Guys, I see many of you here haven't made their predictions in the UFC Vegas 46 Multi Master Challenge thread. It's free, guys, so, why not? Wink They are giving away nice prizes in the form of free bets.

Most of the people there bet on Giga Chikadze and Katlyn Chookagian, and it's understandable looking at the odds, but I decided to try my luck with betting on the underdogs. Not in my every pick exactly, but in most of them. I know my chances are slim, but we'll see how it turns out. Anyways, don't forget to make your picks, guys. There's not much time left.

I keep on forgetting jeremypwr’s Multi Master!  Anybody who remembers, please post it in the thread.  I’ll give merits if I have them.  Thanks.  Smiley
~

I will try to do it. Who but you, guys from this thread, should take part in that challenge, in the first place? Smiley

Giga Chikadze face was destroyed after this fight with Calvin Kattar and I didn't expect to see this outcome, but that is the beauty of MMA.
I think that he started good this fights but we again saw how strong weapon elbows can be in this sport, they can cut you like a razor.
~

They say Giga lost because of his bad cardio, and it looks like it was definitely the case. It's quite hurtful when you lose not because your opponent has better technique than you, but by reason of your physical condition, but that's what often happens in sports.

I always forget about how long Chikadze has been around, and no doubt before this fight he was considered one of the better fighters. Although, I actually think his recent claim to fame has been challenging Alex Volk, and a bunch of other fighters which are clearly out of his league. I'm wondering whether he suspects its his only chance to get a belt, because times running out for him age wise.

I only looked at Chikadze's age the other day, and I just checked again, and I'm still surprised. I don't know why, it just seems like hes a younger fighter than he is.

Real question for Calvin Kattar is who will be his next opponent in this featherweight division, other than champ we have four names ranked higher than him:
Max Holloway, Brian Ortega, Yair Rodriguez and Chan Sung Jung.

Definitely not Max Holloway imho, as he fought him before Chikadze. There is a 1% chance he will fight Holloway, because this fight was year ago and got a fight of the night award. Maybe UFC bosses will make a rematch. Max is top1 now, perhaps his next opponent will be Ortega, and the winner (Max) will face Volkonovski. It will be Max third fight against Alexander. And Korean zombie will fight Ortega next.

^  Wasn’t Zabit removed from the rankings due to inactivity then eventually released from his contract?  I think I’ve read a tweet or an article somewhere.  But yeah..  The event wasn’t as good as I thought it would be barring the main event which didn’t disappoint.  Well I was disappointed with the result.  Lol.   I really thought Chikadze was on his way up.

Time to move on.  Next event looks parlayable but the dogs are barking at the main and the co main.  Ngannou now at 2.20 and Fig at 2.48.

UFC 270 Countdown:  Full Episode

There was something along those lines. He was definitely removed from the rankings, at least at one point, but I am not sure he would be let go of his contract, especially as his last fight was in 2019 and he had health issues. At the time of his being removed from the rankings it was a year and a half of inactivity, and honestly, especially it being for health issues, I don't understand the move on UFCs part. Maybe him being nmb. 3 in the division had something to do with it, but still...

Anyway, his coach reported that he's back with the UFC so things can still get booked...

Well, it is almost 2 years now and I really miss Zabit Magomedsharipov and his long surname, but yeah it is always health issues, and I think because of inactivity of almost 2 years the UFC has decided to take him out of the rankings, well maybe that is the reason, and we can see from wiki that on September 2021, Mark Henry announced that Magomedsharipov would be returning to the UFC soon, nothing more and that is the last time we have an update about Zabit Magomedsharipov,

Here is the last post of Coach Mark Henry on October 17 2021 about Zabit Magomedsharipov and his brother Khasan Magomedsharipov, on a wedding day, congratulating them, and from my point of view I think that Zabit Magomedsharipov is not feeling well, and is still recovering from something, well this is just an observation regarding the photo and the way he stands,

It appears the arrogant Giga has been humbled. This is a fighter who is very conceited to name a kick after himself. Also, in much of his interviews before this fight, he always told everyone that his next fight will be for the championship. He was not talking about his next fight and the next opponent in front of him. However, Calvin Kattar will be Giga’s most unforgettable opponent because he was an opponent who made a son out of Giga hehehe.

