That scheme where anyone can score goals shows that the team is solid all round one and does not suffer if a player misses a match, there is no key player in such game play although there are the attackers there who in theory should score more goals than other players,I very much like this philosophy of playing football.

As for Haaland I am pretty confident he will be the top scorer in this upcoming season of the Champions League,he is a goal machine and in a team like Manchester City who usually dominates the games it is only natural for him to have more chances scoring goal than when he was playing for Dortmund for example.
Haaland is Manchester City's top scorer in the Champions League with a total of 12 goals from 11 appearances, but there were more than 10 Manchester City players last season who were able to score 1 goal including defenders and midfielders. Julián Álvarez, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva scored at least 3 goals each, but overall Manchester City scored 33 goals last season in the Champions League.

I agree Manchester City are a really dangerous team because their squad has a good ability to score goals and provide assists. They are complete despite their lack of appearances, but overall they are a complete team.

Panathinaikos were a surprising team to have advanced to the final qualification round. I was really surprised to see them eliminating Marseille despite getting behind by 2-0 first in the rematch. It looks like Marseille are still not fully ready with their new manager Marcelino. Sad

But I think this round will be the end of the road for Panathinaikos. I respect their determination and their motivation must be much higher now. However their opponent is going to be Braga which are doing good so far. I think we will see the quality difference especially in the match Braga's home.

What do you think about it? Can Panathinaikos surprise us twice?  Smiley

From what I've seen about Haaland's performances for Manchester City in big games is that he doesn't fare well in big games when he plays in them. The same situation that occurred in the Supa Cup matchup against Sevilla, where Haaland made no attempt to score, also transpired in the champions league last season. Is when Manchester City plays against small teams and during games when De Bruyne is there will you find Haaland performing wonders by scoring beautiful goals.
On Saturday, Manchester City is going to play against Newcastle, let's see whether Haaland would make any attempt to score. As for me, he is going to play well in that match because it is going to be a big game.

You are right, Haaland does not play well in big matches. He probably prefers to play in a pressure free manner. Can't play well under extra pressure. We haven't seen a better performance from Haaland in the semi-finals and finals of the Champions League. However, with De Bruyne, Silva and Gundogon in the squad, despite Haaland's lackluster performance, Manchester City's overall performance was very good last season.

Newcastle's match is very important. There are no big star players in the Newcastle team. But the bonding between the players in this team is the strongest of any team in the Premier League. And so, without De Bruyne and Silva, it cannot be said for sure whether Manchester City's performance will be good in this match. I wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle wins this match.

Regardless of how Haaland performed in the Champions League semi-finals and final last season,I think it would be wise to appreciate his goalscoring record. Haaland played 11 matches last season with Manchester City in the Champions League, and he managed to score 12 goals in 11 matches. Don't you think that's great?

After all, Pep Guardiola doesn't play a game strategy around Haaland so we can see all the players who play are involved in attack. Haaland is a target man, but almost anyone can score goals because Pep Guardiola has that scheme in building attacks instead of relying on one player.

Manchester City's midfield was not strong. This affects their overall performance. Gundagon has left the team. And their midfield's two most important weapons De Bruyne and Silva were not with the squad. Manchester City's midfield is weak without these two players. And because of the weak midfield, we don't see a good performance from Haaland in this match either. Manchester City would have been able to score even if Haaland played well.

It came close to losing but it ended in something like a surprise from Manchstr City when the savior goal was on target.
I think this is also one of the proofs that City still has very good strength to compete in every match in the champions league and it not matter whether the club that will be opposed a strong club that is for sure City coach Pep Guardiola has many ways to win and there is no need there is no doubt that this season City still have great passion for the champions league trophy.
The desire for Manchester City to get back to winning trophies in the Champions League and Premier League is there, but I think the pressure and competition will look a little more different this season. Because we cannot fully assess after seeing the strength of those who won through such surprises for all competitions, moreover what Manchester City is facing is Sevilla, which when we see it in La Liga is often not very good in the standings.

Manchester City has added another trophy to their chest. They were the favorites and they proved their worth. City had a greater hold of the midfield and dominated the game. Ball possession was City 74% and Sevilla 26℅ which shows how City had total control. They created many chances and had about 7 shots on target. Kudos to Palmer for canceling En-Nesyri's goal in the second half. If not for that goal Sevilla would have defended their single goal till the end. The match was not rough or physical and only two yellow cards were issued which went to Servilla players.
Manchester City control the match with high ball possession is normal with them but beating Sevilla in Europe and winning another trophy is good for Manchester City. They are becoming a giant in Europe and can be another successful club like Chelsea after spending so much money in the past twenty years.

This trophy gives Manchester City more confidence in their adventure to protect Champions League trophy and they are aiming at a second club in history can defend Champions League title. So far only Real Madrid successfully defend their titles.

