England has many high quality players, but they have had problems when choosing coaches, in my opinion I don't see England being able to win this Euro, they will be able to pass the group stage because they were lucky to be in a group that has weak teams , but when they move on to another stage and encounter strong teams, they will lose and be eliminated. I don't understand why the coach chose not to take Jack Grealish, but we'll see if the coach really made a good choice in choosing this squad or if he made a bad choice in choosing this squad. If England's performance in this Euro is a failure, the coach will receive a lot of criticism
In my opinion the coach made a bad decision, he only succeeded in assembling inexperienced players who has never been tested in a major tournament. Look at the players like Cole Palmer, Watkins, Kobie Mainoo and others who made the squad list. See at some point experience is what is needed to go through at the big stage. England won't have any chance when they meet teams like France and Germany Portugal included and Netherlands. Southgate be acting like he is a master of the game but he has nothing in his head, I hope England get rid of him after this tournament. Of England had a good coach they would have won a trophy since Southgate took over. You can't tell that Super Jack doesn't meet the criteria to be selected, he is a top player and he play good football and the fans love him so what's the problem with Southgate now.

yesterday there were friendly games and I decided to add some friendly games to my multibet bet, as they were games it was easy to predict the result, so I didn't see a problem with adding a lot of games, especially because the odds were very low, but man, when I woke up today and I went to see my bet, I was really shocked by this:

 Shocked Shocked Shocked

They lost against Iceland, I know it was a friendly game and that in most friendly games the coaches choose not to put the best players on the field, but in these friendlies most coaches are playing with their best players and England also put their best players on the field, but England still failed to score a goal and lost the game. which shocked me because even the low odds value in favor of England made me think that England would hardly lose in this game. As I already said in my last post: I highly doubt that England will be able to beat this euro. see that in the last 5 games in which England played against Iceland, this is the first time that they failed to score 1 goal

source: https://livescores.biz/h2h/england-vs-

I don't think this defeat is a good sign and mainly due to the fact that they weren't able to score at least 1 goal. I lost my bet, normally I don't bet on games with very low odds, but yesterday I thought: "as there's no longer premier league, La Liga, a bundesliga and there's still a bit to go before the euro, so I'm going to bet on these friendly games and the game from my country's national team", the total odds were @2.40 and I was convinced that it would be an easy victory, and today I wake up to see the result of the England game and I am faced with this defeat. very disappointing

England national team have good and quality players but to say they are all elite players, I really don't agree with you on this. They only have some elite players in chosen players for Euro 2024 but many other players are only at good quality, star players and some are even average or a little above average quality. Why Southgate picked those players is big secret and only he knew why he made those surprising decisions that can affect the team performances in this Euro.
Southgate has announced the 26 players he will bring to Germany to compete in the euro later, the decision taken by Southgate in determining the squad is of course correct and I think in this case we don't know any better than Southgate, indeed at the moment there are some important players that Southgate has thrown out of the England national team and the most controversial is the expulsion of Jack Grealish from the England national team this season,  Jack Grealish is a player who helped Manchester City win the Premier League this season but if we pay attention if this season Jack Grealish does have statistics that are not better than other players, so it Is natural that Jack Grealish does not get a place in the current England national team squad even though he often makes a lot of difference when coming off the bench so far.

Southgate has been a coach who has often caused controversy in player selection, but I think he has a strong reason for the selection and the proof is that he was able to take England to the final of Euro 2020 even though previously he was also filled with controversy, currently the England squad is filled with new players and only part of the England national team has considerable experience playing in international matches, So I think the combination of the England squad this season will certainly bring a balance of experience and new energy into the team and of course can have a positive effect later.

Do you think, whom are those "average or a little above average quality" players? just because they're not joining in top teams or popular, it doesn't mean they're low quality players.

Rashford, Maddison, Sterling, Sancho, Chilwell, James, Ben White, and Grealish are big players, but their performance aren't excellent in this season and there are better players that playing in the same position like them.

Example, attacking midfielder, although Maddison played well for Tottenham, but Bellingham and Gallagher way better than him.

Friendlies results should be taken carefully and it does not tell the truth all the time even though a defeat against Iceland is still hard to swallow by England followers.
I find England performance dropping over the years, yet I believe they will play advanced stages in this competition. There is definitely mistakes done and hopefully Southgate will fix it. I think he swapped the position of these players intentionally to see what he could get?
Friendly matches before a big tournament are last chances for national team coaches to assess many things from tactics to players and make proper adjustments before the tournament kick-off. Friendly matches before big tournaments are more important than friend matches at different times.