Father and son picture

Yeah...  I guess you could say that.  He was obv looking past Kattar and he was thinking he had 145 in the bag.  Entering the top 10 is one thing but being matched up vs somebody in the top 5 is another thing.  We just saw it with Chris Daukas who I’m a big fan of.  And we could see it next with another fighter I like, Rafael Fiziev.  He’ll get tested vs Dos Anjos next month.

https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/events/83406-ufc-fight-night

Only now managed to watch Kattar vs Chikadze fight. And here is what I have noticed. Giga has huge problems on mid distance. He ate almost every jab, not to mention that also every Kattar elbow hit the target (as a proof - look at Gigas face). He was good on long distance, ground is also good (he wasnt submitted), clinch was moderate, but mid range was a disaster. He has to do something about it. He was on a 7 win streak and was too confident before fight. But now he is even two steps behind title fight due that loss.

Chikadze couldn’t handle the forward pressure for 5 rounds and he was getting tired as his movement seemed a little bit labored starting at the second round.  Looking at the rankings, his next match up might bode too well for him either unless it’s a guy totally outside the top 15.

I like how Giga fights but I'm glad that he was beaten badly. I don't think he was really focused on Calvin. Calling out other fighters and talking about title fights when you have a tough opponent right in front of you is never a good thing in the fight industry IMO.

I'm still unsure if Ngannou or Gane for UFC 270. I might just bet on under 2.5 and by KO/TKO.

For the co-main event, I'm taking Figueiredo.

I like how Giga Chikadze fighting style as well and from that fight point of view Chikadze is really dominant in the first rounds with his striking, and Calvin Kattar would mostly be pressured by Chikadze's Right straight, and those kicks was tremendously advantageous, but perfect timing is pretty much important in the fight and I think 1 wrong move of Giga Chikadze by showing his vulnerable side has potentially caused him this lost, and in my opinion, Calvin Kattar has a good chin than Chikadze needs to result in giving those kicks massive impact that Kattar have anticipated, to get those takedown, that tremendously caused Giga Chikadze to drained his stamina to gas out on the end of the fight.

Francis Ngannou is a power puncher that can result in a big 1 punch KO on Ciryl Gane, but it could be harder for him because the speed and agility of Gane can prove to have a worth and more advantageous in the fight, for me, I am for Ciryl Gane all the way,

The Problem is Giga Chikadze has gas out that is why Calvin Kattar's elbow's and all his strikes are now connecting to Giga Chikadze resulting in massive damage to the face, and in my opinion, this is due to Giga Chikadze struggling to get away from submission, and there is an instant that Chikadze gets some adrenaline rush towards his body that resulted in getting away from Kattar's submission attempt but at a cause of fatigue and gassing out from the remainder of their fight, Calvin Kattar is one durable dude to pull something like this, and if they fight again on a rematch, I would still go with Giga Chikadze, because I know that Chikadze is a learning fighter, he surely learn in every fight he has.

I'm still unsure if Ngannou or Gane for UFC 270. I might just bet on under 2.5 and by KO/TKO.
Head says Gane, while the heart is telling me Ngannou. Ngannou does seem distracted about his contract, and specifically how much he can earn. I'm wondering if his heart is to be questioned, and he might fall victim to looking beyond this fight. Gane I don't see knockout out Ngannou, but I absolutely see him out boxing, and working Ngannou to a unanimous decision which is likely the bet I'll make.

For the co-main event, I'm taking Figueiredo.
I feel like its probably Figueiredo turn this time around, I just can't bet against Moreno. Their first fight could have been fight of the year, and I believe it did get fight of the night. The second fight I wasn't expecting a submission from Moreno, but it happened. Its either going to be Figs turn to get a win or Moreno completing the set with a surprise knockout?

