I didn't even see Messi in the list for Ballon d'Or. It was really interesting in my opinion. Ronaldo was there but Messi wasn't. But even if Messi was also in that list the winner wasn't going to be him for sure.

Benzema was one of the most hardworking players last season. He was not only a big scorer because he made so many assists and helped his teammates as well. He was definitely a role model for so many players with his incredible performance. I was just not sure between Benzema and Lewandowski to win the prize. They were sitting very close to each other while Zidane was looking at their direction. Lewandowski seemed hopeful about the prize but Benzema got it. He definitely deserved it of course, there is no doubt. I guess that this is a great achievement to adorn his career before retirement.

If we look in the mirror in the previous season like that, Bayern were really extraordinary but it was Villarreal who became the dark horse that destroyed their determination in the Champions League.
Being at the top of the standings in the group stage is actually not too guarantee when you are in the knockout phase because all possibilities can happen in that phase even for a club that is not even seeded like Madrid last season because it is always against a difficult club.

Bayern should have known about it but now they are quite blunt for a target man and I still doubt if they can talk much in the next phases or still as usual by always getting knocked out in the top 8.

It seems that Benzema will perform well this season as well. Among the young players, the performance of none other than Haaland seems satisfactory. If Benzema can continue his performance as consistently as last season and if Real Madrid is able to win the La Liga and Champions League titles again, Benzema may be able to win the Ballon d'Or again. We are not getting satisfactory performances from players like Lelandowski and Messi.

I don't expect controversy on the Ballon d'Or award bestowed on Benzema, the guy truly deserves it. This is unlike the last one that was given to Messi that's plainly underserving by many people including me. Lewandowski missed the chance last year, that's his luck, and Benzema/Real Madrid outshines him and his present club, which is part of the points they would have used in choosing him. Next year is there, the guy as a new transfer to Barca, still has a chance to win the award with his present performance. He should try on the Polish side too as this is the year of the world cup.
