Is there a specific reason why all the games will played in the same stadium? Is the Allianz Arena the only german's venue that can make a covid-compliant game possible? I can't believe that Germany doesn't have similar great stadiums around.
Is this happening in other countries too? that's something I didn't follow.

yes, munich is the only venue in germany - whether the other european stadiums will allow some spectators depends of course on the government and how the pandemic numbers in the respective country develop
Ok I see still I don't get what difference that could really make. Is Munich covid free or what? I could maybe understand that avoiding players to move around the country much could reduce risks, but still I don't see the point. Maybe it's just me

By the way, congrats to Germany U21 for the winner on 3rd time. Nmecha creates a goal, this means he also gets the golden shoes as the tops score of tournaments.

Congratulations Germany Under-21.

They were very well tactically, managing to nullify the tactics of Portugal and their best players.
It was a beautiful game, any team could have won. But Germany did slightly better.

Congratulations to the Germany u21 team. They eliminated Denmark on penalties in the quarterfinals.  They beat the strong Netherlands in the semi-finals. In the final, they defeated Portugal and showed that they deserved the championship. This success of Germany's under-21 players shows that the German national team will continue on its way successfully in the coming years.

One of the favorites of Euro2021 is the German national team. They fell into the tough group in this tournament.  Let's see how they will succeed.

What will happen if a case will happen if a team will get cases during the 3-week competition?
The 1st game of Spain will be at 14th June.

Thats a good question and hope they have already some kind of backup plan for this , fingers crossed they dont have to use it.
But all is possible there and if more Teams get infected i guess its possible they abort the Cup or extend it.

By the way, congrats to Germany U21 for the winner on 3rd time. Nmecha creates a goal, this means he also gets the golden shoes as the tops score of tournaments.
Congrats to the U 21 Team and to there coach Stefan Kunz who has done an awesome job there.

Sergio Busquests has found positive for Covid, and now the whole Spain team is in quarantine.

Any information that those national players have been vaccinated before the tournament?

I think they should get 2 doses of vaccine before the tournament. I know they will be infected after vaccination but risk will become lower with full vaccination.
In a short tournament, any infectious case will be serious and team will be not able to have substitution from new calling player. Even UEFA allows national teams to call for new players, it is risky because they can bring the virus to the whole team.

Very chaotic.

Spain squad didn't vaccine yet, when I read the news, 24 players just landed without the vaccine. https://en.as.com/en/2021/06/06/football/1623012265_814562.html

As for Portugal, I am not sure that they are in good playing form now...
I think people are sleeping on Portugal when it come to picking the teams to qualify from the group, low key right now Portugal has better player to their areas responsibilities than Germany.
I think my teams to go further in the group is France and Portugal, because this teams has players to set their opponent into confusion.
I think Germany are a gone era just like Brazil and Argentina.

I would not be so categorical about Germany, in my opinion this team is not bad... Germany is a regular contender in all the cups... It's true that in 2018 they disgraced themselves, but I think that this year they will prove that it's still too early to write them off!

Oh no I did not read this in the news until I saw your post and now confirmed it,,, what is going on over there in Europe I thought most countries there already pass the covid spike and did not the players all go through covid bubble preparations like in America?

I read about press news about this they said all these things would be taken care of but this is a huge problem now.

The only good thing is rest of team are negative.

If more cases of different players in different teams will happen this will impact the tournament and we may see interruption or cancelled games.I hope everything will be OK until the 14th of June but if this case of Spain is isolated they can postpone the first game of Spain and hopefully there will not be other cases so the tournament can proceed normally.

There are only a few days left for the opening match of the tournament. Italy are going to host Turkey. Actually, there is no home-away situtation in this tournament but Italy are so lucky for being able to play in their home stadium. I think that they can take advantage of this opportunity and Turkey can have a tough time beating them. In my opinion, this game will end in a draw.

I think this game is open for all three outcomes and I definitely wouldn't put a side bet for the opening game. I'm expecting a controlled football by both teams so under 2.5 goals might be a better option. I rather stay away from betting and enjoy the match though, Türkiye is known for having surprise results on all big tournaments. This happened in last 2 decades, if you check their history, you won't put any bet for or against them. Grin

You are right man. Turkey achieved surprising results both in the 2002 world cup and in the Euro 2008 tournament. In Euro 2008, every match up to the semi-finals fell behind and managed to turn the match. I remember the Croatia - Turkey match. Croatia scored in the 119th minute and Turkey scored in the 120th minute. They eliminated Croatia on penalties.

I'm not going to place a bet on this opening game. I think I will enjoy watching the match in front of the TV.

Even though if Italy plays away or plays abroad I think at this opportunity Italy will still win, I really believe Italy will win Group A. So yes, a draw isn't too bad either, but with them playing at the Stadio Olimpico that means they are playing at home so it is very possible for Italy to get full points in their inaugural match.

I'm staying clear from the opening fixture too. Turkey have this habit of causing an upset especially when they're up against a stronger team. I would've gone for total goals market for the game but there's a good chance of the game ending in a goalless draw. It also looks like a 1-0 clash. Italy might just win with a lone goal to put them in a good position in group A. But since there's no way to be sure, I won't be placing any bets. But I would do for subsequent bets. Need to see Italy's first performance.

It is just a temporarily gone era. Transition between old players to new squad requires some time, unfortunately international games are very sparse which don't allow newer players to know each other in terms of gameplay. Brazil, Argentina, Germany, those teams have always big names and will compete for top places.
For Portugal, it shouldn't be underestimated, that's all what I can say.

People who vaccinated and have licenses can join the match. If the government allows open stadium, with big crowd, they will ask those vaccination license. But it is still risky, you can still be infected even you are already got 2 doses of vaccine.
As far as I know, Vaccine do not make recipient immune to viral infection and they are still at risk of contracting it even after getting 2 doses. This may have to get the attention and consideration of the government before giving permission to the supporter to fill the stadium. If the government give permission, health protocols and social distancing must also be applied to minimize the number of transmission.
Thanks to vaccination and much better numbers in europe, there is a good amount of places that accept the fans in the stadiums, I do not mind it honestly, obviously there is a good amount of games that I watched which I believed was better without any fans, there are "derby" type of situations which means it is really worse with fans because they create a chaos, this way there is none.

At the end of the day there is a good amount of players who ask for fans and that is what matters, if the players want to see the fans and if the organizations need the fans for the money for it, then there will be fans because that is the people who they are trying to appease and that is why there will be some fans, not full stadiums but there will be some fans. I wouldn't really mind if the game was like zero fans, just friends and family, like maybe 200 at the most.

Nothing exciting from today's games, except confirmation that Caucasus teams like Georgia still have a long way to go before readying themselves in four years' time for the next Euro, getting thrashed by a proper team in a friendly;)

But Greece been scoring in last few games, hm?

That is part of the game: we are at the end of the season and these players are worn out by countless games since August 2020. I think it is absolutely normal that players are now more prone to get injured. These guys are tired, it is the end of the season, what else do you expect?

Mmhmm. Which is the whole point of the discussion surrounding playing these players in friendlies, isn't it? Anyway, more than enough said;)

France is in the hellish group for Euro this year as they have to compete with Germany, Portugal and Hungary.
First is a big challenge already for France since they have to face Germany.
They have to win it if they want to have smooth way to the knock out stage.
Otherwise, it will be a bit harder for them to go further if they lose in the first match.

It must have been Hungary that got into the hell group, not France! Grin For France there is only one serious rival there, it's Germany... As for Portugal, I am not sure that they are in good playing form now...
