@FinneysTrueVision. The skeptical me is thinking that Khabib retired only to increase his performance fee. He knows this will increase to $30 million to fight for 30 - 0 versus Conor or GSP hehehe.

He doesn't seem that bothered about the money and think he has stated as such before. If he was he would have fought Connor again for the biggest payday of all time. Regardless, he would have still got his biggest payday for the next fight with or without the retirement announcement especially against someone like Connor.

Agreed but to come out of retirement to fight GSP, however hehehe. It was also complicated with Conor. Khabib did not want to give him any opportunity after the insults made to him and his father.

Also, this news. A victory for Khamzat Chimaev will make him Dana's new pet hehehehe.

Khamzat Chimaev finally has his next opponent in what will be a massive leap in competition for him in Leon “Rocky” Edwards.

There has been no hotter prospect in 2020 than undefeated juggernaut Khamzat Chimaev, who has not broken a sweat in his demolition of three professional UFC fighters within a two-month time span. According to Dana White earlier today on The Jim Rome Show, Chimaev will look to add Leon Edwards’ name to his victims list when the two headline the final UFC event of the year on December 19.

Also, how the hell did Bisping pass medicals and stuff and they not spot he only has one eye. Would he have been allowed to fight if that was discovered?

I dont know. But he got that injury in 2013. Here it is said that he got surgery in 2013 also. He retired in 2019. How he managed to compete? Dont know. Why docs allowed him to continue - maybe it is ok to fight in such injury according to rules, or if the fighter is comfortable to fight like this. Rodrigo Nogueira managed to fight without 1 of his ribs and part of liver somehow...

Very weird case because he was obviously disadvantaged and even handicapped in front of his opponents. And it was highly dangerous because he could become totally blind if he had been injured at his remaining eye.

Quote
In fact, both of his final opponents admitted they targeted Bisping with left hands, knowing the veteran would be unable to see the wide punches coming in from range – with both men dropping him with powerful left hooks.

It is now confirmed and Conor McGregor  is returning in lightweight division 155-pounds with Dustin Poirier fight.

One more thing is that Dana White talked with Khabib and he thinks and have a feeling he may still have one more fight for 30-0:
https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2020/10/ufc-news-dana-white-thinks-khabib-nurmagomedov-wont-stay-retired?taid=5f9be428231a27000133adcd

Always makes me laugh when footballers go down after getting a flick in the face or a toe to the shin. Imagine if MMA fighters did this.
Especially with all the cameras and tech there is today, faking an injury like that is very stupid. Smiley
Not possible in MMA or maybe fighters are smarter.

I don't think either of them should be given a title shot, especially not Connor.
There's definitely a good argument against Connor or Dustin but the thing is, they are the only fighters who won their last fights. Granted that the two lost earlier to Khabib and were able to win one, I don't think their chances for a title fight is lower compared to someone who was beaten badly (Tony) or to someone who was defeated easily (Justin).

I don't know any other names outside those four who deserves a shot. Michael might need one or two fights.

To be honest, I wish UFC will be back to the old format where fighters will have a tournament to win the belt. It would be fun to see these four (or five) to slug it out in one event.

~ I wonder if Khabib will stick to his word and not come back. Seems he might not be gone for good
Nope. He'll rest for some time for sure as he's still mourning but he'll be looking to fight someone after he's done just like what GSP has done.

I'm not the only one who was skeptical then.

^ It's his opinion, let him be. He did well to get a title shot.

Conor is back in the mix now along with Ferguson, Poirier and Justin. There's also Michael Chandler from Bellator.

The Conor vs. Justin fight which is scheduled for January 2021 might be scrapped to give both guys a chance OR that fight itself will be for the vacant title.

I don't think either of them should be given a title shot, especially not Connor. Let him have a warm up fight or two then do a huge fight with someone like Masvidal or Diaz trilogy. Those are the fights people want to see. I wonder if Khabib will stick to his word and not come back. Seems he might not be gone for good:

https://talksport.com/sport/mma/781551/dana-white-khabib-nurmagomedov-ufc-record-30-0/

A rematch with Connor for his 30th fight would surely be the biggest UFC bout in history. Maybe he can persuade his mother for one more fight... or she can persuade him.

