In local transaction you should be aware in the scammers because there are lots of people that still want to steal your money.
Bitcoin is the blessing which nobody cannot resist with its golden value. The bitcoin saves all people from poverty so the demand in here is quite big.

Agree on price and procedures in advance and never do a transaction with anyone who tells you that it will be used for something illegal

i agree cameras would help with security, but that's a tradeoff between security and privacy i'd generally go for the latter myself

One of the main reasons someone does a transaction face-to-face, using cash, is to protect financial privacy.

Recently. LocalBitcoins began requiring account verification (referred to as KYC / identity verification) for all sellers.

Two alternatives, HodlHodl.com and Bisq.Network, are now functional, are useful for face-to-face trading, and do not require identity verification.

Should be exchanged in public places. Mentioning a second person could also help deter potential muggers. simply having a friend sitting a table away can help if a dangerous situation arises.

Great tips for local transactions. My favorite method is to buy BTC, meeting up with the seller directly in public.

Nice tips sir, i never trade with bitcoin locally. I would try your advise someday. My only main concern about trading with BTC locally is my safety. Have you heard the news about the guy who was forced by a thief to transfer ALL his BTC balance to the theives BTC address.

And yes, it continues to happen:

Bitcoin buyer robbed of RM1mil in cash

Heh, "A police spokesman told the Straits Times that they were also investigating the origins of [buyer]'s money, which he carried in cash."

And though no violence was involved, here's a very large deal where the buyer almost got scammed:
