Did anyone heard about Bobby Green collapsing after weight-ins? That just reminded me about bodybuilders and how they are preparing for weight-ins in similar crazy way with kidney failures, dehydration and other issues.
We all saw many times that after weight-ins some guys gain so many weight before the fight and there is something seriously wrong with this system and things need to be changed.
Weight cutting is a major issue in MMA and majority of the fighters cut too much weight, some of the fighters fighting in 155 pound division walks around 180 to 190 pounds, Alexander Volkanovski who is the 145 pound champion at one point was weighing over 200 pounds, these fighters will cut huge amount of weight which is really dangerous and in my opinion there should be a standard and they need to adopt the One FC method as they can only fight in the walk around weight which means they will not allow you to dehydrate just loose too much weight and there is a ratio on how much you can hydrate back which is fair and healthy for the fighter.

UFC 258 is live and i am waiting for the main event, i am expecting an upset and Burns winning the belt  Grin.

Few hours left for start of UFC258 and it's crazy that I am already thinking about next UFC259 Jan Blachowicz vs Israel Adesanya Smiley
Kamaru Usman vs Gilbert Burns are old training partners so I don't think there are many secrets between them and I would surely like to know who was better in their mutual sparring sparring session.
Bookies have set Usman as heavy favorite and I agree with that, as he is a beast with only one lost fight so far and that was back in 2013.
Burns is a great jiujitsu fighter and he was better than Woodley in last fight but Usman is on whole different level.
I see this fight going all five rounds and Usman win by decision.

Kevin Gastelum vs Ian Heinisch is so tricky for me to choose.
I never watched Heinisch fights so far and Gastelum is coming after 3 defeats from Hermanssonm,Till and Adesanya.
Odds are so low on Gastelum win that I am not willing to take a risk here.

Check the countdown and don't miss the start of this event:

^  Burns had covid last year.  Pretty sure he’s ok now.  And here’s something to think about...  So it looks like Usman had a falling out with his gym Sanford MMA, where he used to train with Burns and other fighters like Vicente Luque.  Now Burns has all these fighters who used to train with Usman telling him what Usman’s weaknesses are.  So it’s gonna be a pretty interesting match up.

UFC 258 is in the corner and my picks for this fight card is Chris Gutierrez, Philip Rowe, Miranda Maverick, Ricky Simon, Maycee Barber and Belal Muhammad. I wanted to bet on Burns to win the fight but now i am confused because Kamaru Usman is undefeated and he was able to overcome his obstacle and Burns had COVID and whether he is completely cured and whether it will affect his fighting is my doubt.

The thing with Bellator is they like to make match ups with one guy being waaay better than the other guy.
Bellator usually does that kind of match ups but we now another big time debut coming up, Anthony Rumble Johnson and Yoel Romero will be facing each other and making their debut in April. The only thing i do not like with them is moving the lighter division champion to face the upper division champion, in UFC we call that the double championship fight but in Bellator the difference in size in obvious.

And yup, I could see Burns winning here too.  Dunno..  Just a gut feeling.  Lol.  Maybe I just don’t like Usman that much cos he’s kinda boring.
Even i do think Burns has the ability to defeat Usman, Burns might win by submission and that is what i expect if they ever go to the ground.

Glover Teixeira will be back up for UFC 259 Jan Blachowicz vs Israel Adesanya in case some of this two fighters have any issues.
I am looking at recent Adesanya photos and he is not gaining much weight and muscles at all, and no plans for doing that, so Blachowicz will be much bigger fighter here.
Let's not forget that Adesanya switched from middleweight to light heavyweight category.

Bellator is kind of memed about where all the UFC rejects go to retire, but they can have some fun events from time to time. I'll be honest I don't particularly tune in all that often, as its usually quite the skill gap in fights, or the two fighters aren't of particularly good quality.

They have some great fighters including famous Cris Cyborg and Ryan Bader but I don't watch all the fights in Bellator.
Let's be honest and say that Dana White and UFC team did amazing thing last year with promotion and fight island, and not just for MMA but for all sport in general.

I'll be aiming to get my predictions up tomorrow for the Usman card. I feel a tad more confident looking at t his card being a little more familiar with the fighters. Controversially, I might see a Usman upset on the cards, what are peoples thoughts on this?

Alistair Overeem looked scary before USADA started testing the fighters and once they started testing everyone for performance enhancing drugs many fighters looked completely deflated

A lot of people thought that Overeem form was gained thanks to taking steroids and dirty stuff, but only few knows that Overeem once focused on strong man training program to advance from light heavy to heavy. Some information about that can be found on https://www.muscleprodigy.com/alistair-overeem-workout/. He had changed his fight plan. At first it was pure strength, that he had switched more to tactics.

