Friendly games do not really look like it would be something that could indicate how teams are going to play during the other times, I feel like we should just consider how things will turn out differently. I am not saying that we are going to see teams make a big difference or anything like that, I am just saying that we should not base how teams will do just from the friendly games at all.

I believe that France and England do have a proper chance to make it work, and I think they are going to end up with something that will change some things if given enough chance. These two teams just have way too much power and talent, it would be very unlikely for any other team to end up winning the cup, I do not see a third team even close to them.

In a short while, the friendly matches between Poland and Turkey, as well as the Netherlands and Iceland, will kick off. I’ll personally choose to watch the Poland-Turkey match, but I believe the Netherlands-Iceland match will also be quite enjoyable. These are the last two friendly matches before Euro 2024. There won’t be any more friendlies, and the tournament begins in just four days.

Poland's starting XI against Turkey: Szczesny, Bednarek, Dawidowicz, Kiwior, Frankowski, Slisz, Zielinski, Piotrowski, Zalewski - Swiderski, Lewandowski.
Turkey's starting XI against Poland: Mert Günok, Mert Müldür, Samet, Abdülkerim, Kaan, Salih, Hakan, Orkun, İrfan Can, Kerem, Semih.
Montella will be played as a backup to Arda Güler. Ancelotti preferred Arda the same way. Arda is an important young talent. At the same time, substitutes Ferdi Kadıoğlu are also waiting. Semih Kılıçsoy, who will be on the field today in the main squad, is one of the players that Turkey expects the most, along with Arda Güler and Kenan Yıldız. I will especially look at how he will play. He had a great season in Beşiktaş.

Germany have not done well in recent tournaments. They are not the old Germany. But they will host this tournament. This will be a great motivation for them, no doubt. Also, they beat France and the Netherlands in friendly matches. I think these matches were important for them. I don't expect any surprises in this match. Germany will start the tournament with a win. Because if they don't win this match, they can continue to have bad results throughout the tournament. I think they have to win in the first match. On the other hand, I don't think Scotland are a team that can challenge Germany.
Germany without doubt haven't been impressive in the recent major tournaments they've participated in but this time around, they're going to be the host for the UEFA Euros Championship so many people especially the Germans are counting on the national team to deliver a great performance in the competition. Their first game of the tournament will also serve as the kickoff game of the tournament because of the fact that they're the host nation and the game will be against  Scotland.
On paper, Germany are expected to thrash Scotland because of their superior number of quality players but if for any reason they underrate Scotland, they might face humiliation in their first game of the tournament and that i don't think Julian Nagelsmann will want to see happen. Germany in my own opinion will at least reach the quarter finals but I don't think they're the favorites to win the competition despite being the host nation. France and England o think stands a better chance of reaching the final ahead of Germany. Another country that I think will have a good tournament is the Netherlands.
However, Germany is still taken into account by other favorite teams, apart from acting as hosts, Germany also still has a number of quality players who support the depth of their squad. France and England deserve to be favorites, considering that they have the best generation in their squad at the moment, but we cannot just ignore the bargaining value of teams like Italy, Portugal, Spain and Croatia. I think the Euro 2024 event will be very interesting, and very emotional for several national teams, considering that most of them will probably retire from the national team after the competition ends.

Ronaldo, Kroos, Kante, Modric, maybe some of the players we won't see again in the next competition, they might not even is at to the 2026 World Cup. Automatically, this will attract the attention of many people, to see the actions of the best players in Europe for the last time at national team level. Apart from that, it also does not rule out the possibility of a surprise team appearing this time, at club level we have seen it quite often this season. This will also be a good stage for young players, they will get the spotlight if they succeed in showing their best game.

I also don’t think that the friendlies are among the official matches, because it doesn’t have fifa or confederations backing
Your opinion is irrelevant as its a matter of fact that friendly games count as official matches and regarding "not having FIFA backing", FIFA counts them for their ranking so there's that.

When you say that the younger players are not up to the task, have you heard of Gvardiol or maybe of Budimir, who is in the top 5 scorers of the Spanish league?
Its kinda hard to count Budimir as a younger player since he is 32 yo. While our young players are actually pretty good, one position worries me and that's the forward one as we basically don't have anyone younger on the horizon that can play as nr 9. I hoped that Roko Simic could maybe be the one, but he is kinda stagnating at the moment.

Some been saying that since 2018, or even since 1998 - but somehow you're always wrong, aren't you? In the past 25 years, a small country has even won medals at the world championships three times, and I know that this bothers many people because they think that it should be reserved for teams like England or Italy, the same ones who cannot beat Iceland or Turkey or they struggle with teams that cannot find themselves on the FIFA ranking.
Dunno, in that regard my experience has been quite the opposite. I travel a lot and every time people hear that I am from Croatia they start talking about football and how amazing our national team is, praising Modric etc. People like underdogs and due our size that's how people usually perceive us, no matter our recent success.

