It must be true that Ngannou is the heaviest hitter in UFC thats why its unfortunate to see that if he wins against Fury, Ngannou won't get a belt. So the reason the Ryiad WBC created a belt specially for this fight lol

This is somewhat funny https://bloodyelbow.com/2023/09/09/francis-ngannou-vs-tyson-fury-wbc-belt/

The article didn't say a belt name but they may comeup with something the same as BMF.

The WBC always manages to insert themselves into these high profile events by creating special belts. I'm not sure if they're trying to milk these fighters for some sanctioning fees or if it's some sort of publicity stunt.

I've seen some footage of Ngannou training and he is in great shape and he seems really motivated. Even though money was his primary reason for challenging Fury I don't think it's the only reason. He wants to prove that he is taking this seriously and I expect him to have a much better performance than MMA fighters like Ben Askren and Nate Diaz who barely even bothered to train.

Have you guys noticed, that with time, vote poll became more even? If at first, Fury was domination among users selection, now he is leading only with few votes. Why suddenly users opinion changed so much ? Because of 1) they observed current form of Fury 2) the role of Mike Tyson in Ngannou camp became more valuable 3) people noticed something new in Ngannou 4) they just randomly chose the winner Cheesy
Probably the fact of Mike Tyson training himself Ngannou plays its role in favor of him. But to be honest, it makes me sad. Tyson Fury was named Tyson because of legendary Mike and when you see that this idol of you and your father trains a person to beat you, makes me really sad and I think it has its psychological effect on Fury but he doesn't pretend to be affected by it and even says that it motivates him even more.

I read this article about how Ngannou left his former life (which was in poverty while he worked in sand mines in his home country of Cameroon) and migrated illegally across Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Algeria, Morocco, Spain and France in the hope of becoming a professional boxer. The story presented is that the journey took a year and he ended up being helped by Fernand Lopez (in France) who convinced Ngannou of taking up MMA.
Just read the article and before I got anywhere saw this line "Francis Ngannou is the heaviest hitter in the UFC right now " am now thinking to myself is the Gypsy King ready for this one because he better know that Francis hits hard which should scare the sh*t out  of him and must be preparing for that rematch.
How should it scare the shit out of him when Ngannous UFC profile is 17 win | 3 lose and Tyson Fury's boxing profile is 33 win | 1 draw.

Tyson Fury appeared on Caleb Pressley’s YouTube comedy interview show, which was based mostly around how horny Tyson is. If you aren’t familiar with Caleb’s show, it’s very dry humor and ridiculousness. Not sure it’s worth a watch if you’re looking for boxing insight, but if you like comedy and Tyson Fury check it out.

It seems as though you are leaning towards a win for Ngannou. After 40 vote in the poll 21 have gone for Fury to win whereas 19 have gone for Ngannou. I find this quite surprising as I thought most would have had Fury as the overwhelming favourite to win the fight.

52.5% for Fury against 47.5% for Ngannou (21/19) is far too close to call. Many members here believe Fury will suffer his first defeat  Shocked
Numbers dont lie and am among those that believe Francis Ngannou could land the upset because this lad packs a punch and Fury isn't ready for this one!!

But then again,  Tyson Fury having the champion chip to his name, this fight could easily be judged as a draw to keep his unbeaten run going and give Francis the credibility he deserves...win-win for both of them  Cool

W Why suddenly users opinion changed so much ? Because of 1) they observed current form of Fury 2) the role of Mike Tyson in Ngannou camp became more valuable 3) people noticed something new in Ngannou 4) they just randomly chose the winner Cheesy

  • 1. Never looked at it this way but Fury hasnt been active and could be a valid reason.
  • 2. Mike Tyson will influence his boxing style no doubt about this.
  • 3. His a champ in his sport and Fury stands no chance
  • 4. Beginners luck doesn't happen in a game of sport!

Neither mate; 1) Fury's current form is not surprising 2) Mike Tyson's role may help but not significantly 3) There is nothing new in Ngannou, he's just the same fighter 4) Obviously not random.

It's just that users here believe that Ngannou can make a difference in his fight versus Fury but not easily and those who know Ngannou's style are mostly the ones who also voted in favor of him. I mean, sure, this particular sport belongs to Fury because it is his to begin with but Ngannou is a different animal which makes it more interesting compared to the past cross over fights that we had.

Well, it seems you are on to something but as this is boxing and not MMA the scales are tipped in favour of Fury. As always, if that one-off punch connects and catches Fury off-guard then he could go down for a count but if he uses all his skills he should able to win this fight without getting tested too much.

Too many reasons pointing to a Francis win for this fight and the best part is that his the underdog which means more money for any punters.
It cannot be denied Ngannou is motivated beyond anything we would have thought but Fury also stated he will fight anybody anywhere as long he gets paid what he feels he is rightfully demanding. If he got a much bigger share of the purse against Usyk that fight would have gone ahead (according to him) and he is getting a lot of money for this fight therefore it is going ahead.

For Ngannou the motivation is his determination to prove critics wrong and to show the world that someone who grew up in poverty could defeat the current best boxer after he became an illegal migrant through many countries ate waste food from bins along the way. His instincts to survive cannot be overlooked. On the other hand, Fury believes he is unbeatable and is the greatest/best of his era. He used his skills and power to become the best and then went in to depression. He overcame mental health struggles to become the champion again therefore he feels he will win.

It really will be a good fight to watch with the tactical approach they both will bring.

If these fighters were to fight without rules, I'd think Ngannou would end up winning, given his tough past. However, since this is a boxing match, and Fury is the current champion, I would simplify things and stick to comparing their records to determine who is the better boxer. It seems that even bookmakers agree with this, as they have made Ngannou a heavy underdog. So, for bettors who believe Ngannou can pull off an upset, this could be a significant opportunity to bet, as he is a +600 underdog to win.

For those reasons alone, Fury will not find it easy to defeat Ngannou but overall you would expect him to win. It will be the biggest day in the life for Ngannou therefore he will be confident he can win but the smart money is on Fury.

The last time I watched a Mixed martial art fighter try boxing it was very disappointing because both fighters didn't care how it went down because they were getting paid handsomely and really failed to put up a good show imo...

But for this one, I think it will be different because  Francis Ngannou uses his fists mostly to knock out his opponents which will make this match exciting..and him having a Tyson in his corner makes it even more exciting as he will learn new tricks to his arsenal in trying to take down the Gypsy King in his own sport and that power punch will come in handy...

Its been awhile since we had a proper heavy weight fight and this one is a must watch!

Too many factors motivating Ngannou at this point
  • First defeat to Furys name
  • Gets a generous pay cheque
  • lineal heavyweight champion of the world
  • Big name to box
  • proves his MMA critics wrong after dodging the Jon Bones Jones fight
Too many reasons pointing to a Francis win for this fight and the best part is that his the underdog which means more money for any punters.

Mike has to teach Francis how to get closer to find the range, Mike is smart enough to have done this against his opponents. If Francis can't get close, he will never get an opportunity to land a punch.

It doesn't look like they are very much into thrashing. Francis pointing at the bod looks like a good meme. We're going to see a lot of memes after the fight and it wouldn't even matter for Francis if he loses the fight since it's already expected against the pro but it would be a hilarious meme if Fury loses though.

I believe that it is their plan, Ngannou cannot make any difference if he will stay beyond Fury's reach because that will also mean that he will have a hard time reaching the latter. It's much better for them to have a confrontation in the guise of a toe-to-toe fight because they got more chances that way, but it's a challenge though if Ngannou can survive it because his stamina will be a problem as he is not built to be a boxer who can last up to 12 rounds while giving and receiving deadly blows.

In the 5th round, Francis would be a flatliner. He needs the fight to end quickly in less than 5 rounds or he'll be the one on the ground lying. Francis is still slow which would be the kind of worrying if you are to bet on him. I saw his training with Mike on YouTube, he is not as quick still especially with a boxing glove.

If he is to win the fight, I think the strategy is to just body shots at Fury. It's an easier target than the head but he also has to be cautious of the counter. As much as I want Francis to win, its not gonna be a park walk.

I don't really believe those videos because it wouldn't be a surprise if they will show what they will do and what are his improvements as we know that Fury will also take advantage of those video to prepare against Ngannou. A lot can happen but I do agree that Ngannou should find a way to end the fight much earlier he wanted to win because as the fight gets longer, his chance becomes slimmer and slimmer until he can no longer avoid defeat.

We have not seen him fight in boxing. They need to show at least some sparring with Ngannou, they are selling the fight so they might as well show that he could come up with something or at least last up to the 8th round. They wouldn't want the hype will die down as the burden is with him.

The interviews are good where Mike and Francis appear confident that he could beat Fury. A sparring with a real boxer I think would be fun to watch to whether Ngannou is able to maneuver with his footwork.

For what purpose is Tyson getting back into pro boxing? Is he out of money for bird feed?
I don't think they have to have any valid purpose just to return in the limelight, just like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, are they also out of money? Grin

Mike Tyson was just called by Fedor Emelianenko and it doesn't even state or guarantee that they will indeed have a fight because this is not new anyway, there has been talks previously that Mike Tyson will fight Evander Holyfield but that didn't materialize. But if this bout will come into fruition, the organizers are definitely in for a lot of money because the last time Mike Tyson stepped foot in the ring way back 2020, that bout generated 1 million plus PPVs.

What more if we add Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou in the equation. It's just a business mate and if you don't want to watch, you're pretty much welcome not to participate.
I mean if it's just money we're talking about, Tyson can sit comfortably in his bed of cash without ever having to touch the boxing gloves again. My statement was more of satirical really rather than something to take seriously. Given the fact that he had a history with mismanagement of funds and all that which lead him to being bankrupt and indebted way back then.

Anywho, For me this should be a separate event. The Tyson-Ngannou fight is good and all that and they deserve a powerful opener before the main event, but Mike is more than just an opening fighter, he's the main event ever since and even if he's already retired, I don't think we're putting enough respect in his name by giving him just the opening fight slot instead of his own event. But oh well, I heard that the Two Tysons are in great terms and are even good friends, perhaps Mike Tyson's doing this as a favor for his friend. Idk for sure.

Fury has a lot of haters who just want to see him lose. He is very arrogant and often contradicts himself by saying he cares more about legacy than about the money. Even if he is justified in wanting a higher percentage against Joshua and Usyk people will still blame him for those negotiations failing. He is not the people's champion as he likes to portray himself. He obviously cares very much about money and has made it the primary reason for why he is competing in the sport.

If my memory serves me correctly, the poll was like this from the very beginning. People vote for Ngannou not because they really believe in his victory, but simply because they want such an outcome. The fight itself is not much different from a circus, so everyone wants at least some intrigue and even an unexpected defeat from Fury so that they can then see an “interesting” revenge. Imagine if everything goes as we expect: in the first rounds Ngannou tries to be active as much as possible, Fury keeps distance and doesn’t let him do it and then just beats him. And the fight either ends with a technical knockout or a unanimous decision of the judges. As uninteresting as possible.
