Khabib does seem more like a man of his word though, but I would like to see him still fight on regardless. He's still at his peak really. He doesn't seem like he's that fussed about money much either which is why most fighters keep on fighting, but I know he's recently opened up his own gym and is even starting his own MMA production so that money can come in handy. Sometimes not taking money when you can do some good with it is hard to turn down even if you don't personally benefit from it. The money he's earned from past fights won't last forever either and that usually why fighters end up returning, but there's also going to be a lot of hands to feed with gyms and production companies etc so we might not have heard the last of Khabib.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is really rich and he earned much money outside the fight, he is close friends with Ramzan Kadyrov who is the head of Chechen Republic and he is having a close relation with all the Middle Eastern leaders and i am sure they will back him up even if he needs any money and he is on a different league than the rest of the fighters and on top of that he will be taking the lead what his father was doing and they had a school in Russia from the documentary i saw. Even if he returns he will be coming back for the competition and not for money.

I think Dana is meeting with him soon for some reason or another isn't it? Or is that going to be at the next UFC fight?
Dana White will be meeting Khabib this week in fight island and he is trying to pursue him to return for his 30th fight like his father wanted.

Conor McGregor will be finding ways to troll Khabib Nurmagomedov and i am expecting him to start trashing him during the media day and from what i understand Khabib Nurmagomedov is still in the UAE and he might be coming for the fights but i expect Khabib Nurmagomedov might avoid the confrontation and will stay away from the event as he knows the UFC will try anything to put together the rematch.
As much as I'd like to see Connor, and Khabib in the octagon again especially considering it would likely be for Khabib's 30-0 bid, I hope it doesn't happen. Its not because I don't want Khabib to lose, but rather like the integrity of Khabib. He said he was retiring, and it annoys me when fighters or any sportsman announce their retirement only to come back for more money a few months later. I see the Mike Tyson fight as a little different as that was many many years after his retirement, but Connor I believe has announced his retirement several times, only to come back for the money. Its almost like its fishing for hype, and money rather than being genuine.

Well I tend to agree with you and it's annoying when fighters say they're retiring and then don't like Connor did but he was pretty much just throwing his toys out of the pram most of the time, though maybe he was a bit emotional/under a lot of stress with a lot of the stuff that was going on in his personal life with the last one, but Khabib was also emotional after his last fight with losing his father not very long before it. If the fight did happen, I'd probably want Connor to win, because it sets up an interesting turn of events. If Khabib did lose, would be want to reclaim his title meaning he stays out of retirement to regain his belt? The thing is, Connor is the only one that's really got Khabib to act out of anger, and out of character. So, he could be the one to convince him to come out of retirement for a crazy big event.

That's silly. Why would they advertise that since they're always there. Even venues in the UK were allowing spectators in. I'd prefer them to either be none if it's not going to be full. It's interesting hearing the noise of the fight and the fighters talk along with the coaching staff, but allowing a few fans doesn't really do anything for the atmosphere.
I agree, every other sport that I watch, I've been missing the atmosphere that the fans bring, except in the UFC. I love the coach call outs, the talks between fighters, and it gives you another element to the event to appreciate, and that is these guys aren't just muscle, but there's a lot of tactics to the fight.

I love watching a fighter pick up their opponent, and instead of just taking them down there they walk them over to their corner so they can get better advise.

Yeah it's nice hearing the impact of each solid punches and kicks when there are no noisy crowds.

~
UAE and the middle east has some filthy rich fight fans and i bet the ticket charges will be really high for the event.
The VIPs.

It looks like nobody is interested in the co-Main event Carlos Condit and Matt Brown. Are they both too old to your liking? Grin

I'm surprised to see over/under odds for Holloway vs. Kattar match. The under 4.5 at 2.4+ is really tempting.

It's usually the confidence of the fighter that is affected after experiencing losses but he has the confidence, it's why he is still up for one more time with Kattar. Both looks to have a fair record, I hope Max will win this time.
If you look at the fight against Alexander Volkanovski even though the second fight was close he was not confident in close range and trade shots while in the past he usually comes inside the pocket and would dare the opponent to trade shots and he usually comes out wearing down the opponent but  Alexander Volkanovski had a game plan to wear down his legs in the first fight and he followed the same game plan in the rematch as well.

The limited fans in the arena news might only be for marketing and clickbait. Those fans might only be the fighters’ coaching staff, family and friends who are invited by private plane by Dana.

New poster is out for UFC Fight Island Abu Dhabi and soon from January 16 to January 23 we are going to see many great fights and I think most of the people are wondering about McGregor fight.

That's GMT? As In Greenwich Mean Time and not some other US time zone? They normally don't give the GMT times but if so that's at a reasonable time, though I'm guessing 11:30 is when the program starts and not the main card fight. Still will probably finish at 3AM but I'll stay up for it. Most US cards start at that time normally.

