...

I think Jones is as smart as he is a good fighter. He said he wanted more money to fight Aspinall and he made a remarkable argument... However, Aspinall deserved this fight as the interim belt holder. So, I think Jones preferred trash talk instead of fighting Aspinall in the octagon. Anyway, maybe that's an success and Jones has achieved that too...

By the way, Jones continued to mock the whole controversy by changing his social media profile to a duck wearing a belt...

I think he's trying to look like he doesn't care about the criticism against him...

UFC matchmaker sure would agree Jone vs Aspinall should happen, Dana would agree as well but it seems like Dana doesn't want that to happen. We saw him force someone to fight another he can even make a fight on short notice, more than likely it's not just Jones who decides not to fight Aspinall.

Even if he insists on fighting Pereira, I think it may not also happen. But who knows. If he can get a huge pay when Jones vs Pereira is hyped, I think Jones would prefer this fight and then retire.

It would be very headshaking to speculate or mention that our uncle Dana does not want this fight on Jon chicken legs vs. Tom Aspinall to occur if uncle Dana has already said on press conferences and interviews that the next fight for the championship of the heavyweight division will be Jones' chicken legs vs. Aspinall's long jaw.

However, my prediction is Jon Jones will be having another type of injury hehehehe. The injury was on his shoulder, I predict the next injury will be on his chicken leg hehehehh.

^ Prelim cards are also interesting.  Hope Dominick Reyes will dominate Smith and can climb back up again.
Kai just got into UFC and his debut is a title shot against a veteran. Hard to see him win but maybe he will. He defeated Manel in Rizin by TKO. Kai does have serious grappling skills too.

I think this should be what Dana is doing, looking for fighters from the other promotion and letting them fight. A champ from Bellator and PFL fighting in for unification would be fun.

Yeah, the UFC 310 looks very decent. I think the Rakhmonov Vs Gary could be a better fight to watch than Rakhmonov Vs Muhammad, the belt is not on the line, but it has a better entertaining potential.

Here are the odds for all the fights:

Bryce Mitchell x1.17 Vs Kron Gracie x5.00

Ciryl Gane x1.36 Vs Alexander Volkov x3.14

Shavkat Rakhmonov x1.27 Vs Ian Machado Garry x3.80

Alexandre Pantoja x1.40 Vs Kai Asakura x3.00

Vicente Luque x2.57 Vs Themba Gorimbo x1.52

Michael Chiesa x2.25 Vs Max Griffin x1.66

Clay Guida x6.00 Vs Chase Hooper x1.13

Cody Durden x2.30 Vs Joshua van x1.61

Chris Weidman x2.00 Vs Eryk Anders x1.81

Randy Brown x2.83 Vs Bryan Battle x1.44

Anthony Smith x3.60 Vs Dominick Reyes x1.30

Movsar Evloev x1.38 Vs Aljamain Sterling x3.10

Nate Landwehr x1.62 Vs Doo Ho Choi x2.30

I had no clue that Clay Guida was still active. The guy will be 43 on 8th Dec, so one day after the event. Will he earn himself a win for his birthday? The bookies say No, as he has the highest payout of x6.00.

-snip-I don't like Dana White but this advise from him is really very good.
Although sometimes I don't like Uncle Dana because he's like Mr. Krab but I admit it's good and relevant advice. MMA or UFC fighters who are successful in the octagon usually have a lot of fans and that makes their social media followers grow a lot. Maybe for fighters who spend all their time training they won't be able to see anything else besides fighting and getting money. Even though we know that in this era social media is the place that makes the most money. If in the past people had to collect consumer databases then social media is a place where people are our target consumers.

(however I dont recommend testing that Cheesy)
I agree with your advice not to provoke someone who has cauliflower ears. Although some people look harmless, you can't judge a person by their cover. To someone who doesn't know UFC, Charles Oliveira, who looks like a pizza delivery guy, looks like a harmless young man.  Grin

I would never want to scam a man whose ears are smashed. I think that would be the biggest mistake in the world... Smiley

In Russia, some teenagers and guys break their ears on purpose to make them look like cauliflower, to make them look more dangerous Cheesy Often they are from Dagestan and around it region, as wrestling is number one sport there. My next door neighbour from previous place where I rented flat had cauliflower ears, he was an old guy "alcohol was his natural body smell" (it was impossible to stand next to him in elevator). And he does not look dangerous at all. By this I want to say that not everyone with smashed ears are dangerous (however I dont recommend testing that Cheesy)

That must be the reason Figgy has that colored hair every fight  Grin Working in physically demanding jobs must have helped Merab to be this huge. The pressure of being illegal in a country is a struggle to make it in the land that hunts them but I guess it can also be a motivation for him.
Merab's story looks very interesting for me but sadly it's hard to find information about him because he is from a small country that's rarely known for the rest of the world. Information is mostly written in his local language and google translate doesn't translate it well but I agree with you, the pressure of being illegal in a country might help him. There are people who break and there are people who become stronger, Merab is the one that become the strongest. I admire this guy for his achievement.