Bad results from friendly matches shortly before a World Cup or Euro are not good signals and with a latest bad result, England team will probably have big problems in Euro 2024. We even can guess their issues from players chosen by Southgate days ago.

The England national team comprises of elite players but they're just overhyped because all these players plays for elite clubs. England coach, Gareth Southgate selection should be reconsider because telling me England record defeat against Iceland is absurd. For goodness sake, England have all the squad accessible and available to win mediocre countries but they've failed woefully and this should be a lesson to them, they're not ready for the Euros because the coach still have to work on his lineup especially his starting XI.

Then we had England who lost against Iceland ? For real ? Iceland doesn't have a solid team anymore so I really don't understand how they lost this one because the first 11 players were all stars and most likely will all play at Euro.

As much as I would like to say "it's just a friendly", I can't because this is how England behaves. Whenever there is so much optimism within them, they fumble. That is part of the reason I wouldn't pick them if I were to pick a team to win the Euro.
I am not reading much into this loss though, but I believe it should be a wake-up call for England to realise that they're not invincible.

BTC, a coin of today and tomorrow.

About Southgate, I just believe he is pulling this team down. For many years he couldn't achieve a single title with such great squads. Isn't it time for England to look for a better manager already? I guess they would if he fails in Euro 2024.

Never in defense of Southgate but we all saying he is been drawing the team back to me is even laughable what exactly has England in the past won, they ultimately had a golden generation from the 2000s to now and they didn’t achieved anything, the likes Paul Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, John Terry, Rooney and all the superstars couldn’t win anything. If you ask me southgate is right up there with best mangers they have had, been to a semi final of the World Cup, finals of the euros and I think he will go far again this time around. I disagree a lot with his decision making but to me the English media needs to lower their expectations and hype a little bit and maybe they will reduce the pressure on him and the players.
Thank you very much for trying to see things differently. When I come online and see what people write about England and Southgate it makes me wonder what day think of England and what the reality is. We have seen England in so many finals under the management of Southgate, but it is quite unfortunate that no one counts that as success if you do not win the trophy. This about to start euro 2024, people have started predicting that England and Southgate will exit at the round of 16. But surprisingly to them all, they will still see England in the finals or semi-finals of the euro 2024 and yet they will not count that as a success. Let us be hopeful that one day Southgate will disappoint them and win one major trophy for England and all this disrespect for the English team will stop.

Also, I think Southgate got a few things wrong. He played Foden behind the striker and Palmer on the wing. I am not a coach, but I know that Foden excels most when he plays from the wing and Palmer excels most when he plays behind the striker. So their positions should be swapped. If he doesn't do that, his attack might not be that effective.

I might have a misguided perception of the tournament, but it seems like there are no high expectations from people, as many top players are retiring and there are few notable coaches to bring surprises. Football isn't what it used to be, but I expect to see Portugal or Germany in the finals. I'm baffled by Gareth Southgate's decision to leave many top players behind. If he doesn't make it to the final, he might face criticism that could cost him his job

Yes the tournament is definitely unpredictable not just for anything but for the fact that the nations have almost an equally balanced squad. In the past their two or three standout squads with great players but right nor they we like 7 nations who can go on and win the title. Another is that this tournament is more like a transitional tournament for the nations, most nations have old players stepping out with the future prospects stepping in to fill the void.

SouthGate is definitely leaving his role as the Three lions manager if he gets results of anything less than the title. But to me I don’t quite blame his selection this time around, most of the senior players missed out due to fitness issues and some to form dips. My only notable omissions were Braithwate and Trafford who both were terrific with their clubs but they have a long time to make up history though

I agree with people who think Southgate shouldn't be England coach anymore if he fails in winning Euro 2024 as well.  Sad  So many years have been left behind but England have 0 title achieved. They have always had such an impressive squad in the meantime. But they just can't make it anyway. Unlike people who think Southgate is actually good, I think the opposite as a result.

If you still can't win any title with such a team in nearly 10 years then you still have a long way to go to be called as a good coach.

Even with the advent of the League of Nations, there are very few titles in football at the level of national teams for everyone who deserves to have some kind of achievement. It is clear that a lot is expected from England (especially now that they are the favorites), but in such tournaments the randomness is very large (+ there are worthy competitors) so I would not blame the coach if England does not take first place.

