I have missed the Dustin Poirier VS Conor McGregor fight but I have made a bet on McGregor, men! after watching the highlights Poirier is really one tough bastard to crack, At first you would think that Conor McGregor is winning it but apparently he got stunned by Poirier barrage of punches,

I really think it was a great fight even though I have lost on my bet, watching it was really an amusement We could see that Dustin Poirier had leveled up after that fight he really got a heart of a lion to never give up.

I'm gong for Sandhagen I think in the co main event. I just love watching him fight, he always brings something to the table, and think he'll be too much for Edgar. I'm undecided on the rest of the fights at the moment, but I'm thinking that Volkov could just edge this fight if he stays out of trouble, and avoid those power shots which I do believe he's more than capable of doing.

The next coming months we've got some top fights though, 2021 is absolutely stacked in terms of main events, as long as none of cancelled of course.

I think that Volkov has no chances against Overeem. Even though Overeem is not in his prime and best monster form, he is still on other level than Volkov. Volkov only chance is a lucky punch that will daze Overeem and then TKO. But, Overeem can survive a lot of damage and his monster power will simply blow Alexander from the octagon.

Another great fight is Edgar vs Sandhagen. Top4 vs Top2 fighters. I guess the winner of this fight will have a title fight next.

And Clay Guida is always fun to watch. I think both fighters will small opponents face to blood and will to a standing punch exchange frequently Cheesy Both are on a loosing streak and has nothing to lose.

Personally, I don't want the trilogy just yet. I want to see Conor earn that right by taking out another top fighter within the division. There are far too many talanted fighters within the division to simply focus on the two. Conor had his chance to introduce himself once more, but he didn't take it. Poirier did. I also think it makes sense for Dana to try, and get Conor to fight as many fights as possible. After all, win or lose Conor brings fans from all walks of life, something that many fighters cannot do.

Justin vs Poirer?
Conor vs Justin?

I think Justin has to be within a shout with either one of them. I think it makes sense for Conor to fight him, and then Poirier, and the winner of the bout for the title.

Well it looks like the story board for a Conor vs Poirier is most likely:

https://twitter.com/DustinPoirier/status/1353809891773833219

Will it be for the lightweight belt? Dana might be looking for this fight, a trilogy for the belt and obviously, more money in the table. Biggest paycheck specially for Dustin.

For the PPV number:

Quote
The Irishman remains in no doubt that, despite his recent records in combat, he is still the sport’s biggest draw. The National News, via Sport Business Journal claim that UFC 257 recorded 1.6 million buys, 1.2m in the United States and 400,000 internationally.

What does everyone think about Jake Paul fighting Ben Askren? It's a boxing match and obviously Askren specialises in wrestling, but I still think this is a risky fight for Logan and could get his ass handed to him. If he doesn't it'll be pretty embarrassing for Askren.

We already have a little discussion. Everyone are welcomed.

McGregor - Poirier trilogy, McGregor - Diaz trilogy, McGregor - Khabib 2 - What next, McGregor vs last blood ? McGregor vs Revenge? McGregor vs reunion? Division is full of talented fighters, why to schedule Conor to fight against them?
Hope Dana White wont follow the lead of money and fans only and makes a fight between someone from the top versus fresh blood.

Conor looked somewhat decent up until the point he was cuddling with the floor. I thought he was outstriking, and dealt pretty well with the takedown of Poirier.
Conor was sloppy and missed a lot of shots, when he connected he never went ahead with multiple combinations and he was just sticking in and getting out and his feet was planted for the leg kicks and he ate a lot of kicks from Dustin Poirier and the game plan was spot on to take his lead leg and you cannot take much kicks and Conor himself addressed that his legs were compromised and cannot feel anything and Dustin Poirier is known to throw great combinations and he ended the fight with his trademark flurry of punches.

I had a prediction nightmare last weekend. I'm actually gutted for Conor, but Poirier absolutely deserved it, for the progress hes made in the fighting game the last few years. Questions remain over whether Conor will keep his word, and continue to fight inside the UFC, and whether or not he still has what it takes. Honestly, Conor looked somewhat decent up until the point he was cuddling with the floor. I thought he was outstriking, and dealt pretty well with the takedown of Poirier.

That's just some normal scene every time a new champion has arisen, we see the former one in a bad state but that does not make them any less than a former champion. Mcgregor still earned the MMA fighters respect especially those who fought him before. I think he needs to rest and come up with a good condition after this one, I hope to see him again in the ring and Yes, I was rooting for this guy too.

@SaShiRaJaVu. Dana’s new storyboard might be Conor versus Nate Diaz trilogy first to make his image recover assuming he gets the victory. Next after this might be to run another storyboard for another trilogy on Conor versus Dustin.
That will be his priority if Conor McGregor sticks to his words that he will be active in the fight game and Nate Diaz trilogy makes sense and if that match up is difficult then he might go for the trilogy with Dustin as the PPV records shows that it was one of the best events they ever had.

Imo, I feel sad no to see old Conor, when he destroys opponents mentally before fight with trashtalk and etc. What we see now - "respect, good fight, congrats". Seems that this is not his style and he had lost his "magic".
It is not because McGregor lost his magic in his left hand but Dustin Poirier is durable and he knows how to take a punch and fight smartly in this division as he already faced many tough opponents and dominated them.

After that Conor would announce retirement (for the third time), even though (if I remember correct info), he still has 4 fight under the contract.
If he remains retired Dana White and the UFC will not force him to return and fulfill their contract, the problems happens if they want to fight else where than the UFC.