Germany which acts as the host of this year's euro of course gets the advantage as a team that automatically qualifies for the euro, so indeed they do not need to undergo a qualifying match which does have a lot of risks, currently of course Germany has a much better combination of players in my opinion than the previous euro, the majority of the German squad this season is filled with young players who have quite good talent and stamina, So with the support of experience from several senior players, of course, Germany will probably be able to do more later, the squad changes made by Nagelzman so far have had a quite positive impact in facing a strong team in friendly matches.

Germany vs Scotland will be the opening match of this year's euro, so Germany must of course be able to get a victory in the first match remembering the victory will of course increase their confidence to face the next match, Germany of course will have a huge burden in that the match, apart from being their the first match, of course Germany is required to be able to bring glory in this year euro to be able to win at their own home,  But even so, of course Scotland will give a fierce resistance considering that they want also go far in this year Euro even though their status is not as a favorite team.

In a pre-tournament friendly match, France, one of the strongest squads in the tournament and a favorite, faced Canada. The match ended in a 0-0 draw. Olivier Giroud has had an illustrious career and as Olivier Giroud prepares to retire from international football after Euro 2024, he shed tears as he left the pitch.

He is soon to be the oldest player to wear Les Bleus jersey so I kinda feel the emotions he was going thru here. He has a colourful career breaking a lot of records, so definitely, he will be missing this sports badly as he finally say goodbye from this arena.

Friendly matches seem to be a final preparation condition for several ways that can indeed be used to trick opponents considering the Euro is only a matter of days away from starting.

Some friendly matches are only as their relaxant and as a final preparation before finally really exerting their strength in the Euro later so it is quite natural that they hold back a little so that the opponent will not know their plans in preparation for the euro this time.

Statistically, some big teams still dominate to have a strong probability of winning but on the other hand we also still have to continue to wait for how the continuation will happen later because for now we cannot make it seem as if one club can easily be in the final especially seeing some young players in the national team at this time there are some who are quite prominent but we cannot know for sure whether it will match expectations or not.

You can't really count on the table these friendly matches. As there is no pressure to win, these athletes have no eagerness to put their best foot forward on their game. It is like a warm-up for these athletes and enjoy the game without so much pressure.

1.26 is just too low to bet on but I might use it on a multi. I don't expect Germany to lose points here, what do you guys think?

Truthfully I don't think friendly matches are called "official matches".
Of course they are official matches as Fifa counts them for ranking and players count caps and goals. They are of course not as importanat as WC/Continental championships but they are very much official so I just don't understand from where you get your reasoning other than ignorance.

I also don’t think that the friendlies are among the official matches, because it doesn’t have fifa or confederations backing, it is usually fixed between the federations of the both countries involved, just like the club friendlies that’s why the bonuses generated from this matches are mostly given out to foundations or split base on the agreed proportion. It’s part of the reason why you see even nations taking on club sides for friendlies. I could remember in the past rules that if a player actually plays only friendlies for a nations he is allowed to switch to another nation that he his qualified to, meaning that the friendlies are not counted as an official match; although this law has been updated too.

But I don’t agree with Distraction that UEFA Nation League cup are not official games, it’s just as the Euros because it is a continental approved tournament and Carries almost similar weight has the Euros. Although I don’t actually understand the competition and see it as been unnecessary.

Some been saying that since 2018, or even since 1998 - but somehow you're always wrong, aren't you? I will say many football fans actually have been disrespecting Croatia for far too long, every tournament you see fans actually rating Croatia way too low and rating countries like England way ahead but I get it, it’s the media hype thing. If you ask me for over decade now Croatia has been in the top 3 best European countries in every competitions they have participated in. There golden generations might been ageing but they can still boss any football match now. As for the younger generations they are also coming to the ranks too. If you ask me Croatia will once again in this competition go far beyond some fan’s predictions

This is an interesting group as Croatia made big surprise in latest World Cups and Euros but this Euro tournament can be different for Croatia. Their golden generation comes to their career endings while their next generation of players is not good enough. I really feel doubtful about young players of Croatian team can carry heavy tasks left by old players like Mandzukic, Moddric, Rakitic, Perisic, Brozovic and Kovacic.

Mandjukic and Rakitic did not play in Qatar, not even in the Nations League final, and as for the others you listed, Perisic was injured for a long time so he is not in the best shape, while Modric, despite his years, is still one of the best midfielders in the world and will play another season in Real Madrid.

When you say that the younger players are not up to the task, have you heard of Gvardiol or maybe of Budimir, who is in the top 5 scorers of the Spanish league? There are still good players, but obviously for some, a good player is only one who plays in the top 5 clubs from the top five leagues.

It makes sense to wait for another surprising tournament from Croatia but I am keen on their failure in this Euro.

