For me this is going to be a clear England victory. Let's say both teams are equally strong and have a 50/50 chance of winning. There are more factors we need to consider. The first factor that plays into the hands of England is the location. Playing in the Wembley stadium means a lot for the English team. The second factor are the fans. We have seen in the game against Denmark what the difference Fans can make. If there will be again guys with laser pointers blinding the goal keeper, Italy will be doomed.

Don't think that way. Because, this is final match. I have watched all the matches of Italy. Their gameplay is awesome. They have no chance to call this squad weak. However, I don't think the spectators will do the same thing as in the previous match. It is illegal to win the match in this way. These should not be done in the game.

I'm not a big fan of him but he's played well this tournament and surprised me. Shame he conceded as it would have been great to go all the way without letting in a goal, but I think that's more to do with England's defence rather than Pickford but he's done well when called upon. Can't really pick a clear winner for the final. I could see it going all the way to penalties. I think Italy are the better team but the bookies seem to be favouring England. Maybe they have the advantage of playing at home and in front of lots of fans which may spur them on. I'm wondering if Southgate will mix the team up a bit. I'm not sure if he has the balls to but I think Grealish has earned a starting position and I think Foden should be starting as well.

I think the performance of Italia, against Spain, from an image of Italia less strong than expected.
Hence the bettors are aiming for victory for England.

Even before the tournament started, I named England as the main candidate for victory.

Now Italy will be a very difficult opponent for England.
Although England struggled to win in the semifinal against Denmark yesterday, but the English team played quite well and neatly in attack and defense in that match and unlike what happened in the last match the Italian team played quite badly even though in the end they won, I see when the match italy vs spain, the italian players played quite badly and even they often mis-passed the ball at that time and we can see in the first half not even a single italian player kick was aimed at the goal, from that fact makes me very sure that England will won the final match, because indeed the class of England and Italian team games in this year's euros differed quite a lot and it was clear that England played better during this year euro.

^^ I would say it was a proper penalty. I understand that we are expecting major stuff in order to call it penalty because that has been what it is like in the past but these days in the past few years, maybe even in the last decade if you want to call it, there are more penalties called because we now realize that it doesn't have to be very dangerous tackle in order to get penalty, the meaning of penalty is basically giving someone punishment for doing something dangerous, by all means we all would rather have a game without any fouls neither, everyone tackling very professionally without doing anything dangerous but we all know that is impossible.

So, these years we see more penalty because defenders do act a bit more reckless and we can't just have injury risk things as penalty, we need to have dangerous moves as well so that when you give penalty players would know not to do it again. I feel like it was justified in that sense, it wasn't an easy call, but it was still a move that shouldn't have been.

It was very light but those sort of penalties are given all the time in the Premier League and they seem to have been a bit more strict in this tournament with not giving them with the exception of that one so I can see why it's controversial. I was expecting VAR to overrule it to be honest.

England only problem is their goalkeeper. That should be your frank point. And that's why I agree if they go to penalties they are more likely to lose.

England's goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is clearly going to win the Golden Gloves award at Euro 2020 after achieving the most clean sheets at the tournament with five matches in a row. I can't see how he could be a problem.

We have 2 days left for the final game. England are really lucky that they're going to play in the home stadium. Let's see whether they will manage to turn it into an advantage. Because they should be prepared really well against a team like Italy. Their job will be too hard against them.
Looking forward to this match and really hope Italy will make it .
England is and was for sure lucky the last 2 games that they have played in there home stadium , also i guess they would be not this far if they havnt played there.
Italy can beat them im sure but it will be hard for them too and i hope we see an nice and good final match of the EM.

England are playing at very high speeds. The physical form of the players is very high. I think Italy will be quite difficult in this match. They can learn from a strict play on the defensive and good luck in counter attacks. But I am more inclined towards the victory of England.