These fighters should know fighting is not going to be their career forever, some of them don't end up becoming MMA coaches. Having another career besides fighting is necessary or they end up like those guys still fighting at age 40+ while records in their last 5 fights are red.
Demetrious Johnson, aka Mighty Mouse was talking exactly about that topic. In one of his interview or podcast, he said that Dana White was giving them advice about life after UFC. Of course, they can't be fighting for decades and they'll finish their career in their late 30s or early 40s, so they have to feed their families, right? So that's when Dana White advised them to seriously take care of their social media because today it's what generates a good amount of money.
I don't like Dana White but this advise from him is really very good.

I saw this photo on Twitter, too. We know Charles Oliveira came from the deepest depths. He has a story from the favelas to the championship. His chances against Islam are not high, but he should be on the octagon one more time for the belt...

^  I saw somebody posted a pic of Fig as a sushi chef or something in a Japanese restaurant.  Not sure where I saw it tho.  It's either here or at the Twitterz.  But yeah...  Cool to see these guys were just guys like us before they got famous.
Besides being a Sushi Chef, Deiveson Figueiredo was a hairstylist too. Most UFC fighters were poor and struggling every day, that's what gives you the motivation and anger at the same time and if you are strong, you can turn motivation and anger into something that will make you successful and that's fighting.

To me, Merab Dvalishvili is a great example of a guy who went from nothing to something to everything (Sounds familiar? From Conor's interview). This guy illegally moved in the USA, worked physically very demanding jobs and still managed to not only become a UFC fighter but to became an amazing fighter and the champion of the UFC. He is a pure motivation for everyone and reminder that you have no excuses in your life and nothing stops you from achieving what you want.

The drive to be the best in their chosen field is very strong as they have the will to get out of poverty. Because if you have no reason why you want such place, how can you be motivated inside the ring? This kind of stories is also familiar in boxers too. Just like Pacquiao who also have his share of rags-to-riches story. This is why a lot of fans are rooting for these athletes because of their background in life. They are like very good role models in the story of sports.
The training you need to put into this sports is very rigid. Hence, if you don't have the right motivation and stamina, you will easily give up this type of sports. So I commend this UFC fighters for having such strength on this activity.

^  Yup and Fig at 135 has way better cardio than at 125...  As for Yan's next match, I think a rematch with O'Malley is the best option for both Yan and O'Malley.  I think Yan won the first fight.  But that's just me.  You guys can watch it again at MMA Core and judge for yourselves.

And as for Dvalishvili, nobody could beat him except for one guy...  Nurmagomedov.  So the UFC better splash the cash and pay these guys so they go fight.

Dont forget that Fig came from flyweight to bantamweight, and before Yan, he hasnt faced any fighter with level like Yan. Maybe Vera was more or less dangerous, but not Font or Garbrandt. Overall their fight was cool, I just dont know why it did not get fight of the night bonus. And, I dont understand Yans perspectives. Versus Dvalishvili Yas has nothing to show new. I have noticed, that Yans stamina wasnt as perfect as previously. Against Dvalishvili, who is a cardio machine, Yas has low chances. Rematch versus O'Malley, as he has lost via split decision? Or Nurmagomedov?

^  Fig had his moments but overall it was all Yan in most of the rounds imho.  Fig was simply outclassed up there.

But yeah, on to the next event which is coming in a couple of weeks.  So that means no UFC next weekend.  Lol...  How do you guys feel about Pantoja vs a guy who's first match in the UFC is a title shot?  Is he really that good or will Pantoja show the guy what's up?

Here's his Tapology page.

https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/58234-kai-asakura

And even if he beats Pantoja, how does he match up vs the other top guys at 125..?

Petr Yan still has it.  I think he got the 2nd and the 5th round. Not sure which else but he seems to have thrown big shots in the first 3 rounds and Fig only came out stronger in the 4th, flash knockdown can be a winning point for him but didn't convinced the judges. If they just have to showcase their striking skills in all 5rounds, cheating their way to win the round by coming out aggressive in the last seconds would be a sneaky way of doing it. Maybe Petr win against Umar.

Petr vs Figgy is great to watch when both fighters engage while Wang Cong's fight she was pressuring and then suddenly an unexpected strike that wobbled her legs.

You saying Fig has a higher chance to win the match than what the line is showing?  Dunno...  Fig might steal the early rounds with more activity but as this is a 5 rounder, Yan will pick up the pace and win the last couple of rounds.  So I guess this is a live betting opportunity for Yan?  Grin Grin

Yeap, Fig can win this. If Petr usually looses his first rounds, and Fig, as a Brazilian and black belt in bjj uses Sterling tactics of takedown and control, he might win by slip decision. In addition Fig is on 3 win streak and can knock people down.

