Teams like England and Italy each are normally one of the contenders for whatever tournament they are participating in. But in the Nations League, they are both hopeless cases. The main reason of this is of course their not fighting very much for the win and their lineup choices are also important factors. This makes this tournament really interesting of course as there is a possibility for a surprise about the team to win the title. On the other hand there are still big teams that care about this too so we may not see any surprise anyway.
Italy and England had one of their worst days in this tournament yesterday certainly. Italy didn't even have a proper starting eleven and this cost them a big loss like 5-2. Germany didn't turn this opportunity down. England had a good starting eleven in my opinion but they still lost the match against Hungary home by a result like 4-0. This was really absurd to me and I wonder what really went wrong with England players in this match. Hungary shouldn't even have too many chances but they did much more in this.
Honestly the biggest thing Gareth Southgate has to learn from the last four games is to stick to his principles. What he’s been trying to do has failed him across 10 miserable days of the Nations League this month. He ditched his pragmatism to prioritise rotation, which has led to more questionable tactical decisions. I mean England's squad is packed full of young, vibrant, attacking talent, and while that doesn't necessarily guarantee success, the right mix of personnel should at least mean more goals. More excitement. Bigger threat. It’s obvious that the England squad doesn’t have a spine.

I think it's good practice for the teams that didn't qualify for the world cup, and other weaker teams.
For the big teams it just seems like a bit of a waste of time and energy that could be focused preparing for the big tournaments, or just resting really. Some teams have crazy schedules which end up lowering the performance of their players.

I absolutely agree that France don't even care about the Nations League now. I don't even give a chance to Croatia normally in a game like this.

Denmark - Austria must be really worrying for you as two goals came very early in the game.
Yeah, I was sweating until the end of the game because Denmark's attack was always looking dangerous whenever the ball was on Ericksen's feet! Did you see Ericksen's woodwork in the first 85 minutes? I was on the verge of passing out. BTW, it was a fantastic game, with both teams playing fantastic attacking football................

Christian Eriksen is still a wonderful player and he continues to show this to us.It is over in the Nations League for now and I can say that I enjoyed the games so far a lot. There have been many astonishing results and I have really not many words to say about them. This is just a tournament which includes so many kinds of results. Most of the teams that we can see as powerful ones are just playing without even caring about the games.

We know that players may not want to own this competition, but it is a business that can be very profitable regardless of how the team finishes their campaign. Of course there are pros and contracts to this competition, but maybe the conditions will be different after some of these teams enter the next round as I said above.I'm disappointed with France and England, but Spain and Portugal seem to be trying their best to reach the final again. Portugal, England, Spain and France have played in the final. They are also expected to get there this season but only Portugal and Spain seem likely.
In UEFA Nations I stopped betting because I have lost several times and this is inseparable from the poor performance of the leading teams here so I am now more comfortable watching than betting there 
Regardless of how the individual performances there, their team's performance was still very lacking, especially in terms of finishing which made me frustrated to see some opportunities wasted.

@heruist it’s clear that the top stars are tired and that’s why they’re clearly underperforming for their national teams, and hence it’s not surprising to see that the favourite teams are losing. Also I hope that France doesn’t perform this way when the World Cup begins, because I’ll be disappointed if they crash out in World Cup due to such poor performances.
For example it is possible in Ligue A group 3 there in 3 matches Germany only produced 1 draw but in the 4th game they slaughtered Italy with a good composition.

It is very difficult to predict the matches of the UEFA Nations League. Because no team takes this tournament seriously. Especially the performance of renowned teams is very irregular. They are also losing against relatively weaker teams. And I've lost a lot of bets. The performances of renowned teams, in particular, have disappointed.
Turkey, Greece, Latvia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Norway, Denmark and several other teams look quite serious in this competition. My problem is not why England lost with a large margin, my only problem here is France team. I don't understand why France should be at the bottom of the group. France has its moments. And alternate bad days with good results. Yet they are the reigning world champions. In the end, the players and coaches don't think these Nations League matches are very important, as some coaches give players rest themselves. That would not have happened in a World Cup. France doesn't take it all that seriously. Just like England. You can bet that during the World Cup in Qatar later this year, you will see a completely different France.

Actually I agree with you, I don't see the reason why a country like England filled with experience and quality players will lose to Hungary with such goal difference. I was so devastated yesterday after hearing the score, it got me tired cause I placed a bet on England to beat Hungary but looking at the score before me yesterday it got me tired. Recently am tired of betting in the UEFA nation's league, cause alot of big teams are not performing well, am so tired of placing a bet on any big teams cause I don't trust them.

Yesterday night was a humiliating loss by a big score for England. Hungary beating England 4-0 in an away match by a wide margin. Hungary they surprised me a lot by crashing 4-0 in England. The first stage matches are over. Next matches are going to be on late September now. The matches in September will be the last games before the world cup. And then there will be the World Cup.
That was the three lion's ( England ) worst home defeat since 1928. Do you really think Gareth Southgate can continue with the job ? From the reactions of the home fans, I don't need anyone to tell me this will eventually be a turn of for the fans.

Timo Werner scored a brece against the Italian side which they have always won on five different occasions ahead of the current meetings they had. Netherland also had another hundred percent winning record against Wale's with Memphis Depay scoring the late winner, Louis Van Gaal shouldn't be taken for granted during the World Cup, don't forget the Netherland squad hurt a big country like Spain with Van Gaal as Coach.

England's performance was very disappointing. They have not won any of the four matches. I thought they could play well against Hungary. But they conceded 4 goals, and England suffered a humiliating defeat. Such a bad performance was not expected from a renowned team like England. At the same time Italy has lost 5-2. The Italian players attacked a lot, but Germany was able to dominate from the start of the match. So easily they won this match.
