I don't get why people think that Barcelona has to be horrible just because they lost to PSG, I mean this is the same team that barely lost the finals last year, not like they lost to some second division team, or not even a champions league level team that is "good" they have lost to last finalists of the cup, that is really fair, you do not have to expect Barcelona to beat every single team.

It was a bad draw to get PSG this early, and that is why they waved good bye very early on but that was because they played against PSG, there are like maybe 2 or 3 teams that could easily beat Barcelona in the world, all the rest would pray for a tie against them, aside from PSG, Bayern and maybe City as well, there is nobody that could beat them. However right now is not time to let things go for Barcelona, they are very close to ATM at La Liga and could potentially get it.

Juventus failed again, Ronaldo's purchase project to win the UCL seemed in vain. They depend too much on Ronaldo. They won but didn't qualify. It reminds me of 2009 when Juve played Milan. At that time Sulley Muntari scored with a header but was not approved by the referee and the ball crossed the goal line. He hopes that even though the referee doesn't endorse him he hopes Bufon will be the goalkeeper for Juve, he can admit it. However, until now there has been no such acknowledgment. So that Muntari once said "as long as Bufon doesn't admit it is a goal, then Juventus will never win the Champions League." Yes, since 2009 Juve have never won the UCL, but is this because of what Sulley Muntari said? I am not sure.
In fact, I've heard this news before about Buffon still not admitting his mistakes, is this really a curse for Juve's words from Sulley Muntari? Because a lot of speculation says like that and only a curse that Juventus will never win the Champions League for ever. In fact, I also don't confirm it, maybe it can be just a coincidence.

We know that Ronaldo is old enough that Juve should not need to rely on Ronaldo because there are still many players who are stronger and more solitary as long as they fit the strategy in their formation.

And Andrea Pirlo has no previous UEFA match experience as a coach.

Yeah It is hard to realise that Juve and Leipzig are kicked out early by Porto and Liverpool respectively. Liverpool in particular was crap from weeks, yet it won against Leipzig! Well I know you mean Barca is one of the two big teams but personally I wasn't surprised to see them out.
Next week, Real, City, Bayern and Chelsea to confirm its position and the Spanish teams will have hard moments certainly. Now switch to EL.

Messi and Ronaldo are great players. But 11 people play football. And one person cannot win the game. He needs the help of other players from the team. Yesterday Messi did everything he could. But the team could not support him. Barcelona must definitely strengthen the team. Otherwise, you can forget about winning the Champions League for the next few years.

I totally agree with you on this. It is sad to see Messi's and Ronaldo's teams both got eliminated early. Messi scored a superb goal and tried his best to help his team have a chance for the quarter final. I know that he also missed a penalty in the first half but still his effort was very good. But Barcelona couldn't even score the 2nd despite being very dominant. I see no future for Messi at Barcelona to win the CL unless they create a squad with much better players. A team like Barcelona shouldn't be in such situation in an international tournament.

Congratulations to Liverpool, their struggling in the EPL turned out that they were able to make my predictions wrong yesterday. I thought about Liverpool's defeat by looking at the result of the Leipzig match in the Bundesliga. However, Liverpool have proven that they deserve the title of the EPL club with the most trophy collections.

PSG was also quite a surprise by getting rid of Barcelona. Now PSG is back with the hope of playing in the UCL final or even targeting to become champions this season.

Both matches yesterday were not very exciting to watch sadly because it was always very clear which teams will advance. Maybe if messi would have scored that penalty near the end of the first halt it would have been a different story.
Leipzig also delivered a very disappointing performance yesterday. They are usually able to play so fast and straightforward towards the enemy goal but yesterday nothing of that was to be seen. This way liverpool, even in their current shape, had zero problems with leipzig.

RIP Barca, but I'm very proud of how we went down. A little disappointed in the second half though, most of our shots and attempts came in the first half but we got so tired. If only we put one more goal in, or perhaps the penalty which was the key turning point, things would be different.

Now we turn to La Liga and Copa del Rey. GG PSG.

Well done to Psg for securing their qualification against Barcelona.Barcelona played well and if Messi didn't lose the penalty of 1-2 things may had gone differently.I think Psg tried to play calm as they had already secured the qualification in the first leg when they won 1-4 in Camp Nou.

Barcelona made a great effort but they only managed to score one goal which was really a great goal by Messi. PSG already had a 4-1 score advantage before the game and they did it 5-1 with Mbappe's penalty goal. After that, they didn't want to wear themselves out much as it was really hard for Barcelona to advance. As you said, if Messi didn't miss the penalty, maybe they could make a comeback but who knows.