I'm for Ngannou, he's got massive power. He might be distracted by a series of jabs by Gane and probably leg kicks but if he finds an opening it's going to be a bomb waiting to explode. He had lost against a heavyweight as well so he's going to be patient with this fight as he learned from the previous fights and look for the right opportunity.  They are sparring partners I think they both know each other's power. If Nganouu however will have blood on his eyes browse because of jabs, it could be the cause of his loss.

Calvin Kattar VS Giga Chikadze - LOST

Well, pretty much I am not the only one upset with the result, but still, even though Giga Chikadze lost to Calvin Kattar, Chikadze is still one of the best strikers, and you can see from their exchange that Giga is very dominant when it comes to Striking versus Calvin Kattar, but Kattar sure has a plan in stoping this, as soon at Calvin Kattar sees an opportunity when that kick from Giga missed Calvin Kattar just plunge and really wants that takedown so badly, and I think that is the one that makes Giga Chikadze gas out from struggling from that position Kattar is pressuring him so much, well strikers like Chikadze tends to lose stamina over time because of pressure from a wrestler, and Struggling just adds up to his adrenaline rush, isn't really pit if you are on the ground, this gives Kattar the edge to be dominant on their last rounds.

Katlyn Chookagian VS Jennifer Maia - WIN

There is no question Chookagian is surely dominant when it comes to her reach, strength, and takedowns that really score massive on their fight, so there is no need for analysis here Katlyn Chookaigian is just dominant over Jennifer Maia,

Finally, the fight we all been waiting for.

UFC 270

Here it comes and yes the fight that I am truly waiting for, and yeah there are so many matches that I surely win bet on and give my picks so let's get it on.

Zabit Magomedsharipov was removed from the rankings and i think it is unfair because he was supposed to fight on August 29, 2020 but Yair Rodríguez pulled out of the fight and after that Zabit Magomedsharipov was struggling with his health issues as well relating to his immune system and i think he underwent surgery and hopefully he will be back this year. He was ranked 3 when he was removed and a couple of fights and he could be the title contender.

You hit most of them except that Calvin Kattar. We expect too much from Chikadze and every time we do it, it seems the opposite is what's happening just like with Nunes the last time. Worse is that we bet huge money to earn from the odd 1.4 for Chikadze.

From prelim to the main card, there is no KO in UFC Vegas 46 but Viacheslav Borshchev vs Dakota Bush fight.

Brito also let me down, especially because within about a minute or two of the first round opening, he basically carried his opponent willy nilly then proceeded to gas out the rest of the rounds. Kattar did fantastically well, I guess I was semi correct in that he didn't want to get punched up as much, so instead of being folded, he decided to fold his opponent, and my good what a beat down.

Bit of a reality check for Chikadze, which will likely help him with his career rather than hinder it. He was getting too far ahead of himself by calling out Alex.

The favorite of the match is totally Giga Chikadze. I thought Chikadze would dominate the match, a striker chikadze with really good technique. I'm glad I stayed away from betting on this match. Going back to the match again, Giga's ground play was almost nonexistent. In the first round, Giga lost his balance while kicking high, then Calvin Katar made good use of this mistake and took it to the takedown. Giga seemed to have lost almost all of his strength in the first round, Calvin harris also constantly pushed Giga to the wires in the 2nd round and stood at boxing distance. This distance was a big disadvantage for Giga, he didn't even use his kicks in almost 2 rounds. If you ask me, Calvin Katar unlocked Giga with his elbows. With each attack of Giga, Calvin counter him with an elbow blow.

Here are the full results

I did one dirty on Kattar by picking Giga over him. I'd love to see him in a rematch against Zabit. With Zabit's time off, I'm thinking it would go in Kattar's favor this time. But boy was this a long event, only two fights finishing early, but especially with the main fight, i would rather it go the distance than a flashy uninspiring KO. Not bad for the beginning of the year.
