I think that the toughest group is group B. Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Porto and Milan all are powerful teams. Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are the toughest ones of course And I'm expecting Liverpool to end the group stage at the 1st place. And Atletico Madrid shouldn't have much problem to end as the 2nd. It will be hard to decide the 3rd one. Milan are really strong and I think they can finish above Porto.
That is very strong group and there will be plenty of good games in it. I am thinking Porto will take couple of important points here.

I am also very interested in PSG & City group. Two biggest favorites to win Champions League both in the same group. That will be mouthwatering clash to chow us actual strength of these two giants. Can't wait for the first game between them.

It was the draw for the group stage of the Champions League.

I think group A and group E are two groups that will probably be very competitive.

What do you think?
FALSE.

group D would be really interesting to watch ..
the underdog shaktar that always makes big teams like real madrid struggled could make another year another surprises...
moreover everyone seems would taking a chance to bet on the unexpected sheriff a Moldovan side to feature in the #UCL Group Stage for the first ever time in history and get through of this quite predictable group.
i would also taking my chance Grin

I think only group A will have a really tough competition because Leipzig is quite good too...

btw, I'm happy that Chelsea is in group H and only has Juventus as a formidable opponent.

go go go Chelsea.. let's destroy them all

What do you think?

Group A looks so juicy and those matches between Manchester city and PSG will be like 2 finals already at start of the champions league. Plus if Cristiano Ronaldo joins City it will be again a great battle between Messi and Ronaldo

As an Austrian and also a fan of Ajax, I have to say Salzburg and Ajax both got a good group, second place for promotion in the Champions League or third place for the Europa League is definitely possible, I personally like it and both teams were lucky with the draw.

I think the hardest groups are A and E and group B will also be very competitive. The group stage will definitely be exciting.

In group A and group E, I think you'll have a only few though games to look forward too, Bayern vs Barcelona, then PSG vs Man City... However, the most competitive game in my opinion would be group C and group F, where almost every match would be somewhat even, and it will be hard to predict teams that make it out of those group.

I like the fact there are a lot big teams facing each other in the group stage so there will always be a hyped fixture almost each game week.

In my opinion, the most equal group can be considered group G, here it is difficult for me to determine who can be the favorite and who the outsider. As for groups A and E, there is probably no doubt about who should get out of the group stage into the playoffs. It will be interesting to look at the confrontation between PSG and Man City, PSG looks intimidating this season. ) As for Barcelona and Bayern, I think Bayern is stronger than Barcelona right now.

Well,,, Young Boys actually made it into group stages before so that is not such a shock for me plus, the Switzerland teams are also doing well at FIFA level. But like you said, they end up becoming easy prey for the big teams.

Cannot say they did not deserve it though because at this highest level if you cannot big Sheriff, you do not deserve to be in group stages.
For a club like Sheriff, even reaching the group stage is already a big victory. For reaching the group stage, decent prize money is already relying, which definitely motivates the teams very strongly. The sheriff is definitely the opening of the season for me, let's see what they will be capable of next, but I think that it will be much more difficult to play in the group.

Young Boys were more fortunate with their rivals, there weren't enough strong rivals in their way, such as Monaco. By the way, Shakhtar coped with Monaco, although the beginning of the match looked very difficult for them. Unambiguously Monaco looked stronger, attacked more, but this was not enough to win at Shakhtar. I told, that Shakhtar is a strong team and they always play to the end.

I can't believe that teams like Sheriff Tiraspol and Young Boys managed to get into Champions League, and they are going to easy pray for any normal European club in group stages.
If you can't beat teams like this at your home stadium, and if you lost away from home than you don't deserve to qualify to next stage.
Shakhtar Donetsk just scored goal in extra time and they are near of kicking off Monaco, or maybe it was a self kick with a own goal.

Now this is the real Monaco!

Shakhtar won though, it was a really close one.

Monaco deserved much more than Shakhtar to qualify for the group stage but here we are. After making it 2-0, Monaco had a huge advantage and they kept it for a long time. Shakhtar still managed to score in the 74th minute and came back to life. If there was still an away goal rule, then Monaco were going to advance to the next round. But we watched extra time after seeing 2-2 aggregate. And Shakhtar ended Monaco's hopes by scoring in the 114th minute. That was really a close call for them. Congrats!

I’ll be watching the draw tonight, I do most years. Really hoping we (LFC) get a favourable draw. Looking at the possible teams we can get, it looks likely we will get a good draw. Not many teams in pot 1 are the elite, we are in pot 2 so we can’t get Real or Barcelona. We also can’t play Man City or Chelsea from pot 1.

Atalanta is a very strong team and I must admit that the Pot where it is present is very favorable (compared to others)

so this year I expect Atalanta to reach at least the quarter-finals

nice Smiley i love Atalanta

I do not understand what do you mean, Pot 3 is all teams that will be put as third teams in each group / one per group
so, Atalanta will not play against any of other teams in Pot3, at least in group stage, could meet them later, if pass group stage

nevertheless, Atalanta is a good team, but all these teams seem as equally strong in Pot3, Atalanta and Leipzig being on the top, Shakhtar and Zenit on the bottom

when the draw?
Today 26 August on Istanbul, Turkey 18:00 CET Live on EUFA.com

Very interesting groups, at first sight you have to say that pot 2 is stronger than pot 1, but I think it's good that for pot 1 the country winners of the strongest nations are preferred, earlier only with the club coefficient it was always very similar groups and now there is more tension in my opinion.

For the smaller teams it is financially very rewarding that they have come into the Champions League groups, just for participation in the group stage there is already € 15 million without game and points bonuses, a very strong performance by Portugal to get 3 teams into the group stage.

while the draw will also announcement who the best UEFA player of this year, the following players is De Bruyne, Jorginho, Kante
2 players from Chelsea and 1 from Manchester city. ( I will bet for Kante), no doubt he is a player who creates Chelsea as Lion of this year

https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague

@blue Snow this will be a tough call because De Bruyne helped city win the league title, and Kante helped Chelsea win the champions league. However if it were to me then I would give the award to Kante, because he’s one of the best player in modern football and deserves this award.