Barcelona needed a miracle to reach the next Champions League round.
PSG had to control the match and only avoid mistakes that could have given a few chances to Barça. Now the two best players in the world, Messi and Ronaldo, can watch the competition on their massive 4K Ultra TV screens.  Grin

Barcelona played very well. Fate is not helpful so they have been defeated. PSG played defensively throughout the match. Their main goal was to draw the match. Barcelona has made a total of 21 shots, while PSG has made only 7. Ball possession Barcelona 72% and PSG is only 28%. If Barcelona can perform like this in the LA League, I think they can win the La Liga title.

PSG going well, they didn't play the parking bus scheme, PSG play as usual, Mbappe creates the first goal which indirectly creates high pressure on Barcelona team especially Lionel (failed penalty).

I think PSG didn't play as usual. In the second half, PSG played the defensive scheme, which we often see there are 10 PSG men in their defensive line, and sometimes they perform counterattacks when they had the opportunity (I think this is a reasonable strategy considering their opponents have 4 goals deficit).

So that Barcelona had more possession and tried to attack more, and occasionally can create some opportunities, but unfortunately, Barcelona had a poor finishing and looks hastily while in the PSG penalty area.

It sure is closing, and for the big teams/favorites like Bayern and City, they'll be happy two really big teams are already out of their way, making things somewhat easier, though in the CL, one can get knocked out by any team, but nonetheless it's much better to face Porto, than Barcelona in a UCL QF.
That is true but it wasnt very decisive as you make it out to be. Would have been 5-3 with still 2 goal lead. Wouldnt have been much trouble for PSG.
I don't think so, that penalty came in the first half, if Messi had scored, that gives them extra momentum heading into the second half, they prolly might not have had their comeback, but it could have made the second half more interesting and put more pressure on PSG in the second 45 minutes.

well, it would've been nice for Barcelona to have a Penaldo on their team to score that pen in such a decisive and crucial and possibly game-changing moment, right?  Cheesy  penaldo doesn't miss pens, that's why they call him penaldo

Everyone thought Messi isn't missing that but Navas pulled off a great save but if it would have been steered into the corner then it could have been a goal. Navas was really great yesterday as well as Marquinhos denying all those Barcelona efforts. Barcelona had some really close if we brush aside that missed penalty- most of them chances created from the crosses but there wasn't anyone that committed to go inside and tuck the ball inside properly.

Messi goal was nice? wasn't it. Still his penalty..ugh -_-.

This season is a continue of the last season and two latest seasons are the early calls for the slippery journey of Ronaldo and Messi in their career. Their goals in Champions League decreased in past few seasons. Ronaldo was bought by Juventus with hope and expectation to help them win the Champions League. Unfortunately, after that transfer from Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored very little goals in Champions League except the first season in Juventus. He scored 6, 4 and 4 goals in Champions League last 3 seasons. In the previous 7 seasons, Ronaldo did not score less than 10 goals.

In the same period, Messi got troubles with Barcelona's President, coach and quality of team mates.

Their dominating era has been ending.

Why can’t we play like that in the PL damn it. Leipzig are 2 points behind the great, all conquering Bayern team in Germany, we have just beaten them 4-0 over 2 legs. Crazy stuff, how do we play like this in the CL but lose every week to crap teams in the PL. Maybe the CL can be good for us this season, we are not favourites but we can be a tough opponent for anybody. Bring on the 1/4 finals.
Premier league play and champions league one is completly diffrent. Liverpool only has champions league left to make something out of this terrible season. And like you said they gone pass against Leipzig so thats a huge step

I agree that the Premier League and the Champions League are different competitions, so maybe Liverpool are under more pressure when
they play in the Premier League. Because Liverpool last season won the Premier League, so requiring them to play well, this is what makes Liverpool players depressed. Whereas in the Champions League, they are more able to play independently, so Liverpool players can give their best performance.
It is very worthy of Liverpool to qualify for the next round by successfully beating Leipzig, and the Champions League is now Liverpool's only hope of
being able to get a trophy this season.

i think not about pressure
but all center back senior liverpool player injury, virgil vandijk, joe martip, joe gomez, and fabinho
so liverpool defence not good

I dont think liverpool will do big things this season in the champoins league and i believe if they play againts bayern or psg in the quarter final they will find them self in real trouble...maybe liverpool in the champoins league is not the same as liverpool in the pl but i believe they need to mzke their best to beat psg or bayern