Let's get back on Khabib and problems he had before this match with broken foot and X-ray proving that!
Dana White said something about that in press conference after the fight, but now we have proofs.
Khabib was dominating even in this conditions, and that makes him a legend and best pound-for-pound figthers in UFC without any doubt.
He is man of his word, but I think some of his brothers will continue his work in UFC Wink

This shows that he is not a football player lol.

I'm not trying to say that Khabib is not the greatest and not a legend (he sure is), but Michael Bisping had 11 fight in career fighting only with 1 eye. After the fight with Belfort his right eye retinal was detached. He got a surgery and fight fight artificial eye and even become Middleweight champ. Dana and UFC only 3-4 fight found out that Bisping is fighting with only 1 eye, but let him continue fighting till Bisping retired in 2018.

According to UFC president Dana White, the promotion is currently targeting a March date for the highly anticipated showdown between Miocic and Ngannou. White cautioned that the fight wasn’t a done deal just yet but that’s the timeline when the UFC hopes to book the rematch.

Dana is now talking about Khabib wanting to get his record to 30-0. I knew it wouldn't take long for him to try and convince him to come back. He's using the argument that his dad wanted him to get to 30-0. If he does return I hope the opponent is not a soft touch just so he can get his record to a nice even number the way Mayweather did when he faced McGregor.

Maybe Khabibs retirement move was to free the way to belt for Islam Makhachev as they are from same country, coach, train together and they are close friends ?
I assume that is the plan all the way to make Islam Makhachev the next champion but he needs to fight top fighters and needs to win against the top 5 opponents even to get a title shot and it will take a long time to get to that position.

Let's get back on Khabib and problems he had before this match with broken foot and X-ray proving that!

He is a legend of the sport and with a broken toe and still dominating the fight as if the interim champion does not belong with him shows his skills compared to the rest of the fighters, he is well above the pack and i would love to see him continue fighting for the next two years and cement his legacy for the number of title shots as well.

Let's not forget next UFC fight night Hall vs. Silvat is Halloween night special 🎃

I'm not trying to say that Khabib is not the greatest and not a legend (he sure is), but Michael Bisping had 11 fight in career fighting only with 1 eye. Michael Bisping lost 9 fights, and you can not compare him with Khabib or any other fighter.
Remember that you need your legs only to stay on the ground, and Khabib was also fighting, and I don't know nay other fighter with perfect record except Khabib.

Maybe Khabibs retirement move was to free the way to belt for Islam Makhachev as they are from same country, coach, train together and they are close friends ? Cheesy They wont fight against each other for sure. If Islam keeps improving and winning, he might be granted a title shot and face Khabib. Now, when the road is open, Khabib will teach him till Islam becomes champ.

After Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired and UFC Lightweight Champion title is vacant, funny to read that Gaethji claims he is Nr.1 right now. The guy that lasted less than Conor and Poirier against Khabib.

Who is now among lightweights closest one to the belt or title fight ? Conor vs Poirier ?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/betnomis-ufc-prediction-pool-for-ufc-las-vegas-12-hall-vs-silva-ended-5284513

If more of you guys join, that means there's interest...  I could then talk to Betnomi and make a request to bump up the prizes and get more options to win in there like guessing the performance of the night and fight of the night for more prizes to win.

Anyway..  For the event, still haven't made any bets but I'm looking at Holland and Bobby Green parlay and Fili as an underdog pick.

Khabibs father mentioned $ 100 million just as a joke or as something unreachable. It is like "when the lobster whistles on the mountain" (I know, you will understand that phrase  Grin )
Now we know why they do not want the rematch as he was not planning to continue much longer and the retirement of Khabib will open up the division and Conor McGregor will be getting his title shot next if that is what he is looking for and the fight against Dustin Poirier will be a title fight as it will do big numbers and now everyone has a chance to claim the title shot. There is Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson, Dan Hooker in the mix as well.

Anyway, Betnomi is having a free to play prediction pool.  It would nice to get a little support from you guys by joining.  There's a 'resources' section in there to help you guys make your picks.  Wink
I will be making my picks soon, good to see your initiation for the fight fans and shout outs to Betnomi for doing that.

It does not seems like he is really obsessed for a rematch. Rematch would be good, but there is no obsession behind Conor.

But I might be wrong  Grin
Every fighter in the light weight division will have a sigh of relief as no one could defeat Khabib considering the level he is in and now everyone will have a chance to become the champion, Conor was obsessed with the rematch and it was evident will all of his past tweets even though he very well know that he only got a punchers chance before getting taken down.