Man City were just lucky to win... The penalty shootout was just luck, not skill... Sevilla played not worse and sometimes even better and more dangerous, especially in the second half when they were able to make some great counterattacks... But as a result, Man City won and there is nothing to say here... They are the holders of the super cup...

Manchester city was not lucky to win the game. Bono has become the savior for sevilla. He has been making so many brilliant saves. It reminds me the match against chelsea which was also ended with the same story as this one.
Gudelj must become the one that shall be blamed as he was running out of his luck. I think that it's not manchester city who gets luck but it's gudelj who was not lucky enough in executing the last chance in the penalty.
So many sevilla fans were crying caused by gudelj has been missing the golden chance to equalize the score of penalty. Poor gudelj.
Great game from both. Sevilla was fully defending against manchester city caused by the club know if it's treble winners club.

The reason of why Manchester City won the game was not because of luck but it was fully because of their better performance than Sevilla, we know in the last season Sevilla had an amazing performance against many strong teams like Manchester United in the last season but the fact about Sevilla is they don't have enough power and strength to race with a team like Manchester City, while I think Manchester City could even win this game in the normal time and before the penalty kicks start.

Manchester City's victory against Sevilla in the super cup final really looked so hard and had no hope when Sevilla scored first. Surely no one would have thought that Sevilla could make things difficult for Manchester City so badly and they could barely do anything for 45 minutes in the first half. But Manchester City still had a winning mentality to win their fourth title in a row last season and they managed to equalize. I think even though this is a worthy title for Manchester City, at least they should be able to optimize everything that is available within 90 minutes and for Sevilla they have been very good at being able to bring Manchester City to the penalty shootout.
I had expected that Manchester City would win it over Sevilla. But Sevilla, who played well in defense, were also able to threaten Manchester City's defense with a counterattack scheme. Manchester City, of course, were very depressed during the match because of Sevilla's defense, but in the end they were able to win this title even though they had to do it on penalties.

There was nothing unusual about Manchester City's performance against Sevilla, but they lacked a midfielder capable of getting Haaland to score. The injury to De Bruyne, as well as to Bernardo Silva, clearly made Haaland lose many hopes of scoring goals because the ball rarely reached him.

I don't like the idea, lets keep the champions league to Europe and Europe only, I personally don't like all this new rules they keep adding to the football that we knew, it's spoiling it and if UEFA does this then they have spoiled football and I'll be in support of the Super league to replace the champions league because they would have taken the prestige of the league by allowing those farmers with their money to come and spoil everything. They'll just bribe the referee with their oil billion and spoil the good game. Also this means they can get younger players as they're participating in champions league which is one of the reasons young players are refusing to go to Saudi because that means they can't play on the big stages (champions league). Thought we have club world cup that they can participate in.

I fully agree with your thinking, UEFA is making too many changes to an historic event, the champions league is and must remain only for European clubs, the Saudis have their own champions, everyone stays where they belong! I also don't like the new format of the champions league very much but I keep the considerations at the end of the 24/25 season to give an opinion. The Superleague has now faded but if it were to regain altitude I would be happy to support it, because UEFA's choices are massacring the world of football

UEFA should decline, they're losing all of them big names to that league and they really want em to be part of the European Champions League?
Saudi Arabians has got nothing to do with Europeans, also they're are just trying to get that league to be number one in all of Asia. They're making good moves but the response to this should be no.

But whatever happens we'll see if it'll result well for Europeans or same for Saudi Arabians.

Having a good team, good defense and strategy will be in result scoring as many goals as possible. Sevilla was able defending from so many attacks that have been coming from manchester city. it's more than enough for sevilla to be appreciated. I really appreciate how bono was making so many briliant saves against manchester city. I thought that if sevilla already lost a lot of goals if its goal keeper was not bono but it's likely he will be moving to another club since al hilal has been approaching him recently.
Even though sevilla was playing fully defensive against man city but i do appriacte any efforts that being made by this club to be as good as manchester city. Sevilla was still in the financial crisis. In order to pay off its debt, it seems that the company is resorting to selling off a significant number of its top performers. That being said if sevilla was not in a good condition right now. Congratulation for manchester city by winning its first trophy for this season. Sevilla already tried so hard in beating manchester city but it's not lucky enough in the last penalty shoot.
Sevilla type of defense was something very good, I do not think that it would be that simple to defend against City that easily and we should be considering the situation as a big plus for them. Sure they ended up losing but that doesn't mean that we are going to end up with a bad result for Sevilla. They made some money from it and I believe that they are going to use that to make some transfers and they are going to end up getting better.

Just being here is already good enough and they are known to win the europa cup already many times and I think it should be reminded that we are talking about a team that is constantly there, and they will definitely grow to be better. I would say they are fourth biggest team in la liga easily.