Who is a lot of people? Incels on the internet? Every fighter gets accused of taking something, even non-fighters who have undergone huge body transformations and it's usually just by people who don't know what they're talking about or are envious. I'm not saying fighters don't take stuff as obviously some have been caught out in the past and Overeem did fail a test for high testosterone at one point but it's tough to get away with it these days, but without evidence it's pointless speculating as you can get into these physiques with the right training and diets without the use of PEDs.

Overeem had somewhat of a decent run before the loss.  He’s not over the hill yet or anything imho.  I mean he should’ve won vs Rosentruik if not for that nasty punch at the last 5 secs.  He did well vs Walt Harris.  And had a really great win vs Sakai.  But after this loss...  Dunno.  He could be near the end of his run at the UFC.

There is an unspoken rule, that Dana White fire people after 3 straight losses, if they are just a regular fighters. Overeem has only 1 loss streak so far, and he is a star. People would definitely buy tickets or PPV if they know Overeem is fighting. I think it is too early to think he will retire. Like you said, he "had a great win vs Sakai". Overeem still can an interesting fight.

I doubt that's true. Dana isn't going to fire anyone if they're still bringing in eyeballs. If they're washed up and aren't bringing anything toe the promotion then that's when they go. There's always lots of great up and coming fighters so old heads need to make way at some point.

This whole UFC is just run by one man and cannot manage all of their fighters because there are lots of them actually. so they need to do the cleaning process every year but of course, this is something they don't talk about because it is taboo or forbidden to talk about it in their contract. Those poor fighters, they needed to win to stay in the competition and those who will lose without having any popularity remain will be kicked out. It's the same in the NBA, right? those players that haven't show any improvement will likely go to China after their contract is finished.

Dana has an entire team underneath him managing and booking the fighters. He will actually do very little in organising most fights other than some of the bigger fighters who will go straight to him. Dana isn't even the owner of the UFC anymore but just the figurehead.

I wonder where those UFC fighters go when they are done in UFC?

The UFC isn't the only MMA promotions. Most go the Bellator and that's seen like the lower league and second best to the UFC. Cris Cyborg went there after she got fired from the UFC. Some fighters are even going to BKFC which in Bare Knuckle Fighting. Paige Van Zant had her first fight there last week.

It's like the English Football Championship compared to the Premier League. The best fighters usually move up to the UFC and the rejects get sent down to Bellator.

He had changed his fight plan. At first it was pure strength, that he had switched more to tactics.
Alistair Overeem is a technical fighter and the biggest advantage he had during his early days was the intimidating look he had with a perfectly chiseled body and his kicks were devastating but later on when they started test fighters his shape might have changed drastically but he was still fighting the top opponents while some of the fighters who had those chiseled bodies were a shell of their former self after that.

Dont know much about NBA rosters. But those fighters who are fired UFC usually find their new home in Bellator (second best place to be as a fighter), ONE, Rizin (founded by former Pride owner). And of course there  are a lot of local organisations.

Fun fact: fired UFC fighters wish to get in Bellator. Bellator fighters that are signed with UFC later, usually becomes champions.

Is there anyone who wants to try a PVP sports betting? Check this https://tru.bet/ (ANN) I registered earlier and got a BTC.00012 welcome bonus. I also opened up a small bet on UFC (Usman vs. Burns) using that money.

Take my bet for fun's sake. I'm not sure if there are any users that are MMA fans there yet.

I don’t think anybody who knows what their doing would lay those kind of odds to bet against you.  Usman is around 1.35 in all of the lines in most books I checked.  Lol.

Edit:  Vids.

Speaking about Volkov - great performance. He deserves a rematch against Derrick Lewis. Lewis is top4 (Volkov top5 now). Volkov was leading in fight against Lewis, but when there few second till the fight end, ate a heavy punch and was TKOed. If not that punch, he would have won that fight by majority decision.

True giant with lots of muscles, steroids, drugs. But this picture is already 8 years old. That is a huge gap. Remember yourself 8 years ago Cheesy

I was not expecting so easy win for Alexander Volkov but he dominated Overeem, broke his nose, and it is time for him to finally retire as his UFC title dreams are now over, but knowing what other fighters did in his situation and the fact that he could earn more money for one more fight is always tempting.
Volkov on other hand is calling for championship title fight and he wants a belt now, but let's look who is ranked better than him, Derrick Lewis who defeated him, so there is potential for rematch if he beats Blaydes in next fight, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Curtis Blaydes (defeated him), Francis Ngannou and champ Stipe Miocic.

And Another thing Alexander Volkov did a great job with Overeem, He surely destroyed Overeem in round 2, Although I really like Alistair Overeem back then right now I think that he seems slower than before, and I don't know about everybody here Alistair Overeem seems to develop belly plop Grin
Alistair Overeem looked scary before USADA started testing the fighters and once they started testing everyone for performance enhancing drugs many fighters looked completely deflated and Overeem in one such fighter and with COVID protocol when most of the gyms were closed for months you should expect some belly for some of the fighters Cheesy. It is time he retires from UFC and if he really wants to compete he can perform in other organisation where the competition is not that high.