I don't know if this is possible yet or not, but what if they have the same statistics on goals scored and assists? In my opinion, the player who made this achievement in fewer matches should get an advantage, but what do the rules say about this? In fact, I hardly remember such controversial situations in the past - apparently so far such a question has simply not arisen.
Yes it has. There was one EURO or World Cup when we had three guys with same number of goals. I am thinking Villa/Muller or Klose/one more. Not sure anymore if they had some tie breaker but I remember having a big bet on Villa and waiting for decision from bookies. What is funny I don't remember if I won the bet in the end Smiley Memory hah

At the moment, the opinion of the bookmakers regarding the top scorer of the tournament looks like this:

Ronaldo 2,45
Schick   2,45
Kane     4,25
Sterling 20,70

Maybe there will be two golden boots this year? In the end, this is logical - I have not seen in any store that you can buy just one boot  Grin
Hopefully Kane doesn't disturb this puzzle.

Didn't watch it either, all the games are just way too late for me (so kind of frustrating for all these internationals halfway round the globe!).

Here in India, matches are scheduled at 12:30 am - 2:30 am. I watched the first semi-final between Spain and Italy, but then it was impossible to watch the second one between England and Denmark, since it happened the very next day. My office work starts at 9am, so I need to get up by around 7:30am-8:00 am, which is not possible if I watch these matches. Now they have scheduled the next match on Sunday, which is again a very poor decision. Ideally they should have scheduled it on Saturday.

These are the normal times for all matches.
The same happens when the games are outside Europe, the times are the same in the country where the games take place.

The final is usually on Sunday, because normally in these international competitions there is a third and fourth place game, which takes place on Saturday. It's true that at the European Football Championship this game doesn't exist. But keep the same standard calendar.

It is a bit better for you guys then. I am currently 7 hours ahead of UK time:) it sometimes gets to 8 when daylight changes (I'm not sure when that is). So imagine a 8pm game which is what most of the games started for EURO, it is 4am for me. I can still try to stay up (or wake up early) but the effects on my work the next day are very very evident  Tongue

This controversial penalty is a heavy psychological burden on the English team.  And after all, each player subconsciously guesses that the game could have ended with a completely different score.  In games of this level, the psychological state of each player is important.  And this penalty is a very bad factor affecting the psyche of the player.  So even before the game with Italy, the British have a problem.  But let's see how they handle it.  Indeed, in this sense, the Italians are superior to them in past games.  They did not have such traumatic situations for the psychological state of the players.

The biggest problem of England is Southgate. He is too observative and does not react fastly with match situation. He waits too late to make substitutions and are fearful of changes or substitutions.
This is not true, at least in my opinion. Gareth Southgate has been really good thus far in this tournament, especially in his team selection and that's the reason why England have gone this far, making it to the final, coaches do not really rush into making substitutions, as they try to observe how the game is going, if it needs a substitution yet, or if the players on the pitch can still turn the game around; Southgate is a good coach, and I'm pretty sure England as a nation will be happy to have him as their manager.

Pickford makes errors once in a while and I personally think sometimes he is over enthusiastic, but generally he is not a bad goalkeeper, and in this tournament thus far he has been good, keeping a good amount of cleansheets and helping the team when they need him, I don't think he'll be a disadvantage to England should the game to to a penalty shoot-out.

Although I think Italy has a greater ability to win the game. I believe England has enough arguments to do it too.

So I think England has a unique opportunity, after so many years without awards, to make it this year.
It has a squad capable of winning and if it uses the right strategy, it will overcome the difficulties created by the Italians.
Spain were considered worse than Italy but they controlled the match with overwhelming ball possession. England are not stronger than Italy but they have home stadium Wembley and spectators as well as referees behind. If Italy don't play smart and make too many faults around dangerous areas, England might take advantage of referee decisions and win the final.

I saw it on the news today that they have not won anything since like 50 odd years which is quite surprising when you think back and what kind of players they have had.
Yes past history, they tried to break it all. I think they have a great chance of solving that problem. Today they are in front of their own audience. They have a better mentality here. I believe that with England, if they can take the lead within 120 minutes without a penalty, then England's chances are better. It's different if it goes to penalties, I think Italy has high hopes of having a tournament title this time.

I just want to say how good that Italy VS Spain game was and I feel like I was accurate with my predictions and I made some money from it too! The Italians deserve to go through and I think they will beat England in a couple of days too. England just have not got that mentality that is needed to be winners and I do not mean winning a match I mean winning a big tournament. I saw it on the news today that they have not won anything since like 50 odd years which is quite surprising when you think back and what kind of players they have had.