I checked early odds for UFC 257 main event and Conor is heavy favorite, and on same card I saw Umar Nurmagomedov from Russia fighting... with 12-0 record, and he is younger cousin of better known champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

One more good news is that there will be limited fans attendance at all three fight cards at Etihad Arena!

Come on tokeweed, make a risky bet Cheesy You are the rich one here! Place few bucks on Kattar as he might disappoint Holloways fan.

If Adesanya moves up to a new division, will he have a champ fight against Blachowicz instantly? Light heavyweight division looks so unstable. Cant point anyone that could make 1-2 title defense. Adesanya is bored in Middleweight right now. Cant see any real threat for him. Adesanya wont move down welterweight as Usman is his friend.

Lol.  Nope.  I’m no rich one.  Pretty sure the people around here who has lots of coins to gamble with and throw around are the Chipmixer boys.

Yugin, notblox..  A couple of bouts you’d prolly watch out for are Hawes vs Imavov and Buckley vs Di Chirico.  Hawes is a beeeast.  And you guys already know Buckley who recently got viral.

^  Yup..  Kattar is a step down in competition for Holloway.  I know people could say that Holloway is 1 - 3 in his last 4 matches.  But who did he lose to?  Beast mode Poirier and two close fights vs Volk.  The second one lost due to bad judging imo.

On the mental side of things, dunno...  But if I get a good price on Holloway, I’m going for him.  Kattar’s line did look good at 2.50.  It’s at 2.35 or worse now in most books.
The problem i see with the career with Max Holloway was that he was riding a good career and he was touted as a long reigning champion but he was confident that he could move up in weight and defeat the top Lightweights which started his downfall, first he tried to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov but he messed up while cutting weight and then he fought Dustin Poirier and the beating he took in that fight might have being his downfall when he fought Alexander Volkanovski.

Calvin Kattar is a good striker as well and it will be a great fight and the result depends upon the confidence of Max Holloway.

He tried Khabib and Poirier because after all, it's a good chance to fight the two to prove. He just failed though. It's usually the confidence of the fighter that is affected after experiencing losses but he has the confidence, it's why he is still up for one more time with Kattar. I am doing some initial research of next UFC fight card and one fight is interesting because two new and undefeated fighters clash Punahele Soriano vs Dusko Todorovic.
Both of them are mostly finishing their fights with KO/TKO, they both came from Dana White Contender Series and they had one fight in UFC.
Before placing any bets for this card I am going to wait more, listen what they say and do more research.
Let's just hope there will be no late canceled fights after covid testing.

I think Soriano can make a takedown he can take the fight on the ground but it will surely base if he really is good on the ground and Todorovic must have a good takedown defense and must keep the fight standing and land his strike with his reach then Todorovic can win this fight but both fighters don't want to have a losing stats so they will fight hard and I think this is a great fight to watch as well, both fighters are undefeated just like in the Adesanya and Costa fight but Adesanya has a reach advantage and skill that no other posses.

The line movement is going towards Kattar.  At first glance I like him..  But only at anything above 2.50.  Holloway has fought better competition and won his last bout vs Volk.  IMHO.  If Holloway’s line improves to around 1.75 - 1.80 or better, I’ll take him.

I don't think Holloway is mentally stable for this fight and it seems that all pressure is on him, but I am also not so impressed with Kattar.
He did win against Dan Ige but lost against Zabit Magomedsharipov who I believe is the real force in this division.

Time goes fast and in no time we are going to watch Max Holloway fight again, and I have to say I miss UFC and MMA...watching so much European football meanwhile Smiley
I am looking early betting odds and Holloway is favorite to win, but I like all card as first even in 2021....give me anything to watch.

Eminem aka Marshall Mathers released short ESPN promo video clip for Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor fight:

^  No idea...  But on days when he isn't cutting weight, Adesanya walks around with a good 200 lbs in him.  That's prolly his normai weight so it shouldn't really be a problem for him to move up.
Adesanya started using the name of Jon Jones to get attention and he got that and till now he was teasing Jon Jones that he will move up and Jones was already calling him out for a long time and once Jones vacated the belt and announced that he will only fight again in the heavyweight division Adesanya decided to move up in weight  Cheesy.

Adesanya is pretty serious about fighting Jones.  He even has a date in mind.  July 2021 during international fight week...  Anyway, we’ll see how he does vs Blachowicz this March.

The lead up to the McGregor vs. Poirier 2 isn't as exciting as the first one. Both men grew - became somewhat mature - and had more respect for each other. In the first fight, Conor definitely won the mind games which he is quite known for. It will be different this time around but I still think he's more superior in striking and he's grown in other areas too. Dustin improved a lot as well, I just don't know if it's enough.