Is this really Charles? I don't see any delivery bag on him, he looks more like a typical Brazilian motorbike purse snatcher  Grin

Yeap, that is him. In his interviews he told that he has worken on pizza delivery to earn for gym and for life. So there is a high chance that he is on a way to work (or gym). Otherwise who would ride for fun in rain  Grin

Have you guys discussed the UFC 310 Rakhmonov Vs Garry yet? I wasn't around when it was announced.
Anyhow, it's official now. I think it's a decent match-up, both are undefeated (18-0 and 15-0, respectively), one is considered one of the best prospects and material for a long-reigning champion, the other is insufferable cunt that everyone wants to see beaten. Will Shavkat give MMA fans what they want? Bookies seem to be thinking so, as he's a x1.30 favourite.

And I see Vicente Luque Vs Nick Diaz got cancelled, not sure why.
It was a good match. I saw a poster like this the other day but it wasn't official, so this one is an official match.
Both fighters are undefeated. One of them will lose their undefeated match.
Shavkat probably won't be the one to lose this match but it will still be an interesting match. 1.30 odds bookmakers haven't given Garry any chance. Smiley

(...) Chandler manages to attract viewers and fans, I start to think that he is overestimated. Even though his fights are thrilling to watch, I dont remember seeing something extraordinary in his performance.

Chandler is a great example that the showmanship and an entertaining factor can take you further in the UFC than actual results. Many of his fights are what I call victorious losses, despite the negative outcome, he's remembered in a positive light. i.e. most fans will only remember Chandler slamming Oliveira twice at the end of the fight forgetting about his loss.

He now lost 4 out of his last 5 fights (only winning a total of 2 in the UFC) but even after the last loss he will still be highly valued. He's ranked 7th at the moment and I don't think they will match him up with anyone ranked below him. I'll be guessing he'll be fighting again with either Dan Hooker or Justin Gaethje. Chandler Vs either of them would guarantee a good show.

Friday portion of fun. Will you scam this pizza delivery guy for tips? Cheesy

Anyway, who among you guys are excited for the next event?  I just want two match ups here, the main event with Yan vs Fig and Oezdemir vs Ulberg.  I think I'll just parlay Yan and Ulberg but I have a feeling Fig could steal some rounds and will prolly do enough to win via decision.  Dunno tho...  What do you guys think?  Yan at 1.29 and Fig at 3.50 seems too wide.

Yan is x1.33 favourite and I think rightfully so. He may have lost 3 out of his last 5 fights, but he lost in a good style against very solid fighters (+ I think he was robbed in the O'Malley fight). He's also younger than Figueiredo (31 Vs 36), so Yan should have some cardio advantage if they are to go for a full 5 rounds.
The problem is it's been a while since the last time Yan managed to finish his opponent (2020), so it's very likely it will go to the judges where anything is possible.

And yeah.  And it's a 5 rounder.  If it's just three rounds and at these lines, I think Fig would be value.  But for 5 rounds, it's prolly all Yan at R4 and R5.  Fig's cardio kinda sucks.

Yan corner sucks Cheesy That guy, Artem Levin is his striking coach. That guy has appeared in Petrs camp since second fight against Sterling and Petr has been loosing since then, or his striking tactics since then became worse. On Russian mma forums it is discussed, that Levin is the reason why Yan isnt dominating in striking anymore. Because during fight Levin is silent. He does not give any hints, nor make corrections in tactics. That is why we see in recent fights, that Petr is doing same thing over and over again: lose first rounds but then takes last.

First rounds Petr is doing according to game plan and 50/50 win or lose them.
Middle of he fight: Petr should change something, but nobody says him what to do.
Last rounds: takes them.

That was vs O'Malley, Sterling, Yadong. Same thing. He always looses start and middle of a fight, than thanks to character takes last rounds. Same thing will be vs Figueiredo, lose first two rounds, takes rest.

Grin Grin

Here are the weigh in results...  I can't find the weigh vids for some reason so if anybody sees it, please post.  Tyvm.

Petr Yan (135.5) vs Deiveson Figueiredo (135)
Yan Xiaonan (116) vs Tabatha Ricci (115.5)
Song Kenan (171) vs Muslim Salikhov (170.5)
Wang Cong (126) vs Gabriella Fernandes (126)
Volkan Oezdemir (206) vs Carlos Ulberg (205.5)
Ozzy Diaz (205) vs Zhang Mingyang (205)
Balgyn Jenisuly (135) vs Su Young You (135.5)
Dong Hoon Choi (125.5) vs Kiru Sahota (125)
Xiaocan Feng (115) vs Ming Shi (115.5)
Carlos Hernandez (125.5) vs Nyamjargal Tumendemberel (125.5)
Lone’er Kavanagh (126) vs Jose Ochoa (125)
Quang Le (136) vs Xiao Long (135)
Hayisaer Maheshate (155.5) vs Nikolas Motta (155)
