It was yet another bad performance from Croatia, toothless in attack and in panic mode whenever there's a cross coming into our box. I'm really not confident we'll even pass the group playing like this.

And it is more than obvious that some old players cannot be replaced so easily - and above all I mean Mandzukic who was definitely a class above the strikers we have now. You can't beat anyone if you don't score goals, which is the biggest lack that Croatia currently has - with of course a defense that is not coordinated and often seems panicky.

I don't think it's so unattainable to pass the group, because it would be enough to achieve one victory and two draws for that goal - and regardless of England being the big favorite, they didn't show impressive football in the preliminaries either - a 1-0 victory against Austria and Romania - while Scotland scarcely defeated mighty Luxembourg with great difficulty (0-1).

Far from looking as good as in Russia, but it is no longer the same team, and we should all be aware of that.

I would not count out the veterans playing in this tournament so soon,,, I do agree when you see teams like England full of young players, and a slower team like Croatia, you fear for them. But do not forget in these short and KO rounds,,, energy is not all you need but experience. The problem though is as cryptofrka mentions the panic when cross comes in. That is supposed to be something pros do not fear at all and reminds me of my supposedly experienced team I support;)

@ILuckyGuyI indeed England are the favourites to win this match, but I feel they have many player’s who could be ruled out due to injuries, and even the existing one look too tired so it’s an even game for me. Furthermore if you see England last match they literally laboured to a 1 - 0 victory, hence they may not be all powerful like they look.
England and Croatia are the two team that are likely to qualify next among the 4 team in Group D. I believe the match will not be easy for these two team and maybe I will think that the result will be a draw. These two won't be named as favourite, I guess they have the same strength.

England are the favourites

England is one of the most highly rated teams, in bookmakers, to win the competition.
The first game will show whether it is like this or not.

England - Croatia is another interesting game in Round 1. It is going to be played in Wembley and there are going to be limited number of supporters (max 22500). And the game is this Sunday. England are the overwhelming team here of course. I see Croatia as away from their old performance. But who knows, maybe they can make a much greater effort in this tournament. But I think that England will manage to beat them with a 1 or 2-goal difference.

Good news fo the Belgium national team: Kevin De Bruyne recovers after the hard blow suffered against Chelsea in Champions League and will be regularly available for Euro 2020. This was announced by coach Roberto Martinez in a press conference:
Quote
Obviously it's fantastic news. He looks ready, his entrance in the dining room was a nice moment: he is already in the mental state of the team. He reacted very well to Saturday's operation, he still needs a few days but he's fine. When we have the green light, we will integrate him into the group.
De Bruyne is a top player, one of those that can usually make a difference and I bet Martinez is happy about having him back.

Oh absolutely, if De Bruyne would miss the group stage that would be a real loss for the team. He is such a flexible player. That guy is running like a horse all over the field. I wish Eden Hazard could play his best and stay alright during this tournament. He is so much fun to watch but injured all the time or he can't deliver the way he used to. Good though he is with the team and maybe it is a kind of resurrection for him.

The Belgian team is very stable. Their forward have Romelu Lukaku, a great striker. Midfield includes Hazard and De Bruyne. Two of the best midfielders in the world. If De Bruyne can't play then it will definitely affect the team. However, if Hazard and Lukaku can perform well, then Belgium has the ability to beat a team like Russia.

Whatever, Germany seems to be prepared with a relatively convincing win last night in the last preparation game, but now the real deals are waiting with France and Portugal.

After the German national team won 7:1 against Latvia yesterday, Joachim Löw plans to with the same lineup against France. Only Leroy Sané could move into the lineup for Kai Havertz.

Joachim Löw is planning to start with today's exact same lineup against France. The only remaining question mark is who will start between Havertz and Sané [Bild]

Personally, I think Joachim Löw should start with the same lineup against France after the strong game yesterday. Thomas Müller and Kai Haverts, in particular, put in a very good performance yesterday and made a significant impact on the game. I'm really excited to see how the German national team will perform at the European Championship.

...The regular European nations at the top like England, France, Germany, Italy and so forth will be at the top...

Can you please remind me how many times England has won the UEFA European Championship? Come to think of it, how many times has England finished in the top two?

You don't say!

Haha come on don't be so mean when it comes to England! Wink You are right of course but when you give a guess you look at the squads in that very moment for the most part. Sure history and experience has proven to play a role, but when Greece can do it, England also has a chance I guess! Cheesy

Belgium won easily against Croatia yesterday, the 1-0 scoreline really flattered us. They had a few more good chances and 2 crossbars in the same attack as well.
They were playing without Witsel and De Bruyne, with Hazard playing only a few minutes at the end of the game.

It was yet another bad performance from Croatia, toothless in attack and in panic mode whenever there's a cross coming into our box. I'm really not confident we'll even pass the group playing like this.

Yes I see Croatia are in a difficult group, I saw scotland and enland playing well in the last match while the Czechs and Croatia still haven't seen an improvement
If this continues I agree with you Croatia will be difficult to get to the next stage, unless they are something to hide.

I think Croatia will make it out of the group. But it will be quite difficult further. The only strong opponent is England. Scotland and the Czech Republic will hardly be able to compete with England and Croatia.

Scotland have been playing well so far you can check their latest matches, on the other hand Croatia has yet to find its best performance
I know it's just a trial match but this can affect their performance in the main match later, we will see in the first game later.

yesterday night, the German junior U21 team became European champions. that was a bit of a surprise.
now I hope that the older players, i.e. the normal national team, will also really step on the gas and do very well at the European Football Championship.

It was always obvious that some of the teams that once was good do not become that great constantly, they just have "times" that they become good but that's about it. In the end we are not going to see Crotia or any other team like that be at the top. The regular European nations at the top like England, France, Germany, Italy and so forth will be at the top, one exception is that Spain is not seen as that good this year which I agree with, they are still quite good but I do not think that they are as good as they used to be.

Let's see what happens but I believe it will not be decided until the very last game, it is always like "what's going on!!!" shocking at these cups.

Mandzukic is more than a striker. In Juventus, he can play as a winger and a swing defender and he is very adaptive with tactics as well as requirements from coaches. Mandzukic has good team spirit and every team need him.

The contribution of Mandzukic is more than a striker and goals and Croatia will need many years to find another good player like him.

Croatia national team with this generation touched their best in World Cup 2018 with the final match.
