Especially because Chelsea have been experiencing a bad period these days, I don't expect them to surprise us once more. I accept that they were really good at especially defending much bigger opponents. In the final round, they were really good at it against Manchester City. But this time, I really expect that PSG or Manchester City will be reaching the title finally. They both are deserving it and we will see which one of them makes it.
I've decided not to rate the champions league clubs based on their respective league forms for a variety of reasons. I believe the champions league has its own spirit, as evidenced by the fact that some clubs only perform well in the competition. Last season, Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Champions League and Super Cup.

If you look at the caliber of players and the depth of their squads, PSG, Manchester City, and Bayern are always the favorites, but football is played on the field, not on paper.

I should admit that it is also a good point of view. The Chelsea example is a really good one indeed. They didn't do the expected thing from them in the Premier League. But they were fully focused on the Champions League and this led them to the title in this tournament. So we should really not be so sure about it. But Chelsea really don't seem like they can make it to the title this time. But it looks like it's the best to wait for the next stage to start and observe their performance. Then, I can have a clearer opinion.

City doesn't have the mentality to win in the champions league, as evidenced by the transfer of jor2an they have not been able to win the champions league at all even almost 4 years under Pep City's care always failed in the champions league. Maybe it's the Premier League, there is a possibility that City can win, but it's not the case with the Champions League because it's quite impossible for City. I sure this years is not moment for City can success and get trophy in champion league.
They don't have good record in history of Champions League but do you remember what is history of Barcelona in Champions League before the generation of Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Busquet, Pique, etc.? They did not have good history, did they?

Everything must be built and mentality you said can be built up with time. If Manchester City win their first Champions League, they can win another one. Just like Chelsea after 20 years they have 2 trophies in Champions League. Do you say Chelsea have better mentality to win Champions League than Manchester City?

How can you be sure that City will not win the Champions League? Where their performance in the Champions League is impressive. They finished the first round from the top of Group A. They will play against Sporting in the round of 16. Relatively weak opponent. I think Manchester will win easily in this round too. Manchester City players are playing well. Pep's strategy has improved. Isn't Manchester City a worthy candidate to win the City Champions League?
They are moving more closely to trophy of Champions League. In the last season, they mostly won against Chelsea in all clashes but failed in Champions League finale when Pep made strange decisions for this squad choosing. Chelsea fighted well enough to take advantage of sudden changes from Pep and took the trophy.

Problems of Manchester City are similar to PSG. They are strong enough and need a little more luck to win it. Sooner or later they will win and get Champions League trophy.

I'm not sure where Pep will go next if Pep chooses to continue his career later, but considering the contract that is still available for Manchester City and also the big target to win the UCL title it looks like this season will be a season with good momentum for Manchester City too. Being the leader of the EPL standings and getting an opponent that can be said to be easy in this knockout phase, of course Manchester City will easily get through this knockout phase by conditioning their players to stay in good shape.

Manchester City now have a chance to win both the Premier League and Champions League titles. We have seen Manchester City's dominance in both the Champions and Premier League. Their tactics are excellent, with the help of Pep Guardiola the Manchester City players have been able to organize themselves very well. City players are less likely to lose their form this season if they do not suffer too many injuries.

I second you on this one! Manchester city are just in a world of their own under Peps reign and if this is true that he will only retire after a champions league trophy then he has to meet a team like Bayern Munich in the semis to leave them with a much weaker opponent otherwise this is a tougher campaign than the last which the missed out when they made it to the finals.

Pep Guardiola is too young to retire. If you say that he will only leave Man City after he manages to win a Champions League, I believe. If he continues with his good performances, he has everything to stay at the club until the big victory in the Champions League.
Yes, Pep is too young to retire and if I'm not mistaken Pep's own contract with Manchester City will expire at the end of the 2023 season. That way, I personally believe that Pep will still be the coach of Manchester City during that period of time and will not decide to retire. I personally don't believe Pep will leave or retire after giving Manchester City the UCL title, at least there will always be offers from other clubs who want his services and this is not the exact time for Pep to retire.

In any case, Pep has one goal with this team and that is to win the Champions League. it seems unlikely that he will leave early or have his contract terminated. And where would Pep still want to go? in terms of strength, only Bayern Munich comes close to City, the rest are quite behind. Psg would be a challenge because of its decent players and reunion with Messi, but I don't see any reason for him to leave.

PSG has a very very tough matchup, not just looking at rosters, if we looked at rosters I would say the game was already over and PSG won, they have a much much better roster to be honest, but PSG is not playing at 100% whereas Real is always dangerous and ready to beat anyone they face even when they are not at their best. This is why it is going to be a bit of a difficulty and lets hope that we end up with something decent to watch at the very least.

Exactly, it's not about how many star players there are in one club, but more about the mentality of the players and also the strategy of the game on the field. I believe in Madrid because of their performance, not because of who the players are there. Madrid players certainly have better confidence than PSG players, because of their good performances in the UCL or even in La-Liga.

However, what might be a problem if they have some key player get injured from both. because player injuries will have an impact, on the game of Madrid and PSG.

