Smart is not enough, there must be skills
Last night showed the difference between a top GK & a crap one.

In fact, liverpool's GK in a few minutes destroys all the good work the team did during the game. if i were a liverpool coach i wouldn’t put him to play in very important games like this because he would do shit again. so far I can't believe liverpool lost, I would have accepted if liverpool had lost in an acceptable way, but the way liverpool lost was very sad and very regrettable. But anyway congratulations to the Atletico who won, although I doubt that they will find stupid GK like liverpool in the next games. so it is better that they prepare very well

I also saw the Liverpool match look upset after GK made a fatal mistake and it made the athletic players excited again, I didn't even think GK liverpool did something that stupid if he was unprofessional or was he really being?

If GK Liverpoll doesn't make a mistake maybe Liverpool have already won and qualified for the next round but all of this starts with GK's mistakes.

You are not the one who is upset, I also need to throw away the GK and do not need to be the main GK anymore.

Last night showed the difference between a top GK & a crap one. Oblak was the only real reason Atletico didn’t lose by 4 or 5 goals in 90 mins. Liverpool played really well but you can’t have a GK making terrible mistakes & do well in the CL. Alisson would never have done something like this.

To be fair, I do not see much goalkeeping error because the Liverpool keeper was duly exposed.
For both 3 goals, Van dijk on two occasions and Henderson for the first Goal had the opportunity to chase down morata
But instead they backed down with van dijk pointing hands instead of doing a proper tackle.

Allison perhaps couldn't have done better.
Proper positioning from Llorente and Morata
With Llorente positioning the ball in the bottom corner accurately

he did his job well, although I think Liverpool were unlucky, there were situations where the ball just hit the goalpost

@DroomieChikito  I knew about the whole letter thing with the kid, but i didn't know Klopp actually replied LOL  Grin

Further I’m not sure why people are not giving credit to Atletico as they put in one of the best defensive performance against Liverpool, and in my personal opinion they deserved to progress to the next round.
People did the same thing in the CL final versus Real Madrid. Nothing but excuses like "the keeper did this, the keeper did that"...I'm starting to see a pattern here, either people don't like teams from Madrid, Spain, or people are salty...

Can anyone confirm this news from the Croatian online portal Index: '' The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that UEFA would soon announce officially that the Champions League and Europa League will be interrupts until further notice due to coronavirus! ''?
UEFA scheduled a meeting: https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediareleases/newsid=2640887.html

My prediction: suspension of Champions League and Europa League until further notice. Euro 2020 postponed. Remember that the Euro will be hosted in 12 countries  Roll Eyes

Farewell o_e_l_e_o
Told you yesterday was the last day of CL

It is only a matter of time when all sport events in the Europe have to be postponed for a while due to the pandemic of Covid-19. It is a magic to keep all clubs' staffs and players are isolated from the corona virus. It is unrealistic so the best choice has to be made. Postpone all leagues till next one or two months. I guess soon we will see all nations have that order.

Liverpool lost the half season in this match.
They would have do a better rotation in the Premier League and have more fresh first line up in the Champions League games. I think that Liverpool lost due to fatigue in this game - they couldn't keep the score in their favor.

Naida, yet another nonsense post from you, what are you talking about, losing half season? Didn't even reply to yesterday's comment about your other nonsensical post:P

And you obviously didn't watch the game, Liverpool were the fitter team, they just couldn't finish their chances, and Adrian let them back into the game because of a huge blunder.

It's an amazing irony that Liverpool played perhaps the best match of the season, that Liverpool completely outplayed Atletico but in the end they lost anyway.
In the English Championship, Liverpool often win because of a good game, but they are often lucky and wins games where they have not outplayed their opponent.
They just didn't get lucky in this game and missed a lot of good chances but also Oblak was great and he saved Atletico.
Salah, Mane and Firmino were all very bad at attacking and they also had a lot of mistakes when passing the ball.
Chamberlain, on the other hand, proved to be a better choice than Fabinho but that wasn't enough.

I am really shocked at how Liverpool let their qualification slip away yesterday in such a childish behavior. When they scored the second goal I thought they would be calm and manage the game but they were not calm at all.I lost my ticket as I played a double with both Paris and Liverpool to qualify which the odds were really big in Sportsbet and now I understand why.Bookies saw not an easy qualification for Liverpool.Such a shameful performance from them in the extra time.
Klopp needed to be blamed, I was expecting him to put a defender after scorring the second goal,  I'm pretty sure that is what Simeone would have done if he was in such shoe, just like they defended 1 goal in the first leg after scorring within the first 4 minutes. Sallah should have been substituted, he keeps loosing possession and being dispossessed often.

