Insane game! Inter had all the trump cards. Won 1-0 in the first leg and led 1-0 in the second leg and were clearly the more dominant team in the first half. But Atletico never gave up fighting and deservedly scored two goals and forced extra time. Thuram would have had to be thrown off the pitch after an incorrect behavoiur that was clearly overlooked. In the end, Atletico had the better nerve in the penalty shootout. Chapeau Simeone!
The penalty shootout comes with alot of tensions and suspense, the players that failed to put the ball at the back of the nets are quite surprisingly on Inter Milan side, with the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Sanchez, these are key players for the club but they're the ones that sends Inter back home. Perhaps it's penalty shootout and anyone could missed out. This was clearly not the Nerazzurri night in Estadio Civitas because they portrayed their very best performance but the best team will always go top and the lesser one faces elimination from the table. Diego Simeone is really happy with his team as they make advanced to the semi finals.

And Inter its out.
Good for Altleco in a very bad season.

a very tight match between atetico madrid vs inter milan which ended in a penalty shootout. if the goal away still applies, inter milan should qualify and there is no need for a penalty shootout.

Dortmund is not the favourite but they surprisingly can able to advances to the quarterfinal and i think Dortmund has been done effective transfer with loan Jadon Sancho from Manchester United because in the last several matches he can performing well and bringing Dortmund to gets the winning result even so with today that Sancho performance is very impressive
Sancho has really taken on a comfortable role in his new side because he has been more impressive in this team than he was while he was playing at Manchester United. I am not sure he misses Manchester United but I'm pretty sure that Manchester United miss him. It is a good thing that they have qualified to the next round of the Champions League they have a good chance along with other teams to make it to the finals and maybe win. Dortmund through, Atletico through as well to the next round, congratulations to them both.

Results like this are why the Champions League is exactly what it is. You have to beat the best to be the best, there's no way around it.
Inter is among one of the most in-form teams in Europe at the moment, while Atletico Madrid is not in very good form currently, they're inconsistent, but here they are among the last eight teams after knocking out Inter.

Since the draws were made, I kept saying that the Inter Vs Atletico tie was a 50/50 game despite the form Inter was in. People underrate Spanish teams a lot.
Inter have only themselves to blame. They could have buried the game in the first leg. They could have at least scored one more goal, but they didn't. Atletico on the other hand are beast at home. It is what it is. It's getting more interesting and more difficult. Only elite teams remain at this stage.

It was a sad day for Napoli and the club's fans. They conceived two goals in less than three minutes and these goals affected the morale of the Italian side. In the second half Napoli came out very strong and created few chances but Barca did a good defending job. Both teams deserved to win but Barca was just the lucky side. Napoli might start losing some of its key players because they might want to move to clubs that will play in European competitions.  Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and others might be on their way out of Napoli.

Napoli was badly affected by Spanish teams this season  Sad
They were in the same group as Real Madrid, and lost the two games they played against the Spanish team, finishing in second place...
then
...failing to finish in first place, they had to face Barcelona in the round of 16.

It was unlucky to fall into the same group as Real and be drawn against Barcelona
All in all, the team isn't at the same level as last year, when they were Italian champions with 90 points, and today they're in 7th place

Some players may be discouraged if there is any interest from bigger, more traditional teams in the UCL, I have to agree with you

This time was wrong because I thought Barcelona was going to lose it and even until the last minute I was hoping to see a miracle from Napoli to make Barcelona lose the game because I thought Barcelona was not in a good enough situation to beat any other teams. Even they are about to lose their coach Xavi. Still, they were very lucky to play the game against a team like Napoli because any team other than Napoli could easily beat Barcelona in this match, and now even after this match, they saw from Barcelona. The game they won, I think Barcelona can't get anything in the Champions League because of the performance they have.

If this goes into penalties, I expect ATM to win the tie. They have Oblak and some OG penalty takers. For a team that conquered Seria A this season, I'm very disappointed with Inter's performance tonight tbh.
What has happened has happened, I was surprised that Inter was eliminated by Atletico Madrid.

Inter Milan have the opportunity to defend the game at the end of the 90minutes, but they couldn’t withstand the pressure from the home team, Depay gave them the chance to smell the knockout stage at the end. They all tried their best in the extra time, but no goal was recorded and the match lead to a penalty.