But in my opinion, maybe the match will only produce a little goals later, because the two teams have a squad depth that is quite capable and evenly distributed in each position, besides that individual and collective abilities as a team are also owned by both teams, so of course in that match both teams will playing with carefull and minimizing any mistakes that might occur, I think the PSG and Madrid match will put the maturity of the squad and also the winning mentality.
PSG already have a lot of great players and Real Madrid are also almost the same but if you look in detail there are more great players at PSG so I personally prefer PSG for the second match or in the match later, and if Real Madrid can win, then it's just just luck factor in a match.
Most times it is not all about the greatness of the players that wins the match, especially when it is Champoins League.
So, while talking about the greatness of the players, let's consider the greatness of the team in terms of experience in Champions league.
Real Madrid as players have better experience of Champions league. Even as a team, they have better experience of Champions league more than always exiting PSG. So, I expect RM to succeed this stage no matter how formidable PSG may appear.

PSG are chasing the champions trophy for the first time in the history of the club, facing Madrid is certainly like the final that is too early. Having a star player, should be able to give good results for PSG in the UCL, however, we also need to pay attention to Madrid's current position which can maintain the positive trend they have had since the start of the season. Both in the UCL and in La-Liga, madrid has the dominance in the match, this needs to be watched out for by PSG, based on this stats, my prediction is Madrid will be able to qualify for the next phase, even with a thin aggregate goal. of course, stats is nothing, who have better playing scheme, they will be the winner.
Madrid has always been a great tournament team, they won UCL nearly twice as more as the closest team. They have 13 cups so far whereas closest is Milan with 7, and third is 6 with Liverpool so more than twice of third team. Not all of them were won when they were the best team, sometimes not even on La Liga championship run, so it is easy to say that Madrid is definitely not the type of team that would give up too easily.

Almost every team in this round is strong. It is difficult to predict which team will advance to the next round. In particular, you said that Madrid has a chance to play in the final. However, Madrid's opponent in this round is PSG. Winning against a strong team like PSG is not easy for Madrid. PSG's goal is to win the Champions League. They have taken star players with lots of wages only for the Champions League.

In this season with the arrival of Messi their hungriness about UEFA Champions League is also more because now they are spending some very good funds with many quality players in squad but still there are many doubts because it's not easy for them to fight against some very good and quality teams for title.

Real Madrid is really power house in current season in La Liga and their record in UEFA Champions League not need any comments from anyone. After this we have few more teams those are trying their best for many years and have nothing, so we have to wait for final result in coming months because all will be happened at ground instead of talks or any other forum.

I hope all team can play without any problem like Covid 19 and all player must be fit on champion league begin middle week of February, still many change of player composition team because few days later window transfer opening although still looks lonely about which one player will move from one club to other club. How ever Liverpool right now as favorite can pass next stage faced with Inter Milan but never forget what pandemic happening right now make player composition changed, maybe have few important player from Liverpool get covid 19 and can give change different result.
I don't understand about the regulation of covid cases at UCL. But I hope there is no case that causes one of the clubs to become short of players when going to play. The Omicron outbreak seems to be growing and hitting many football players.
The disease cannot be controlled and does not know when it will attack. Read the news if the UK is included as a country with a lot of omicron outbreaks. The hope is that the UCL committee provides the best regulation if there is one club that is affected by the Omicron outbreak.

Draw chance is also important, they may pick easier opponents.

The rules have changed this year, for draws and away/home goals.
It seems that it is now irrelevant whether they score away goals or concede goals at home. What counts is the sum of goals, no matter how many you score away from home or at home. Whoever scores the most goals passes.
Therefore, the games may become more interesting in the first leg, where both teams certainly want to score a goal at any opportunity.
Of course the weaker teams will continue to aim for a draw, and for a more counterattack game.
I did not knew that, this changes the way the matches are going to be played and the strategies for them, away goals were very important as they gave the team that could score one a huge advantage, so weak teams could take advantage of this by trying to play a very defensive game at home and then try to score a goal over the second match, however now that this is gone the best team will have an advantage as this becomes a non-factor.

Pep was already retiring on a temporary basis when Real Mourinho questioned Barcelona's hegemony and won the championship. At the time, this was explained by back problems, but then Pep quickly found a new superclub and since then his back has not hurt, haha ) I wonder if Pep will have an ultimately strong competitor in the English championship, will he go back to another championship or will he stay?

Pep Guardiola deserves it at Manchester City. They have really gone that far, and couldn't clinch it. They should be winners at the end of the Champions League this term if they successfully surpass the semi finals
To be honest, I would also really like to see Guardiola winning the Champions League title also before he leaves his current job at the team. Because he said something about leaving in the near future. Manchester City are one of the most deserving teams when it comes to this title. Their closest moment to the title was in the last season but Chelsea somehow got the title. Maybe this is their turn.
City will pass Sporting but they have fierce opponents. I think if Bayern, Inter and Liverpool will be eliminated before facing City then Guardiola might lift the trophy with the team finally this year. I don't see the others as a real threat to City right now.
Manchester City looks like a very serious candidate to win the Champions League this season, but the cup system has its own peculiarities and any strongest favorite can play an unsuccessful individual match and end up in the tournament. Pep Guardiola is a great master in the systematic construction of teams that achieve results over a long distance, but even such a master does not always manage to do it in cup competitions, which is the Champions League. This was demonstrated by the example in the final with Chelsea, when the club could not take the decisive step and win a particular individual match. On the other hand, it gives hope that this will happen to the club in the end. Another question is whether the coach will survive until this moment, knowing that Guardiola does not like to work in one place for a long time and wants to take on new challenges.

I believe that Pep is only waiting to win the champions league before calling quits on Manchester City, and as a Manchester United fan I need him to leave quickly, because City are currently unplayable under him.

Furthermore last time City chocked under pressure, but if they reach the finals again then there’s no excuse for them not to win it, but at least let them reach the semi final before we can declare that they’ll win the champions league.
