I believe there is a good reason why Aston Villa would not become the champion and besides the fact that they first have to qualify for the final, I believe that Fiorentina would be a very tough opponent in a final. I know that they haven't been doing very well lately in the domestic league, but I think they are hard to play against when there is a title at stake and they remind themselves of what they are able to. In Serie A they are quite lost in the middle of the table, but I would not underestimate them in a Conference League final.

I can't say Villa were better than Lille... They had almost no shots in regulation time and miraculously managed to score a goal... The penalty shootout was just luck and Villa were lucky... About Fiorentina I can't say that they are a weak opponent for Villa either... Maybe Fenerbahce and Brugge yes, but Fiorentina will definitely give a fight... Probably the winner of this match will take the cup...

Very funny how that turned out... Aston Villa are the only English club to continue playing in European Cups this season... They were lucky to score a goal in the last minutes and ended up in the semi-finals...

Unfortunately, Fenerbahce eliminated a rival they could have eliminated by making the wrong decisions.Ismail kartal's decisions led to Fenerbahce's loss to olympiakos.We can say that it all started when he took Fred out of the game.Fred asked his coach "why are you taking me out?" but of course it was too late.It really pisses me off that Ismail kartal is such an unqualified person.It's really inconceivable that they couldn't take advantage of this when this was a rival they could have eliminated and even when they had a chance to be champions in the conference league this season.

Aston Villa are through the semi finals! However they owe Emiliano Martinez a lot for this qualification. Grin

He literally saved 2 penalties to bring the semi finals to his team. Such a big experience really!

Otherwise Lille were doing a pretty good work and I was expecting for that also after what I saw in the first leg. They really fought hard against the biggest title contender but it was very difficult to get past Martinez.

Now Fiorentina and Aston Villa have qualified so far. Fenerbahçe are in the lead by 1-0 and I believe they will also make it. Club Brugge are really comfortable with their 2-0 lead and they should be more comfortable to make it to the semi finals.

I knew they'd ben in trouble once they allowed Lille a goal in the first leg, just didn't expect it to be so soon like this. Not over though, far from, Villa still have a goal in them somewhere and they will fancy themselves if it goes to penalties.

Edit: and they scored just as I was posting this. 3-3 on aggregate, took a deflection but you have to keep making your luck. Game on!

I have a little something on PAOK and Brugge BTTS.

Brugge is clearly the better overall team here, but they did waste quite a few chances in the first leg to largely put it away, including a penalty in the second half.

PAOK at home is a different beast though, they completed a comeback against Dinamo Zagreb in the 1/8 finals with a 5-1 thrashing (0:2). Those six goals are most certainly not an outlier. This season, PAOK's five home matches in Europe have produced 23 goals, or nearly five per game.

I expect an open match, Brugge has enough quality to score at least one on the counter, given PAOK's need to mount another comeback.

The Europa League and Conference League are full of surprises... Some favourite teams can get really unexpected results for various reasons. Some of them are focused on an achievement to earn in their domestic league at the same time and give less importance to these tournaments. Some of them just underestimate their opponents and get surprised by them.

This was really what happened in the Plzen v Fiorentina match. I can't imagine how many people bet on Fiorentina to win especially because of its very attracting odds. I will expect Fiorentina to win home in regular time though. We wouldn't come across another surprising result I assume right? Grin

Yes, many surprises occur in European matches, not only in the Conference League even in UCL and UEL matches some favorite teams that are considered to win are easily defeated or draw, if it only happens in 1-2 matches that is normal but this time it happened in many matches lol. As gamblers we have to be more careful in predicting the match in the second leg there may be another surprise there it would be better to watch the match first before deciding to bet. So far I favor Fiorentina and Aston Villa it seems these two teams will reach the final, while Fenerbahce is still in the grey.

It is true that Fiorentia failing to get a win was a bit disappointing that's a game they should have won without a doubt. However, Villa got the win and that was the bet I had , I put a good money on them because I honestly believe that they look like the team that can win it all and I believe that no team could be as good as team in this cup anymore.

Looking at all other games you can see that all other teams are weaker and that's the most important thing. I get that we are talking about a situation where things are not that simple, so maybe I could be wrong and I trust Villa this much but that doesn't mean that I am right, that's just what I feel that's it. Too lazy to read so I might be mistaken but Fenerbahce's threats to withdraw from the Turkish League means they won't be a member of the FA anymore. Doubt they'll do it, at least not until the season ends, as they'll want to be in this UEFA competition (and I'm certain cannot compete if not member of Turkish FA).

Don't know how this all affects the players on field but usually a team with external issues can't focus on the pitch -- so I'm staying off them for bets.

Villa my pick too, and that's maybe the laziest assessment but they're the only team I've seen play and they're pretty special plus got a coach who knows the map of UEFA KO tournaments Wink

Lille's not exactly a shit team though.

Olympiacos are a really challenging opponent for us. However there is no chance for you to get an easy draw as of this stage. If we look at it objectively I think that we are one step ahead of Olympiacos but everything can happen in this matchup. There would be brilliant atmospheres to be created by the supporters in both matches. If I manage to find a ticket I will absolutely follow the match at the stadium in İstanbul/Kadıköy on April 18th. I would send photos to you.

Yeah think I saw a punter losing big on that Belgian game, mystifying for me as well that the Turks would slip at home, but if I were them, I'd be happy to use up my "loss" on home soil before the QFs. You usually need to lose a game or two to wake up the rest of the team, no better timing.

Agreed on Fiorentina, zero value for them. I really want to say this cup is Villa's to win, they certainly have the manager pedigree to do it, not sure about the personnel on field though.
