First of all congratulations to Italy for winning the Euro cup for the second time in their history. The biggest mistake was from the manager of England leaving the last penalty to a really young player.I think that he will have trouble now for the rest of his life when shooting a penalty as I think he will always remember this fail in the final.I can say that Italy deserved it more because had to fight against stronger teams like Belgium and Spain while England the only strong team they faced were Germany but Germany was really weak during this Euro cup.

Yes, you are right. We have to say that Italy plays with stronger countries in the matches. Spain and Belgium were among the favorite teams of this cup and Italy managed to eliminate these two teams. They deserved this trophy more than England. Young goalkeeper Donnaruma received the tournament player award.

Would Italy have won against Denmark? I think it would have been more difficult against Denmark than against England. Denmark would certainly have shot more on goal than England did yesterday.  Wink

This is the most unrealistic and never ending discussion.  Next you will think what if Italy would have played the final against Spain or France  and what could be the result. Denmark lost against England in the semi-final, therefore if Italy could beat England, they could beat denmark too.

He's just guessing  Cheesy Cheesy If it really makes you curious, we can try it on PS5, right?   Cheesy after all Denmark is doing its best and people can see it they deserve appreciation
And of course the best Italy came out as champion, we can see their performance since the beginning of the group stage.

Yep, it was a mistake to give so much space to the Italians. I read somewhere that Kane didn't have a single touch on the ball in the Italy's box and that he failed to have a shot on goal only the 2nd time in his international career.

It was not just Kane though, all England's attacking players had a really bad game yesterday. Sometimes it's hard to get back into the offensive groove if you defend too long, and England did that after an early goal. When they conceded, they simply could not jump into an offensive rhythm again.
I blame Southgate for that. You have guys like Rashford and Sancho on the bench. You can give them at least 2nd extra time to stretch the legs for sure. I was waiting for them to come on and rain hell on tired Italy defense but never happened. If nothing else I am sure they would have had more belief when taking penalties. There is nothing worse in football then taking penalty after not playing, at least for me, and my games did not have much of a stress factor.

Yup..  We exactly have the same thoughts.  But to Southgate’s credit, he did say in one interview that it was on him.  But still, the damage is done.  Poor Saka.  I feel for him the most.  He’s too young to be placed in a tough spot like that.

Anyway been hearing some news swirling around of racial abuse cos those poor guys missed their pens.  That’s just sad.
England scored the goal in the second minute, and was completely absent until the penalty shootoutcame in, to the extent that Kane did not touch the ball inside the Italian penalty area for 120 minutes!
Southgate made some mistakes that made his team's mission difficult, and made the Italians take control of the game, far from resolving the final by penalty shootout.
And making the subs a minute before the Penaly Shootout didn't go for his favore he should tried to score in extra time  as his opponent had better experience when it comes to penalties.

England reached the final knowing they were gonna play in Wembley. They had a great start, finding a goal in two minutes and what do they do? They start defending with the whole 11 players!
That was so stupid. Italy suffered 15 minuntes but then found the right way to attack ending with a crazy > 70% ball possession!
Italy deserved the Cup, no doubts but this England lost a once in a lifetime opportunity considering they played Euro2020 basically at home.
I wouldn't say it was a "stupid" move but that is not a great one neither, I would say it was a mediocre strategy. England is known for their hard defense, and so does Italy as well, if England moved their strategy from defense to offense and got stuck against Italian defenses and get a counter attack the result could have been a lot different, which Italy uses a ton, they use players who are very very fast and so they defend hard and then counter attack with fast players, England couldn't respond to that, scoring in the first 2 minutes was the luckiest thing they could have hoped for.

This is why I believe the strategy wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't horrible neither, the worst I can say was "subpar". The real horrible part came when Southgate changed 3 players all of whom missed penalties, that is just unheard of, you normally get good penalty takers if you are making a change and that means all the three players who were assumed to be good penalty takers all missed back to back.

I share your sentiment for Saka, sometimes it is best to give penalties to guys who will not overthink it or they simply don't care. I always remember Balotelli in situations like this. You can just see on him that he doesn't care and that is why pressure is not a big factor for him.

Not even gonna comment those idiots that resorted to racial abuse. They should make a party for the team that is second in the Europe and celebrate them and instead they resort to abuse. That is why most of the world was on Italy side last night. Nobody is a fan of that "English arrogance", there are plenty of teams with better results in competitions and none of them think they are top of the world like English guys.

Ronaldo was recognized as the top scorer of the tournament and this was quite expected, Schick was in second place and he lost only in additional indicators.
I was very surprised that the Italian goalkeeper was recognized as the best player of the tournament, undoubtedly he showed great games, but traditionally the title of the best player in the tournament going to the player of the team that took the second place.
Ouep but he deserved to be the best player of the tournament because he is Wink
When they said his name, he wasn't expecting it and his teammate informed him they said your name.
Now after the end of the EURO and Copa America, I feel emptiness. There is few CL qualifications games coming, otherwise waiting for the next month for the restart of major leagues...