The ability for Liverpool not being able to score an away goal cost them a lot, and the absence of Alisson at the goal post shows how important he is to the team,  Adrian should have done more better,  poor clearance leading to the first goal, Allison would have probably saved the second goal scored by Llorente, Oblak was absolutely amazing,  Atletico are lucky to have such a great keeper,  he really helped them in moving up to the next round with some crazy saves

In my opinion I think they (Liverpool) were even lucky to get some hope in the match. We all know Atl. Madrid are defensively capable of stopping Liverpool from scoring irrespective of where the match is been played. The first leg saw them (Atl. Madrid) played over 80 minutes+ defending Liverpool's attack.

The home advantage was the force behind Liverpool's hope to fight back but luck wasn't just on their side. The extra time also contributed.

Magic letter from Manchester United fans made bad statistics for Liverpool, in the last 6 games, Liverpool only has Win 2 and lose 4!. [included, versus Atletico Madrid)
On his letter, Daragh Curley wrote: [1]
Quote
"So the next time Liverpool play, please make them lose. You should just let the other team score. I hope I have convinced you to not win the league or any other match ever again."
and Jurgen Klopp answer:
Quote
"Luckily for you, we have lost games in the past and we will lose games in the future because that is football"

I think Liverpool will get the victory and can qualify for the next phase. But this was truly unexpected, as it was too fast the defending champion left the UCL stage. I even pondered for a while when the whistle sounded, why they didn't escape. And in the end that's the final result that happened. At least liverpool can lift the trophy in the domestic league.

2 goals in 15 minutes against Atleti surely ain't happening here tonight.
8 some minutes to go now.

Can you count all of them in this frame?
Atl really needs to spend this 8 minutes just shooting the ball towards the opposite direction. They do not deserve the win man!
It is not a fair result for Liverpool but A.Madrid deserved that final win and a slot in quarter final round. It is a big clash and personal mistakes decided the final results. If Adrian have not made that terrible mistakes (that caused the first goal for A.Madrid), Liverpool would have won that match, maybe bigger than 2-0.

It is life, and Liverpool has to accept it and come back next year.

In the other clash, PSG went next to the quarter final round with the excellent performance from Neymar. Finally, the club have gotten good fruits from Neymar, after so many drama around him.

I ended up backing PSG like I said earlier, plus i skipped the BTTS on the other game and went with corners...Winner, winner  Smiley

But man, the best team in the world in the last 2 years is out of the Champions League in the Round of 16!  Shocked Shocked  Both finalists of the last CL are out!
Btw, what were the odds for Atletico to Qualify? Does anyone know?

Yeah last year CL, PL teams dominated over most of the teams but this year it is starting rough with shocking exists of finalists. We still have Chelsea and Madrid. Don't have hopes high for Chelsea as they have to cover up a lot at Bayern's home.

City can do it as they have the lead and have the home advantage in next one. I really want them to advance. City winning CL and Liverpool winning PL   Roll Eyes

I wasn't able to check the odds to qualify at the beginning but at the starting of overtime it was 2.3-2.5x around for Atletico. Adrian really did horrible mistakes yesterday. This reminds me of Karius in CL 17-18 season.

They do not deserve the win man!

I think that'd would be unfair to them, really.
<...>
Gotta agree with @Harko on this one. Atletico deserved to go through.

I can totally understand why football fans (especially Liverpool fans) are upset about Atletico going through, I mean, they don't do much other than defend and defend (I see them every week in La Liga and it's the same bullshit lol), but credit where it's due, today the spaniards defended that siege with sweat and blood, they where effective in front of goal and made no mistakes throughout the whole game, 100% focused.
Liverpool, on the other hand, wasted countless of chances (well, not exactly "wasted", Atletico have one of the best GK's in the world, Oblak, who was easily the MVP of the match), and had a couple of brainfarts on the defence which ended up being crucial.
The best team tonight didn't qualify to the next stage, but surely the most hard-working and effective one did.

Btw, Liverpool with Henderson on the pitch is a whole different team, holy crap, this was Liverpool's best performance in a long time.

@tomahawk9 first of all congratulations on winning your bet, and secondly how I wish I too had followed my heart and placed a bet on Atletico Madrid to win their match against Liverpool. Further I’m not sure why people are not giving credit to Atletico as they put in one of the best defensive performance against Liverpool, and in my personal opinion they deserved to progress to the next round.
