, but if it is related to money I personally would be better off to avoid using vpn even for gambling.

can you develop this idea?
why would you prefer to avoid using a VPN on subjects related to money?
seems like that for users that want to gamble on countries where it's forbidden this may be the only way.

Lots of ways or exploits on where can someone could really able to bypass those restriction problem but of course it would really be accompanying such risk and once you've caught then you're doomed.
if i were them i will first research if how much is the charge and what are the consequences once you got caught for doing such bypasses or if what i will be doing is going to be worth it or not  . im not talking to major illegalities like hackings but only for using a vpn because what i know is that using a vpn on most countries are normal and not against the law  .

Just like here on my country on where there are lots of people came from other country who do make out some online casinos on my country just because theyre prohibited to do so.
The issue here is that they do operate leggally into our country which been knowing that they've been generating big which is somewhat expected for gambling company.
moving on to another less stricter country to play gambling than using vpn is more safer i guess ? but operating casino to another country because its illegal on your own country can be risky .

I am just wondering if China was included not because of gambling places like casino's which we know is illegal in the mainland (except maybe Macau and some other big cities). but because of POGOs that are located outside of China, but caters Chinese citizens in the mainland. I mean there is very big money in this industry and many people are doing it in the comfort of their homes (possibly with the aid of VPNs), I mean if the Chinese government is really strict about it then it will do all means to clamp this. But still there is big money that might be given as taxes to the government so there is possibly silence. Please do excuse me on this as this is purely my speculation and opinion.

there's also the chance that when mentioning China they're considering Macau and Hong Kong, not sure.
hard to tell the research methods on these kinds of websites but it would definitely be usefull to learn more about how they conducted it and how trustable is the data.

I think that the usa is the first country in the world in term of betting and the first statistic is not really clear because the united stats at least must be in the first 10 countries in te world
We'll never get an accurate site. Each of those reviews and data collectors have different sources so whichever is favorable to them, they'll put the data and will show it to the public at their own expense. And with such statistics like this, I don't think that the USA will ever care if they've got the most gamblers, most losers or most profit takers in the gambling industry. They are a big country so expect that they're always included if it's about gambling since Las Vegas is the one of the most popular gambling hubs.

it's not only because of website biases but also because it's damn hard to collect precise data from many different countries and for the final user also hard to find and aggregator that is trustable and organizes this data well.
Yeah, that is true. There are also some incentives depending on if there will be one sponsor who would like to do that for the researcher or website that conducts the data gathering.
But if it's coming from a trusted firm and they have reliable and validated sources, they can be said as a validated and accurate resource.

Try to check the statistics , and it Is Macau in China that's number 1 these days , it even Beaten Las vegas . Though European countries are also Highest gambler in the world .

And about the OP that's Outdated because the Links created 2 years ago from 2018 and not in this recent times.

That was interesting information but not that surprising. China is beating the West in almost everything lately. The Europeans are making their cars for the Chinese people now. They style their BMW's design for the Chinese people's taste. 10 years ago or so, they were aiming for the US market but looks like they don't care anymore. They want the Chinese Dollars. It is almost like China has more USD then the US itself. Amazing.

there's a lottery game in Brazil where you choose animals called "jogo do bicho" which is simmilar to lottery, each 4 numbers are animal, not fully sure
these are forbidden by law too (only the official government lottery is allowed) but not hard to find in the streets.

each country has its rules and of course some things should be forbidden, but many times  they make regulations out of stupidity, that hurt more than help.
As long they can get revenue or benefits from it then it wouldnt matter if it does hurt or make regulations out of stupidity, there nothing we can do.
Money is all that matter , and that's nothing we can do.

Lots of places in the world have some odd laws which might seem not usual or not normal in the eyes in most people but it cant be helped because decisions and laws made were final.
There are even countries that Allows their people at the age of 8-10 legally .

We can give out criticisms but nothing could be changed.
Maybe in a matter of time there can , because this might not be heard today but in the following years who knows .

it's funny to see these kind of comment here:
"money is all that matters and there's nothing we can do", "it can't be changed"

feels like I'm talking with my nocoiner friends who haven't felt the power of bitcoin and crypto.

may be reafirming the obvious but:
yes, we can change the world and realities around us.
no, money is not all the matters.

And about the OP that's Outdated because the Links created 2 years ago from 2018 and not in this recent times.

Yes, the references take so long.  I've even read this article a few years ago and it appeared on my country's national news website.  Australia is the number 1 country with the highest losing stakes because it has been a habit for Australians for a long time to make bets.  They even have the largest number of poki machines in the world.  These are some of the reasons that I've read.  Even though I am not Australian, news about them is also published in my country which is geographically our neighbor.
Yeah I agree that the article is outdated and even there's an existing article that is updated, it can't be only the basis because there are plenty of gambling platforms that aren't known or private casinos. So we can't tell if which is true and which is the leading unless the government was the one who provided those data that can tell what are the legit biggest countries that gamble the most.

Sources should be updated especially when creating this kind of article that tells which is leading, it might give wrong info to that businessman that might enter the gambling industry.

Without this high capital inflow from other countries I would be hard to sustain such high gambling rates.

I agree countries with good economy and its people making a good income are likely to be on top of the list, Australia is a rich country so it is very much qualified.

Well, it is kind of true. Most of those countries in the list generate profits not just in casinos or because of the people's gambling activities but with other things like exports. It is true that China banned gambling in their country but Macau which is a part of their country regulates gambling and it generates a lot of profit in these casinos, the same with other rich countries such as Australia the same with Japan, I think.