To be honest I think there's more money or hype if there's a while before it even happened. Let Connor have a few more fights and Khabib is AWOL for a time then try get the fight together and bill it as their last or whatever or at least Khabib's mighty return for the 30-0 and Connor looking for redemption etc.
The only fight Conor McGregor can have is the Nate Diaz trilogy but the rest of the fights are really difficult for him if he is looking for a Khabib rematch. With the comments from Dana White i do not think that Khabib will return unless it is a GSP super fight or against someone dominating Islam Makhachev if he reaches the title contention and if they call out Khabib he might come out for retribution to avenge his team mates loss.

Imo, I feel sad no to see old Conor, when he destroys opponents mentally before fight with trashtalk and etc. What we see now - "respect, good fight, congrats". Seems that this is not his style and he had lost his "magic". His left hand definitely had lost "magic"... Conor was so pumped for this fight, but had lost. Would be as much motivated to fight Gaethje? Poirier showed how to win Conor (low kicks, kill front leg and punches). Gaethje lands more heavy low kicks. I would bet that he will use same strategy as Poirier and finish Conor in first round. After that Conor would announce retirement (for the third time), even though (if I remember correct info), he still has 4 fight under the contract.

He has always been humble in defeat even in his losses to Diaz and Khabib. That's one thing I do like about him and it's better than the excuses fighters often pile on, though Connor does come out with them as well like the classic 'my leg was a balloon', and he compared his leg to an American football after this fight. The limp seemed a bit exaggerated to me but maybe I'm being too sceptical.

Conor's best bet would be a trilogy fight with Poirier and that looks like the one he's going for as his coach recently told Ariel Helwani: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FU-L1gd0jo

Poirier will probably be very happy with that as well as it's likely the biggest payday he'll get right now win or lose. As I said before, I thought Connor dominated the first round, but he just got shook very quickly, but I think Conor can beat Poirier fairly easy like he did in the first fight. Then move on to someone better assuming he beats Poirier. Diaz trilogy would likely be the next biggest fight assuming Khabib doesn't want to come back for him but I think Connor should get some wins under his belt before they even attempt to try tempt Khabib back. That would kinda be a good last fight for them both to bow out on regardless of the result but I don't really see anyone beating Khabib and I think that's partly why he doesn't want to fight as he doesn't see anyone worthy.

What does everyone think about Jake Paul fighting Ben Askren? It's a boxing match and obviously Askren specialises in wrestling, but I still think this is a risky fight for Logan and could get his ass handed to him. If he doesn't it'll be pretty embarrassing for Askren.

@notblox1. There was news that John Kavanagh said Conor was harrassing the UFC and he was demanding for the rematch immediately. I speculate Dustin will also oblige. This is his chance to earn his retirement money.

@TopTort777. Ben Askren was also outboxed by Damien Maia hehehehe.

Lol.  Askren? Boxing? You must be kidding. Check any of his fights, when he is in mount or punching from being behind. He has so weak punches, even my grandma punches harder. He wins by tko only if the opponent is tired or bored protecting.

Btw would love to watch Khabib vs Olivera fight. Oliveira must be one of the person who could counter Khabibs wrestling (19/30 wins are by submission).

Conor will probably want to fight again with Dustin Poirier in some trilogy match that will only bring money for both of them, but I doubt that will be in year 2021, and now he has long 180 suspension because of injury in his last fight.

Oh, have you guys seen the news about Ben Askren fighting with Jake Paul in boxing match on April 17 Smiley ?
Now he only needs to resist and not go with his wrestling habits in one more money-only fight:

I thought McGregor would win, but I was betting on Porier. It seems to me that McGregor got some insecurity and that's why he's losing. He really is weaker now than before. In 2017 he was a top fighter, but now I don't know what's going on with him

True, this should be an easy fight for McGregor, but looks like his era it's over, Connor, used to be a great fighter but now is more a businessman. If we look at the conference after the fight I would say he bet on his loss... Isn't the same hostile McGregor that he used to be in the past.

No way he faces Gaethje.  Lol.  I mean right after losing to Poirier?  I think we’ll see retirement.  McGregor’s goal since losing at 229 was always a rematch vs Khabib.  There’s no chance of that happening now.  Why fight?  He has all the money and all the other stuff he needs to retire.

Because of a contract. Dana White would not let him so easily. Who would let such a milking cow for free? Cheesy Even though UFC has other loud names, McGreggor, after a row of losses could bring more money due to PPV. He only need to get back to trash talk bad guy style.

By looking on how he spends free time and his expenses, he would not have enough money for retirement Cheesy He got to UEA by yacht. Google showed, that this kind of yacht cost $20-30k daily. Expenses on family and etc. I think that he had spend $50-100k for a trip to "work" to earn $5kk + PPV Cheesy But this only few days of his life. I'm sure he has a lot of money, but he spend a fortune luxurious life.

My take on the picture is that Justin Gaethje should face Conor McGregor and Charles Oliveira should face Dustin Poirier for the title mean while Michael Chandler should face Tony Ferguson even though he is on a two fight loosing streak.

Oliveira vs Poirier would very interesting to watch. I'm more interested in this match than McGregor vs Gaethje.

If Mcgregor didn't win against Poirier, Oliveira could end up the same way. Poirier made it look like Mcgregor is the weakest, he is a big target for everyone because his weakness is already revealed like the leg kick constantly done by Poirier to Mcgregor. It made him inanimated. I lost a little bit of ETH since I bet for him. The next higher he'd face will do the same like Poirier did.