Congratulations to Diago Semione and the entire Atletico Madrid squad, it is indeed a well deserved victory just like Arsenal did yesterday.

Inter's only job was to defend that last 3 minutes and not even attack. A good Mourinho team will defend those athletico Madrid attacks and even frustrate them but Inter couldn't do it. Prior to that goal, ATM hit the Woodward with a powerful strike. Well, it's a wrap now. Too bad for Inter.

Except ATM doesn't score, I expect the game to proceed to penalties. Inter had just one job; Only one Job — to defend the last 3 minutes of regular time (extra time neglected) since they knew that nothing was going to come for them upfront. If this goes into penalties, I expect ATM to win the tie. They have Oblak and some OG penalty takers. For a team that conquered Seria A this season, I'm very disappointed with Inter's performance tonight tbh.

That's one thing I like this Athletico Madrid side for, they have a very high spirit when it comes to performing when the need comes for and they have proven that once again as they played very well and also took the game to extra time seeing to it that they seal off their qualifications although when it comes to penalty every victory is actually accredited to the team being lucky as penalty are strictly on how lucky you are.

Immediately I saw the game go into the second half of the extra time, I knew Inter was done for. Luck is involved, yes but this ATM team has OG penalty takers amd Oblak is a tough keeper to go against from the spot. Some credit to the home fans too, they cheered their team to victory much like Arsenal fans did yesterday against Porto  Smiley

Honestly I didn't think Inter could lose this game, they had even gone ahead and everything was pointing to a passage to the round, but that's ok, it means that this year their goal is just to win the Scudetto. As an Inter fan I am obviously sorry for this defeat, but honour to the winners who deserved more this passage of the round. Unfortunately for Italy there will be no more team to bring further points to the UEFA ranking

Atletico Madrid managed to defeat Inter on penalties at home. The normal time of the match was completed 2-1 and the match went to extra time. When the score did not change in extra time, it went to penalties. In the penalties, we saw that so many players missed penalties with stress.Atletico Madrid managed to pass the round by converting 1 penalty into an extra goal.
In the other match of the day, Dortmund, who drew 1-1 away, managed to pass the round by defeating PSV 2-0 at home.Dortmund, who scored in the first minutes, scored the other goal in the last minute. We can say that the match was stressful for both teams and both teams fought until the end.

What a shame. I thought Inter was in a very good spot to win the CL, they were among my favourites. They are almost sure to win Serie-A with 16 points advantage over 2nd Milan and only 1 loss in the league, so they could focus entirely on the CL. But Atletico decided not to go down easy and it paid off. Well done to them, but I don't give them much chance of getting to the final.

The quarter-final, semi-final and final draws will take place this Friday. Whatever happens, there won't be any boring games.

Congratulations to ATM on surviving the round of 16 with a brilliant finishing thanks to their goal keeper, it's good to see the three biggest team in La Liga progress to the round of 8 hopefully one or two of the Spanish team will progress to the semi finals.

For team Inter Milan, they should hold on to the league they have got already and they again next season it's been a good fight but at the end we can only have one winner.

That Depay goal kind of reminded me of the Ramos days when he was at Real Madrid after Athletico was denied the golden ticket when he got a late equaliser to force the match to go into overtime, and I guess the team was told not to giveup after that lesson and they went all the way and I myself wrote these guys off as I thought Inter Milan would be too good for the Spanish side putting into consideration the experience the have, and the lack of form... otherwise congratulations to you LADS!!!

Looking at the teams progressing, what are the possibilities of having an all Spanish final

First half of the Athletico Madrid v Inter knockout game just ended in a tie. Inter looking very weak at the point and I don't see them scoring in the second half of the extra time. Inter is out of the league, as Oblak was able to block two penalties, and Martinez played his over the bar. A great victory for Atletico Madrid as they move to the quarter finals stage of the Champions League.

It is quite a tough match for both clubs, and they both performed perfectly. Penalty is a game of luck, and it happens that Atletico Madrid was lucky, and was able to win with 4-2 in the penalty shootout. I don't know why is it that yesterday and today's match ended up with a penalty shootout, and the home side won it in both games.

