Smart is not enough, there must be skills

I know the group stage stage matches are still around 2 weeks away and the champions league have released the match list. We can see that there will be several big matches on matchday 1, of course these are matches that everyone is really looking forward to. On matchday 1, September 19, immediately presented with two matches from the hell group, bringing together Milan vs Newcastle and PSG vs Dortmund. Meanwhile, from matchday 1 on September 20, there was a big match from group A bringing together Bayern Muchen vs Manchester United. Of course we can't wait to watch this match but we have to be patient first because there will be an international break. Do you have any other favorite matches that are worth looking forward to on matchday 1?
I looked up the odds on this match but it's not out yet, maybe the bookies haven't released it yet because there's still an international break that could possibly change the scheme of things with injured players or other things.

Of course on matchday 1 - the 19th the most interesting matches are the ones from Group F the others I will take for granted but I am looking for the best odds to bet on.

Matchday 1 - the 20th on this date there are some interesting matches not only Bayern vs Man United but other matches that will be more exciting too.

Now we have to postpone our curiosity in UCL matches for a bit because it's still a long time.

Well, this is the champions league and there are no guarantees; there will be upsets and lots of it too! just like Barcelona dropping to europa league last season. In addition; the Arsenal group is also difficult, very difficult as all four teams are underdogs in the group. The Manchester United group with Bayern is also a top tier group; no guarantees at all, all clubs have to earn their rights to the next stages.
Despite the upsets, there are teams that have high chance of qualifying in their group because they are good and can beat all the other teams in the group.
Teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Napoli and lots more have the high chance of qualifying to the round of 16 in the Champions League.
We have long list of seasoned teams which can go through into next round because these are giants in UEFA and their available sources and quality is also at the top which give them good edge for having better chances for going into next round with I have my personal list which teams are going to be had highly chances for the next round are here Barcelona, Porto, Manchester City, RB Leipzig, PSG, AC Milan, Atlético Madrid, Benfica, Inter Milan, PSV, Arsenal and Bayern Munich I am quite sure these will be in with no upsets are going to happen to them but few other teams which are good but with their current form we can expect anything from them.

For the current situation, Sevilla does not have much chance, because the peak of the group must be held by Arsenal, and the second position is held by PSV, and we can see that PSV is seen from the history of their match in a very good performance so it will be quite difficult faced PSV, and the lens team historically at the beginning of this season did not have a good fate and he fell down in the lower line of his domestic league, but it must be noticed that the Lens in the previous season got a good increase and was at the seventh level of the standings, they did not Consistent but able to pray for a short time.

Sevilla are in Group B. And I wouldn't say every team in Group B is strong. As Arsenal are in form, they are pretty sure to top the table in Group B. And the other two teams are PSV and Lens. PSV is a strong enough team. And this team is capable of performing well in the Champions League as well. However, if Sevilla perform well, it is possible to get points against PSV. On the other hand, the Lens team is now off form. They are not playing well in Ligue 1. The overall condition of their team is very weak. So Lens doesn't seem to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds. And so, if Sevilla want to go to the knockout round, they must play well and win against PSV. I think Sevilla will be able to qualify for the knockout round if they win the two matches against PSV. But it will be much more difficult for Sevilla's players.

Arsenal stand a good chance in that group irrespective of how you put it. Let's judge by their domestic league and where they are currently playing, Sevilla hasn't win a single match and even if it's still early, they are in relegation currently zero point and no match has been won. Lens has played 4 matches and has not won any won any, they draw 1 though. Only PSV have a good place in their domestic league. They are currently number two while Arsenal is in number 5, the only difference is that there are many teams with similar points with Arsenal that share the same points with Arsenal but I believe as we progress, everything will be clear and if there is any team I look forward in making it out of the Champions League group B is Arsenal and PSV.

I think that it would be much better for Sevilla to go down to the Europa League rather than continuing in the Champions League.
LOL. You think it's that easy to go down to the Europa League? Sevilla also wants to be in the Champions League even though many doubt it like you, let's just wait until the group stage rolls around.

Sevilla have already started poorly to the season. On paper they got a lucky draw in the Champions League. But considering their effort these days I don't expect them to do better than Arsenal and PSV both. They can just make sure to get as many point as possible from Lens to consolidate the 3rd position.
I know Sevilla this season started badly including in LaLiga with 3x matches lost, it can be widely assumed Sevilla will not qualify we will never know Sevilla's game in the Champions League sometimes it will surprise like in the Europa League last season.

I don't have any big expectation from Sevilla in the Champions League honestly. That's why I think the best thing for Sevilla would be to move on in the Europa League after the group stage. Considering how much successful Sevilla have been in the Europa League they can earn much bigger amount of potential income there at the same time.