Sevilla is an experienced team. And they are tricky. Sevilla played badly defensively in this match. If Sevilla did not play defensively, Manchester City would have been able to create a scoring opportunity. However, Sevilla's team performance is excellent I'd say. The bonding between the Sevilla players was very strong. This is why City can't score more than one goal despite many attacks.
I admit that Sevilla is a different team in Europe even though they did poorly in La Liga like last season. Sevilla was good in defense even when Manchester City were building up the attack, that's what I saw during the game. But after all, Manchester City is still a pretty good team at creating chances even though they failed to score more than 1 goal.
In the UEFA Super Cup game, I totally agree that Manchester City are missing a lot of creativity in midfield. Two of their best attacking midfielders are out through injury, but Foden and Palmer aren't too shabby either. It was evident that Foden and Palmer could threaten the Sevilla defense in that game even though Haaland didn't have many good chances.
Sevilla in my opinion performed very well yesterday in their UEFA Super Cup game against their English counterparts Manchester City but were denied by a win in normal time by Cole Palmer's second half goal.
City's performance yesterday was totally unlike them as the team was finding it difficult to create goalscoring chances and that I think is because of the fact that their midfield maestro Kelvin De Bruyne was absent in the game. I used to think that the current Manchester City team was built around Erling Haaland but from what I've seen so far, City is built around De Bruyne and that's why they struggled in his absence since he wasn't their to link the midfield and attack

Haaland's understanding with Manchester City's midfielders is excellent. Haaland has developed excellent chemistry with Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne. And because of the absence of these two players, Haaland can't play well. Haaland was on the field for 120 minutes, but he managed to do only 1 shot. Haaland's presence has not been seen much this season.

If the midfielders are not playing well, it is very difficult for the attacking players to perform well. Guardiola did not have talented players to replace two very important players like Bernardo Silva and Bruyne. Because of this, City's midfield was weak. The effect has been seen in the performance of City's attacking players.

Sevilla Manchester city its a match to NO analize, its a no sense, both teams play the amtch with their heads more thinking about the next game for domestic leagues than in this cup.

Its all fault of the UEFA for putting this amtch on a window between games in the national leagues, this kind of games had to be played before the starts of normal season.
That's right, because the UEFA Super Cup is no less interesting to watch. But I don't know for sure why the Final schedule didn't start before the Domestic League started. It would be better if it was scheduled in between the Pre-season tours, it would keep the likes of Man City and Sevilla from losing focus.

Appreciation for Pep Guardiola who has managed to add a trophy to Man City wardrobe, success that continues. Despite winning on penalties, City showed its quality as a king in Europe.

I think scheduling it during the season or at least shortly after the beginning of the season gives the game a little bit of a touch in terms of more seriousness. When it is a pre-game, it is rather considered like that. But I think ultimately that wouldn't sufficiently account for the importance of the game.I know that some say that the UEFA Super Cup isn't that important, but I think it is still a relatively highly prestigious game between two teams who won something big. It is not the most important title, but it's a great title between two top teams guaranteed given what they have won just two months before that game.

I think the Super Cup is a very important game. UCL champion on one side, UEL champion on the other. Both teams made a very good final. Sevilla endured well and unluckily had to give up on penalties. Manchester City start the season by winning an important trophy. Pep Guardiola once again deserves congratulations for winning the Super Cup.

Lol, that seems to be what I had in mind as well, they bring together two clubs that are champions at different levels. I don't mean to be dismissive, but whether I like it or not I have to say it, that they are champions in different competitions, and from there we already see who will be superior.
It's no wonder that both clubs are thinking more about their next game in the domestic league than this match. But they're meant to be entertaining, and can it be called a friendly under the guise of a cup tie? Lol

Both Sevilla and Manchester City were voted team of the season and both teams played in the final. Although Sibilla put up enough of a fight to win today's match against Manchester City. Manchester City were under a lot of pressure when Sevilla scored a goal early in the first half as Sevilla led by 1 goal in the first half which ensured they would go through. But the game changed in the second half and Manchester City counter-attacked enough to level the game at 1-1. When the match between the two teams is in a draw, the two teams are fighting hard till the last moment but neither team can finally win and the match goes to penalties. When the two teams went to penalties everyone managed to score but a Sevilla player missed a goal which cost them the match and Manchester City became champions. Manchester City won the trophy as uefa super cup champions and Sevilla unfortunately lost the match 5-4.

Disappointed result for Ligue 1 teams Marseille have been eliminated on third qualifying round of UEFA Champion League after losing aggregate 5-3 from Panathinaikos trough penalty kick. For next season in Champion League, Ligue 1 have two participants with PSG as the winner of domestic league and Lens success finished on 2nd standings place last season.

Marseille success comeback on second leg after winning 2-1 but not lucky trough penalty kick and they have loss 5-3 from Panathinaikos, for next season Marseille have to play in Europe League. One step closer for Panathinaikos will play in Champion League next season, will face Brage on UEFA Champion League play off and match format home and away. Have been long time for Panathinaikos not participant in Champion League and this time looks almost success after success lead until last stage of qualifying round.