Gianluigi Donnarumma is a great player and very easy going with a pretty good build for a goalkeeper so I think he deserves to be the best player in the tournament, having made a lot of saves against Italy to win the EURO 2020 champions.

Now he has been the target of a lot of top clubs last saw the news PSG wanted to think about him and I don't know about his certainty yet it's great.

Italy have been a great team in the final after falling by 1 goal and in the end it was avenged, the point is it was a dramatic match with a final.

Don't forget the bet I got. LOL

I saw Ronaldo's ambition from the start that he deserved it despite failing to take his country to the final, while the Italian goalkeeper is a very important player for Italy
the main factor is he becomes a savior in a critical situation because his brilliant performance can bring Italy to the title, some of Italy's victories were decided on penalties.

The first and last shots in first five rounds in penalty are most pressure so it is unbelievable how the whole England team decided to give it to Saka.

Even an expert in penalty like Jorginho felt pressure and changed his technique and failed in his shot. Saka is a victim of some reasons I don't know. When England prepared for penalty, I see Grealish looks to be very confident and I guess he would have one round in first five shoot-outs.

I have to say it was a mistake from Southgate. He sent Rashford and Sancho in the last minute of the extra time just for the Penalty Shoot-outs but both failed to do their job well. The idea is good to get fresh players to take penalty but some time the spirit is not warmed up enough to give the best shoot for the team.

I do not really understand too why Southgate did not use Grealish from the start or at least from the 2nd half. He was able to do something great to break the Italy's defense after he came in. In overall, most of England players were not on their best performance including Kane and Sterling. It seems that they were on a very hard pressure to win the game because their fans are so hungry to see England win a Major title.

Massive congrats for Italy as they really fought hard to get this trophy and lets not forget that they've played most of their games on away pitch. I also have all my respect for England squad as they were my favorites and I don't blame anyone for the loss but some players should've stepped in front of the young players and take that penalty kick.
Unlike the case with most England fanatics fans because they will continue to blame players who fail to maximize the opportunities that have been given by the coach to take a penalty kick. Marcus Rashford, Saka, Sancho seem to be specially groomed by the coach to take the penalty kicks but I think Sterling and Shaw are much better than the last two names. Italy really did their job to perfection after a few games that almost brought him home. Not much different against Spain, the penalty became the deciding factor for Italy to win.

After I saw what England fans were doing after final, I'm even more happy that Italy won final. Their fans is one of main reasons why England get so much hate. These retards attacked Italy fans after final:
https://twitter.com/melvinnasasira/status/1414364972566601731?
Many idiots started posting racial slurs on Instagram profiles of players who missed penalties. Disgraceful.
Their fans and hooligans have bad reputation. I don't know how it happens because Italy is a more complicated nation but even ultra groups in Italy usually don't bring violent troubles like England hooligans.

They should appreciate what England players did in the tournament. Players run and fight and fans only watch, enjoy matches.

And don't show this video to CR7 - Bonucci after final in press conference drinks both Coca Cola and Heineken  Grin Grin

He is over happy. Ronaldo will not like this conference and the drink Bounnuci took.

In the press conference I see Mancini laughed a lot and he was very happy. His reaction is unbelievable when Bonucci was receiving the question from an interviewer about what Bonucci said "It's coming to Rome" in front of camera.

I don't think the video shows what you are trying to say. As far as I have seen from other sources, it was about the people who tried to get into the stadium without tickets. The scene happened before kickoff, so it has nothing to do with disappointed England fans.
One should always be very skeptical of such videos if one does not know exactly from which source they come.

Exactly, Southgate could have subbed them in for atleast the last 5 minutes. Let them warm up on the pitch for few minutes instead of asking them to take the penalty after being subbed in. Those two are considered as top class players, they could have done a thing or two instead of just being a penalty takers then ended up failing to score.

Anyway Manchester United did the same thing on Europa League by subbing in Mata and Telles on the last minutes, both ended up as the 1st and 2nd penalty taker but it worked out for both of them

It was for me as well a surprise that Southgate chooses Saka for taking the last penalty. Too much pressure for the youngster and IMO, without any reason. There are other players that can take it, I couldn't agree more with you.

There is no way to tell that it was going to be the last penalty though. The order was decided before both Rashford and Sancho failed so it puts up alot more pressure for Saka but if you look at the other POV, Donnarumma was the reason that Saka failed. This guy is a genius when it comes to penalty, just look at his reaction after he stopped that penalty. It was like he knew that he would stop the last penalty

Unfortunately England did not live up to my hopes. After the Italy goal, the team got scared and eventually lost. Too much pressure on the players and it broke them. The England coach's mistakes with the choice of players to shoot the penalty will be debated for a long time, but England has a chance to prove themselves in the next championships. They have a young and capable team.
