PROBABLY, the best thing to do to me was to delay everything to September, restart the season and end it on December,
Then, 2 months break and 2 seasons starting in January and have a good schedule for the internal Mondial of 2020.

It is a risky strategy cause we don't really know if in September the situation will be better or worse than now.

That sounds good enough. They need to make sure everything under control by checking how the big leagues will be resumed shortly. Since the tournament makes the players to fly around Europe, the risk is so much higher than other competitions. Too bad my friend and I had few good winning in our latest bets especially on Liverpool vs Atleti one and this virus came to stop the fun. Damn it. But still, players safety is still our main concern. Better safe than sorry.

@coinlocket$ indeed this match is set to take place on August 8th, unless the health department authorities decides to revoke their permission for it. Further Lyon won’t be at any disadvantage as their permission was sought before fixing the date for this fixture, and hence they can start preparing well in advance, and keep their players fit for this match. Also let me remind you’ll that Lyon is leading between the two sides, and they'll cause a massive upset if they manage to beat Juventus and proceed ahead in the tournament.

Then it means the matches for next season would be delayed as well? It would take around 2 months to continue the tournament until final game, so perhaps the finale will be held in the middle of October. Since the Euro Cup is delayed to 2021, I think there is no UCL tournament next season and UEFA would be more focused to prepare Euro.

According to RMC spots Juventus-Lyon will be played in Turin on 08-08-2020.

Juventus can maybe play the rest of the serieA and they will be trained but what about Lyon where the LigueA is deleted and they will probably not training for another 2 months?

It’s not ideal for Lyon but they’re not going to refuse to play are they. The CL is the trophy everybody wants to win, they’ll just have to try & be in the best possible shape.

@tomahawk9, did you really had to bring me these bad memories... For me it was probably worst night as fan of Barca, I couldn't remember worse lose. And I still can't believe that this games wasn't enough to sack Valverde Cheesy

French teams won't have official games, but I think they will be allowed to return training soon. And maybe they even will be allowed to play some friendly games, probably in other country with less restrictions. But yeah, no official league games for French teams is big disadvantage against their opponents.

Would be more interesting to bet on, if the match will happen or not on that date. I personally still doubt it, but who knows never say never.  Roll Eyes

tomahawk, that game was one of the best CL games I’ve ever seen, I didn’t think they would even have a small chance after losing 3-0 in Camp Nou.

It most certainly was the greatest 2 legged comeback in CL history.
Liverpool is one of the strongest clubs in Champions League history and they also own two of the most impressive comeback in the Champions League too. The final match in Istanbul against AC Milan and the latest come back against Barcelona. Such comebacks are crazy and unbelievable.

Lots of Love to the Pep Guardiola and for his family, It's really a pathetic situation for him because he lost his mother due to Corona contraction, in recent time, Pep Guardiola donated more than a million euro for the fight against Corona, not only that recently he urged his fans staying at home through a video call, whatever the football philosophy, I like his activities for the humanity, There is no word for this mourning moment, It's true that Life is not always fair, And this Covic19 has taken a lot of valuable lives around the world, Who knows when it will be minimized...

I didn't know that Pep lost his mother due to COVID-19.
This incident should make him feel more in danger when the games are going to start.
I wonder what it is going to happen when teams are going to flight from another country in order to play CL games. Shouldn't they be in quarantine for 14 days as this is now the rule when someone comes from another country?

Bad news for Spain. Two legends of Real Madrid passed away, include their ex-President Lorenzo Sans. Now a bar news from Pep's family.

Life is never fair with us so in the awful period of the world, please stay safe and take care of your loved ones as well as your neighbors by seriously obey social distancing, personal hygiene and don't breaks temporary recommendations and orders of governments.

Yup,,, that is the biggest sign for me that UEFA wants all the domestic leagues in europe to find a way to finish on their own. Probably with a quarantined game behind closed doors and only broadcast so the whole world watches on TV. It will be so weird to watch but it was already done before many times and this is an emergency so let us consider all options.
Every league in Europe I think has decided its decision, we just have to wait for the announcement to come in the future, but if this match will continue then I think we only watch football without spectators, it is normal at this time because everyone already knows the emergency. this time and I hope next month the league can continue.

So UEFA has also taken wise actions for the champions league so it is likely to continue despite emergencies too and most importantly they must lift the trophy this season.
But it seems like their title would not be so lively if there were no fans.

@LTU_btc this is a bold move by UEFA which signals that they’ll complete this season at any cost, and I’m hoping that they’ll come up with a bullet proof plan to make this decision a successful decision. Also we need to consider a hypothetical scenario if this season resumes again and Manchester City goes on to win it, will they be allowed to play in CL next year or they won’t be allowed as they’re yet banned from playing in Champions League next season.

I think UEFA 100% plan to ban Man City from the CL for 2 seasons but if they were to win it this season then I think the ban would probably be delayed until the season after. I think any champion should be entitled to defend their trophy.

UEFA suspended all competitions including Champions and Europa league indefintely:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/soccer/uefa-champions-league/story/4081328/uefa-suspends-champions-league-europa-league-and-euro-2020-qualifying-playoffs-indefinitely%3fplatform=amp

Unfortunately modern football is no longer intended for everyone but only to those that can afford to pay for it. If you consider all the different limitations they put on hardcore fans, ultras, or whatever you want to call them, that is exactly what they are doing. Get rid of the fans behind the goals, they pay too little and create trouble. No drums, no megaphones, limitations on banners and symbols... Create a theater-like atmosphere that rick families will enjoy, and they will come to the games, buy their expensive foods and drinks, visit the museums, and buy an expensive shirt.
That's modern football and it's all about the money. With all your mentioned restrictions by UEFA, soon atmosphere will be like in NBA. Or should I say there will be no atmosphere.
These ultras sometimes cause problems, but without them stadiums would be silent. I always love to see massive choreos with huge banners and pyro shows.

I don't agree, like ampere, that passion is gone away, but it is a different kind of passion. It's screaming girls with cheeks painted and boys begging players to throw them a shirt. I enjoyed -- LOVED -- the electricity of a bit of naughty skullduggery and degenerate football love in my day, but it's an atmosphere I could never safely take my kids to, so if I have to choose between cute girls and choreographed staidum waves with blinking LED bands... versus more primal atmospheres... Is it worse than having piss and beer thrown at you and then descending into helmet fights with other fans? Maybe not.

We've paid the price for hooliganism. There is no space in that anymore, let's face it, and gladly.

Roy Keane (it was him right?) was right about prawn sandwiches all those years ago, football is gentrified, but I still believe in the game and I still like the fact that you have guys like Mane and Firmino who come up literally from the streets, Robbo who was a parking attendant not so long ago, and hey, even me who never imagined I would ever get the chance to watch Liverpool, let alone in a cup final!

I do agree that people have the right to peaceful protest though, and if UEFA feels that peaceful banners asking honest questions are wrong, then I say f*ck the prawn sandwich brigade!