Winning the Europa League title would be much better for Sevilla compared to reaching last 16 in the Champions League. This is my prediction about them for this season.

Frankly, I don't have high expectations from Sevilla either. They are not assertive in La Liga, and they joined UCL with their European cup win. If it wasn't for that quota, he wouldn't even be able to join the conference league. If I remember correctly, they finished in 12th place in the season.
Sevilla only used the route through the Europa League to get to the Champions League this season so there is no need to have very high hopes for it and I also think that Sevilla will have a little difficulty qualifying for the group stage this time. Because in Group B, which is occupied by Sevilla, there are two quite strong teams there, namely Arsenal and PSV, so Sevilla needs to work hard to qualify and hope for good luck for themselves.

What do you mean should? It is not a fact that Arsenal will easily get out of the group, and neither will PSV. Sevilla have impeccable European Cup experience, they can finish first or second in the group, second only to Arsenal, because PSV look an average team compared to the Spanish team.

I agree that all teams will not be guaranteed to qualify for the round of 16, but some of them deserve to be favourites. Barcelona, Arsenal, Bayern, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Napoli, Inter, PSG, Milan and Atletico Madrid are some of the favorite teams that I think will qualify. But my assumption remains the same, they all don't get any guarantees and every team has to try their best to achieve it.

No team can be underestimated in the group stage, but the difference in team quality will clearly be the main benchmark for determining who deserves to be the favorite to qualify for the round of 16 this season.
Yes, there is no guarantee of qualifying for the next round, the team's performance can sometimes unexpected. In my opinion, the club you mentioned have potential to qualify. Because they are a big club and have experience in the UCL, there is a possibility they can be consistent to get a lot points and qualify. Especially Manchester City, might be the favorite again this season.
Sometimes most of these big teams you have mention actually flop and before you know it they have been knocked of the group stage and it's not a first timer because we have even seen champions knocked out of the group stage and Chelsea FC is perfect example when they won the uefa champions League and the following season were knocked but I doubt same scenario happening to this Manchester city team.

What’s the hope of PSG in the UCL as it is, I guess none. They were very much a stronger team a year ago down till when Neymar Jnr joined and later Messi. Now, we can only count on Mbappe as the main man with, Ousmane Dembele to support which didn’t do so well in Barcelona, Julian Draxler to support but, if they didn’t make it with Neymar and Messi on the squad, how about now.
Teams that remains surprising to see in the UCL remains Arsenal and Newcastle. Would be a lot of expectations on there hands and some tough competition too to measure up that premier league performance with.
Even this all is too early to talk about anything which is going to happen in next few months, but I have personal feeling about PSG most changes they could be out of the competition after round of 16 but in any case most chances they will be not gone into last four because they need time with this new squad and coach which is essential for the better result even few players are impressive but still this is not right time for them to have any good chance.

I am not sure about any surprise from these English sides as well because we have few better teams which can give us surprises in this level specially I have feeling from Italian sides and Spanish as well with Bayern and Manchester City both are the most favorite teams for the title right now.

On matchday 1, there are 2 match highlights that are definitely interesting for me to look forward to, namely Milan vs Newcastle and PSG vs Dortmund. Meanwhile, on matchday 2 I am interested in watching Madrid vs Union Berlin, Arsenal vs PSV, Bayern Munich vs Manchester United, and Sevilla vs Lens. With quite an entertaining schedule between all the games I'm looking forward to Bayern Munich's debut against Man United. Anyone wants to know the extent of the difference in strength. The reason is that Bayern Munich has Kane as well as a player who has experience against Man United. It's a shame that Tottenham didn't qualify for the UCL because if they did then Kane against Tottenham would definitely be more exciting.
Regarding the Real Madrid vs Union Berlin match, of course this will be quite an exciting match, especially since Real Madrid has never played against Union Berlin before. We know that Union Berlin qualified for the champions league because of their extraordinary performance last season and managed to replace the place usually filled by Leverkusen. Arsenal vs PSV is also no less exciting and the last time these two teams met in the champions league was in 2007 with very even statistics. Meanwhile, Sevilla vs Lens will be a meeting for teams who have slumped this season and are at the bottom of their respective domestic league standings.

Well, it must be admitted that the main headline on matchday 1 was bayern munchen vs manchester united and of course what you said about Kane is true and bayern munchen has a very experienced weapon to destroy the team from where it came from. I think we'll see Kane against his former team happen next season and see Spurs' form now is much more promising than it used to be.

This year only one group its difficult to know, and that its the PSG MILAN, NEWCASTLE, DORTMUND.
Certainly group F is the most exciting, PSG is in the hands of a new coach, hopefully they can get chemistry soon, that's PSG's hope all along to be able to win the UCL league. Milan and Dortmund are two regular UCL clubs who have strong mentality, of course, have experience in dealing with pressure. And Newcastle, after several years of not being in the UCL, can finally feel again competing in Europe's top flight.