On my own opinion, I think I am a bit skeptical of the exclusion of jack grealish, because he is way better than Bowen that was selected, so that decision too me wasn't right, and as for the experience you are actually talking about, you are very much correct on that, where is Raheem sterling? Where is harry Maguire, though they are not that perfect, but their experience will be very vital in the tournament, especially when they are up against the bigger boys, like France, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Italy, because all my time as a football fan, I have never seen a youthful team win anything big especially in European cup like this, so am very much in support with your sentiment bro.

And as for Southgate, I believe that his future will be determined by the outcome of this tournament, and I believe that he knows very well, so it's up to him to deliver or fail this time around.
On the contrary Southgate might be holding some grudges against the players he dropped. Maybe he is somehow blaming them for being the reason why they lost the last Euros to Italy and also the world cup exit. He might be feeling that if he go with same squad, something similar might happen to them, that's why he opted to go with almost an entirely new squad. I just hope this experiment works out for him. I think he is trying to introduce a new generation of England players to the bigger stage of international football as this will help them build their confidence. My only concern right now is, why do such a experiment at a time England desperately need a trophy.

Well i understand SouthGate criticisms and am sure the English Fa also understands the criticism. While southgate draws many criticisms about tactics, squad and trophy shouts; he remains the only England manager in recent years to get a semi final and final in fifa competitions and k believe this is why he remains in job.

Southgate gets the job done, he just needs to win something to show for the efforts or resign honorably tbh if he fails again at Euro 2024

A lot of surprises on this friendly games so far right ? Romanian not being able to score 1 goals in 2 games against Bulgaria and today against Lichtenstein ( the odds were 1.04 for Romania to win and I must admit on my national tv it was a big scandal for not being able to score once ). Only a week left for Euro 2024 to begin! I'm so happy that we aren't going to be away from football for a long time after the regular season ends.
I agree and thinking the same that the Euro and the Worldcups are a good compensation between the season breaks.
Germany got there last test game against Greece and they won that with 2:1 after a bad first halftime.
But the second halftime was very good and they showd that they can come back after Greece was leading.
Last summer after the end of the season, football fans across the globe were starved of major football events because there wasn't any major competition that was going on but that'll not be the case this summer because we two major tournaments involving the two best footballing continents. In South America, the Copa America will be played this summer while in Europe, we'll experience the UEFA Euros Championship.
The Euros is just one week away from kick off and and I can't just wait for the official kickoff. The top European national teams are going to participate which is why football fans across the globe will definitely be seeing their favorites players in action.

Germany is one of the strongest teams in Europe right now. But that doesn't mean that the match will be one-sided. Scotland are well known for upsets. On top of that they have promising young players in their squad, such as Scott McTominay and John McGinn. We still have 8 days to go for this match, but before that Scotland will be taking on Finland tomorrow at the Hampden Park. In Euro, they are placed in one of the toughest possible groups along with Germany, Hungary and Switzerland.
Without hesitation, I would like to say that Germany is the strongest team in Europe and is even the favorite team to top Group A. Even so, Germany cannot underestimate its opponents, even though Germany has home advantage, Germany always has difficulty against dark horse teams. Scotland can win against Spain in qualifying. Hungary who slaughtered England 4-0 and Switzerland are the most stable Central European teams. So it's not easy.

Even though Germany is the favorite to win this year's Euro, it is very rare or even that none of the hosts of the tournament have won. If Julian Nagelsmann can lead Germany to become EURO champions this year, that would be great.
My prediction for group A
1. Germany
2. Switzerland
3. Scotland
4. Hungary

The thing I want to see the most is a big amount of goals.  Roll Eyes  Otherwise it would stay below my expectations. I wish best of luck to my country, Turkey also.  Smiley  We were terrible in Euro 2020 so I hope we do better this time. And Euro 2008 still has a special place in my heart...
There should be plenty goals to be recorded during the tournament, and we can see some surprises along the line because there will be countless of unexpected results and the countries we might hoped for to win the tournament might end up not winning it.

Are you proud of your country?
Can they do well in the presence of Germany, England, Brazil, Belgium, and others?

I am not in support any team, because I am a Nigerian, but I hope I enjoy watching the entire tournament because I am supporting some certain number of players because of their league performances.

Euro 2024 is going to last a month as the past tournaments and after that there wouldn't be a big space left until leagues restart. I hope we watch a delightful Euro tournament meanwhile.
