Ben Askren just announced he is retiring from MMA because of his hip issues
that requiere from him to perform hip replacement surgery!

All the best to Askren.

Bummer...  The UFC would've been better with him around (and successful)...  Imagine him trolling the likes of beasts like Khabib and Usman.  Cheesy

And the trolling on Dana as well. Grin

@SaShiRaJaVu - he faced tougher opponents in UFC and I would say that he had been exposed or it is just the injury that really forced him to retire. I guess with his BTC investments, he really know that next year will be big so rather than forcing his body to fight, he will probably sit around in the next six months and watch his BTC wallet,  Grin

Well, Ben Askren will be missed and mostly he surely earns the title for the fastest knockout in the UFC history of 5 seconds but no pun intended because it is true but at least he will be getting more earnings when BTC hits another all-time high.
Ben Askren wanted to test himself inside the UFC and wanted to create history but he got in the record books for all the wrong reasons and the record for the fastest knockout will stay forever as it is not easy to break that record and in reality Ben got knocked out before that but the referee took a couple of seconds to call the fight off and that is why we have that 5 seconds. Ben is a smart investor and he was the most vocal MMA fighter when it comes to bitcoin investment and i liked his trash talking skills as it was fun.

It would have been great to see Ben Askren around as he brought some freshness to the division and yet another loss he knew it will be hard for him to fight for the title anytime soon and that was the reason he came back from retirement and it was great while it lasted and now the hip injury forced him to retire, even if he was not injured he would have retired as he is a smart fellow and made some wise investment and that too in crypto currency and he is vocal about it.

Pretty much he is so vocal about buying Bitcoin with Etoro and pretty sure he got plenty of response mostly negative but I like this one pretty much, it is 80% real I am saying this because of most market on Altcoin is a total scam project, So I am saying stick to a limited number only that has potential,

Yeah it would be fun Smiley
He would probably lose easy from any other fighter in UFC as his 3 previous fights.
I guess his time has passed, and he learned that UFC is not the same level as other MMA organisations

All the hype and trash talk just got derailed and he was not even able to showcase his skills in the biggest organisation and his desire to come back after retirement from OneFC and even before fighting the elight fighters he was making huge plans to capture the belt and facing GSP and Khabib at 165 and now he announced his retirement, i thought he will be able to have a good fight with someone as he was calling out everybody but nothing happened and now he is gone Roll Eyes.

Paul Craig fought really well and he took this fight in a short notice and the real opponent for Shogun Rua was Sam Alvey  but he got replaced due to injury and looking at the fight i would like to see the rematch and Paul Craig with a full camp and then Charles Oliveira impressed with his knockout performance and i would like to see him face Edson Barboza or Al Iaquinta next.

^  It won't be boring if you place some bets here and there...  Grin

The last round got Jacare.  If it weren't for that final exchange, the split decision would've went to his favor.  IMHO.

Yup! I agree it will not be boring if they have placed a bet on it, I think the excitement will be on the thrill of really watching it when there is risk involved and apparently Jan Blachowicz does win and I think that is a thrilling fight because Souza had put a great fight,

Well, Regarding the main event Mauricio Rua VS Paul Craig that turns out in a Draw and Antonio Arroyo VS Kevin Holland fight that gets canceled I guess the main wasn't that bad but in my opinion, there is not much excitement to it but pretty much it is a great deal of a fight.

Jan Błachowicz won against Ronaldo Souza with split decision.

Only two matches ended with KO in UFC fight night 164 Charles Oliveira and James Krause.
most of other fights where also decision wins. No bonus awarded.

This boring UFC event ended finally.
Lets move on.

Yeah, I wasn't able to watch the fight but it's good though, because I read that it was such a boring UFC event. There's a lot of comments in Twitter specially from fighters which is funny,  Grin

I guess the two just being careful in their chess game match, a win is a win though for Blachowicz. Smiley

I am yet to watch the fight and usually the split decision goes to the home town hero and not sure what happened here  Cheesy and Maurício Rua went to a split draw and the odds for that in any sports book would have been huge. Have to watch the highlights when its available to watch those fights now.