I don't think there's anything strange about Sevilla, because basically when Sevilla played in the Champions League. But ya, the reality is that Sevilla only has the status of a Europa League title winner, and not because they managed to finish in the top four. Therefore, I personally will not expect too much about Sevilla in the Champions League, no matter whether later Sevilla will qualify to the round of 16 or not. Because anyway, Sevilla will not have the quality to be able to advance further in the Champion League, moreover at this moment Sevilla is in a bad situation and condition in La Liga. So yes, of course there are no expectations whatsoever about Sevilla, because basically they also have to focus on getting up and recovering first in La Liga.

I'm not a Newcastle fan but I've always loved watching them play since Edi Howe took over. He has a very solid old school style with a very good and dangerous counter attacking player. It would not be surprising if Newcastle were able to qualify from the group phase. I agree, this is the most difficult group to know. But I think it's very good for Newcastle, I want Newcastle to be careful in their game and I think they will play from the back and defend and attack the opponent on the counter-attack, thinking about whether they will win or qualify from this group. gave Newcastle a big boost.

Do you feel something like, in the past years like in the 2000 or 2010 the group phase have some doubt about which team hi gonna pass into the 16 round?, and now its more like we already know the 2 teams who are gonna be in the 16 round, without so much effort?

This year only one group its difficult to know, and that its the PSG MILAN, NEWCASTLE, DORTMUND.

Champions League matches mean a different kind of excitement. In Champions League matches, it is difficult to say which team will win and which team will lose. The Champions League group that Manchester United and Bayern Munich are in is undoubtedly a strong group and the remaining two teams in the group are also capable of causing havoc. Manchester United and Bayern Munich are the current favourites, but whoever performs well on the pitch will decide the outcome of the match. From the group that Bayan Munich and Manchester United are in, I am currently confirming Bayan Munich to play in the next round and I am not sure about the rest of the teams as any of the remaining three teams can do well. Apart from enjoying the matches of different leagues, we are waiting to enjoy the Champions League matches.

When it comes to Sevilla I already think that they will be joining the Europa League after the groups. The thing they do the best is to be very competitive for the Europa League title. They are the king in that place with many championships in the recent 10 years. It is really where they belong considering their level now.

This season didn't start well for them clearly. La Liga is going on terrible for them without a point in 3 matches. I just don't know how they are planning to deal with big threats like Arsenal and PSV in the Champions League. Lens is the only opponent against which they have a much bigger chance to do something good.

Sevilla's level is still far from UCL. Even though this club was able playing in UCL but the result will always be the same. Being able to compete in UCL is already a huge achievement for sevilla. I don't even put a lot of hope for this club.
Sevilla needs more than a miracle to go to the play off stage with the current squad. Although I don't want to be pessimistic about Sevilla's performance, it's necessary to consider the possibility that they might be in a less-than-ideal situation presently and we should take that into account.

I would like to value qualifed for UCL play off is a higher achievement compared with winning europa league. It's caused by sevilla is in financial crisis and the club in the needs of money to solve that.
I mean as long as they end up going back to europa and not be the fourth, that would be fine for them. They always look weak and then somehow they make it work. Last season they beat United, Juventus and Roma all with incredible play, nobody gave them any chance and they either got super lucky or they just did it with some hard work but they managed to get it.

I could say United was pure luck, and I could say Roma was referee issue, but at the end of the day they got it. If they can pull it through and be third at least, they could go back to europa and that would be good for them. They can go further there with some lucky drawing, which would be a good case for them on the long run which can make it happen.

The Sevilla team also played in the Champions league last season.  But their performance in the Champions League was very poor. Even in La liga this team could not play well in the last season. Their only goal was the Europa league title. And finally the team was able to secure the Europa League title. Despite performing well in the Europa League, the team's performance in the La Liga and Champions league was poor. I think we will see the same thing this season. I wouldn't expect much from this team in Champions League or La Liga. Sevilla know very well that they will not have much advantage in the Champions League. Their goal will be the Europa League title this season as well.

As Sevilla have shown terrible performances in their first three matches in La liga, I do not see the possibility of this team playing in the round of 16 of the Champions league.  They played very well in the Europa League last season. But this season their performance is even weaker than last season. They can't win against weak teams. Every team in the Champions League is strong enough. I don't see any possibility of Sevilla. I think Sevilla will try to stabilize their squad. And like the previous season, this season will also compete for the Europa League title. The Sevilla team is very experienced in the Europa League platform. Sevilla have the potential to perform well in the Europa League.
