Friendly games do not really look like it would be something that could indicate how teams are going to play during the other times, I feel like we should just consider how things will turn out differently. I am not saying that we are going to see teams make a big difference or anything like that, I am just saying that we should not base how teams will do just from the friendly games at all.

I believe that France and England do have a proper chance to make it work, and I think they are going to end up with something that will change some things if given enough chance. These two teams just have way too much power and talent, it would be very unlikely for any other team to end up winning the cup, I do not see a third team even close to them.

Montella will be played as a backup to Arda Güler. Ancelotti preferred Arda the same way. Arda is an important young talent. At the same time, substitutes Ferdi Kadıoğlu are also waiting. Its kinda hard to count Budimir as a younger player since he is 32 yo. While our young players are actually pretty good, one position worries me and that's the forward one as we basically don't have anyone younger on the horizon that can play as nr 9. I hoped that Roko Simic could maybe be the one, but he is kinda stagnating at the moment.


Dunno, in that regard my experience has been quite the opposite. I travel a lot and every time people hear that I am from Croatia they start talking about football and how amazing our national team is, praising Modric etc. People like underdogs and due our size that's how people usually perceive us, no matter our recent success.

You can't really count on the table these friendly matches. As there is no pressure to win, these athletes have no eagerness to put their best foot forward on their game. It is like a warm-up for these athletes and enjoy the game without so much pressure.

Friendly matches seem to be a final preparation condition for several ways that can indeed be used to trick opponents considering the Euro is only a matter of days away from starting.

Some friendly matches are only as their relaxant and as a final preparation before finally really exerting their strength in the Euro later so it is quite natural that they hold back a little so that the opponent will not know their plans in preparation for the euro this time.

I also don’t think that the friendlies are among the official matches, because it doesn’t have fifa or confederations backing, it is usually fixed between the federations of the both countries involved, just like the club friendlies that’s why the bonuses generated from this matches are mostly given out to foundations or split base on the agreed proportion. It’s part of the reason why you see even nations taking on club sides for friendlies. I could remember in the past rules that if a player actually plays only friendlies for a nations he is allowed to switch to another nation that he his qualified to, meaning that the friendlies are not counted as an official match; although this law has been updated too.

But I don’t agree with Distraction that UEFA Nation League cup are not official games, it’s just as the Euros because it is a continental approved tournament and Carries almost similar weight has the Euros. Although I don’t actually understand the competition and see it as been unnecessary.


I will say many football fans actually have been disrespecting Croatia for far too long, every tournament you see fans actually rating Croatia way too low and rating countries like England way ahead but I get it, it’s the media hype thing. If you ask me for over decade now Croatia has been in the top 3 best European countries in every competitions they have participated in. There golden generations might been ageing but they can still boss any football match now. As for the younger generations they are also coming to the ranks too. If you ask me Croatia will once again in this competition go far beyond some fan’s predictions

Mandjukic and Rakitic did not play in Qatar, not even in the Nations League final, and as for the others you listed, Perisic was injured for a long time so he is not in the best shape, while Modric, despite his years, is still one of the best midfielders in the world and will play another season in Real Madrid.

In the past 25 years, a small country has even won medals at the world championships three times, and I know that this bothers many people because they think that it should be reserved for teams like England or Italy, the same ones who cannot beat Iceland or Turkey or they struggle with teams that cannot find themselves on the FIFA ranking.

Germany have not done well in recent tournaments. They are not the old Germany. But they will host this tournament. This will be a great motivation for them, no doubt. Also, they beat France and the Netherlands in friendly matches. I think these matches were important for them. I don't expect any surprises in this match. Germany will start the tournament with a win. Because if they don't win this match, they can continue to have bad results throughout the tournament. I think they have to win in the first match. On the other hand, I don't think Scotland are a team that can challenge Germany.

My reasoning was club friendlies in fact. Just as it says below also, I only knew about club friendlies' not being counted as official matches. So I thought it would be the same with national friendlies too. But it looks like I was mistaken.    Thanks to our discussion I have learned the truth.

There are only 4 days left for the opening match: Germany - Scotland.    The odds I can see on TrustDice: Germany: 1.26  Draw: 5.60  Scotland: 11.00

1.26 is just too low to bet on but I might use it on a multi. I don't expect Germany to lose points here, what do you guys think?

Well, I didn't watch the live game, but I think Croatia performed better than Portugal in this game. Croatia won the game 2:1 over Portugal, they had 7 shots on goal, while Portugal had 4 shots on goal. According to H2H Croatia has not beaten Portugal in their five previous meetings, so I think most of us would be surprised that Croatia won in their last game.


Italy will not go far in the EURO 2024 with their current performance, they must improve in their games to advance in this tournament. Italy is in a tough group, they can compete with Albania, but not with Spain or Croatia, which can be seen by their performance in friendly games. Italy drew their first friendly game against Türkiye with only 2 shots on target, I wasn't expecting this poor performance from Italy, who have the strength to defeat Türkiye. In their last friendly game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, they managed to score 1 goal out of 17 shots. This is the same Bosnia and Herzegovina that England defeated 3:0 in their last two games, with 25 shots. Spalleti needs to improve his players ahead of their next tournament games.

Like Copa America it is easy to predict which team will win or which team will do well but in Euro usually no prediction can be done in advance because most of the teams are strong here. Copa America Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, these teams are tough opponents than other teams, but in Euro, every team including England, France, Spain, Germany is strong, so the competition is always more difficult in Euro tournaments. England's performance may not be very good recently but with the squad they have, they can definitely do well in the Euro tournament. France have several star players and their team is well balanced so we can expect good things from their team as well.

Considering how other friendly games are going (England - Iceland, France - Canada, etc.) I would say that this is another confirmation that they don’t really mean anything and are just a form of training. yesterday's friendly match against italy left good hopes in view of the qualifying round, in my opinion they would have deserved a few more goals considering the fact that they made a lot of shots on goal and their goalkeeper made some monstrous interventions but it's still a excellent test against Albania we will have to suffer but we have a good chance of getting through let's remember that we are the reigning champions and that we have great players regarding frattesi's goal a big plate in the corner nice goal

Croatia national football team played very well and they won the match easily. Their players were looking in good body language and they practiced very well and they passes decently and their shorts were mostly on target . Especially Budimir who changed the game and bent the game to their side and his goal was a tuning point of match. Croatia players are hard working players and their future is bright. In the next match ,we will see in the good phase and they have capacity to win the match against any team. Croatia shots were 16 from which 7 were on target. And the passes of Croatia team were 442 and they won the match due to great combination. Portugal team passes were more in number but they lose the match due to lack of good strategy. Their moral was not high . They should work on this.