This boring UFC event ended finally.

I was not interested in this even because none of my favorite fighters were in it but co main and main event was a hard fought battle looking at the results.

However, I agree that Souza has multiple injuries and old as hell and very slow and Blachowicz can take advantage of that. So I give Blachowicz the advantage as well, either by KO/TKO.
I'll go with the opposite. I believe that Souza still in good shape, had a good stamina and don't have any problems regarding about standing for whole 5 rounds. But Nah such thing is very rare in the Light Heavyweights anyways, what matters here is how hard puncher you are and how strong your chin is. With that being said, Jacare can definitely survive in his new division. He is not a glass chin tho Grin. I'll go with Jacare via KO Smiley.

Good tune up here by Brian Ortega. One year after that humiliating loss to Max Holloway. This is going to be an easy fight on paper for Brian but his one year of inactivity and the possible mental effects on the way he was stopped on his first career defeat. The Korean Zombie will also enjoy the home crowd advantage. My prediction is Brian Ortega wins a decision. He will be careful in this fight.
Fighting in your hometown is like UFC giving the fighter an extra advantage in winning the fight. Brian Ortega maybe younger than Chan Sung Jung but the experience in the octagon of the Korean Zombie is something to watch out for, most specially the crowd will surely cheer for him. Ortega has the leg reach advantage while Chan Chung Jung has the reach advantage.

The reason i am giving Blachowicz the advantage is because Souza is coming off a loss to Jack Hermansson and his age and he is battle tested and have multiple injuries and he is moving up a division,
Whoah! I didn't notice it. Jacare is now a Light Heavyweight contender for real Shocked. I forgot that he originally came from the Middleweight division lol. Anyway, I agree to you somehow but I honestly disregard his new weight class among the disadvantages we can think of. Here's the simple logic, Jacare and his trainers won't decide to go in the higher division in the first place if he is not comfortable with it, right? Hmm facing adjustments are inevitable of course but I'm confident he could used to it. The bottomline, I'm not bothered for him moving but his age does Grin.

I guess instead of retiring, Jacare chooses to move up in weight and be a LHW. But he can't taken lightly here by Blachowicz just because he is way past his prime, Souza still possesses one of the best overhand right in my opinion. And you don't want to be in under Jacare in the mat, because he is a strong finisher.  However, I agree that Souza has multiple injuries and old as hell and very slow and Blachowicz can take advantage of that. So I give Blachowicz the advantage as well, either by KO/TKO.

No way... Korean Zombie is clear favorite here for me.
It will be good fight anyway.
Korean Zombie aka Chan-Sung Jung is a really exciting fighting and i remember his title fight against Jose Aldo and it was a competitive fight until the Korean Zombie dislocated his shoulders during the fight and  one seeing that Aldo finished him after seeing his shoulder dislocated and then his really great  fight against Yair Rodríguez he was winning the judges in every round and that reverse elbow cost him the match in the last second but Brian Ortega is a different animal altogether, he is good with his hands and improving and he is a legit black belt and if he catches him in a guillotine or triangle it is game over.

I will have to give the edge to ORTEGA in this one and I read he is the opening favorite
This fight card is not for another month out so we should focus the attention on the ones that are sooner

No way... Korean Zombie is clear favorite here for me.
It will be good fight anyway.

I posted it because most of the current fights are boring for me now.
I saw it confirmed on Twitter and I posted it here.

I was gonna bet on Blachowicz but then I saw how juiced up Jacare is (and the fight is in Brazil.  USADA doesn't collect the samples themselves there afaik).  He's yuuuge af at LHW and he's gonna gain more in 24 hours after weigh ins.
Even if there is no USADA active in the country i am sure they will be collecting samples and all the fighters that moved up to light heavyweight got knocked out but i do not think Blachowicz will knock Jacare out but it will be a tough fight and if Jacare can take him to the ground then it will be a battle as he is the best ground fighter and age is the only negative aspect and he lost some of his past fights.

Edit:  Thinking of putting some action on Jacare...  Anybody know how organized crime operates in Brazilian sports events?  Grin
Is it even possible now a days.