Their negligence for not been able to hold the Atletico Madrid team has caused them a defeat back home now. They can now go back and focus fully on their Serie A title race, it would be more worse if they miss out on winning the title their as well. Inter Milan’s game against Atletico Madrid tonight wasn’t that bad, but we everyone would have expected more from a team that is taking the lead in the Serie A and no team have been able to defeat and overthrow them from that position. Last year, they went farther than this in the champions league. There performance in this year’s champions league isn’t impressive at all, or maybe they’ve diversified their focus since they felt they can win the Serie A title too this year. It is really a bad luck day for them, I hope they get over it soon and focus on their fight for the Scudetto now.

I thought it's going to be an easy one for Inter, but I was very wrong.
We have 104th minute of the game and there's a big chance we're about to see another penalty shootout. If that happens, Atletico should have psychological advantage of playing at home + mental boost for scoring that goal just before the final whistle.
Judging by the statistics (I haven't been watching the game) Atletico was far more offensive, with 20 shots on goal (8 on target) Vs Inter's 11(5).
Not much left to go...

It was a fair fight in this match, Atletico defeated them in the penalty and Inter has been eliminated in the knockout stage after a 5 for Atletico Madrid and 5 for 4 for Inter. I didn't expect less from Atletico because tte are such a great team even in their domestic league even though Inter is ahead of everyone in the Seria A, they can't humiliate Atletico and expect to win them in Estadio but Inter didn't rest for a minute, they put a good fight in this match, they have the most ball possession but Atletico had more of good defending and average pressure on the attack in second half.

My problem with the team coming out of the knockout stage now is how they are going to continue after this stage. How is Atletico Madrid win Dortmund in their next match, it's going to be a heavy match that will be hard to predict, and the next is how Real Madrid are going to win the Manchester City, we also have Barcelona and Bayern and then Arsenal with Paris, these games are going to be superb.

And now there are two matches left for the second leg of the round of 16. Namely the Dortmund vs PSV match and the Atletico Madrid vs Inter Milan match. I have favorites for these two matches, namely Inter Milan and PSV. I actually want to favor the home teams like Atletico Madrid and Dortmund. But I see that these two teams are less consistent in their respective domestic leagues. Meanwhile, PSV is extraordinary in their domestic league because they are unbeaten in the Eredivisie.
The 4 remaining teams still has equal chance to take the last 2 spots for the next stage. Although Inter won the first leg but I think Atletico will play their best in the 2nd leg. On the other match, Dortmund vs PSV is also a 50:50 game because the first leg ended with 1-1. If you take Inter and PSV will go to the next stage, I'll take the opposite Smiley. Since Dortmund and Atletico will play their own stadium in front of their fans, so I think they have more advantage in the 2nd leg. Of course it is just a prediction, these 2 matches are hard to predict because of the equal chance.

This time I'm completely correct Smiley Dortmund won the game with 2-0 in normal time while Atletico won the game as well in normal time but they go through the next stage by penalty shootout. Sometime teams which are great in the domestic league cant be as great as in bigger league like UCL. Atletico were great today, they showed that they never give up, they should thank to Oblak as he made 2 saves in the penalty shootout. Too bad for Martinez, he is a player who should be the best penalty taker for Inter but he did the worst today. With this result, there is no Italian team left in UCL which is not a good news for the whole Italian football.

Damn! Depay gave them the chance to go for a shootout but Oblak is definitely the Hero of the night for Atletico Madrid. This is a great night for their fans.
Tough loss to Inter but they brought it upon themselves for being the "passive" team in this encounter.

What a thrilling end to the round of 16 and looking forward to the draw.
These sentences are very easy to say, but in my opinion it is very important that you always write down these motivational sentences and then read them and absorb them. For young people, apart from education and seeking experience, they must also understand how to adapt to the environment according to their passion. By being able to manage himself, it will be easy for him to think long term at work. When his instincts start to sharpen, he will do positive things, including saving and even daring to invest. So there's no harm in anyone always giving motivational sentences so that young people can be independent.

Atletico Madrid Won

What a tense match.
Huff,
It's a penalty shootout

Atletico Madrid really struggled awesomely. Really didn't imagine Atletico Madrid would be that tough, dominating the match, and giving tense pressure to Inter.

Here is the penalty shootout:

How great.
It's shocking. I thought Inter will win the match. But, time to say good bye to Inter. Still unbelievable.
Great job Atletico Madrid. How... wow...

La Liga sent 3 clubs. wow.