My reasoning was club friendlies in fact. Just as it says below also, I only knew about club friendlies' not being counted as official matches. So I thought it would be the same with national friendlies too. But it looks like I was mistaken.  Tongue  Thanks to our discussion I have learned the truth.  Smiley

It’s very close to the start of Euro 2024, and teams are playing their last friendly matches before the tournament. Tonight, there was a friendly match between Portugal and Croatia, two important contenders for the cup. Croatia beat a 2-1 victory. Luka Modric scored from the penalty spot in the 8th minute, and Ante Budimir added another goal in the 56th minute. Portugal’s lone goal came from Diogo Jota.

Well, I didn't watch the live game, but I think Croatia performed better than Portugal in this game. Croatia won the game 2:1 over Portugal, they had 7 shots on goal, while Portugal had 4 shots on goal. According to H2H Croatia has not beaten Portugal in their five previous meetings, so I think most of us would be surprised that Croatia won in their last game.

The last title Italy played a friendly match against Bosnia-Herzegovina ahead of the tournament. With Davide Frattesi scoring in the 38th minute, Italy won 1-0. In EURO 2024, Italy will be in Group B alongside Spain, Croatia, and Albania, while Bosnia-Herzegovina won’t be competing in EURO24. A few days ago, Italy also played a friendly match against Turkey, resulting in a 0-0 draw.

Italy will not go far in the EURO 2024 with their current performance, they must improve in their games to advance in this tournament. Italy is in a tough group, they can compete with Albania, but not with Spain or Croatia, which can be seen by their performance in friendly games. Italy drew their first friendly game against Türkiye with only 2 shots on target, I wasn't expecting this poor performance from Italy, who have the strength to defeat Türkiye. In their last friendly game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, they managed to score 1 goal out of 17 shots. This is the same Bosnia and Herzegovina that England defeated 3:0 in their last two games, with 25 shots. Spalleti needs to improve his players ahead of their next tournament games.

I think it's time to make a quick prediction guys , right ? I will start this one.
1st. England ( going with England because in theory they have the best team and also they are a finalist from previous Euro and that should give them a pretty great boost )
2nd. Spain ( I can never count out tiki-taka Spain from actually reaching a final but if they do , I don't see them winning this time )
3rd. France ( this team in theory should win but after losing world cup final , can they regroup to give us another legendary run towards final ? I doubt it ).
4th. Italy ( because they are the actually winners from previous euro and the experience of this team is massive and you can never count them off )
Disappointments? I think Germany and Croatia will not even reach quarter-finals...but this are just my assumptions. Same can be said for Belgium who are kinda losing that golden team they had on previous years  Grin

The friendlies are not a measure, but I don't like England and France's recent form. Unlike the World Cup, in this type of tournament there can be surprises. I think this tournament will be like that.
England are the favorites but it's obvious that they have never won a major tournament. They start every tournament thinking that this time it will happen and then they get disappointed again. I like Spain, we can say they are a tournament type team instead of a league type team. I think they have a serious chance. France can advance but I don't think they will win, they have hard times scoring against good teams. I'm not sure what will happen with Germany, I wouldn't be surprised if they are eliminated early like you said, or if they reach the final. I think at least one surprise team will be in the semi finals though.
Like Copa America it is easy to predict which team will win or which team will do well but in Euro usually no prediction can be done in advance because most of the teams are strong here. Copa America Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, these teams are tough opponents than other teams, but in Euro, every team including England, France, Spain, Germany is strong, so the competition is always more difficult in Euro tournaments. England's performance may not be very good recently but with the squad they have, they can definitely do well in the Euro tournament. France have several star players and their team is well balanced so we can expect good things from their team as well.

yesterday's friendly match against italy left good hopes in view of the qualifying round, in my opinion they would have deserved a few more goals considering the fact that they made a lot of shots on goal and their goalkeeper made some monstrous interventions but it's still a excellent test against Albania we will have to suffer but we have a good chance of getting through let's remember that we are the reigning champions and that we have great players regarding frattesi's goal a big plate in the corner nice goal

Considering how other friendly games are going (England - Iceland, France - Canada, etc.) I would say that this is another confirmation that they don’t really mean anything and are just a form of training. Italy played well yesterday and deserved a bigger win, but virtually any result wouldn't tell us much about the team's prospects. We need to at least see how the teams perform in the group stage (which will also largely be friendly).

Croatia national football team played very well and they won the match easily. Their players were looking in good body language and they practiced very well and they passes decently and their shorts were mostly on target . Especially Budimir who changed the game and bent the game to their side and his goal was a tuning point of match. Croatia players are hard working players and their future is bright. In the next match ,we will see in the good phase and they have capacity to win the match against any team. Croatia shots were 16 from which 7 were on target. And the passes of Croatia team were 442 and they won the match due to great combination. Portugal team passes were more in number but they lose the match due to lack of good strategy. Their moral was not high . They should work on this.
Croatia played the preparatory matches before EURO 2024 more than confidently. I know that Portugal has always been a strong team and will be among the favorites, but we must not forget that Croatia also always achieves quite good results. I see that Croatia has improved its game, because at the group stage they did not look so good, and there is no need to worry too much about the fact, that Portugal lost this match, they are strong enough to draw conclusions and perhaps not let this happen again.
